I was sorely disappointed the other night when I stopped in to Loves Sushi for dinner. The fish was fine, service was good, but my food was just ehhhh. Then came my tempura shrimp, raw tuna and salmon roll. I couldn't have been more dismayed when my much loved hot vs cold in the roll was lost when they used cold pre- fried shrimp tempura. The whole roll was tasteless. If you are making sushi, make it correctly. I won't be going back any time soon. If they pre-fry the "hot" food, what other corners are they cutting. DO NOT EAT HERE! FOOD POISONING ALERT!! I had their ramen last night, which at first the lady on the phone was rude about. When I opened it, I noticed the ramen noodles were the $1 prepackaged ones you get at any store. The chicken looked weird, but I was hungry so ate it...that was until I bit into a rotting piece. A couple hours later I got extremely sick, and am still today almost 15 hours later. This is the only thing I ate yesterday, and besides the rotting meat and cheap noodles, the edamame had mold in it. This place should not only be avoided, it should be shut down by public health officials. PAM!! Our server today. Where do I start I've been in the food industry for a while. It's hard work restaurant barely make a profit sometimes. Servers work long hour on their feet. Sometimes barely making any tips. So let's say my food bill would be like $85 and a $25 tip it adds up but if you get good service it shouldn't matter right. So today we wanted some sushi so we made our way to our fav sushi place. My daughters order from there even after a it's a hr before you can pick up your food. We have order from Love Sushi lots of times. Today I'm sorry to say they have lost 6 loyal customers and out recommendations to their restaurant. We walked In from the beginning Pam was very rude. We said it was only two for dinner. So she straight told us to go to the back of the restaurant. The table by where the bathrooms and 2 carts full of dirty dishes were. Keep in mind there were 3 open tables in front of the place. I asked to sit us there because that's where I was left off she said no it's reserved for a big party and the other table was occupied. Well good food is what we wanted So I was like hum ok. Not even 5 minutes goes by two people walk In right away she sits them there. Ok another group of 4 come in and again she sits them next to that couple. At this point I'm upset because why couldn't we sit there and was it the color of my skin or what. I asked her why and what happened she said the big group cancel but why couldn't she just ask us to move to a more comfortable table. Nobody was sitting there so she had plenty of time to move us. My wife wanted to leave but me being who I'm I was no it's ok we can't let her ruin our dinner. I asked for my fav the dynamite appetizer when it came it was burnt. I was trying to just eat it but I just couldn't eat burnt peas and burnt chard mushrooms. I asked to please take it back. So here comes Pam screaming from the cash register hey you ate half no you pay for it you ate half. I asked her politely not to be so loud and scream that she can walk over and explain whatever she was screaming to me closer without raising her voice. I told her she was not right for being like that with us she said yeah yeah ok I take it of the bill. Another customer comes In and she even offers her free beer to take home with her order but I had to pay for burnt food. Cmon that's not right. A restaurant serving instant noodles for ramen! I wanted to find my 4 year old some good noodle soup. Ramen is always one of his favorite foods. When the waitress brought out the noodles, it looked familiar; it looked like the Korean brand instant noodles we have at home and I can taste the powdery soup. The waitress confirmed it. I had a great experience for my first visit to Love Sushi! Pam was a wonderful host and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was well lit and the decor had a nice feel to it. In terms of the food, my party ordered a teriyaki roll, rainbow roll, and cucumber roll -- each were very well made and tasted great! To top it off, we had super yummy ice cream mochi. I ordered my sushi to go from this place and expected three orders of rolls. Turns out I only got one of my orders dropped by my porch. As you can see by the pics I am missing 2 of my rolls. How can three to go boxes fit in one bag? They must know that they are missing a 2/3 of my order. How can that go overlooked? I called them and they said they don't know what to do? I said we don't have time to complain and make up stories about missing food, but I have to take seriously when my food is missing. They still seem not to care about my order and they answered back to me very rude. They already charged me. How can they stay in business if they don't know how to deal with an issue like this? Due to the times we are in, I have limited choices, if I had options from here on out, I wouldn't go here again. Everything was amazing. I definitely enjoyed it. We started with baked green mussels, edamame and miso soup. All delicious especially the mussels! Nice fresh fish and perfect rice too. My son got the lunch portion chicken teriyaki and it was huge. I had the love handroll witch was amazing fresh tuna with a little spice and a crunch. We also had a few specialty rolls, I enjoyed the Lyons roll the best! Love sushi is a decent sushi bar and the portion size of all the sushi is very reasonable and also very delicious. The last