Having talked up Love on the Blu so much, a friend wanted to try it out. So, I returned one Sunday morning to meet my friend. Upon walking through the door, Terrence, my server from the first visit, told me that I had left my baseball cap. Sure enough, I had, so it was a good thing that I went back. I ordered the French toast flight. That came as individual half slices of strawberry, blueberry, lemon, and caramel French toast. French toast isn't all that big to me, but when it's good, it's good. Love on the Blu made it very good. I had eggs scrambled with cheddar and cheesy hashbrowns. Both were good options to go with the French toast. My friend ordered salmon croquettes, eggs, and cheesy hashbrowns. She mentioned that the croquettes tasted like they had Cajun seasoning in the recipe. I was finally able to catch this restaurant open (they have odd business hours) and decided to give it a try. My initial reaction was this place is over priced but I ordered the $20 omelette and $6 sausage anyway because I'm supporting a community business, right. However, since this restaurant wants to charge "downtown" prices then I expect a "downtown" presentation. At the very least, wipe the oil off of the plate before serving it and try not burning the sausage. It wasn't busy or crowed at the time so not sure why this would be acceptable to send out to a customer. Also, The omelette tasted like it was cooked in the same oil as the sausage. Cooking 101 don't do this. We had a crowd of 18, and I think we overwhelmed them. Food was room temperature but tasty. I ordered an egg white veggie omelette, it was filled with lots of veggies and very flavorful, my only complaint was it was small. French toast was mushy and soaked in watery syrup. Our drinks came after we finished eating, and when I asked another staff member for help, she rudely told me she wasn't our server -- then later cleared our table and was seen taking shots at the bar. So I heard there was a restaurant that was similar to Batter & Berries on the Southside. I love that place, but hate the Northside (parking reasons). So I've been eager to check this place out. We came on a Friday afternoon at about 12pm. There wasn't a wait to be seated at that time. Walking in they have the same system in place no seating until all parties are there. So we had to wait until 2 other people arrived. We sat at the bar and ordered mimosas. You can add pineapple orange or cranberry juice to the champagne. The bartender was a cool lady! Very welcoming. We got seated at a table and were seated w/Howard for our server. We ordered various items. I had the lambchops w/cheesy hashbrowns. Everything was fresh/hot. Areas for improvement we ordered food that didnt arrive until after some people were done eating their meals. Utensils weren't clean or replaced timely after advising the server. Also the server disappeared for long periods of time. I'll definitely be going back to try other things. On Friday nights they have a fish fry & house music set the bartender came & told us about so I'm eager to check that out too. read more

I traveled 1 hour to bring my friends from NOLA to Love on the blu. Their website says they close at 2pm on Thursday Google says 3pm a customer outside said 3 pm we walk in at 12:45pm on a Thursday and was told the restaurant is closed they will reopen at 9 am! This place is ok. It's pretty much the batters and berries of the south side with not as many options. Glad to see a sit down restaurant on the south side but for me too many sweet options. Everyone doesn't want pancakes and waffles drenched in sugary something for breakfast. When I went they had two menu options that weren't offered that day. That pissed me off. When your telling me the specials please let us know what is also NOT avail. The potatoes were horrible FYI. Hoping it was just an off day. This my first time coming to Love On The Blu. I've heard good things about the chef from Batters 'N' Berries so I decided to go to Love On The Blu where it is less busy. I ordered the Peach Lemonade, the French Toast Slider, and turkey sausage. Below are my thoughts. Peach Lemonade- I didn't taste the peach at all. The drink itself is served in a huge mason jar so it makes it worth the price. French Toast Slider - the first three pieces were delicious! By the fourth piece it was say to overwhelming and sweet. I couldn't finish it Turkey Sausage- great flavor, but way too spicy for me. I had to guzzle down my lemonade and water. It took a while for the spice to soothe in my mouth. Environment - Great!
