I absolutely love coming here. The owner and her employee are incredibly welcoming and kind. The last time I was there, the owner Beth said I could come by any time with my kids so they could play. I'm from a small town, and the big city is so different than what I'm used to. Coming here to this shop makes me feel close to home due to friendly atmosphere. Okay, so yes, the owner can be a little bit snarky sometimes especially when people try to just drop in and unload their used items without an appointment. BUT, she works really hard to support Moms and Soon-to-be Moms who love second hand stuff! When I was expecting, I found some really cute maternity pants here - petite size no less! And now that the baby's here, I love going to check out their great deals on good condition used clothes and toys! I've even found some great new with tags items for gifts :) Sure, sometimes I go in and don't find anything, but other days I'll find a bunch of good deals. It all depends on what's in stock on any given day. All in all, I'm definitely a fan of Lovely Bump. I was searching to no avail for second hand baby items to complete my nursury until, I was refered to Lovely Bump by an employee at the Salvation Army. I was greeted in a very friendly fashion by the owner, Beth on entering. She was very helpful with suggestions and helping me to find the items, I needed. The items, I bought were next to new and I spent $27 for the 2 together. I would have spent $75 had, I purchased them new. I am very impressed and I will definitely be going back there. I think this place is great! I went here for the 1st time today to shop the maternity section. I really do not want to spend a lot on maternity clothes that I will only wear for a few months, so this place is perfect! I got 5 tops & 2 pairs of pants for $27.00. Can't beat that! They do not have a huge selection, but the lady told me they get new items in almost everyday. So I will be stopping by a little more frequently to check out what they have. I was so happy to have visited this store. It is conveniently located with lots of street parking. Super cute store with great staff who greated me as I walked in and was continuously checking to see if I was doing OK. I got 2 pants, 2 blouses, a skirt and 2 books all for $28!!! I was just going to spend $39.99 at the maternity store in tanforan for a pair of black pants. I was also eyeing their 50 cent bins with baby clothes which looked great. I really love this store. I have been a customer here for about two years since my son has been born. I love it because she offers a variety of cute and very affordable clothes. I don't have that much money so she also has an option where you can bring your childs used clothes to trade for new clothes! You basically sell your clothes to her in exchange for a gift voucher that is good for anything in the store. This has worked out really well for me. I am able to get my son the things he needs within my budget. I really love Beth, she always says hi to me and is very sweet. The other lady could leave or take, being that the first 10 interactions I had with her when coming to store were just weird.... I guess she had to get used to me or get to know me before being normal and friendly. ANYWAY, the store is really big and has a lot of things to chose from. Discovered this Lovely Bump by accident with my wife. We were becoming thoroughly overwhelmed at nearby Lullaby Lane (my wife was feeling "Babied out" taht's saying something) and were walking to our car when I suggested that we walk in to LB. Thank the stars we did. We met the owner Beth and her lovely daughter. The decor tasteful and the atmosphere was great. The best part? Deals, deals, deals, almost steals! Imagine Japanese Weekend shirts for $15, a Petite Bateau jacket for the little one for $8. At under 200 dollars, (we are expecting our first) we picked up 17 articles of baby clothing, eight maternity shirts for my wife and two pairs of pants. All high fashion and super cute. Other baby consignment stores don't take infant clothes so I was real happy that Beth worked something out with me. She always has good quality clothes and I love some of the dressy outfits as well. I love this store~ I can not say enough to express my gratitude for such a great shop. It has unparalleled quality goods for expectant moms, their babies & beyond --particularly for the price. Invariably I leave with a full bag of goods every time I step foot inside. And the spot in the back to entertain my 2 sons while I shop is sheer brilliance --thank goodness the shop is accustically equipped to handle a rise in decibles! I am so disappointed. After much searching for a cheap alternative to a bassinet i finally found one here. The Graco Pack n Play. It was perfect for my situation since I don't have much space for a full sized crib and it's portable. That was my best option and since it was on sale for $45 I was excited to have found it. So yesterday I went into the store and put it on hold ..... I was told that it would be held for me until the end of today. I just called and I'm very sad to find out that it has already been sold to someone else. Apparently someone else is working today and wasn't informed that the item was put on hold for me so she sold it. I'm so irritated that this happened and I'm stuck searching again. I had a smaller item on hold from earlier this week and they've had no problem holding onto it for me. It seems to me that the communication between the employees isn't very good since the item I really needed is gone now after only being on hold for a day. I'm so disappointed because I was really looking forward to this. I understand that mistakes like this happen with busy businesses but it adds a lot of stress on me. Well I'll have to look elsewhere now I'm sure I'll find something better. ____________________________________________ Okay first of all I just want to see if you remember... that same day I had to go run errands and when I realized I wouldn't be able to come back for it that same day I then called you. Did I not? I let you know it was me and that I couldn't make it back that same day but that I would like to put it on hold for the next day because I was going to come in for sure to buy it. You then said to me "no problem it will be held for you until the end of tomorrow" and those were your exact words. So I'm not sure why it was never placed on hold for me even though you said it would be. I'm not at fault here I asked you to hold it over the phone and you said yes. This whole experience has been beyond frustrating because when I first found your store I was excited to have somewhere that sells affordable items for my son. BUT it has become too difficult and stressful to even shop here after this. Not to mention the poor customer service skills and how you don't make your customers feel welcome, at least not me. When I called in to see if the item was still on hold yesterday I was shocked by how rude your employee was when I spoke to her over the phone. I can't believe somehow you think this whole thing is my fault (even though it doesn't matter who is at fault) you're the one who made the mistake .... own up to it. read more

