Historically, I have been very satisfied with my Louis Burger experiences. Not so much this last time. Aside from the food being less than what I am use to (at this location), the staff is very robotic, if not unpleasant. I think they assume they are just being efficient, but mostly they are just being typical (for them) and less than customer service friendly. My budget allows me to spend $20.00 per week to treat myself, so grabbing a burger etc is am extravagance that I have to heavily consider. This experience fell short from all aspects. read more

Went to Louie Burger, Compton today for a pastrami sandwich, fries, a spicy chicken sandwich and a drink. I waited about 20 minutes for them to bring it to the car. Unfortunately, I didn't check the bag, so when I got home, I didn't have fries. Now, I paid $25.00 for this food, so I was sure fries was charged. I called the restaurant and told them I was missing fries and would come back. When I got there they had pulled the receipt and said I didn't pay for fries. OK, maybe I should have checked my receipt that I forgot they gave me, but $25, for 3 items, really. Their customer service sucked today and it would seem that they would have been more accommodating. When I got home and looked at their online menu, their prices did not reflect what I was charged, $13.00 for a pastrami sandwich. They got me today, but thats the last. I will not go back to Louis Burger on Rosecrans in Compton. They ripped me off. read more

Incredibly loud environment with the load music playing and the servers yelling into the PA system. Coin operated toilets. Does not accept credit cards. Can accept debit card in $10 increments for a $1.00 fee (and probably a bank fee on the back end...haven't checked yet) you get your change back in cash. Turkey club was good in told. The fries were just average fries. Looked seasoned but weren't. The pastrami Burrito was HUGE and delicious ! For the area I'm thinking this is probably the spot to go. If you're visiting from out of town, this place is a MUST visit. Or if you live in Compton and have yet to come here, (have you been living under a rock?) go NOW. I've lived in Compton my whole life and my family and I have been coming to this place ever since I can remember. The food is hands down the best in town! You can't go wrong with anything off the menu. Whether you're craving their famous chili cheese fries, a mouth watering classic cheese burger, or if you're in the mood for something healthier try the tuna sandwich. The fries are so fluffy and tasty, always fresh and hot. Did I mention its all super affordable! The staff is great, super friendly and welcoming. You'll leave with a full and satisfied tummy. I grew up on their burgers and fries. It's nice to see that even years after their quality has not dipped. If you can try out the chili cheese fries or carne asada tacos. Their burgers are what you would expect from a local burger place. The only reason why I don't give it a full 5 stars is because of their drive thru. The cool thing about the Greater Los Angeles area is that there are random stand alone burger joints like this one. They all have the same general menu but the food is generally far superior to generic fast-food joints like McDonald's or Burger King. Also, in my experience, these places generally have pretty good breakfast burritos. My knowledge of this place (and the area in general) was very limited but I wanted to test the breakfast burrito rule. It had all the hallmarks of such a place - unique signage, old-style drive thru, single location. Well the rule turned out to be true once again. For about 5 1/2 bucks I got a huge burrito which weighed almost a pound and a half and was chock-full of scrambled eggs, sausage, potato, ham, and general awesomeness. It was way more than I should have been able to eat. In fact it was probably enough for at least three separate meals. But I finished it anyway and didn't eat for the rest of the day. Chili cheese fries extra chili!! That's my favorite here. This is your typical burger stand but it's one of the best. The patties are kind of thin on the burgers but it is what it is. Their salads are good also. The chicken salad comes with two breast and they're seasoned perfect. You have a wide variety on the menu so you can always find something that you like. Bottom Line: Never going back. Food sucks. Service sucks. Detailed report: Food: Got the pastrami burger. It was overly salted and overly soggy. It was tasty at first but then with every bite the salt just started to burn my tongue. Russian dressing is good but what is it that leaves a pool of liquidy water mess in the wrapper and turns the burger to mush half way through the meal? Is the lettuce wet? The dressing too liquidy? I dont know, but you need to figure it out so it stops happening. Portions are huge but gross. So whats the point? Chili fries are enormous! A whole huge take-out box of fries and super oily chili. The oil begins to quickly pool up at the top and it begins to soak into every single fry in the box until you think youre eating soggy orange sponges of oil with no flavor. The chili itself really has no flavor to it except the overuse of black pepper. Tommys and the Hat have waaaaay better chili fries. Service: Totally unfriendly. This is such a Compton food landmark and if you didn't eat Louis when you were in Compton you didn't have a trip to Compton. Those are the rules lol they're mostly known for their chili cheese fries which some people add pastrami to but I love it without. I always get the chili cheese fries with extra crispy fries and onions with a side of ranch. If you do not request the fries to be extra crispy, they will be soggy by the time you drive out of the drive through. Ok but like one of the most underrated things here is their breakfast! People are going to hate but if you like a local truck go breakfast then this is the place for you. We love the pancakes more than the French toast because they're so fluffy. The servings are huge.
