What we ordered was amazing, though. We got the crispy walnut shrimp and pork fried rice. The shrimp was AMAZING... crispy, hot, sweet...so good. The pork fried rice was perfectly flavorful, as well...tons of pork in it. I had ordered delivery a couple times in the past and was not impressed. For the last year I've ordered using "delivery." IF I order from them again, I'll try pick up. Big emphasis on IF. I understand short staffed. I understand busy times. My order last night took over an hour. When I finally received my order it was missing items. One of my items had green beans that were so overcooked it was gross. When I called they said they would fix it on my next order. When I asked them to bring the missing items they said it would take another hour! My next order, which may never be placed, doesn't fix my need for dinner now! My only option was to drive to the restaurant and pick up the food. What a mess. It's not just that I paid for delivery, it's that this has happened before and I've said yes to fixing it on the next order. They don't track anything so there's no record of the "fix" or credit. I was visiting a friend in the Upland area this past Friday 6.12.20 and was craving Chinese food. He suggested Lotus Garden, and I decided to try it. So glad that I did!! Called our order in, picked up 20 minutes later. Food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at the food quality considering the price, I was expecting a "Panda Express" fast food type of vibe. Instead I got authentic freshly made food. Food: Kung Pao chicken - absolutely delicious! It is on the spicy side, but it wasn't an overwhelming spicy taste. It was bearable and sooooo good (I'm ordering it again today for lunch Yummmm) Vegetable chow mein - really flavorful, no need to use soy sauce. Fried Cream cheese wontons - these did not disappoint. This place is a small restaurant with some pretty good food. First let me disclose my brother didn't enjoy his orange chicken as much as I enjoyed my walnut shrimp. So your experience may not be a nice as mine was. The service was nice and fast. No complaints there. We ordered the lunch specials to go which came with soup, an egg roll and a fried wonton. The egg roll was filled with vegetables and didn't taste bad. The fried wonton had the smallest piece of meat in it. Literally the size of three peas put together. Being free I don't blame them for making it small but really feels weird seeing it. The soup I enjoyed being more than just a standard egg drop soup, probably my favorite of the included extras. The walnut shrimp was very good. It was crispy on the outer edges, but still nice and tender. They put the shrimp on a bed of broccoli to keep it from getting soaked in the mayo, a forethought on their part. The broccoli however didn't really match the flavor palette of the meal in my opinion, but I'm not the biggest fan of mayo broccoli others may have different tastes. read more

Placed an order via Grubhub at 5:30 for a 7:30 delivery. I received confirmation that the order was received, and would be delivered between 7:30 and 7:40. At 8:15 I called the restaurant and was told that "They have no order for my address". I said that "That's odd because I received confirmation that you had received the order and it would be delivered at 7:40." To which I was told, "Would you like us to make the order now, or refund it"? I asked how they could refund an order that was never received? I ten was given the run around by the staff that they could refund the order because it was on their tablet but they never received a confirmation from GrubHub. I said, that's odd because I did, and canceled the order. I then filed a late/not delivered report on the order with Grubhub via their website. 5 minutes later I received a call from Grubhub telling me that the restaurant called to cancel the order because "They have no driver." I told them that the restaurant was full of it, because they told me that they had not received a confirmation, but offered to deliver it in make it now and deliver it in an hour and a half and they only canceled after I had called them to ask what happened. Grubhub then confirmed that the restaurant had indeed confirmed the order when I placed it. read more

My fried rice was very bland. There was hardly any vegetable and the rice had mostly soy sauce for flavor on the bottom. Didnt seem like they added any sort of spice. I really enjoyed the broth from the vegetable soup but that was about it. Ir was super mild and delicate with a few rough veggies. I wasnt even too in love with the vegetables. I wish they added a better variety. $32 for the entire meal, i probably wont bother ordering from here again. Can't say I'm too impressed with this location. I went on a day where there wasn't many people coming through and it seems like that's the norm there by the look of the entrees. The food on display looked old and just sitting there lookin' sad. I figured I'd order a wonton soup and rice and it was alright but not for $12 (didn't even order a drink with that) Then when I told the hostess I would be dining there she gave me this "ughhhh really???" kind of a look but I was like "ehh screw it.." Definitely won't be my FIRST choice when craving Chinese but if the munchies strike I might consider it- early so I can catch the fresher entrees. read more

Picked up dinner today. This place has very poor quality of food. I remember ordering here Vegetable Chicken about a year ago. My wife forgot this place had the bad chicken dish. The other dish we ordered was Mongolian Beef. Both dishes were similar in quality. The Chicken and beef both have a slimy texture, but the chicken pieces were larger and when you bite into it the flavor was bland and this rubbery feeling with each bite. It was awful. The beef pieces, again, smaller in size but had the same slimy texture. My son had Tofu. He said it was great! I'm glad he had a full dinner. I will never order from Lotus Garden. This was Saturday evening about 5:30 pm. Only 2 to go orders. Mine was one of them. No people sitting inside. The restaurant has poor food quality, and needs to invest money to keep customers happy. read more

This rating is for the best honey walnut shrimp around town. We love the crispness of the large shrimp, the breading is thin, and when they say it's honey - yes they use good amount of honey, some will use more mayonnaise. Only critique is hopefully they add tad more walnut in there. It can serve 2-3 people if that's the only entree you're having. I love that the entree comes with rice. We decided that we might as well stop for dinner to wait out the traffic. We randomly stumbled upon Lotus Garden, an unassuming Chinese place in a suburban Upland strip mall with little ambiance. But it had the distinct advantage of being open for business on Christmas eve. So Lotus Garden it was. As we were the only customers at the time, the woman at the register assisted us promptly. One of us ordered a half bowl of seafood soup, and another friend and I shared a full bowl of wor wonton soup. We also each ordered a chicken entree with brown rice ($1 extra per person). As we were waiting for our food, I happened to check in on Yelp, and realized that there was a "free egg roll" offer upon check-in. Our server initially protested (she said the offer was only good for online orders, though there was no such restriction included on the offer), but since it was Christmas Eve, she kindly decided to give us all a free egg roll anyway. Our soups came out quickly, and we were shocked - and delighted - at how large the portion sizes were. The wor wonton soup was so chock full of shrimp, chicken, dumplings and veggies that my friend and I could have made our entire meal out of the soup. In fact, I was so stuffed after eating the soup that I couldn't even touch my generous garlic chicken entree (I ended up taking it "to go"; it was yummy, although overly salty... possibly from an excess of MSG?) Our server brought us some chocolate wafer sticks as a little free "dessert" at the end of the meal. We all agreed that the meal had been delicious, and at only $16/ person plus tip, a fantastic deal as well. First off, they were 30-40 mins late. I ordered L-18 and the shrimp was most likely frozen. The soup looks like my old dish water. The egg roll was cold as shit. I also ordered the DRAGON loco fries with chicken and it looked like the scooped this shitty cold chicken in the middle of these cold fries, threw 2 pieces of craft cheese slices on top and didn't even take the time to melt it. I wish I could close this place down due to everyone food in my office looking like horse shit. I honestly think the best thing about this place is the pre packed fortune cookies. We ordered through DoorDash two days ago. Everything we ordered was tasty, and we appreciated their many options as well as having the crispy noodles and multiple soups. The portions were standard. The Szechuan Eggplant was excellent and our girls really liked their Chow Mein. Every main dish we ordered had the option to make into a meal by including rice and soup, and egg roll- so if you do that then don't order extra rice because we ended up with way too much steamed rice.
