I moved to Montgomery Village in July and found this place. It's close to the house and they have been great. I usually request Anne and get the classic pedicure with callous removal and gel manicures on my nails. Anne is great, she's very nice and does a great job. I have had my nails done here at least a dozen times. I have also had Jennifer as well, she's good too. I prefer Anne only because she is a bit more patient and meticulous. I did have the weird guy once, he was terrible, hence the 4 stars. My gel manicure started to peel within a couple of days. I typically get 10 days before they start to chip or peel. I have oily nail beds and a regular polish starts to peel Within a day or two. I always request Anne or Jennifer because I know they will do a good job. Last, they are very busy on Sunday which is usually when I go...it's wise to book an appointment on the weekend. read more

The first time I went my service was amazing. Then next time I went it was a nightmare. When I left and got home I noticed my nails didn't even look like they were filled. Within 24 hours 4 of my nails had no polish left on them at all. It all peeled off. Called to see if I could come in to get them fixed and Linda the owner said they all had a party to go to and couldn't get me in until Monday. My nails were done on Thursday. Went in Monday and they were rude rushed me to just repolished my nails and all of them were talking about me the whole time I was there(translator app does wonders). I will not be returning. after my nails were repainted I still have a nail that is extremely crooked and they told me my finger is crooked. I've had my nails done for 15 years and never had a crooked nail like this. They need some major training in how to polish and need even more improvement on customer service. read more

Needed a pedicure and manicure right before a meeting and since it's right by my office i decided to stop in. Thank goodness I did. Pedicure and manicure were done very well by Tien. It's going on a week and my REGULAR manicure has lasted. This doesn't happen - my regular mani usually only lasts 3 days lol. I do have a regular salon I go to closer to home but if I'm ever in need to get my nails done around the office I'll definitely return to lotus. Prices are reasonable as well given that it's Gaithersburg. I came in on a Thursday late afternoon and appreciated the quiet atmosphere and instrumental music playing instead of a loud tv. I came here to get a filling after my friend Lori told me about how awesome the service is and how she has been going to Linda and loves her work. I was told to check out Vicki for all the cool designs because I have been looking for someone who can do an amazing cracked marble look. I saw some examples on their yelp page and decided to check it out. I went early evening on a Monday and unfortunately Vicki was not working that day so Jenny fit me in. She did a great job and I was all about my bubble bath nails! I recently went again and could not figure out what color I wanted. Jenny to the rescue! She found this cute pink color that looked great on my skin. She also cleaned my eyebrows up and they look amazing. It's in the middle of the apartment complex where the Firebird restaurant is. It can be accessed off 355/Frederick by the light and wind through the development where it's located by California Tortilla OR via the back off Watkins Mill. Free parking on the private roads. I went in the middle of a Wednesday and few were there. Walked in, picked my polish and had a lovely, relaxing predicure. Came with a sugar scrub, foot/leg massage AND a free water for only $25! I'm sad to say that this is the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. Which is unfortunate since I have just recently moved to the adjacent apartment building. My first time going I got a signature pedicure for ($35). It was alright but not amazing. I thought I'd definitely be back since I live within walking distance and the staff were friendly. About 6 days later my big toe begins to ache and is red. It hurts to walk or wear shoes. I will spare the gory details. Fast forward a few days, I finally get into the doctors office and they say my toe is infected. My toe needs to be drained and bandaged. I even fainted at the doctors because it hurt so bad. Having to take a day off from work to go to the doctors plus $$ for a visit and antibiotics, I can say this has been horrible. I have been getting pedicures for years and various salons and have never, ever had this issue. I went back and told the manager, Linda my problem and she issued a refund. She was apologetic but there is still no excuse. Absolutely no reason as to why a customer should be subjected to this. I was so excited that this could be my new go-to salon, but it's surely will not be. Please do not come here and risk getting an infection or worse. read more

