From the second that we arrived, the service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive. Went here once for valentines day and was very satisfied with the food and service wven though the cost was higher. My husbands and I first time visiting this establishment. With Covid I was a little apprehensive about eating out again. I was pleasantly surprised. The host and waitress all wore masks. In addition we sat on the beautiful patio which even has fans to help circulate air. And the tables were socially distanced. Our waitress was extremely nice. And have really good suggestions. What an interesting gem in the heart of downtown. It's unassuming from the outside, but inside is an upscale downtown restaurant. Since it's new, it wasn't very busy on a Saturday evening, although there was a steady flow of traffic. We started the meal with the cauliflower appetizer, which was interesting. The cauliflower was breaded with a tangy sauce, while the cauliflower itself appeared to be steamed or something. The textures were interesting, and it was delicious. I had the grapefruit and arugula salad which was tart, bright, and light. It's a good palate cleanser. For our main course we had the scallops and Israeli couscous. The scallops were delicious. The special of the evening was a mahi mahi dish served over couscous with a mango sauce. The fish was slightly over cooked making it a little dry although I'll admit it had a beautiful color to the surface. It was plated like a professional. Service was good, our waitress was very attentive. It was quiet inside making it nice for a romantic date night. Stop in and try it for yourself. read more

So this was not a good experience in Springfield IL. I found this place on Yelp, saw pretty nice reviews and 4.6 stars so we decided to go there for dinner. When I walked there it looked pretty empty, and we asked for table for 5. The girl from front desk said to give her a minute. We said ok sure. Then some other lady said they have no available tables and will not have today. At all. I mean how is that even possible? FOR ALL NIGHT? It's 7:30pm. We came from Chicago where places are getting booked right away, and they will always find you a table , even if you will need to wait for 3 hours. And here no tables available even if it's pretty empty? In my whole life I never had situation like this. They said "sorry guys" NOT GOOD! read more

Our first meal out since the pandemic hit had a lot to live up to as it was also to be the celebration of our 20th anniversary. This restaurant was more than I hoped for and the meal was indeed memorable. The staff was as close to perfection as I have ever experienced, which is why this is a 5 star review. Everything was wonderful, but my wife loved the calamari and her scallops were excellent. I had a beautiful raspberry champagne salad, the peach bruschetta and the pea gnocchi. I will be dreaming of that gnocchi every time I want comfort food elevated to a fine-dining level. You will not be disappointed in the service, the food or the joy of being out again. The prices are incredibly reasonable, which was a surprise and very appreciated. Oh my goodness. One final word-DESSERT. Save room. My favorite restaurant in Springfield! Came here for lunch on my 30th birthday. I tried the salmon BLT at the waiter's recommendation - sounded unusual at first but fell in love at the first bite. Perfectly sweetened with glaze and tangy with the honey mustard. My wife had the steak salad and the steak was cooked to perfection with a nice savory dressing. She told us that everything was made fresh in house and you can definitely tell. I got the salmon tacos and my husband got the scallops, both we're delightful. This was our first time at Loukinens' on 4th and heard wonderful things. Our experience was however, not as wonderful - When we got to the restaurant- the hostess was very kind and two of our eight party was delayed by 15-20 mins. Another person came up to us and was extremely rude about the delay of one couple & was threatening to cancel our reservation. Mind you no one else was waiting and tables were open besides our reserved table. She decided to seat us to be "nice" and once the rest of our party arrived - their lateness was mentioned a few times. It was very rude and furthermore, we did not even get our order of food taken for another hour (thus implied to us that our table was not reserved after us) Throughout our experience, tables were open and there was no reason for this. It made our experience quite poor and not likely to return. The food itself was great and the chef & our waiter was kind. read more

We had the best dining experience at Loutkinen's a couple of nights ago. We brought our three-year-old and five-year-old out for a birthday party, and I could not rave about the staff more. The staff took excellent care of our party and especially our girls. They had small toys to hold over a five-year-old and a three-year-old was outstanding. We were unable to get a babysitter for the night so I was kind of dreading bringing my small children, but I couldn't have been happier. Not to mention, per the usual, the food was out of this world.
