For the pricing its pretty good food here. Been to Lotus 5 times (to date), and plan to return. Since they are a bit pricey, I cannot afford to go more frequently than 2x a year or so. They offer Chinese and Japanese cuising, of which I have mostly eaten the Sashimi and Sushi (the main reason I stopped in the first time). The sushi was pretty good each time, and the sashimi was excellent. I read the other reviews, and am confused at what the complaint is. I have eaten sushi and sashimi all over the midwest, and its up there with any other native run restaurant. FWIW, I arrived generally between 5-7pm on Saturdays. Perhaps thats the "good" day to go. But either way, my experience was quite pleasant. I do plan to return as often as I can, since they are located less than a mile away from my humble abode, and can fully recommend them to anyone. I had inquired regarding this location to a few friends who voiced glowing recommendation, with the caveat of about $40 a seat when its all said and done (appetizer, meal, drink, desert). And thats about right. I tend to go ape on sushi/sashimi and beer, so my bill is a bit higher. read more

I don't know what these stuck up people on here are talking about. If you go once and it is not what you want try something else or ask them to go easy on sauce or tell them how you want it, they will listen. Every time I have been there the service is excellent and the food always rocks. My parents are not very adventurous food eaters and even they enjoy their meals here! The best Sushi I have had out of anywhere in the Milwaukee area. Monday and Tuesday are half off. Can't beat it! Also the fried rice dishes are awesome! Cheers! read more

I ate here on Valentine's day. It was very busy. I ordered a strawberry margarita, appetizer and 7 sushi rolls. My server was very kind, but I got the feeling she didn't know what a margarita was. Margarita was on the menu by the way. After 40 minutes I asked for my drink and was brought some Asian strawberry pop drink. I said no, she seemed even more confused. Felt like I should have just tried the cool looking soda pop. After an hour, the bartender asked what I wanted. Hour and fifteen minutes, we get our food, app, and my drink. It was all delicious enough for me to not care too much about getting it all at once. They were really busy. I didn't get charged for the margarita, and I will be back. read more

It was sushi night and I am very satisfied! The sushi was incredible. We tried the Alaskan, spicy salmon, California, eel and spider roll. The sushi rice was really soft, well formed, and very delicious. The salmon was among the very best that I ever had. I believe that I detected some tempura bits in the spicy salmon roll, and that made it delectable. They were generous with sesame seeds and that really seems to bring together all of the tastes of each rolls. If you want to try something different, substitue the rice paper for seaweed, its easier to bite, and is a pretty shade of pink! The tempura vegetables were a little greasy, but the tempura shrimp was ON POINT! Sodas are 2 bucks a pop and the service was a little slow, but not terrible. The final price was a little higher, but then I pigged out, so it all evens out in the end. read more

I was hungry and on a whim stopped in. First bad sign 8pm on a Saturday night and only two cars in the parking lot. Next I stood for 5 minutes and no one even acknowledged me. I took a seat for another 5 minutes the sushi chef saw me but I never saw a hostess or a waitress. I saw one girl frantically cleaning and closing down sections. They close at 10pm, still two more full hours of service. After 10 minutes and not even a nod from an employee I left. I don't know what the good tastes like, I never got a seat. read more

Went there for the sushi specials they run on Monday and Tuesday where it's half price on most sushi an rolls. Service was ok, took a while to be greeted at the door, theres a hostess stand right when you walk in but theres really never anyone at it so you have to go to the register to get noticed. As far as the sushi went it was pretty good, only complaint was the seaweed in the rolls was a bit chewy. read more

I aboslutely love this place. The service is good, the sushi is always fresh and the hibachi show is great. The only down fall that I have is that it is a little on the expensive side. However, it is cheaper than anywhere you could go downtown and parking is never an issue. We go here often for the lunch specials. Very reasonable and you always walk out full. read more

