This is usually one of my top choices for breakfast. The food is always good and the service is always been pleasant and efficient. The amount of food you get here is fantastic. I don't recall ever finishing my plate. The only issue I have with this diner is its popularity. Because it is such a well known and well liked diner, you may have a long wait, especially on the weekends. I love finding good diners. And I have tried many. Some have great ratings for portion sizes. Some for the taste or the friendly staff or the ambiance. Well this place has it all. Today was my 1st visit there. We were fortunate to beat the rush by about 15 minutes. When we left, there was at least 20 people waiting and more coming in the parking lot. First off, the coffee is hot and strong. Do not confuse strong with bitter. Not gourmet either, just smooth strong coffee that does what it's supposed to do. The wait staff were all friendly and efficient. I decided to try one of their specials for the day, the Blackstone omelet and a side of home made hash. The omelet came with hash browns (the stringy kind that I love). Well had I known the portions were so enormous, I would not have ordered the side of hash. And the side of hash I ordered was the half size which was still a heaping, overflowing plate full. The hash browns and my omelet shared a very large oval plate, approx 12" long, and the plate was full from end to end and side to side. But portion size is not the most important thing if the taste is not good. Well the taste was great and I devoured as much as I could The Blackstone omelet's ingredients are bacon, tomatoes, spinach, onions, cheese and hollandaise sauce. The size of the omelet was huge, but extremely well prepared. The ingredients are tasty and well prepared. The eggs are mostly egg, not watered down with too much milk in the mix Besides coming with hash browns, it also came with toast and I chose the raisin. Definitely better than average. Semi thick cut with swirls of cinnamon in it and plenty of butter If you eat at diners that are packed and popular, you know there will be noise. I love it. It adds to the ambiance. One of the only reasons I'll miss my stops in Worcester is because I probably won't get to go to Lou Roc's anymore. When I tell you this is my favorite breakfast/diner spot...I mean it. It closes at 1pm on weekends, but get there well before 1 if you want any shot of being served -- those waitresses start looking at 12:30/12:45pm to lock the doors and clock out of work! We were shut out once, and it was about 12:50pm. I've never not had a wait there. You'll stand in line, you won't put your name in, and it's on the honor system. The menu is rather extensive and I've only eaten breakfast there. I'm a creature of habit and have NEVER veered from The Fenway Scrambler -- sausage, peppers, onions, cheese, with an egg scramble, home fries and rye toast. I'm telling you -- nothing tastes better than this. You can get sweet, spicy, or a combo of sausage -- I usually fluctuate between the sweet and combo. The portions are HUGE and I nearly always take half of my meal back home -- which turns into a 3:00pm feeding in front of the TV. I haven't had such an earnest breakfast in years. A kind but fast staff works the grill and counter efficiently, cooking delicious food and making you feel like a cog in their wheel. The place runs at a high speed, but simultaneously reminds you of a more simple time. The locals meander in, call out their usuals and chatter on. The rest of us just feel the electricity of fast hands and sizzling hash on the griddle. The coffee was fresh, hot, and rich. The hash was spectacular. A lot of diners claim "homemade hash" but this place means it. The corned beef is tough, poking out of each spoonful like a reminder of its presence. Flavorful with a salty beefy mix that makes my mouth water as I write this. The onions and peppers were still crunchy, not soggy, and added bite and substance to the hash. The home fries. God help us, those fries. They're just sitting there on that griddle, cooking to a hard crunch on one side. Delicious. How can they be so soft with such crunch? Amazing! All of this with a side of homemade toast (no butter) and I was in heaven... at least for that 20minutes. TL;DR: Great atmosphere, great staff, great food. Try it! read more

