The food here is decent, but every time I come here, the dining experience leaves a lot to be desired. Last Friday I walked in with my family and we had to wait because there was no one working the door. We finally got seated after someone came from the back. We ordered right away cause we could see it was busy. My beer never showed up. I had to eventually go to the bar where my beer was sitting for about 10 mins. I ordered another beer for my wife, paid for both -- but then when I returned to the table, they brought All the food-- soups, appetizers, sushi, main course all at once. Waitress never apologized, she just kind of ignored us like, yeah we messed up but I'll continue to ignore you the rest of the evening until you flag me down to bring the check. This place needs a little updating and is a bit too dark and warm for my taste...our waitress was new and let us know that many times. Please make sure your servers know the menu and have an understanding of the products they sell. We also had to remind her to bring things that should automatically be brought with the sushi(wasabi) It was my friends birthday and we let her know and we heard another table being sang to but not my friend? To their credit, the nigiri sushi and rolls were good, not authentic, but Asian-American fusion good. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended for us. My daughter and I arrived during an off hour and the restaurant was mostly empty, so we expected attentive service. Instead, service was consistently slow throughout the meal. After a long wait to place our order, all of the sushi and rolls arrived at once, crowding the small table. After that, our waiter essentially disappeared for nearly 40 minutes. No water refills, no check-in, and no opportunity to order anything else without repeatedly trying to get someone's attention. My daughter eventually ordered a bowl of miso soup to finish the meal, and when the check arrived we paid it without question. Only afterward, while briefly speaking to friends we found near the sushi bar, were we told that we still owed more than $25 because the original bill had been incorrect. We had already paid the bill presented to us, including a generous tip, so this was awkward and frustrating. The final total for what was ultimately a modest dinner for two was over $120. At that price point, we expect much better service and a more professional overall experience. Overall, this was a 1-star restaurant, but the sushi itself was good enough to earn a second star. The service and billing issues were disappointing enough that we will not be returning. YMMV. read more

The service was not good initially. They were really not paying attention. Had to wait for the hostess and she only gave us one menu for two people. We had to go get another one.. The waitress didn't come for a long time and we had to ask for her. She forgot our water, then Didn't realize angel hair on the menu, and my food did not come with the sauce on the side. So as much as I wanted to like this place, I just didn't love it. My parents took my sister and I here after a hard working hot day. I guess they love going to eat here when they are in the area. I'd like to say that I am a sushi connoisseur, just because I have tried different sushi places and sushi is one of the foods I like to eat when I want to splurge. Anyways, I wish I could tell you what I got but Honestly they weren't great especially for the price. I did get an appetizer raw fish selection and the fish just tasted fishy...personally I would not come back as I prefer raw sushi over baked. But my parents baked sushi was really good. I decided to return within a week to see how my first experience would compare to the second before writing a review. Overall, the food on both visits were good, but on the first visit the waiter forgot to serve the miso soup that was included in the meal. The second time the bento meal was complete. The winter roll that I ordered was very well prepared and tasty. The ambiance in both visits were good. We came just in time before the rush so the wait was minimal and the service was good. Parking lot can be difficult since it shares the lot with 24 Hr gym along other nearby businesses. The ambiance of the place was nice and restaurant was clean. Server was good as most servers are. Did the standard checking up on customers if everything was good. Food: I ordered the Blackened Ribeye (10-12 oz) which was way overcooked, but they rectified issue immediately. Steak was served with mashed potatoes and some greens which was decent ($36) but with the price, I expected a little bit better. Served in a large bowl which I thought was odd because it made cutting the steak a bit more awkward than just using a standard plate. We also ordered the Pupu platter. I would not recommend this because it was very overpriced ($42) for what you get (Calamari, 2 fried shrimp, 2 egg rolls, short rib, and a couple or one more that I can't remember). It seemed they served frozen food, especially the egg rolls. Definitely regretted ordering. Wedge salad was good. But how can you really go wrong with a salad shy of it being wilted. The seared Ahi tuna was good. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with the place and the lack of quality of their food. I am glad I got to check it out, but I highly doubt I'll be returning unless I find out they've improved on their food. read more

Owner Hass is a hardworking good man. He knows his business. The restaurant is very clean. Carlos the sushi chef is very pleasant and very good at his craft. There are some very nice servers. Over the years they have had some other great servers that moved on, and some not-so great servers that luckily moved on as well. The sushi is limited to super basic fish and rolls. But they are very good. They buy quality fish and it shows in taste and texture. Wish they would bring in fish specials for weekends... some seasonal fish, etc... The cooked entrees are very diverse and surprising for a sushi bar, but this is far from just a sushi bar, this is a diverse restaurant, and it works. Particularly if you have family that wants sushi and some do not, this place has you covered. It's been around for many years, and the quality is why it has staying power. I can't for the life of me understand how this place stays afloat. Every single time we order take out from here it's a disaster - twice the sushi was bad (smelled rotten) - more often than not the orders wrong - and strangely "lemons to not come with to go orders - regardless of what you order". So you end up basically begging the wait staff to get you a container of lemons. read more

I was here for a private event which the owners were kind enough to open for a friends private birthday party. We got to enjoy their very interesting mix of different foods and they were all amazingly good. I don't throw out the 5's too often but the ribs and lamb lollipops were a big surprise and tasty our group devoured them.
