I found this place on yelp just as I was needing some clothes that would fit over my growing belly. My mom wanted to treat me to some maternity clothes, and some of the reviews of Motherhood Maternity made it seem a little sketchy, so we went to the Lovely Bump as our first stop. I'm so glad we did. We loaded up on stuff to try on, then went upstairs to the bargain area and got even more stuff. The changing rooms (I think there are two) were roomy enough for two people and were well-lit. We got about 15 things for under $100! Such good deals and some really nice clothes for all occasions. read more

I found a few maternity items for a very reasonable price and a couple of toys for my daughter brand new. Beth, the owner was very helpful. This store is excellent!!! We are lucky to have a store in our town that does buy/sell consignment for baby items. Everything is quality from vintage to brand new. We always find something we like there. I even found atoy from when I was a child and made me nostalgic. Previously owned and Upcycled baby needs are brilliant because the previous owner already did the work in airing out and washing the harmful factory chemicals off of the product. (*You still need to sanitize both used and new baby items from anywhere you buy them though.) Also, babies grow so quickly that these products sold at Lovely Bump are practically new. They have a varied assortment of gently used maternity wear, which is a lifesaver since I seem to keep shopping as I keep getting larger. I realize that these clothes are short term only, but it's hard not to buy! Cute cute cute shop, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, and adorable bathroom. Great Store! I've been shopping here for many months now and this Five Star review is long overdue. Lovely Bump is a Hugh, Clean and Priced-Right Children's and Maternity Consignment and Resale store. I have found all sorts of unique and top brands of children's clothing , great toys and everything necessary for having kids ( bedding, shoes, strollers, highchairs, diaper bags, slings, baby carriers, etc) And had I known about Lovely Bump before having children I would have purchased all my maternity clothes there too! (It beats the maternity exchange in SF any day.) The owner Beth is always friendly and helpful. It's a great place to bring your kids too as there is a pet turtle to visit and she has a bathroom with a full changing facility! It's also right across from Lullaby Lane so it's easy to find. I've been to most of the children's consignment stores in the bay area and this is by far my favorite and the one I go back to time and time again. I cannot say enough good things about Lovely Bump! Please go visit and see for yourself what a gem we have on the Peninsula!! Happy Shopping! Just stumbled on this store after a trip to Lullaby Lane. Found a fantastic stroller at a great price. Awesome customer service, I have told a few friends to stop in, they won't be disappointed! The store was very clean and well organized. I didn't get the feeling you have to dig to find something you would like. This always turns me off, but Lovely Bump doesn't give you that vibe! I am so disapointed with this place. Every time I go I have high hopes. The hispanic lady that works there, glasses, older... so rude. Her phone etiquette is awful! One time she told me to call and leave a message. Next she tales my name and no response. But she is really rude about it. Today I called to get my consignment and the very nice lady told I could come get my amount any time and simply leave my name. As there was some confusion on the phone number given. "I have to have the name and number" she snapped. I asked if there was anyone else to help her & she snapped "im all you have today". Ugh...immalmost ready to not go back... I love the Lovely Bump- When compared to the retail prices that I have to pay when buying baby paraphanelia, the Lovely Bump has fantastic prices on used maternity books, children's books, baby gear, and most of all, baby clothing. The selection is great for clothing, books, and toys, in that order. The last time I visited, there weren't too many choices on hats and gear like strollers, cribs, bassinets, etc., but that's okay-you just have to be there more often to snag great deals. Good parking available in front of the store and more than plenty around the block behind Lullabye Lane. The store decor is cute and well thought-out, although it may appear cluttered at times by bulky consignment stuff for strollers to go around the limited store area. Beth is very pleasant to chat with and although I do see some negative ratings by other yelpers on Beth's level of helpfulness, it should be clear that she runs this business on her own and I admire her for the courage and diligence to keep this place going. The one other employee, Maria, does have an attitude. She takes her time doing whatever she does and gave me and my husband a once-over before she greeted us, which made us feel a bit awkward that we're not Hispanic. read more

