Food here is incredible! I got the little Louie burger and it was still enormous. Burger was juicy and cooked to perfection with crispy edges; brioche bun was fluffy and succulent. Onion rings were crisp city and to die for flavorful! It took every fiber of my self control not to order one of their milkshakes - the special was a sweet corn flavor. Corn flavor is my entire personality. Maybe next time! Service is attentive but can be a little slow because they are cooking everything from scratch. A friend and I walked into Louie's Original at 8pm and quickly placed an order for their $30 restaurant week menu: two Big Louie's with white cheddar, one waffle fry, one onion ring, and 2 fountain drinks. I've never known about Louie's Original, and was surprised by the amazing down to earth welcoming vibe - it definitely feels like it could be a neighborhood staple. The service was friendly and fast, and our buzzer went of not too long after we placed out order. The Big Louie is definitely big - the buns were nice and fluffy, with heavy juicy burgers and the white cheddar went perfectly with the secret sauce. But surprisingly the stand out was the onion rings - the waffle fries were great too, but I'm not sure what they did to the onion rings they're umami, almost dashi or furikake-esque, and with a perfect crispy batter that doesn't get soggy or fall all off the onion, and the onion inside was perfect, like a soft simmered onion thats sweet and still has just enough firmness without being sharp. I'm glad I found Louie's original, and I'll definitely be back for those onion rings and maybe a little louie next time :) read more

Got the Little Louie and regular fries and a mango hard kombucha. My boyfriend got the Big Louie and onion rings. The buns are thick here, most of my bites comprised of bun but it is quality! The fries were really good (think In N Out but better), but the onion rings were a bit too thick for my liking. The mango kombucha was citrusy but I'd like to see more drinks on the menu and seating is a little tight when big groups are in line. While I liked all the choices for fries and shakes, the burgers seemed a bit dry. Big Louie w/ American Cheese: It was indeed big! Quite filling with lots of beef and American cheese. Nice flavors. Though seemed a bit dry. Maybe they were skimpy on the sauce? Maybe it was cooked a bit too much? Maybe there wasn't enough fat % in the patty? Louie's is that neighborhood joint that you grab a burger at. It's easy to get to, and parking isn't awful. The burger is pretty tasty. I normally don't order lettuce, but felt like something fresh, and they loaded me up with the produce. It wasn't clear of a single patty was gonna be super thin like a smash burger or not so I ended up ordering a double which for me was a lot, but the two patties pretty much equal a good size burger. The burger was tasty, could've used a little bit more seasoning, and overall I would say it's a pretty decent burger. The real winner... The waffle fries! Usually not my jam, but these were perfectly made, perfectly seasoned and super tasty! I originally wanted to order the sweet potato fries, but apparently they're not on the menu any longer. The person that I ordered from said that they hadn't seen them before. Other helpers have posted pictures, which is why I was all about wanting to try them. I opted to try ( got it to go) the banana shake, which was thick, rich, and just that taste that I was looking for. I'm all about the chocolate, but I wanted to try something different, and they add fresh banana to the shakes which really makes it special. They also add graham crackers, which I wasn't really a fan of . I'm more of a purest, and would've enjoyed it just as is. The shakes are pretty pricey just as a sidenote. We stopped by here after I discovered the place on a walk with my coworker a week ago. We ordered the same thing, the Little Louie (1 Patty vs 2 in the Big Louie) except I got mine with no onions. The sauce didn't do it for me. I had to put mustard to fix it. The pickles were too sweet. And apparently the Big Sister burger is the only one that comes with tomatoes. Booo! Person who took our order was cool. The staff were good peoples so it's nothing personal. The only problem I had was they didn't fill up our drinks all the way, pouring them in a rush since they had quite a bit of folks coming in for online pick ups, etc. I had to ask for one of the drinks to be filled up all the way but when I left I saw that both were under poured. great burger!!! even though there's a lot of tough competition in SF for burgers, I would say this place is top notch, def in the top 10 (SF has a ton!). I think it's also a great place to catch a quick bite esp if you just need a little snacky. Parking is easy and service is quick considering it's a fast casual restaurant and you just order at the register. It's a small space with limited seating but depending when you go, I was able to get a seat pretty easily on a Saturday around 4:30pm. The burger patty was fresh but lacked in flavor and could've been a bit more juicy. The toppings were fresh and just perfect ratio not much and not too little. The bun was okay just meeh nothing to write home about. The service was also mid. One of the workers had a little attitude not sure why but oh well. The actual restaurant was super cute, clean and great grabbing lunch with coworkers if your in walking distance because parking is typical..very limited. Have to write another review to say that the blueberry cobbler shake (the may special flavor) is the best shake I've ever had hands down. I normally like cookies n cream type flavors, but this blueberry shake is perfect. We ordered on uber eats for pickup, and they waited until we got there to add the whipped cream and lime zest so that it wouldn't be melted. The lime zest is so fragrant and fresh especially when you're smelling it as you're drinking the shake, and the little pie crust bits add the perfect texture. Louie's is a solid burger spot and I am so glad we found you! You are now one of our go-to date night spots :) La Connessa, Magic Donut, and Louie's are all owned by the same group and they are all in the same building here. There seemed to be ample street parking when I went (~3 pm on a Saturday) but I don't know how it'd be on a friday / weekend evening for dinner. It should be fine though if you're willing to walk a block or two! For my first visit, I ordered the big louie meal (big louie, fries, and drink). I opted for the american cheese and onion rings (i/o fries). The two patties were pretty juicy and I loved the pickles. There is no tomato in the burger which was fine by me. You can also add avocado, bacon, etc. but I decided to have the burger as is! I loved the house-made brioche bun, although didn't eat all the buns because I saved a lil bit of space for a magic donut afterwards :) The restaurant itself is set up like a nicer diner and I think it would be really fun to sit at the counter while enjoying a burger and watch more burgers get cooked! Louie's Original comes from the same restaurant group as Spruce. My husband and I were very excited to try this burger place since he does have a slight obsession with the Spruce Burger. Louie's has been open for at least a year or so though, and had a mixed bag of reviews. That kind of turned us off for a bit until recently, when I started to work close to the area, and plus the reviews have improved too. Finally we gave it a go! We each got the "Big sister burger" which was $17 for a burger (Aged White Cheddar, Romaine Lettuce, Roma Tomato, Pickled Vegetables, House-Made English Muffin). This burger was extremely satisfying. It had all the right juices, flavor, and bun. It did taste similar to the Spruce burger, but also slightly different with the bun, and also a little more messy and the bun broke down a little bit more. However that being said, I think I personally enjoyed this Louie's Original burger a bit better. It is a solid burger, one I have been thinking about quite frequently. They have waffle fries, onion rings, and regular fries. The waffle fries were decent, but just not my preference. I did not care for the onion rings, which had more of a smooth batter, and they were also sweet tasting. The interior to me is a bit awkward. It seems like a fun setting with the bar seating, but there are barely any tables in the restaurant. Also, there aren't many 4-person tables, but you can push together a few 2-people tables together yourself if you want. But in addition to that, there aren't many tables at all. There were several families there on the night we went, which was fun, but also people were waiting around eyeing for tables. I'd just come early if you can.
