They rarely pick up the phone and when they I do, I usually hold for 5 minutes. I actually got in my car and drove to restaurant and was still on hold. I would have to say its a must have for any first timer or if you haven't tried it, I hope you'll being ordering the chicken soup next time around. It's helped me with my hangover last night. They serve you two warm tortillas as well. The business has been expanding to 3 locations now and I think that speaks for itself. I've tried a taco and a CA burrito there as well. Both are pretty good. I would say the taco is slightly better. They are in a great location. From sitting inside, you have a nice look that's almost unrestricted to a view of the ocean. Chips were ok, guac was blah, carnitas tacos were way too salty and the amount of toppings quickly overwhelmed the tortilla resulting in a heck of a mess. I've been here a few times. The Chilaquiles and California Burritos are pretty good, and the Mole Burrito is absolutely wonderful on days that reach the colder end of San Diego weather. My whole family likes this taco shop, but one day they forgot my son's dinner and when we got to the beach and realized we didn't have it, we called and they said next time your in, let us know and we will make you a new meal. So, one month later, we go in and they tell me they won't reimburse me because I don't have a receipt. I told them my story and they said, sorry that's our policy. I asked to speak to a manager and she went over to kitchen window said a few words in Spanish and then told me the manager was too busy to come out and talk to me. They lost our business over a $4 order. The woman at the counter was very rude, like I was lying about the whole story and when the manager won't take the time to come out and talk to you.....that is just bad business. My boyfriend and I came to Lourdes on a Thursday afternoon and tried their chicken soup, chicken tacos, chicken flautas, and Carne Asada burrito. I've never had chicken flautas before but I know I will be returning to Lourdes every chance I get to get some more! Even tho I was so full I could not put down the burrito! The food was amazing and it seemed like all the customers felt the same way... We could hear everyone around us raving about their food and complementing the owner. Out of all the food we tried its hard to pick a favorite item! I highly recommend the chicken flautas and of course... you have to try the chicken soup! YUM!!!! Would give 0 stars if possible. How does anyone here give 4 stars to this horrible excuse for Mexican food. The guacamole tasted like it came from a cafeteria somewhere in Arkansas. The beans I'm pretty sure was dog food and the rice had no flavor. Less than an hour from the border with food this bad is a joke. But hey, people go there and seem to like it. This place was casual, quick and delicious. We came in with kids 14 and 11 and had the caldo de pollo, an al pastor burrito, a breakfast burrito and a chicken quesadilla. The salsas were excellent, the soup was delicious. The pastor burrito was loaded with flavor and huge. Highly recommend to eat in or to go. read more

They serve the soup in the waxed cup/bowl (inner layer coated with wax) and wax melts with a hot soup. This is totally against a Health laws. They do all this to save few bucks. Not good. If you like to eat wax, this is the best place. read more

Lourdes has always been my go to for machaca breakfasts. I had the worst breakfast I have had yesterday. Meat was fat, grissely and had the vein tubes running thru it. was disgusting. I had lunch at Lourdes on a recent trip to the San Diego area, and I found it to be a fairly typical Mexican spot with great views of the beach nearby. The restaurant itself had a vague Mexican feel to it, mainly due to the exposed beams in the ceiling, with all the usual surf-and-sand decor adorning the walls. It was a fairly small place, but with its ocean views, I could easily see myself looking out from its windows and watching the sun set over the Pacific. Lourdes fare was fairly typical Mexican-American street food - lots of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas, with a few more substantial dishes thrown in for those wanting a slightly more upscale meal, such as the caldo de pollo and the steak ranchero. As I wasn't profoundly hungry, I ordered a relatively light meal, consisting of two shrimp tacos, a chile relleno, some refried beans, and the almost obligatory basket of chips, with salsa from their small but tidy salsa bar. Lourdes had some good salsas, and I especially enjoyed their Sonoran salsa, which had both an interesting tang and a spicy kick. However, the chips were a little boring - probably the usual, nondescript, restaurant-grade chips that most Mexican restaurants purchase from an array of vendors. After about ten minutes, the rest of my meal arrived. By and large, it was all right, but very safe and middle-of-the-road, so that it wasn't particularly memorable, either. The chile relleno was the usual large chili pepper that had been stuffed with Monterey jack, battered with egg, then fried and served with a fairly standard ranchero sauce. It was executed properly, so that the egg batter adhered to the chile pepper and the Monterey jack was melted through; however, I could have found this exact same dish at hundreds of other Mexican restaurants in the area... The same could be said for the shrimp tacos, with their tangy sauce and shrimps that were tasty enough, even though they were a bit smallish and probably pre-frozen. The refried beans were almost an afterthought, and tasted like a certain popular canned brand that had been thinned down with water and then heated through. Service at Lourdes was friendly enough, and its location just off the beach in Encinitas can't be beat, but the food here was just OK - not bad, but not exciting enough to have you dancing on the tables (or at least tweeting about it to all of your friends). If you happen to be spending the day at Encinitas State Beach, then it's a convenient enough spot to pick up some food at reasonably decent prices. Otheriwse, I'd pass on it - there are so many other great Mexican restaurants in the area that this one just isn't worth going out of your way for. I'm giving Lourdes Mexican Restaurant a ho-hum rating of 3/5 stars. read more

Think I only had three bites that had meat in it. Kinda on the pricier end for what your getting. There's much better options close by. read more
