Family dinner was a breeze today thanks to a promotion at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria! All it took was a quick trip to this location for pickup. Note: this location is pickup-only--there's no dine-in. To make the most of the deals, we placed two separate pickup orders and were able to score both a promotional medium deep dish and a personal deep dish in one trip. Tip #1: Mark your calendars for June--National Cheese Day is when Lou Malnati's usually runs a great promo: buy one medium pizza, get a free medium cheese pizza. My husband spotted it on Facebook, and we ordered a medium Chicago Classic ($26) with their delicious sausage and got a medium cheese pizza (valued at $22) for free. Tip #2: Always order through the Lou Malnati's app. You'll earn points and get extra perks--like a welcome offer when you sign up. We received a deal for a free personal deep dish or small thin-crust pizza (with a $10 minimum purchase), valid for 14 days. We used that reward to place a second order for personal deep dish Chicago Classic ($12.95) and a personal deep dish Sausage ($12.20), and the app applied the $12.95 credit to our subtotal. I had expected it to apply the lower amount, but actually applied the higher amount which was great. Tip #3: When placing your order in the app, it defaults to in-store pickup. If you want curbside, you'll need to log into your account on a browser to update the order and switch it to curbside pickup. It's a little workaround, but it will work for you if you needed to just stay in your car. The only downside was the curbside pickup experience. After arriving and marking "I'm here" in the app, nothing happened--the app didn't indicate anyone was coming so we waited a few minutes and called the store and they said they will come out. They were friendly and quick so we had a good experience on this run. I do wish this location offered dine-in, but it's a smaller space and currently set up for takeout only. Overall, today was a win. Thanks to Lou's promos, we had enough deep dish to feed our family of six. We finished one medium deep dish pizza in one sitting and still had a medium and 2 personal deep dish pizzas for leftovers (this week's lunch is set!). I have given this place two chances and their subpar customer service has been awful both times. Rude and disrespectful to customers for no reason. Went back. The key to this location (for me) is to stick to the thin crust. They do it right. I love the hot honey pizza. The other week we were in there to pick up our pizzas and and there was an unruly customer demanding their order and even throwing someone else's pizza order on the floor which required multiple staff members to come up front to assist, and as a result our 3 pizzas had to be remade because they got burnt. Not only did the manager re-make us new pizzas - they also gave us a certificate for 3 additional pizzas due to that customer's ripple effect on their staff and delay in the order. Last night is was on a large thin crust...cheese and sausage...instead it was only 1/2 sausage!!! 350 for extra cheese ...was not cheezy at all....and the last 3 times the crust tasted like card board...use to be so good. This restaurant has outstanding customer service!! I ordered a deep dish pizza for deliver and the doordash driver ruined my pizza. He pulled it out of the bag to hand it to me and didn't keep it level (literally pulled it out at a 45 degree angle) causing everything to shift to one side. When I contacted Lou Malnati's, they made a new pizza for me for free (which I picked up). They then sent me an email with a $35.00 coupon towards any future purchases. The driver did NOT work for Lou Malnati's. He was a door dasher. Therefore Lou Malnati's had no recourse with the driver. Not only did they have to eat the cost of a 2nd pizza for me, but they also sent me a $35.00 coupon because they care about their customers. If it wasn't for Lou's being so dang good, I'd Never come back to this location. Super slow customer service, time frames for pick up 10-20 mins off. Not to mention the 10-15 mins waiting on hold I get short staffed but then I show up and it's not correct so, it's gonna be another 5-10 mins. Yikes! read more