I went to get my nails done for the first time here. Never again. I walked in asking for a regular manicure (no gel as it messes my nails up) and i said i want a design. They first say oh if you want a design and it's not gel it won't last long. I said, that's fine, i have got designs before and wasn't ever hell so i won't have an issue. When it was time for the design (It was flowers) they then go, do you have another design, we don't have alot of color. I'm like it doesn't have to be exact colors as on the pictures. They said they had very limited color. Then wanted to convince me to do sticker design instead. I said no. I showed them a simple line design ( literally two swirls) the lady that did it, did a horrible job! One nail she drew thin lines/swirls and on the other hand they were thicker and didn't even look nice. All she said was oh I'm sorry and didn't even bother to fix it. First and last time. read more

I really wanted to like this place since Iv seen all the reviews... I made an apt (with anyone) cause it was my first time. I went on a Friday around lunch .. it was so busy an hot. I felt like everyone was on top of each other. My bag was touched by multiple people even tho it was right next to me on the floor. There was no room. So uncomfortable. There wasn't a lot of options I felt like. The gentleman who did my nails was really sweet. He kept asking if everything was ok. That is the only reason I'm giving two stars cause of how nice he was. one of the BEST if not THE BEST nail salons i've been in . decorated beautiful high end interior design and my favorite part is the pedicure area for children you can't get any better than that. the staff was friendly and helpful and tony who did my pedicure and nails paid attention to detail and took off all of my hangnails and made sure all was perfect . Parking is tricky with parallel but there lot parking lots as well. I love my design and the manager always gave me compliments . sorry this review is short , my nail salon reviews are pretty much similar . Now my new place (since October 2017) is Lotus Nails!!! The staff is very nice and the salon is always very clean (a major plus for me). Longest review ever but I have to vent Horrible pedi/mani experience today. Instead of leaving nail salon feeling good with pretty nails, I left with stress/worry &less than average looking nails before my Europe trip. Let me start by saying that I came here once before and had an amazing experience with Linda ..not my luck this time - goes to show how a business can vary from day to day. I requested Linda again based on the stellar first experience (salon was empty that day) Today salon had more appointments going. Probably the worst pedicure I've ever received in my life! I felt like crying throughout the entire process !Everything was opposite from the first time I visited. Everything was done very rushed and abrupt and sloppy today. No attention to detail -The side of my foot was grated off with the cheese grater she uses to get all your dry skin from under your foot and caused a painful abrasion which bled&stung throughout entire pedicure. Wouldn't have been that big of a deal but it just got worse from there.. I asked her to shorten one of the nails as it was not even with the others and instead of shortening it lengthwise she cuts off the sides and demolishes my nail which will in the long run ruin my nail since that was once done to my toe nail over a decade ago and has never healed correctly so I have a deformed looking nail-after that she tries to fix it by chemical gluing a fake nail on top of my tiny toe next to my pinky toe - The nails on my feet are already thin enough&I spent the last six months growing them out so they can be healthy for this pedicure.. She continued to slice off the ends of the other toes next to this one to make them skinnier to match the one she messed up on .. My mouth just dropped when she did that. I guess due to the language barrier she did not understand when I asked her to shorten my nail a little.When cleaning up the nails she cut the skin around my thumb by accident and that started bleeding and hurting. entire pedicure was painful to the point where I was biting on my thumb. Took me forever to choose my color which she told me they definitely had..turns out they didn't and I got stuck with a color I wasn't the happiest about but I did not want to have her wait for me to choose another and start over. Every nail was cut/filed uneven with rough pointy edges and when I pointed out their unevenness, she joked about my pickiness. End result was horrible with ashy scaly skin left behind. Underneath my feet were rough. I was frowning and obviously unhappy throughout entire process when I had been looking forward to this for months. I was charged extra for gluing a fake nail on and I still ended up leaving a tip even though I felt horrible about how my pedicure looked-can It get any worse after this!? Why yes, yes it can! The worst part about the entire experience was that when I walked out obviously unhappy and even told the technician's son who works the front desk that it was not the best experience.... He did nothing he just shrugged and watched me walk out the door. He did not ask me what went wrong or what they could do better to improve in the future. I decided not to complain while I was in there in front of other customers. I went to my car and my friend that was with me agreed that they looked horrible.. And he is a guy that does not pay attention to details. My pinky toe's nail polish was already chipped by the time I got to my car. I decided to call and let the owners son who works the desk/phones know about my experience- the cuts, the pain, the unevenness, the chip - his reply was yes so what do you want me to do about it? I asked him how he thinks he could fix the situation based on my experience- he says well you can wait a couple of hours and come back in and we can fix the chipping on your toe. What!! Hang out for a couple of hours I just walked out the door from my appointment! I told him based on the experience which was completely horrible I was completely unsatisfied with the outcome and his response was "well give us a bad rating online if that's what you want to do and then go somewhere else" and slammed the phone down on me-hung up on his customer after getting an attitude. I'm sorry but if you're going to run a business you should know that customer service comes first and if you don't know how to talk to your customers then don't run a business. I never received and I'm sorry you were not satisfied with your visit or let me see what I can do to make sure that you're satisfied. All I got was attitude and basically being told not to come back into the shop. Never wouldI recommend anyone go here. As far as the manicure and pedicure -it's hit or miss- like I said last time I had a good experience and Linda was great-this time I left and pain, destroyed nails, fake nails glued & filed down on top of some nails..overall nails that looked like I could have done a better job on my own at home.The only positive I can write as that Linda is very nice read more