Great Diner! I have been for both breakfast and lunch and I never had a bad meal. The staff is great, the food is delicious, and arrives fast, the portions are large, and the prices cant be beat. (I'm not talking last meal on earth...just the last one before a long haul at the limited cafeteria of a low-medium security prison. A meal you can enjoy for days...since you'll likely be experiencing some flavorful belching for a few anyway.) I digress. Onward ho with the review! I ordered the breakfast quesadilla with meat. HELLO MEAT. It comes with regular bacon, Canadian bacon, ham and breakfast sausage. Overkill, you might ask? Perhaps. Did I finish every bit of it? Definitely. Calories be damned. This place is great for good old fashioned Sunday morning splurging. Good luck getting a table though. We waited at least 45-60 minutes for a table around 11AM. No comment on the service. This place was very clean which is not common for diners, the service was excellent and the food wow it was incredible. I have not seen such a unique and eccentric menu in a long time in Worcester. I've been coming here my entire life. I always get the corned beef hash eggs Benedict and occasionally I will try an omelette but regardless of what you get, the portions are massive. Every time I bring home leftovers and can't even come close to finishing the food. Every meal is roughly $10-$12 so cant beat the value. Come here with an appetite and leave with a doggie bag! The portions are HUGE. And the food is quite delicious. The wait staff are super friendly ladies, loud, but fun. There was a little bit of a wait on a Wednesday morning (could be becasue of school vacation) but it was only like 5 mins or so. Anyways, I got the polish eggs benedict and home fries. The plate was smothered in kielbasa (YUM!!) and topped with the usual perfectly cooked egg over an english muffin. All was delicious. We love Lou Rocs!! We've been a few times and always get the same things!! I get a big breakfast with the homemade shredded hash browns, grilled Italian toast, and flavored pancakes/french toast! Love the breakfasts here. Sometimes I'll treat myself on a day off, sit at the counter & engage in friendly banter with the others there, other times I'll go with my daughters & sit in a booth. The food is consistent, portions are big and reasonably priced. A side a bacon is 6 slices !! Its worth the wait on the weekend if you have the time. I've never minded waiting as its always worth it. The lunch menu is filled with American classics, but I've never had a lunch there. Definitely want to try a meatloaf or turkey dinner. read more

I havent found a better diner in mass. The only downfall is on sunday mornings there will always be a wait to sit. Not sure how it is the rest of the week but im sure its always busy. Service is mostly excellent even though the waitresses are constantly busy. Food - now this is why its busy. The food is great!! Ive mainly got breakfast here and the omelettes are great, the scrambles are fantastic. The homemade corned beef hash is amazing. Loaded homefries? Yes please and thank you. The specials on the weekends are great too (stuffed french toast) and when u get something with fruit, its fresh fruit not that crap from a can loaded with syrup. I had their chili once and now thats what i get everytime im in there for lunch. Pretty damn good and u can have it spiced up with jalapeños. I also get it with a swiss and tomatoe grilled sandwich. If you're looking for an excellent diner, you can't go wrong with Lou Rocs. We happened upon this place during our road-trip (with our 3 young children.) The line was out the door, a testament to its local popularity, but it moved quickly. A friendly staff with fast service, our kids barely has time to get antsy before the food arrived. The food was reasonably priced considering the portion sizes. You may want to split a meal. Definitely try out the home-made corned beef hash, worth the extra $.50. Although the corned beef wasn't as chunky as I like, the shredded hash browns were the perfect compliment. As far as your typical diner goes, this one deserves 5 stars. read more

Yummy! The place has a very homey feel, and seems to be a place for the locals. I ordered the The Big Breakfast which came with two eggs, two sausages, two strips of bacon, toast, home fries, and pancakes. The pancakes were not unnecessarily large, and extremely fluffy. The sausages were my friend & I's favorite. The downside was that it was cash only, and I forgot to bring cash. My friend covered for me. I felt a little out of place since they were a lot of regulars. I would come back though if I'm ever in the area again. read more

After driving by over 1000 times, we stopped for breakfast. Hit damn have I been missing out! The Bad: Cash only but ATM when you walk in. The Good: No frills just straight out fantastic diner food. I ordered a homemade hash and cheese omelet and an omelet the size of a Fiat (4 door, not 2) showed up with a mountain of home fries and toast. Lou Roc's is a gem. The staff is pleasant and the food is great. It's diner food people, and if that's your thing then I doubt you'll be disappointed. I meet a friend here every month or so for lunch. The fact that it's so busy every time is indication enough that they know what they're doing. Ok...now it's been almost 2 years since I've been back to Lou's. The Goldstar is closed for the month as the owner goes back home to Greece to see his family. Alas...I gave in. Whoever was the cook before is gone I'm thinking. No hair, absolutely delicious and lots of food! I was thrilled. Believe me I was lookin' for that hair! Nowhere to be found. Well worth the line to get in. You MUST try the Italian toasted egg sandwich. Bacon, eggs and cheese in toasted thick italian bread that was so crispy and soft all at the same time..I was in breakfast heaven!! Homefries just like I love 'em. Over Christmas I went to Lou Roc's Diner with my Mom. The place was absolutely packed when we pulled in around 10:30am on a Saturday. So packed that we had to sit at the bar to be seated. I've been to Lou Roc's before and I've always ordered an omelette. This time I believe I got a Greek omelette. The food came out pretty quick and it was delish. The portions at Lou Roc's are always enormous. I couldn't even get close to finishing my omelette, it was ridiculous. Plus, with the potatoes, hoo. Our waitress was joking about being Italian with one of the other patrons - something to the extent of "My husband asks me why I even bother putting on makeup in the morning. He says, your skins so oily it just slides right off", hahaha. Loved it. Definitely my favorite diner in the West Boylston area. read more

