    Soy Glazed Wings

I have been eating at Lotus for years but mainly in their Chicago location. Thai is the first time I ate at this location which has a very nice ambiance with the earthy vibe of wood and plants. It's still a restaurant for a quick meal. You can order on their touch screen which is nice but still leaves room for human error. Now the food is always flavorful which is obviously the most important part of a restaurant. However, for today's bahn mi I ordered jalapeños but sadly they were not on my sandwich which made it less than ideal. The wings were delish and the iced coffee was rich in flavor. But it is highly recommended for Vietnamese food or food that has good flavor in general. Finally, I think the service can be improved a bit.

First time and for me, it was just oaky. Perhaps if the prices were lower I would give a higher rating. I suppose it's Oak Brook so the prices were not surprising but the value in my opinion did not match up. The food was a B. The service was a C. The decor was a B-. If I could give half stars I'd give them a 3.5 (C+/B-). I went with 3 stars coz customer service is huge to me and the lady behind the counter barely cracked a smile. I ordered a bowl of beef pho and a Vietnamese coffee. My friends and I also shared an order of shrimp spring rolls and wings. The Pho was $18+ and the coffee was $6+. This did not include tip which I suppose is optional as you order at the counter. They do bring the food out to you. The Pho flavor was good but mild. And the beef quality was not worth the money. The fried chicken was delicious but the rolls tasted like they had been sitting out for a while (not fresh). The menu was limited, Decor upfront was cute, spacious and clean. But you could see all the big boxes of supplies behind the counter. Would look nicer if they concealed it somewhat. Bathrooms were unisex and needed a cleaning.

Delicious vietnamese food near oak brook mall!!! Came here for lunch, it is order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. They also have vietnamese iced coffee, which is always a plus. The pork house noodle salad came with a lot of pork, good value!

Nice looking place in a busy upscale strip mall. Great service, reasonable prices. Had the chicken pho and really enjoyed it. Ordered at the counter and only a few minutes later the dish was brought to my table. Would definitely go back.

Happy to see a pho place open in the area! We tried their spring roll and the beef pho. Now the pho is simple so don't expect all the different types of meat like the meatball, tripe, etc. Perfect lunch spot for something quick. Really good, super clean aka not greasy and everything is fresh. Ambiance is very chill almost like a spa vibe.

I was excited to try this spot with a group of friends to get some authentic Vietnamese food in a nicely decorated setting. The restaurant itself is quite spacious and clean, with lots of tables for casual seating, quick service, and easy ordering. Prices are a bit on the higher side for Vietnamese food but not overly so and the usual bun, pho, rice bowl, and banh mi options were available, though with a bit less choice than the typical full Vietnamese restaurant. For me, the food here was fresh, but a disappointment -- as in it was quite mild and tempered down from what I'd normally expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. The noodle salads were maybe too much salad and not enough herbs and meat for me. It had all the different components that you'd expect to find in the dish, but maybe if there was more acid in the pickled daikon and carrot, extra cilantro, more basil, additional fish sauce, and the meat were a bit more fatty (I tried both beef and pork), it would've made for a better combination. Instead it felt like an Asian themed salad underneath with some meat on top that felt like more of an afterthought. The pho for me was incredibly mild. The broth barely flavored the noodles for me and had a thin consistency, where I expect a super flavorful, dark, and rich broth that really draws out the flavor of beef meat and an assortment of spices. The cilantro also had its delicate oils completely cooked inside the broth and there was hardly any basil provided. The beef itself was too lean and became a bit overcooked when put inside the broth. Overall, this option is good if you're looking for fast casual Vietnamese food that's a bit more approachable for those newer to the cuisine. But if you're looking for something closer to what you find on Argyle St, this would not meet your needs.

Sunny-side Beef Banh Mi $13.45 (my fav)

Hands down this place has the best banh mi that I dream about coming back to. They're generous on their meats portion, and the bread is soft and fresh. It's just something you have to taste for yourself. Their banh mi are special and as a Viet, I fully approve. The price is bit more than some others but it's fully worth it. No doubt the Banh Mi to get here is Sunny Side Beef $13.45 (must have) which includes a runny egg and THE most amazing soy sauce. I think it might be the same sauce in the Soy Glazed Wings as well $11 (for 6) and always leaving us craving for more. The Honey Grilled Pork banh mi is fully loaded with meat and also delicious $10.45. It has lesser sauce but you can taste the flavor. We love coming here with the fam for some quick eats and plan to come back again to try the rest of the menu. The service is friendly and the food comes out fast. We saw Max on both visit and he really made us feel at home. Did we mention that we really love it here? Overall, this modern Viet cafe is a gem of a place in Oakbrook! (And they also do catering too!)

This is a wonderful place to enjoy Vietnamese food in Oakbrook. The dishes are very flavorful, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they even serve tea, which I really enjoyed. The pho is especially delicious--I highly recommend giving it a try!

My husband and I met some friends at Lotus Banh Mi. We ordered a Pork House Noodle Salad (Rice noodle, pork eggroll, honey, lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce) and the Beef Pho (onions, scallion, cilantro, basil, beansprouts and lime on the side). The food was only average. The pork was sweet and had a good flavor. Everything else was adequate but not special. The basil, cilantro, and pho broth were not flavorful like I am accustomed to. The portions were big but I still feel like the dishes were over priced. There are much better options for Vietnamese food. The service was good. The food was brought to our table after we ordered at the front counter.