I've been coming to Lotus for almost three whole years now . I've brought a lot of clientele to them so, I guess you can call it my second home. I usually get my nails done by Jenny but unfortunately she was off today so I just decided to still come bye to get a fill and one nail fixed . I'm not a picky person by the way and I alway Tip BIG. I was seen by a lady named Lisa around 12:30 and from when I walked in she didn't even say hello . She was hurting my hand being extremely rough and I asked if she could be a little more careful and her response was "I'm not being rough!" . She kept cutting my finger and that was due to her being distracted by another coworker showing her funny stories on her phone . The pain became so unbearable that I begged her to stop . I had to use all my strength to pull my hand away from her and I said "STOP !" Then she responded with "fine ! , get out ! " so I ran out the door terribly saddened by this experience . Did not like my experience. Went a few days ago for a gel mani and pedi. They do not use a new nail file and buffer with each person. The technician attempted to use a used buffer on me and I asked him to use a new one which he did. He then attempted to use a metal cheese grater on my feet that he had laying in a box on his cart. I actually jumped when I saw it. I asked him not to use it. I assume that was not sanitized between each use. I got a gel manicure and it chipped in two days. Not satisfied at all. Just wanted to update my review. I visited Lotus Nails again last Saturday (09/10/2016) for a mani and pedi. I had booked online requesting nail tech Linda. When I arrived the guy at the front (Jason?) advised me Tenise (sp?) will be my tech. What the what??? I asked him why the switcharoo as I had requested Linda when I booked my appointment online days ago; and Jason responded as I was using a Groupon; a "paying" (yes folks! he said "paying". LOL. As if I didn't "pay" for my Groupon) customer gets precedence as to his/her preferred nail tech. Just a little tid bit I figured you potential Lotus patrons and savvy Groupon/Living Social purchasers should be aware of. Anywho, on to the actual work i.e. my pedi and mani...Tenise (and I hope I am spelling her name correctly) was a very skilled tech. She did not rush through my mani or pedi at all. Very nice place, friendly staff and great customer service. I had 2 gel nails somehow get ruined the next day and they fixed them for me - I really appreciate that. Unfortunately, just another 2 days after, 2 more nails have now chipped as well. I've had gel before and this has never happened, even weeks later. My guess is because the gel polish wasn't OPI? I have been getting my mani/pedis from here for a couple of years and I love it! Whenever I have come in I have always been met with a greeting and the staff has always been kind to me. The technicians have always done my nails just how I have asked and they all are really good, in my opinion. They offer you bottled water regardless of the service you get. Nail salons with a good vibe that you'd actually want to go back a second time is actually surprisingly hard to come by, but you've got one right here! Eunice is super awesome-- she takes her time, makes sure you like your color, and has a great attitude. My regular mani has lasted over a week and that NEVER happens.