Sorry to say it, as we received a gift certificate from friends, but it was not good at all ( except for the yellowtail roll). We ordered several things. Bulgogi was horrible - not even close in flavor and covered in onions. 75%onions, 10% other veggies, 15% beef. Hibachi lobster and steak - SO bland and dry. Pad Thai was decent until I found a shaving of metal in it. Not good. All leftovers were disposed of. Disappointed. read more

We have gone here several times. We enjoy eating at the hibachi tables. But this time the restaurant was very dirty. The floors and chairs were dirty and not vacuumed. The chef had on a very dirty apron and hat. If you looked around, you could tell the whole restaurant needed a deep cleaning. I was so disappointed. read more

Lotus offers decent sushi at reasonable prices. If you're looking for the best sushi in town, this isn't it. However, if you happen to be in Oak Creek with a hankering for sushi, Lotus is completely serviceable. Very friendly service and a menu that appeals to both fish and non-fisheaters. I had a terrible experience here. This was the last time I ever go back. My family ordered a bunch of food for a celebration. The food was literally disgusting. The hibachi steak & scallops were cold. To receive cold steak & scallops when paying $25 is unacceptable. We live less than 5 minutes from the restaurant so the food must have been sitting around awhile to be cold. The pepper tuna we ordered smelled & tasted funny. One of the rolls we ordered was overly fishy and gross. The vegetables that came with the tempura chicken were literally mushy from the grease(isn't tempura supposed to be crunchy). We spent $140 in total and before I wrote this complaint tried emailing the restaurant but got no response. They clearly don't care about us as customers to not even respond to the multiple problems with our food. Find somewhere else that cares about customers & the quality of the food! read more

I am a total fan! The food is wonderful and I absolutely love the Oak Creek Roll...I had my 32nd birthday lunch in the backroom. It was so nice to have a whole room to accomodate my guests and can hold up to 60...We even had our own waiter...Give it a chance, everyone I've brought there loves it! read more

My mom and I went here after a trip to target, we wanted to try some where different and we thought we would give this place a try. Yah, that was a bad idea. She ordered sweet and sour chicken and I got the General Tso chicken. Both dishes were incredibly bland and flavorless, even soy sauce wouldn't help. A friend recommended Lotus for their Chinese food. We ordered Kung Pao chicken and General Tso's Chicken for take-out. To put it mildly IT WAS AWFUL. The chicken tasted like it was reheated in a microwave - absolutely disgusting. We ended up throwing our food out after a few bites. It was that bad. The crab rangoon appetizer that came with the lunch special was embarrassing - there was no filling. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new sushi place so we decided on Lotus. The service was very good and our waitress was very attentive and friendly - it always helps when they tell you which roll is which when you get it, too. However, I found that a couple rolls had a hint of moldy taste to them (it was the rock-n-roll and only 2 pieces had the weird taste, so I'm not sure what it was). Also, the sushi was pretty expensive for how much they give you. I still prefer Shogun in Racine, where they tell you on the menu exactly how many rolls you will get and you know the portions will be good. Overall, the rest of the sushi was pretty good but the portions were small for the price and a couple pieces had a funky taste. I got a piece of the tuna by itself and half tasted great and half tasted like sulfur. I probably won't be going back soon as I can get better sushi in Racine & Kenosha. read more

Lotus serves a variety of Chinese food, along with sushi, pad thai, and other popular Asian dishes. The service is fast and friendly and they serve their tea in a variety of charming cast iron and stoneware teapots. (Usually a nice oolong tea, not the watery green tea you get at some places.) There is usually calm instrumental music playing and I've even had them alter a dish for me to make it vegetarian. (It was delicious, and man, there are not a lot of places to really eat as a vegetarian in the South Milwaukee/Oak Creek area.) I go there pretty regularly for a calm, quiet dining experience. Lotus used to be our favorite sushi restaurant on the far southside of Milwaukee, but lately the place seems to be circling the drain. Twice now they have served us imitation crabmeat sushi in their so-called chef's choice sushi dinner which is $24.00. Kinda pricey if you ask me! We won't be going back. read more
