I came here for lunch. They have a great deal for lunch specials. The food had good flavor. The only complaint was the shrimp was a misogyny instead of being crispy and I asked for no onions on o e of the dishes and it had a lot of green onions. The service was great! All the waiters worked together to get your food out quick, feel your drinks and clean your table. I was impressed. It's a small place with surprisingly lots of seating. My friends and I dined at Szechuan Garden Last night. The food and service were first rate, as usual. I had the Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. It's my favorite dish there. I tend to lean towards the salty/spicy end of the spectrum (in other words, not sweet) at Chinese restaurants and this fits the bill perfectly. The only thing that would make it better is if there was some kung pao spiciness to it. There were six of us. Each of us ordered an entree and we all shared. We all chose to add the dinner combination to our entrees. For an additional $6.95, you get soup, fried rice or steamed rice, an egg roll, a fried wonton, and something called paper chicken (which is actually wrapped in foil and tastes kind of sausage like). Incidentally, for years, my go to Chinese restaurant was China Gate in nearby Upland. I had been going there since the mid '90s. Back in late 2018, I was stunned to learn that they had closed after nearly 40 years in business. Oh no! What was I going to do now? Thankfully, someone dropped the name Szechuan Garden on the Yelp page for China Gate. I was intrigued. I had to try the place. I'm glad that I did. The food is good and the prices are quite reasonable. The ambiance less industrial and perhaps a touch more "cozy" than a lot of restaurants nowadays. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience. I love this little gem in the rough! The food is always excellent and the service is always on point, but the best part about this establishment is the value. Chinese food, as always, is the best value option giving the best blend between quantity and quality. Szechuwan Garden ups the game and delivers sit-down quality food in the quantities usually associated with hole-in-the-wall take out joints. Talk about getting the best of both worlds! Take, for example, the shrimp in lobster sauce. The dinner portion had over 20 large shrimp?!? The sauce is so light yet packed with savory umami flavor It's irrelevant that there isn't any "lobster" in it. The shrimp are cooked perfectly with not a hint of rubberiness or fishiness. Just succulent, sweet, juicy, freshness...times 20. How about the Mongolian beef? The chewiness of beef is usually inversely proportional to its price. Szechuwan Garden defies the laws of nature in this regard. Soft succulent beef slices in a rich, smoky, brown sauce full of wok hei. The best part though is the take out container was overflowing. I easily got enough food for two full meals for two people for less than $50. That's $12.50 per person per meal. I know PF Chang's had an appetizer for less...back in 2005. Haha! read more

This is our favorite local Chinese food place. It's slightly pricier than but worth it. Everything we've ordered has been full of delicious flavors, a party of flavors in every bite. We've tried several dishes but this past visit we had the tangerine spicy chicken, black mushroom beef, and vegetable lomein and loved it all. They don't skim on the vegetables and although it's pricier, we always have left overs for a second or third full serving. It's absolutely delicious. We always order for pick up so I can't comment on the seated service but I can say that the restaurant itself has plenty of booth and table seating. It has low lighting and almost always has a few families dinning in, many of which appear to possibly be Chinese. When I visit a restaurant that serves ethnic foods from a culture different than my own, I always think it's a good sign when customers from the same culture are dining since they truly know how it should taste. read more

Was here 10 days ago and just had to come back! lol This visit, we tried two different dishes. Moo shu with shrimp- "Chinese burritos" four pancakes filled with sautéed shrimp, stir fried cabbage, and scrambled eggs with a side of a hoisin based sauce. We also ordered the vegan kung pao chicken- stir fried meat substitute/vegan chicken with green bell peppers, water chestnuts, white onion, and red chilis in kung pao sauce. The moo shu with shrimp was good but I wish the pancake was a little softer. The vegan kung pao chicken was amazing! (Even my meat loving sister enjoyed it) Service was still on the slow side but we didn't mind. A must stop on our yearly camping trip. We always make it in to get our favorites, mine is cashew chicken and my wife gets sweet and sour chicken sauce on the side and we also grab a side of veggie chowmein.