The darling name is only the beginning of the great things about Lovely Bump. There's both new and secondhand stuff, which rocks, because you can shop for yourself and for gifts for others. For kids and maternity stuff, they both get outgrown so quickly why pay the price for new stuff? I got great things for myself here when I was preggo, and now that I have a kid, I can shop for her here instead. For gifts, the new stuff is perfect - my absolute favorites are the hand-painted onesies with the cute taglines. Saw the prices there.. saw the Lovely bump and decided to go and check it out... WOW.. I bought a glider for 60 bucks!!! In working condition. I had an excellent time at this cute little consignment boutique. Beth, the owner was very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. It was my first time walking into a maternity store because I've been lagging for so long to buy maternity clothes. My body is finally telling me to give in, so I did, and I am so happy and excited that "Lovely Bump" is so close to where I live and have such cute stuff, both for mom and baby. It was hard for me to leave the store because there was so much I kept seeing after I was "done" trying on stuff. I left with two dresses, jeans (I'm such a jean whore) and two spring/ summer tops that I could probably wear post baby as well. This is one of the cleanest and nicest resale stores I have been to for maternity/consignment. it is well laid out and Organized!!!!! The staff must spend a lot of time just sizing things and it shows. They have a great selection of clothes for baby and momma, used and some new also. Prices were really decent for what they have and there was sale when I was there on certain colored tags (not sure if this is the norm) The bathroom is large, clean and stocked with lotions too, which I liked. Nothing is worse than being pregnant and needing a bathroom, then having the bathroom be horrible. Thanks for the nice touch. They also have a cute turtle to make funny faces at and a great kids play area. I will be returning when my little one is a bit older for more clothes. read more

I totally agree with Anne E. You have to catch it on a good day. I went in once and didn't even find anything I wanted to try on. Then, a week later, I bought six items. It just depends on what they've gotten in that week. I must have gone during a sale because I got several pairs of Old Navy jeans for $5-6. One had $2 in the pocket. Score! I haven't looked at the baby stuff yet, only the maternity clothes. I wouldn't depend on Lovely Bump for all my needs, but it's good for rounding out your nice maternity wardrobe with some inexpensive T-shirts or jeans. I previously gave this place 2 stars based on customer service. I'll be honest, it's still pretty bad. They have discount signs but don't even bother asking why you didn't get a discount because the lady can be rude. I've been here a total of 4 times and she always sucks. But I have since met the owner and had a wonderful experience here and got some wonderful deals. The owner (I think her name is Beth) is really awesome and helpful and friendly. She gives you a total different experience. Lots of Janie and Jack, Tea collection, and BabyGAP items, some even with tags! I absolutely love the ethos here of store credit only to grow thrifting mentality. I buy & sell here. I have gotten my children's bike here, clothes, shoes toys etc. The layout is so organized & easy to find the stock, the owner Beth only takes good quality clothes and you make appointments for selling so you never need to wait too long. I was so excited to find a new store outside of my home of SF that bought baby and maternity clothes so I couldn't wait to come sell all the clothes Iolani had grown out of...which by the way were all in excellent condition, practically new and mainly from Baby Gap and Gymboree. But I should have suspected the visit was going to go bad when I first came in and said I was there to sell and Beth, the owner, snapped and said they didn't sell clothes only traded. Oops, my bad for saying the wrong word. I had an appointment which she herself made for me and on her business card it said resell...so sorry I was off by two letters and said sell instead of resell...Anyway, we figured out I had an appointment and she told me to put my stuff down by the window but my daughter's stroller was in the way so she just grabbed the bags and threw them on the floor with all our clothes in them. Wow, should I just grab the stuff and go? No, I really want to sell because they carry Speecees, a brand of organic baby clothing that I wanted to trade for (which by the way there was never any mention that that clothes was not included in trading when I first got there). So I told her I would go to the coffee shop next door and come back (I wanted to give her space to look through the clothes since she seemed like she was in a snappy mood). When I got back she told me that she would give me $64 for a huge bag of clothes which would sell for way more than that (I would think closer to $250). But again I wanted to trade for the Speecees so I agreed to take that price. I browsed through the store to see if there was any other used clothing I would like to buy but there just wasn't anything in my daughter's style except for a used shirt which I picked up with the Speecees clothing (I don't mind buying used clothes, I do it all the time in SF). When I went to the register she said that that clothes wasn't for trade. Um, great...so I wasted all this time, I thought. Then I decided it wasn't worth it to sell her all my really good baby/maternity clothes and I just asked to take back my clothes and we'd call it a day. She just kept doing what she was doing and didn't pack anything up so I went and did it myself and she told me I had wasted her time. I left and will NEVER go back there again. You would never get that kind of attitude or unprofessional behavior at Peek-a-bootique in SF where I usually do business. So I'm staying here and really I don't know why anyone would ever go into the Lovely Bump. Granted they have some cute maternity clothes but the owner's nasty attitude and unprofessionalism is a HUGE turn-off. Think who you're buying from before you shop. And did I mention she looked at my daughter as if disgusted by her when I went up to the counter initially....hmmm...the owner of a baby store giving nasty looks to a baby...grow up! read more

