June- the best girl and LoveLeo adoption!
    Alison H.

I love LoveLeo. We've adopted two dogs from them! Sasha is brilliant at matchmaking the right dog to the right family. And we love how much the fosters know about the dog prior to us adopting them. They are awesome - highly recommend. I've also connected them with my mom, and Sasha helped her find the perfect dog as well. Love LoveLeo!

Love Leo Rescue is an excellent organization that really takes the time and care necessary to find and place dogs in the perfect forever home. I consider myself lucky to be a small part of the process as one of their fosters. Love Leo does more than just place dogs into homes. They rely on an comprehensive application process to find the right fit based on breed, lifestyle, family size, and a number of other factors. They truly put in the work to find the right forever family. Not only do they take in strays, owner surrenders, and shelter dogs, they also bring in dogs from Mexico and overseas to help give them a better life. Their dedication to clearing the shelters extends to hosting community spay and neuter programs in areas that may not have affordable access to vets. All dogs that pass through Love Leo get the same treatment and also have access to a session with a trainer to set them up for success. If you are looking to add a new four legged member to your family or are thinking about fostering like me, this is the place to start! They regularly post available pets on social media and accept applications even if you don't have a specific dog in mind. *During Covid, all meet and greets are done outdoors and home checks conducted virtually for everyone's safety.

Animal Care…read morewears a person out so it's understandable but the staff was more than willing to show me around and tell me about the shelter. It's an extension of the PD so their campus isn't huge, and they have one building of dogs and a room (plus a quarantine room) for cats. They're half police and half animal control essentially so they have to respond to field calls as well as keep up the facility. For all that work they still have welcoming attitudes. That's one of the biggest complaints I hear working at the shelter is no one cares and staff is unsympathetic. Not so here. Not when I came on a Saturday eve anyway. As I said it's a small spot for a small city. Santa Monica has better government than LA, not in small part due to the land area they cover, quantity wise and demographic wise. My biggest gripe about LA is it's too big which is why gov is so inefficient. It needs to be broken up into more smaller cities. Right now we just have SaMo, culver city, and WeHo with proper municipal status basically. This whole city is like 10 more cities to me. But I digress. Good shelter, as good as one can be given how low a priority it is at city hall.

But despite this and the recent negative reviews, I went anyway. There needs to be more oversight with this particular facility. The people there clearly do not know what they're doing, are very unprofessional, unorganized, and rude. I adopted a kitten who was still quite sick, despite being reassured several times that she had recovered. They adopted me out a cat was too small to get spayed, and did not have her first round of shots. I have had to make several appointments with them, missing work in the progress, all because of their lack of organization, communication, and professionalism. It's tough writing a review like this because I understand that it might affect other people visiting this humane shelter and adopting out beautiful animals that deserve a home, so I hope this reaches someone in charge and they rethink who is running this facility.

The staff here is always kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. They consistently go above and beyond -- from answering my questions to carrying heavy bags of litter out to my car. What I love most is that they only carry premium-quality products. You won't find low-end brands like Friskies here -- and that's exactly why I shop at Centinela. I care deeply about what I feed my cats, and I trust the quality of the food, treats, toys, beds, and everything else they offer. Another bonus: they frequently have member-only specials (membership is free -- you just sign up with your email or phone number). Sometimes it's 20% off frozen food, other times 30% off all food -- it's always a pleasant surprise, and I like to stock up during those sales. This store truly has everything you need, and the personalized service makes it even better. On top of that, it's a locally owned business, not a big corporate chain like Petco or PetSmart. Supporting Centinela means supporting a small, community-based store -- and that's something I'm proud to do. I absolutely love this store and can't recommend it highly enough. If you care about your pets and want quality products with warm, personal service, Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies is the place to go.

It was the best day I can remember In a long while, it was so enjoyable to be of service and productive. I have a long history, it's been a decade volunteering on and off with Karma Rescue. But I'm Not here toot my own horn. Previously Karma provided animal adoptions and I adopted two of my sweetest dog friends from Karma. Karma has always been kind and wonderful with their volunteers and the wonderful animal services they provide to our fur friends. Currently, they provide spay and neutering services to low income communities. At low to zero cost. Which esp, for many animals keeps them safe and extends their lifespans. It's a truly special place with the perfect balance of active play and restful downtime. The free-range setup lets the dogs move between indoor and outdoor spaces as they please, giving them the flexibility to play, explore, or relax. Before we found this place, other daycares left my dog anxious and reactive. She'd come home barky, and at drop-off, she'd hesitate or pull away. But from the moment we started at SM Animal Kingdom, everything changed. She doesn't even look back when I drop her off now--she runs in, tail wagging, totally excited. And when I pick her up? She's calm, happy, and that perfect kind of tired that tells me her day was full of fun, play, and love. It's also helped her become incredibly socialized and comfortable around dogs of all sizes--especially big dogs, which used to be an issue. I don't know what their magic is, but I think it's just a genuine love and deep understanding of dogs that's helped her mature confidently within a positive pack setting. I'm beyond grateful my neighbors recommended them. I really appreciate the daily report cards and photos, also. Super thoughtful. These negative reviews are shocking as I've had nothing but a great experience working with Venita!…read moreI emailed to inquire about adopting one of the Ragdolls that they had rescued from a breeder. Venita was always prompt with her responses and was very transparent when telling me about the cats. I filled out the application and scheduled a day to meet her at their vet where she was bringing two cats that she was allowing me to choose from. She was lovely during our meeting and I decided on a Ragdoll named Tina, now Harmony. She had some medical issues, a cloudy eye that would never heal and one kidney that is smaller than the other. All of which she was transparent about and gave me all of her vet records. My only regret is that I didn't adopt the other girl she brought with her but as I had two cats and a dog at home, I thought it was too much. Even after the adoption Venita was still great with answering questions via text. My new girl is a bit crazy and a bully so I reached out to see if she had any advice. She was always so gracious and offered lots of advice. Some months later I saw she had rescued some exotic kittens and I inquired about adopting one so she would have a kitty more her age and take the heat off my older boy. Venita was very honest and expressed she would be a bit concerned as kittens are fragile and if Harmony wasn't bullying my boy then she would've gladly adopted one to me but she didn't think the fit was right. I completely understood and respected her decision. I have since adopted a Balinese elsewhere, he is even crazier than Harmony but she has calmed some lol. I reached out to her a few months back when someone on IG reached out to me asking if I could adopt their Persian as he was leaving the country. While I couldn't, I text Venita to see if she'd be open and she responded immediately and said she would. The man wound up finding a relative to take the cat but Venita was ready to rescue that baby. These negative reviews sound pretty ridiculous to me. First people are busy and may not always respond especially when there is an overwhelming response, don't take it personal. Then one where she wanted to fix a cat with behavioral issues, well coming from one who has two like this, you don't fix them. I would've denied her too. Then the race thing, what? Venita did not know my race via email nor did she ask. She didn't look at me as if I was unworthy and she was nothing but professional and courteous. I think some people just get upset because they can't take rejection. Trust me, if you are denied it's for good reason!

I grew up with Persian cats all my life and as far as my experience with them goes, they need to be treated as queen. Comes with a territory!! Lots of these kitties have gone through really harsh experiences before being rescued by this team. I think this rescue team also is very much concerned about the way the cats be treated after adoption and trying to carefully choose among so many great applicants. For sure, that is not an easy thing to do.