time I came here I had ordered the Japanese scallop as well as the blue fin tuna sushi. I wish this location would have the all you can eat menu like the one in Moorpark but maybe one day it will. I disagree with the other reviews... I love their sushi and have never gotten a bad roll. I dont find them messy, too big or un-fresh. Okay, so I have had sashimi that is fresh-ER but the quality of the sashimi at Love is fresh and delicious -- also quite generous. The staff is wonderful, friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere and decor of the place. Often times when it is not a busy time of day, they will bring by a complimentary sample of one of their rolls (and yes, even though I had no clue what I was eating, I enjoyed it very much!). Love has unique rolls in my opinion... but all delicious and I have returned many times. I consider myself picky with sushi -- esp. since Simi has a million sushi restaurants. This place is weird. Apparently I don't find it awful, cause here I am for the 4th time. But it is not good sushi... Its like knock off sushi? The rice is always warm, not sticky, and usually kind of chewy. It's not at all the normal sushi consistency. I've ordered probably 5 different rolls. They all taste the same... Be careful here! When we got our bill I noticed that they had included an 18% gratuity. Not such a big deal, really, but when I gave them my card for payment, I did not get the original bill back with my credit card receipts! What I got was a receipt with the sub total and blank spaces for the tip and total! And let's not forget that they print out three different % suggestions for a tip at the bottom of your receipt, as if the gratuity the already charged you with doesn't count. So be careful if you pay with credit/debit card. They will include a gratuity on your bill, but won't show it to you when they give you the card receipt. They are hoping you won't pay attention to the bill so they can rip you off! read more

I came here for lunch with a buddy. I had been here some time ago when it was another sushi restaurant. This place had better atmosphere. When we opened the doors and walked in we were heartily greeted by all the sushi-chefs. We were then instantly greeted by a hostess who directed us to a table. We sat, and I was pleased to see that it was pre-set with a napkin and chopsticks aesthetically set geometrically on the table. A lone red lamp dangled a few feet above the table, creating a somewhat romantic mood. Within moments of sitting down, the same hostess that directed us to the table came over with menus. After perusing the menu, the waitress came over again and asked us what we wanted. I went with the #3 lunch Combination (Chicken Teriyaki & B.B.Q Beef ribs) and my buddy was feverishly filling out their sushi form. She verified that our orders were correct and went back to the chefs. A few minutes passed, and my buddy's sushi arrived. A massive plate with four neatly arranged piles of food. a roll of sushi, two hand-rolls, and the garnish all sat equidistant from each other. The garnish of wasabi and ginger were separated by a plastic leaf. Then my plate arrived. A massive helping of chicken, beef, salad and rice sat before me. I began in. I ate the salad first. (To make Mom proud.) I then moved onto the beef as my buddy began his hand-wrap-fish sushi-deal thingy. The beef was good. Well cut, cooked and seasoned. The chicken was next, and it was very okay. It was very similar to other chicken Teriyakis from other Chinese places I'd been to before. The thing that stuck out was the fact that it was a massive pile of chicken and beef. All the food was good. I tried the rice, but was so full from everything else I couldn't get more than a fork-full before I was done.. My buddy commented on how his sushi was "okay", but also very inexpensive compared to other places.. The waitress came over, and we took care of the bill. If you come in for happy hour get yourself a Blooming onion roll and some Sake and you will leave with a full tummy and a smile on your face. They also have a great selection of lunch and dinner rice plates if you're not a huge roll lover. They even have a couple of Ramen choices that are pretty great. Excellent service and friendly staff, i've been a regular here since the sushi bar before it went out of business. the new owners and management have done a great job with the place, and they have several well priced deals going on for all manner of rolls. The sushi here is great. There are very large portions of very high quality sushi-grade fish. We had yellowtail & salmon Nigiri sushi, a cut spicy tuna roll, fresh water eel and a tempura California roll with baby scallops on top. It's very hard to pick which ones were the best because they were all great. The only criticism was service was a bit slow. I think it's because they had a mother with small children, apparently a regular, (though this place is newly opened,) sit down at the sushi bar on one of the kids' birthdays. They turned down the lights, and we all sang that new "Happy Birthday" song, so not even grumpy old me could be disgruntled. They even comp'ed us some desert, (a Fuji apple sliced, drizzled in choclate stuck into a peanut butter base,) so everything was made up to us without our even saying a word. Other customers and the sushi "Masa" were indulging in loud repartee' occaisionally. But that was a good thing, lending to a familiar atmosphere that is probably 'Down Home Japanesey' style. read more