This resale boutique is SUPER cute, clean and very well-organized.. it's exactly what you hope for in a second-hand store. The prices are reasonable, $5 and up for adorable onesy outfits.. shoes, toys, socks, headbands, etc.. even Mommy's maternity wear.. Actually, I don't think EVERYTHING is "used" here. There were so many goodies that you get that feeling of grabbing it and not letting go because you KNOW you got a good one! Lovely Bump can be a hit or miss, but you definitely WON'T get the stinky, unorganized uncoordinated feel at this second-hand gem. read more

While I was pregnant, with my second child - for the entire 9+ months -. I visited Lovely Bump weekly and spent a lot of money there, as it has many items I did like. Beth, was always very helpful and pleasant, when purchasing... However, it feels like I am dealing with an entirely different person, when I was trying to sell her back items. ( and these aren't the items I bought previously. First of all, it's impossible to get an appointment, and when you do, it's two months out... Second, I took brand new items to her. Items my son hadn't even worn, or worn just once. I would say for over $200 worth of stuff, she gave me $53 credit for the store. That bothered me, but I scheduled again, because babies grow like weeds! I went in today to reschedule my appt. that I made for Friday, ( two months ago ) and she was SO RUDE! Beth, the owner, was all bent out of shape, because she couldn't find the appointment. She almost had a nervous breakdown right there. I know people have bad days, but this is the fourth time I have been in there since my son was born, and I am done. I told her not to worry about it, I will GIVE my latest batch with tags on them, to Goodwill, and to people that will appreciate it. I will never go back to that store! If I could give ZERO stars, (or less) I would. This owner is completely rude and absolutely does not get the connection between those of us selling our precious pre-owned high quality children's items and those that come looking to buy our lightly used treasures! Like others, I waited and waited for my "appointment" date, showed up on a weekday with several sealed tote boxes. Nobody else even came in the store while I was there but she said "it was too much trouble to go through my bins" ( so why did I make an appointment???) Well, that was her attitude until until she saw that I had tons of stuff never even used & still had the original sales tags still attached! She asked me to come back in an hour but I thought that was wierd so I stayed put. ( Which clearly annoyed her.) The owner itemized & marked my things down manually on a yellow tag, discounting everything from the tag by at least 1/2 ( presumably her re-selling price?) From that amount the policy was something like I would get 30% or 40% based on if I wanted cash or store credit. ( Not stellar, but OK) When I said I wanted cash she then went back though the list and "discounted" all these thngs by another 75% saying she suddenly didn't think they would sell right away and she would probably have to discount them eventually and put them in her bargain area. Following me?....so now the $3.00 or $4.00 I would have gotten for one of these brand new items that she would have re-sold for $10.00 was suddenly now only worth .75 or $1.00 ????? Oh - Come on! We are Mom's not ignoramuses ! I am yelping because I want all other Mom's & Dad's out there to be aware of my horrible experience with Lovely Bump. My friends & I all agree that this is absolutely NOT the place to consign or sell your items if you want any kind of square deal. I was better off donating to the the Women's Shelter Network & taking a tax credit. read more

But it's a nice place for browsing especially after a visit to Lullaby Lane across the street. Craigslist seems to be better for used baby products. This review is for the maternity section only --- the baby/kid clothes sections did look better! I looked online for where to buy used maternity clothes on the peninsula and this place came up a number of times. Based on what I read online, I was hoping to find new-ish clothes in good condition. I've shopped in thrift stores before and I'm not especially picky, but I was pretty disappointed here. Many of the maternity clothes were very old and heavily worn or bleach-stained or sweaty, and lots of them looked circa 1992. The new-looking ones I tried on turned out to smell sweaty as well, so I left without buying anything. The woman working there was very nice though and I might try it again another time --- I'm sure there must be a better selection on other days. read more

