Selection was a bit limited although I went an hour before closing. I got a Korean sugar donut…read more(spiral), two pastries with sausage in them. Super good when heated up. Not too salty or bland. I got a fresh red bean paste pastry. SUPER fresh. I reached towards the back. The bread was very fluffy and soft. The bean paste was fresh and not too sweet. The ice pistachio matcha was recommended and new by the cashier. He was right! He mentioned how he puts 1 pump instead of 3 and there was a very very small amount of sweetness. If u don't want sweet, do 1 pump. The topping and foam adds some sweetness. Small/regular size was a perfect amount. I paid about $20 for 4 pastries and a regular drink. The inside was spacious but only seating along the opposite wall. Bathroom is clean.

Very disappointing experience at Tous Les Jours today…read more The service was extremely rude. The cashier (long black hair) she had an unfriendly attitude from the start--no greeting, no smile, and it felt like she was already irritated. What made it worse was how both the cashier and the owner spoke to me. They raised their voices instead of helping. There was a promotion for 3 bakery items for $5. I accidentally selected 7 items instead of 6, and I clearly told them multiple times that I only wanted 6 and did NOT want the extra item. Instead of fixing a simple mistake calmly, they kept raising their tone at me, which was unnecessary and uncomfortable. As a customer, I expect basic respect and professionalism. This situation could have been handled politely in seconds, but instead it turned into a negative experience. I won't be returning, and I hope management seriously works on customer service.

I would avoid this establishment…read more I called on 1/27 at 12:40 PM to order vegan cupcakes for my son's birthday. The employee, Tim, told me they had 6 vanilla and 6 chocolate vegan cupcakes available. I requested 4 chocolate cupcakes, and he said I would need to prepay and that they would be ready in 15 minutes. I was surprised they could be prepared that quickly, but went along with it. We picked them up about 30 minutes later and brought them home. That evening, my son tried one and it was extremely hard, with grainy frosting. Overall, the cupcake tasted terrible. We didn't eat the remaining three and left them in the box. The next day, I returned to the shop to share my concerns and was told Tim would call me back. He did call and said they had tried a cupcake and felt it tasted fine. He also told me that I may not know what vegan cupcakes taste like. I didn't argue, but I've had plenty of vegan desserts before, and they've never been this inedible. He then explained that the batter used was leftover from a cake made a week earlier and that it's common practice for them to freeze batter and make cupcakes later. I was surprised to hear this. More disappointing was that there was no attempt to make things right or offer any solution--only to explain why they wouldn't provide a refund. I told him that was fine, but that I wouldn't be returning or recommending their shop and would be sharing my experience. If you're looking for vegan options or any dessert options and decent customer service, there are plenty of other places in the area. I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I come from a long line of cooks and bakers and it is not often I eat other's preparations. I am…read morevery particular when it comes to the cleanliness of the kitchen and utensils, the quality of the ingredients and the love that goes into that preparation. That said, with things going on in my life, I don't always have the time to bake like I want to. When I need something and I don't have the time to do it, then I usually go to a brick and mortar bakery. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a mutual Facebook friend running a baking business out of her home (https://www.facebook.com/MissKittysTreats). For most of you that have read my reviews, you know I am a big supporter of local businesses. Back in February I discovered that Miss Kitty was doing cakes, so I ordered one from her for Valentine's Day, a lovely chocolate mocha coconut cake with ganache and espresso. Well that did not go so well. The cake arrived as planned and looked beautiful, but The Doctor was admitted into the hospital for a triple bypass. We eventually got home to try the cake about two weeks later, and it was very good. But as a baker, I knew that cake would have been a whole lot tastier if we had it on VD. Fast forward to our anniversary and we got the same cake to have at home as dessert with The Queen. OMG! The flavors were so amazing and the cake was so moist. For you folks that like a lot of frosting, you get it here. I myself don't do a lot of frosting, but I know most people do like it. I am that person who scraps off frosting from cupcakes and Cake, but Miss Kitty's frosting combined with the cake was sublime. Ain't gonna lie, I did take come off :-) Still delicious AF. This weekend Miss Kitty made donuts: Cinnamon sugar apple cider, Carmel apple cider, Strawberry Dreams, Pumpkin Spice, "Fun size " candy bars: coconut chocolate almond (With nuts or without ) and snickers not snickers, Classic vanilla/chocolate Halloween theme I am not a pumpkin girl, so Miss Kitty was nice enough to swap them out for the coconut chocolate almond donuts. I am a sucker for chocolate and coconut and the thought of eating an Almond Joy cake donut was too much for me. These are supposed to be for a birthday celebration tonight, but I had to try the coconut chocolate almond one. Yeah that was so good, so so good. I am trying not to eat another one...good luck with that. Miss Kitty is operating out of her home, but takes orders and delivers to your home. Check out her Facebook page to see what tasty treats she is offering and place an order today. Years from now, when she is a multi-million $$$ donut queen, I will be able to say I knew her when she was dropping off donuts and cakes to me.

So I went to Jarosch bakery this morning at their NEW location at 111 Higgins Road, about a block…read moreto the left of their original address. And the new digs look outstanding. I went in early this morning, before 7am, to pick up some paczkis, their awesome cinnamon raisin bread and my dad's favorite, the Swedish Flat. And we weren't disappointed. So the front counter space is big. Their inside space to wait is, I believe, a little bit bigger compared to their old location. They still have their shelving in there with kolaczkis, assorted breads and pre-boxed paczkis. They are still getting everything together from their move and they didn't have a lot of pazckis available, which is ok because we aren't at Fat Tuesday yet amd last year you could place an order for them online. But their customer service is great as usual, and customers leave with smiles on their faces. I asked one of the employees there how have the longtime customers taken to the new building and she said so far it's been a mix. I love the new place and can't wait to see how they perform when they are all don't acclimating to their new home. Also, they have a awesome looking espresso machine but it isn't up and running when I was there. Thanks for being able to replace my hole in my heart when our local bakery closed a ling time ago.

Jarosch Bakery is one of those classic, old-school bakeries that's been serving the Chicago suburbs…read morefor decades, and you can tell the moment you walk in. It has that traditional neighborhood bakery feel with display cases full of cookies, donuts, pastries, breads, and cakes. The bakery has been around since 1959 and is known for making many of its items from scratch, which really shows in the quality. Jarosch Bakery +1 The selection is impressive. Their butter cookies, coffee cakes, sweet rolls, and donuts are standouts, and everything looks fresh and carefully made. If you're picking up dessert for a gathering or ordering a custom cake for a celebration, this is the kind of bakery that has built a reputation for doing those things really well. The place can get busy, especially around holidays, but that's usually a good sign that people keep coming back. Prices are a bit on the higher side compared to grocery store bakeries, but the quality and traditional baking make it worth it. Overall, Jarosch Bakery is a great spot if you appreciate classic bakeries that focus on fresh, scratch-made pastries and desserts. It's the kind of place that feels like a local tradition.