There are few things in this world better then a counter seat, the sunday paper, and a giant stack of egg, cheese, meat, and carbs. Lou Roc's Diner could be as close to the stereotype of a great New England diner as is humanly possible. There are a few close seconds in the area, but I think the Lou Roc has it nailed. It's an old diner car style diner with a counter. It's first come, first served with no hostess. It's cash only, but they have an ATM on premises with the, to be expected, stupidly high convenience fee. The waitresses are typically great. It's a high volume place and they know how to both turn it over, and keep people happy. The food is exactly as you would expect. Great diner fare. Don't stray too far off the beaten path and you'll be just fine. Love it here. read more

I've read about it, I've heard about it, and now I can say I've experienced it for myself. We stopped in here for a mid morning breakfast the other day. It was pretty busy for a weekday but finding a table wasn't a problem. The staff was friendly, the service was great. We were greeted as we walked in. Our server came right over to take our drink order, our wait for our food was minimal. Baby B didn't have a fit till we were done and waiting for a check (as opposed to when service is slow and we can't enjoy our meal). Our meals were spectacular. I had an onion and pepper omelet and Mrs. B had scrambled eggs with basil and something else I can't remember but she said it was delish. The home fries were te best I've had in a while. Had breakfast here this morning it's the first day masks are optional so I knew it would be busy and it was. Got there around 9 so that's peak breakfast time there were like three party's ahead of us but I figured it was worth the wait and it was . We got seated about 15 minutes later but you do have to pay attention when your waiting because they weren't taking names on a list and we did get skipped over by another party, but were seated next a couple minutes later . We were seated at the counter which was fine with me and my companion, it was wicked busy and a lot of takeout orders flying out the door. They have a pretty standard diner menu with a lot of choices. We got coffee and our orders taken relatively quickly for as busy as it was. The specials menu had a lot of great options but the Italiano scramble caught my eye. So ordered that my companion ordered some food to go and just got cinnamon raisin toast to eat there. The food took a little while to come but the waitress kept our coffee full while we waited. My meal came in a togo container but that's ok it was extremely busy the waitress offered to put in on a plate but I told her it wasn't necessary and I'd probably need a container anyway because the portion was pretty big. The italiano scramble was delicious I got the Italian toast with it and it was thick cut Italian bread ( my favorite). You could get it with mild or hot sausage, I chose the hot sausage. The marinara sauce on it was really good the were plenty of pieces of sausage and peppers and onions and the cheese they used was excellent quality. My companion liked his toast and later told his takeout he got was excellent. My meal was really good and did end up taking half of it to go and enjoyed later for a late lunch. I just want to commend the kitchen staff for such good food even with a crazy busy restaurant also I think the waitress staff there were doing an awesome job despite the so many people in a kinda tight place. The waitresses knew a lot of people by name so I think that's a good sign that they have a lot of regular customers which is a good sign that it's a very good diner. I give it 5 stars because I've been here a few times and it's always really good and the staff is awesome, it's so good to see a local diner still thriving after the pandemic because the pandemic did hurt a lot of small businesses. So I say now that people are getting vaccinated and things are looking better for you to go out and dine safely, GO OUT AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES. read more

Huge portions of classic diner food at fairly reasonable prices. The menu at Lou Roc's is similar to other Worcester diners, but this is probably the most food I've ever been served at one. The quality is pretty good as well. Home fries are worth eating and the corned beef hash is home made. I strongly recommend you order something with it, it's very good the next day and you will definitely have leftovers. From the outside, Lou Roc's looks like your typical suburban business, but there is an original diner car at the core, the restaurant has just been expanded around it. The only reason I am giving this place a 3 star rating is because of the coffee and noise level. The server was friendly, welcoming, and very good. The omelet I had was made very well. The coffee tasted blah. The ambiance uh, let's just say there wasn't any, unless you like old fat men making sexist comments to the server. The noise level was ridiculous. I wasn't expecting a library setting at 8am on a Sunday morning but I had to ask my companion to repeat what they were saying multiple times and before you say anything, yes, my hearing is just fine. Not good at all. Food ok but certainly subpar. Actual building is rather badly maintained and not clean. Hoping I won't get sick. Ordered side salad and tuna melt. Salad was gigantic (neither here nor there considering it's a side salad) and reasonably fresh. Tuna melt was disappointing. Tuna was particularly fishy, and a grilled sandwich shouldn't be cold inside. And, it's a "melt". The cheese wasn't melted. All told, $15 for this and a Diet Coke.