I've been coming here since I was pregnant, and now my son is almost a year and a half, so I've found some great things here over the past few years. If you live in the area, it's definitely worth stopping in periodically to check out what they have. It was great to be able to cheaply add new pieces to my maternity wardrobe after feeling like I was wearing the same few outfits over and over to work. After my son was born, I started stopping in to pick up great deals on stuff like swaddle sacks, shoes, clothes, etc...All the stuff that they just outgrow so quickly, so why spend more than you have to? I'm 4.5 months pregnant and at the point where I need maternity clothes, especially for work. As a first time visitor to the store, I found they have 2 full maternity racks- one for office and one for casual wear. (There are other racks with swimwear, nursing wear, etc but not as full as the other 2.) They close at 6pm and at 5:50pm, I walked into the dressing room with about a dozen items. The saleswoman Beth was super nice and didn't show any signs of annoyance that the store was closing in 10 minutes. While in the dressing room I heard her chatting with customers and kids and thought to myself how nice, pleasant, informative and patient she was with everyone she came into contact with... I came out of the dressing room still walked around for a couple minutes & Beth was happy to share info on baby items and how their trade/consignments worked. I scored 6 items (4 tops and 2 dresses) for $36.99 tax included! Clothing is very decently priced for used items, some being $4-6, with colored tags stating 10, 15, or 25% off. (I could be wrong about the values of the discount, but there are def 3 colors, each corresponding to the percentage they take off.) I'll definitely be back to trade in my son's clothing/items. Great second hand finds. Yes, some things you can get at Old Navy for the same price, but who wants to go there when you can buy CLEAN, well-chosen and gently used maternity and children's wear here? Plus it feels good to not buy into the mass consumerism that is Babys-r-us and Old Navy, etc. I'd way rather support this business than those guys. Plus the owner lady is really nice and helpful. I recently began secondhand shopping since I found another children's used clothing store, Kid to Kid and loved it. I decided to visit Lovely Bump to check out their selection. When I first entered their store, I immediately noticed a foul odor. Not a great way to start my experience. I wasn't greeted at all by the lady at the counter and pretty much ignored as I went around the store. The store has a horrible layout. The used clothes are in the front and the price is scribbled badly on a ticket. Clothes, with tags attached are against the wall, and sale clothing is jammed in bins in the back of the store. Books, dvds, shoes,toys and baby/toddler items are scattered around the store. Their selection of shoes are pretty bad and most are not even in good conditon. The used shoes are located in the very back of the store, hidden, but a line of new shoes are kept in the front of the store. I would advise the owner to take a merchandising class or buy a book on it to better help the business. As far as the clothes, I didn't find anything interesting. I tried to shop their again a few weeks later. I thought I didn't give it a fair shot because of the way the store was set up. I guess I am a little spoiled from shopping at kid to kid. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. A different lady was much too busy with her conversation on the phone. She was speaking in Spanish and since I know the language, the conversation was not appropriate for a children's store. But again, not much selection in the 18-24 months boy or 3t girl sections. read more

I love that this place exists! I am always so happy to save anything from the landfill and know that things that my children have outgrown or sometimes never even worn can be used and loved again! Similarly, it's fun to look for great deals on clothes and other items here, again trying to reduce our environmental footprint. The owner is always pleasant and she is extremely reasonable and efficient when it comes to pricing items, so that I have always felt that I was getting a great deal both when consigning and purchasing. UPDATE: The prices seem a bit lower now. But all around, the quality in clothing is lacking. A while ago, the selection was better (better names/overall quality). Stay away from the shoes & leggings though. Many of the shoes are very dirty & seriously worn down. Definitively not healthy for little feet! the leggings are also worn, although the sign says that they are in good condition. LB is still the place to go for the occasional wardrobe addition, book or toy. read more

I came looking for a baby gate, and there was one. However, when I took it home, pieces were missing (couldn't attach the side extensions without the specific screws which were missing). I brought the baby gate back and asked for a refund, since the product had missing parts. Had I simply not liked the product or changed my mind, I would have been satisfied with a store credit. However, since the product was UNUSABLE I felt entitled to a refund which was not granted. In addition, the store owner was condescending and rude. As a consignment store owner, she should do a better job inspecting the pieces she takes on for re-sell. read more