    Curry Chicken Rice Bowl

I saw this place after a friend of mine wanted to try a new place. This place has great ratings, so I was ready for a great experience. Unfortunately, other than the service, I can't recommend this place over others such as Viet Taste. You order and pay for your food at the counter, and then they bring it to your table. This process was pretty fast, but there were not many people there on a Tuesday night. The food is rather lackluster compared to what the reviews have said. I ordered the chicken curry bowl, and this wasn't very good. They only give a small portion or curry sauce on the side. This wouldn't be too much of a problem except it lacked a strong flavor and resulted in much of the dish being tasteless. The chicken in the dish was pretty good, however, but still lacked the flavor that should have been delivered by the curry. The one thing I agree with compared to the other reviews is that the vegetables are very fresh. While that is true, I didn't order a curry dish for the only highlight to be the vegetables. The springs rolls once again tasted very fresh but barely had anything in them. A majority of the spring roll was a cucumber half, and compared to other places, it wasn't the best. We also received a pork egg roll, which was actually pretty good flavor and texture wise. The pho that my friend had looked very diluted, and after tasting it, my friend was reluctant to finish the bowl. Overall, try it once and see if it fits your taste, but I will look to other places at this point.

After doing some holiday shopping, had a taste for bahn mi and was happy to find this beautiful location. The place itself is super spacious, clean, and had very friendly staff - other reviews specified how kind they are as well which is always great! Anyways, the food itself was very good. The wings were full of flavor, juicy, and crispy. A near perfect combo for wings! The bahn mi was also great! It was huge and full of fresh/crispy veggies and well seasoned meat. The bahn mi baguette was also delicious, crunchy yet soft as expected from that bread. Overall, had a very nice time, I do hope more people can come here! It wasn't very packed when I went but it deserves to be. Lastly, the price was great! For me/my SO, we spent around 45$ for 2 entrees and two sides.

Nice space , quality ingredients and good food. The service was quick , we got the veggie spring rolls , rice bowl and chicken sandwich. We wanted tea but they didn't have hot tea , our wonderful server got us hot water with lemon and basil.

We arrived on a Saturday around 7:30 and they started getting packed and had a wait by 8. They are cash only but if you forget they have an atm inside as well! Prices are so shocking! Each bowl was about $14 which is the cheapest I've seen a bowl of pho in a looooong time. Food comes out pretty quickly. We order the appetizer fried shrimp Rangoon, bun Bo hue, pho dac biet, and avocado smoothie w/boba. The base of soup for both dishes was AMAZING! Good depth of flavor and not lacking anything. The bun Bo hue had a ton of meat and they even have the pork blood cubes! Pho dac biet was lacking a quantity of meat but good variety. The only complaint I have is the Avocado smoothie was very bland and didn't have much avocado taste. The boba tasted old because it didn't have its chewy texture anymore. Will DEFINITELY be coming back for the food!!!

Best of all, the prices are very affordable compared to other places I've tried. The goi cuon is only $5.50 for two rolls, while other restaurants charge around $7.50. I highly recommend this spot. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash, although there's an ATM inside.

I looked up highly rated Vietnamese restaurants and found Tasty House 1 in Carol Stream. This place is everything we anticipated it to be. The location is nice and has parking in front, inside is super spacious and had a relaxing and breathable ambiance. We ordered a family appetizer platter that came with all the delicious Vietnamese appetizers like: spring rolls, bbq marinated meat, fried eggrolls, grilled jumbo shrimp, meat wrapped in betel leaf, lettuce, noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, tomatoes, daikon, jalapeños, two dipping sauces: peanut butter hoisin and Vietnamese fish sauce. Another appetizer we got separately was the fried calamari which had a great crunchy texture, the absolute best! For our entrees I decided to build my own pho and chose tripe, rib eye steak and quail eggs. My husband got the spicy beef noodle soup (Bun Bo Hue). This is honestly the best Vietnamese we've ever had in our lives!!!! I'm so glad I found this place. Awesome service, food and atmosphere. Zero complaints everything was very fresh and perfect. There is a separate vegan menu with half a dozen things on it, and other than the drinks and desserts, pretty much nothing on the regular menu is vegetarian. (The papaya salad, which is on the vegan menu, is a ringer: it contains fish sauce.) You've got your choice of various fruit lemonades, bubble teas, popping bubble teas, jellies, etc. Desserts include flan, Vietnamese yogurt, coconut jelly - none of which you'll be eating onsite as you'll be too full after your entree. Portions are on the large side - even the papaya salad is a meal. I got the peach lemonade, vegetable spring rolls and the tofu, vegetable and noodles, which turned out to be a soup, basically Vietnamese ramen. The spring rolls are tasty and come with peanut sauce; the vegetable broth was savory with lots of baby bok choy, plenty of noodles and cubes of fried tofu - it was even better with some of the homemade hot sauce, which I highly recommend. The lemonade comes in a bubble tea disposable cup and contains tiny pieces of fruit - very fruity, not very citrusy. Service was friendly and very personable, which helps if you're serving 16 people. All of whom were happy.
