The smokehouse has large seating on the ground floor and event space on the upper. There are lots of tables and booths to seat any party size, they also take reservations. We went with 6 people and all around us were groups. The main area seems to be able to sit 50+ at least. Service staff are great, they refill and provide all the containers you'll need to get going. We ordered the Family Deal and couldn't finish. Most people have take out bags when they leave. It's that type of place. - we got the 1 lb pulled pork, 6 smoked chicken wings, beef brisket, and full rack of ribs - mac & cheese, red beans & rice, dilly coleslaw - sweet potato fries, and tater tots It took about 30+ mins for the food to come out since they needed to put everything together. We finished maybe 40% of it. The rest were another two meals at home. Over the years, the price has gone up considerably, but the quality and quantity is still a great value. Definitely bring a group and any visitors from out of town. From previous visits their pig tails, sausage are also great. My favorite is the ribs, mac & cheese, red beans & rice, and the tater tots though. But on a trip back from Cleveland to Buffalo, we were hungry and looking for well-recommended places in Erie and the absolute hidden gem that is Chippers is what Yelp found for us. (Thanks, Yelp!) Chippers is an excellent assemblage of deliciously crispy fried things featuring seafood and chicken but also a surprisingly robust vegetarian slate. I ordered inside, was given a 20-minute estimate, wandered Erie for a bit, picked up the very-reasonably priced order, and we drove down to the waterfront to eat. I would and probably will stop back in Erie just for this experience. It's the bomb, as the kids used to say 25 years ago. Notes: 1) the collards and batter for fried items (the fried tomatoes are killer, btw) were approved by my partner, a confirmed Southerner--they do good things with seasoning to make food that often seems phoned-in at other places truly delicious; 2) the employees told a homeless guy that he couldn't come in at just that moment and then went out of their way to explain that they had nothing against homeless people or him specifically, but that he had caused problems and so they placed some boundaries on him. (They gave him the cup that he was asking for shortly thereafter.) I found it refreshing and wonderful that they were concerned that a customer might expect them to act with decency and compassion towards the less-fortunate rather than thinking a customer would simply want them to make that situation go away. We ordered a pound of mussels with garlic sauce, crawfish with lemon pepper sauce, and a fish teriyaki dish with seafood assortment. I loved the garlic sauce, as it gave the mussels a great kick. I wouldn't recommend the crawfish, as they don't have much meat. I felt like I was just nibbling the shells for the sauce. However, the fish teriyaki was a solid choice. Overall, it was a filling and tasty meal, and it came out to less than $20 per person. With so few customers in the restaurant, service was relatively prompt, but I would recommend more frequent water refills, as the sauces were quite salty. We had to personally wave over the waitress in order to get water. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend Captain's Boil if you enjoy seafood like I do. Glad they opened up in London!

In Texas (God's Country), not only will the brisket be served sliced, but at the better places the offer your fatty (point) or lean (flat). The pulled brisket here was still fairly flavourful and well seasoned, but still it's like being served leftovers. For pulled pork, it's cool, brisket I'm not impressed. Sides were ok. Slaw- standard. I like it a little creamier not bad still. Potato salad was good! Cowboy beans also really true to Texas flavour. Being a slow Sunday- service was basically high school kids. Would have been nice if they put it under the broiler for a minute and added some green onion on top. Will come back in the future to try some more on their menu.

You try to do pick up and they have no "take out" spots left and refuse to make an extra sandwich for pick up. Literally every time I go there there is some issue and they are very unapologetic. Last time we were parked in front trying to get 2 sandwiches, a woman hobbled in on a cane and came out 2 min later saying they wouldn't seat her because they "had no room at the counter." This place does everything to discourage customers. Message received. I don't care how good your bbq is, chasing away customers is a silly marketing strategy. I'm out.
