Stood at the door (3empoyees walked by) no acknowledgement after almost 10 minutes standing there we were seated, another 10 of no acknowledgement- just as we are getting ready to leave a sweet lady comes by to take our order. Louis' Cafe is a hidden gem in Golden! I had heard about it before but finally made my way over to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. First off, the prices are excellent! Almost everything is under $10. The food was great for the price. It wasn't anything super fancy, typical diner food which was fine because it was at a good price point. I got a sausage breakfast burrito with green chili in the side. The chili was great and they did not skimp on the sausage! The restaurant is definitely in a random location so you kinda have to know about it. The service was super quick and friendly. I got a free muffin for checking in on Yelp....they heated up in the microwave so as soon as I cut it in half it turned almost rock hard so maybe don't get it heated up. This is a newly discovered bfast place. New but I'm already a fan! It's located in a building next to a few Eye, ears , nose clinics. Clean, simple but nice decor. Tasty awesome good. I finally found a restaurant that serves Beef liver with onions that you can order anytime. Menudo during the weekdays too! Heaven! But of course if you know Menudo; especially the good ones they run out of quickly. So give them a ring before you drive over. Fast service and they have my Banana Cream pie! Hubby and I are always trying to find new spots for breakfast - this one was really good. He's a traditional breakfast type of guy, and I'd rather eat lunch instead of breakfast half of the time, so this was perfect for us. Everyone was very nice and it filled up pretty quick. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steaks and eggs. The chicken fried steak was really good, and the gravy was decent. His eggs were cooked perfectly. He orders them over medium, but for some reason one always comes out over hard. LOL They were both over medium here, so he was happy. I ordered the relleno breakfast plate that came with 2 chie rellenos, eggs, hashbrowns, beans, and a tortilla. I usually judge a Mexican restaurant on their beans, rice, and/or salsa. Louis' has really good re-fried beans....they taste like my dad's re-fried beans. So good! The hash browns weren't as crispy as I like them and the green chile wasn't super spicy, but everything had good flavor. I was eyeballing another table's pancakes and they looked pretty good. Our group had huevos rancheros, chorizo and fajita omelets, and eggs, sausage and pancakes for the less adventurous. Most dishes had hash Browns which were more like country potatoes. Excellent. I ordered the denver skillet with pancakes and it included ham, onions, green peppers and cheese with two overeasy eggs plus hashbrown potatoes. After the Coors Brewery tour we ate here. Both the hubbs and me ordered the chicken fried steak. Not sure how mine was put in as chicken fried chicken but I ordered chicken fried steak. Went Sunday, first visit. There were 4 of us. Wet got seated immediately. I had the chili relleno and eggs. It also came with potatoes, beans and two pancakes. It was excellent. The others had skillets. They were excellent. The food hit our table within 14 minutes of ordering. Service was good, very hard working staff. My meal was only 8.95. A great simple breakfast place where you can get quality sausage gravy soaked biscuits, homemade baked goods, pancakes, and all the standard breakfast fare that your grandparents cooked when you came to visit. It is no frills, though they do have an espresso machine so you can get more than the standard diner coffee with your breakfast. They do have outdoor seating when the weather is good. Every time I've been here, it has been about 1/2 to 3/4 full, always on a weekend morning, so we have gotten seated right away. It is right behind the Jefferson County office building and courthouse so it could be super busy during the week - I have no idea having never stopped in on a weekday. The service is always super friendly and the food comes SO fast (we just got our food in under 5 minutes from ordering... crazy!) tldr; if you like traditional breakfast fare in a no frills environment with great service, give this place a try!
