If this is your first time, make sure you read their website and understand what you're getting yourself into. What Brian and Kasia specialize in is not a conventional couples massage where two people are lying down on massage tables next to each other. It is a spiritual, emotional experience where you and your partner's bodies are intertwined and moving in sync like a beautiful dance. After a quick intro, we started out on the floor, facing each other in an embrace. Brian and Kasia massaged our backs, necks, and arms while melding the bodies toward each other and at times releasing and pulling away. It was wonderful to just go with it and be in the moment. For the second half, we were lying down with our legs still connected. Not only were were being massaged as individuals, we also moved as one unit. If you have many knots and your main goal to is to get them out, this may not be the best option. It's a very spiritual massage that will help you connect or reconnect with your partner. Brian and his partner Athena worked together seamlessly to provide an amazing experience for both of us. Brian was very warm and professional when I booked the appointment, and gave us great directions to his loft, which was easy to find and had easy street parking. The loft is decorated in a modern Asian style with red velvet fabrics on the walls and altar boxes with statues. The pool is inside too, which gives the place a cozy feel. Brian had made it clear in advance that we were welcome to wear swimsuits during the water part and underwear for the "on land" part if we would be more comfortable that way, but we are used to being nude, so we chose to not wear clothes during the session which felt natural and very comfortable throughout. The first part of the massage, we were floated in the warm pool, Harbin Watsu-style, which I *LOVE*. (If you have never had a Watsu, then you should have one immediately.) At the end, Brian, who was floating me, gently floated me into my lover's arms, where he and I were left to reconnect and rejoice in each other for a few quiet moments. Then we toweled off and proceeded to a cushy, velvet-covered mat where we were arranged into a position embracing each other for the rest of the massage. I felt my heart open as my muscles relaxed, and I felt so grateful for Brian and Athena and what they were creating for us, and for my love and all he is to me. Ahhhh.... We took a shower afterwards, which we needed, since they used oil on us for the last part, and then went back out into the bright sunshine of the world. I arrived on time and she put me in a room and when I was undressed on the table she came in to tell me the masseuse would come in another 5-10 minutes and then told me about their parking lot in the back. As a first time customer, I didn't know they had a safer parking lot option in the back but was already undressed and on the table. She could have asked me where I parked and told me about the lot in the back when she let me in but didn't. There was some discussion about whether parking on the street in front would be safe but it was inconvenient to dress and re park the car and get undressed again. Masseuse Maria was said to be very good per Cherry but came in with a lot of rushed energy to start the 60 min massage. The pressure was too light at first and Cherry had said for any deeper pressure I would have to pay $80 for the 60 minutes instead of $70 which would be a "very light touch." When I requested deeper pressure from Maria she decided to walk on my body. It was painful at times and I have had this treatment many times elsewhere and it didn't feel the same in terms of her sensitivity to the client's body resistance. I relaxed and dozed off for 20 minutes or so during the body massage after she walked on my back. But she ran out of oil or had some issues with the bottle and was audibly upset about it which ruined the flow. Most of the massage felt rushed and not a calm and relaxing experience. She left to get hot towels and wiping up was rough compared to other experiences. The oil also felt greasy and I showered immediately after, especially because she wore gloves and massaged my face after the body oil. Afterwards I asked for change for a $20, intending to give somewhere between $18-25 for the $60 service. As soon as Maria saw my $20 and I asked for change her attitude turned sour. She came back with two $10 bills and I asked for one $5 and five $1 bills. She was very unhappy and was muttering in Chinese about it. Word of advice - don't assume your customers do not understand/speak Cantonese or Mandarin because many do. Grumbling about getting change for YOUR tip and demanding $20-25 was over the top and was the last straw. Maggie said restaurants charge at least 18% for tip for individual service. She also said her rates of $80 for 60 min was cheap and other places are $130 for 75 min. Honestly, I am dumbfounded because I've never been to any spa where they had this kind of attitude immediately after treatment because a customer requested change for cash for the tip. Maria didn't even charge me for the $60 and was solely focused on her tip. I told Maggie I hadn't been charged as an honest customer and she looked shocked Maria had not charged me for the service yet. Save your money and go elsewhere to relax unless you want to be more stressed about car safety/parking, how much to tip for subpar service that felt rushed and uneven, and how much other massage places charge and how much other customers tip comparatively.