Wow! What a disappointment. While I am not a regular Lou's customer as I am a diabetic, every once in a while I enjoy a Chicago Classic and have ordered it for many years without being disappointed. That changed today when I ordered from the Elgin, IL. location. Just looking at it when I opened it I noticed it did not look like a typical Lou's pizza, as it looked watery. I was indeed hungry and craving this pizza so I cut it and ate it. It was very unsatisfying and had no flavor at all. Each slice was limp and everything about it just did not have the flavor I craved. It seems like either Lou Malnatis as a whole is trying to save money, or this location is as it was not even close to the great Lou Malnatis flavor. Do better guys!!!!!! Placed an order for pick up and this was the second time they "lost our order." Husband had to sit and wait for 40 minutes while they made the order (which they got wrong). Make sure you call in early enough or you will wait for your pick up, They have tons of Elgin timepiece clocks on the wall honoring the City's rich history in Elgin time piece clockmaking . The pizza was perfect although it's so rich I could only eat one piece . We had an XL sausage & mushroom . To the Malnati family please open a restaurant in So Cal - preferable west LA or SFV . This is that place you go to when your partner can't pick a place to eat. When in doubt, Lou Malnati's Pizza FTW. I love going here when I'm hungry but too tired to make food but want something hot, fresh and ready in a reasonable time. Also one of my top picks whenever I'm in a pizza mood. I like their deep dish and how they cut their sausage and layer it under the tomato sauce and cheese. And if you love garlic, and I mean LOVE garlic like me, you will enjoy every bite. None of that garlic seasoning. All chopped up garlic. I was a confused about one of their pasta dish though. I ordered pasta for the first time. On their website, the description didn't mention mushrooms. So it was upsetting to find mushrooms in your pasta dish and mushrooms would have definitely been an ingredient I would have requested to be taken out. Sadly, we gave it to someone else in the house that loves mushrooms. The slices were way too big to not add that in the description. Very disappointing and hopefully they update that. read more

Today I've tried my neighborhood Lou Malnati's for the third time and for the third time I've been very disappointed. I've tried The Lou , , deep dish cheese and today the The classic and I don't know why it tastes so different but it has never tasted anything like the pizza I got at a Chicago location . Today , there are four of us eating and all of us are unhappy with the taste of the pizza. I have always enjoyed the Lou Malnati's sit down restaurants. This is the fast take out version in Carpentersville, IL. The taste is the same as well as the ingredients however the half cooking and freezing then final cooking at the satellite stores causes the pizza texture to be less than stellar. It would be ok as a $15 or less pizza for a large. At $25 it is not the same experience as fresh at the sit down restaurants. Probably will not do the take out anymore. I've had it with this place. The first time we went there the pizza I was 20 minutes late. And although the manager came out and apologized and even said that he would refund the amount of the pizza it made me feel a lot better I may be thinking that it was a one off instance. The last couple of times I have gotten a large sausage deep dish that I would hardly consider a deep dish. There is barely any cheese. Now I don't know if this is something this location or all Lou's have cut back on but to me a deep dish should be loaded with cheese whether or not you have a sausage patty on there. Lately when I call they started asking if I want extra cheese which although I don't think I should have to pay for extra I may have to start doing just to get more than a thin crust pizza amount of cheese on my deep dish. My order was taken by John who apparently doesn't know how to give you the pen to sign your check. Instead John throws the pen at the counter instead of giving it to you in your hand. I'm a fan of Lou Malnati's sit-down restaurant over in Schaumburg so I was happy to see a carry-out branch open up nearby. I ordered the large 16" thin crust sausage pizza ($14.80, $16 after tax). It was done in the quoted 30 mins. The pizza was good when hot, but it cooled fast. The crust was very thin in some parts, the thinnest I've ever seen LM's pizza before, and I've eaten it often. Cheese and sausage were okay, but not as good as I'd like or remember it being. I'd rather order from White Cottage Pizzeria for a nearby option (better sausage and cheese quality, and they also offer coupons) or just get a frozen thin crust Home Run Inn Pizza for $6. read more

Hit or miss on quality here. Most recently ordered online for a deep dish Lou with no mushrooms, extra spinach and tomatoes, and extra cooked. First and foremost- the most important thing you need to know about this location is that it is carry out and delivery only. Our experience with this particular location was through delivery. The pizza delivered was absolutely delicious, still piping hot and toppings were all great. The delivery driver arrived 15 minutes before they said they would arrive on the phone- so that was a pleasant surprise. Lou Malnati's Pizza is delicoius and has the best crust for their pizza. We will certainly order pizza from this location again now that we know it exists (advertising might help as we didn't even know Lou's had come from to Elgin). I will definitely be going back, I fully believe that my complaints were those of a new store, working out the kinks. When you order online and they give you a 5:50pm pick up time, I will give a 10 minute grace. Poor planning on your part makes you lose a customer. I always order the deep dish Chicago style pizza, but after sampling the thin crust pizza and liking it I decided to give it a try. The biggest mistake I could've made I'm still hungry. I'm not sure of what kind of cheese they used, but it was very hard and had no flavor. Also the crumbs of sausage that was on this pizza was a joke.