So it's been awhile since I went into this store, but I feel I must share my experience with you all. I used to buy and sell things here all the time - somethings were gems and others were just ok, but always worth the price. That said, I feel I must caution you, IF you plan on selling your stuff here at the Lovely Bump be sure to note your calendar with dates - once you sell your stuff here your voucher will expire and you lose all credit. As a mom of three (including a newborn at the time), I lose track of time easily. I had a credit voucher for ~$75 that "expired" - that's a lot of money. When I called to talk to Beth about it she said sorry that's our policy. I said I realize that and apologize for loosing track of time but it had only been a few weeks, not a year or something since the expiration can we negotiate a deal? She was very direct and rude and repeated herself "that's our policy." Wow, really?! The voucher credit all goes back to her store and she doesn't want to negotiate with me and keep my business? No value in relationships here. As a small business owner in the field of (new) moms and babies, I would think she might be a bit more understanding and flexible. Ultimately, I think Beth made a very poor business decision. I have referred friends and family here many times, bought items and sold items - even donated stuff for free on more than one occasion. I was surprised by her unwillingness to work with me and the fact she was outright rude about it. I have not and will not shop here again out of principal, and no referrals from me. Just be sure to track your vouchers so you don't lose your money (credit). It should also be noted, there are other baby consignment stores nearby with much better customer service (Generations in Pacifica and Too Cute in Burlingame). Sorry Beth, had to share. read more

My wife and I went to the Lovely Bump several times while she was pregnant to buy maternity clothes, which are used, but they were in excellent condition and clean. We like the vast selection of items they have at any given time, which can also be furniture. I expected more from this store...BIG LET DOWN:( On their website they mention Premium Brands like: Oiliy, Jacadi, Bluberi Blvd, Etc...I did not find a single item from these brands!! The store looks Dirty and Cluttered! The kids shoe selection is very, very poor and all the shoes were very worn in and Dirty! The only brands they carry are Carters..meh Not for me!! I can get that at Target! Customer Svc. was AWFUL to say the least...the sales rep. was behind a counter-looking thing that was about 3ft high and flooded with JUNK!! Didn't even acknowlege us. They had a CLEARANCE section towards the back of the store that was completely DISGUSTING and MESSY! Overall the store was dirty Except for the bathroom..WEIRD! We immedaitely left and went aross the street to Lullaby Lane and found some really cute shoes by See Kai Run and some great feeding accessories for our baby...Don't think I will ever come back to LB!! read more

I visited this place after hearing many good things about it. I must have caught them on an off day. The first thing I noticed was this strong smell of cat litter. Normally I don't have a problem seeing as I have a cat, but this smelled like 20 cats lived there and never had their litter boxes cleaned. Not a nice smell to a pregnant nose. I might have forgiven that if the person behind the counter had acknoledged that we entered. In fact the only thing she did was look like she didn't want to be disturbed. The clothes were overly priced. $100 for a used pair of maternity jeans. And the baby shoes were marked brand new, but were covered in dirt. Sad to say, I won't be coming back. And I wish I had gotten the same experience as all these other people. read more

I'm really unhappy with this store's selling policies. I had no idea that if you don't call to check in on the sale of your items, that the store "donates" the items afterwards. Its very hard for me to believe that a $150 mini co-sleeper is getting donated. This is basically stealing. If this is really the stores policy, its an awful one. You should give the customer a courtesy call and let them know that they are donating your items before doing so. I gave them hundreds of dollars worth of consignment items and haven't received a dime. Don't waste your time, gas or change at the meters dropping stuff off here. It's a scam. read more

If you choose to trade your clothing or small items at Lovely Bump, be aware of the 8 week store credit policy. Your goods are evaluated by Beth, the owner, and you are given half of that value in store credit. The problem is you only have *8 weeks* to use your store credit or you loose it. What is up with that?? In my opinion, the owner is ripping people off. I went into the store today to use my credit and was told it was no good. What? My credit expired two days ago? Since it was my first time back since my trade-in, I asked Beth to cut me some slack, that I didn't remember the small credit window. She explained that the 8 weeks *nonsense* was stressed at the initial appointment. I honestly do not remember; I just remember her saying that if I loose my ticket, that's it... no more credit. She ended up giving me only half of my remaining credit as a "courtesy". My ticket was for around $27 and she only let me use $13. I don't get it, even a credit card company gives you a second chance if you're late just once. I live in Redwood City. I am not in San Bruno often and I do not understand why there would be such a short time limit on store credit. I gave this place two stars because I actually like the store (even though the selection of boys stuff is very small), but I will not be back after this experience. read more

I found some toys for my 1 year old son there that were $5 used as opposed to $10 new so that's helpful but I must agree with some of the other negative comments. The lady at the store can be so sweet at times and other times so rude, especially when you are trying to sell some items. Once I was trying to sell some items and it seemed like she was pricing them really low. I asked her about it and she explained that they are not trying to make money but rather help families in need. OK, that almost made sense but then why would she have brand new IKEA bibs priced higher than at IKEA? I'm giving Lovely Bump one star because I believe in consignment shopping and selling. I've done a lot of consignment buying and selling over the past 10 years with more than 10 proprietors. My experiences have ranged from exceptional to good. I've never had such a bad experience as I had with Lovely Bump. I called first to find out their policies and when they accepted items for sale. The owner said to come in anytime and yes, they took everything on my list. When I brought in my 5 items, that was not the case. OK. staff isn't always well trained. I made an extra trip back to pick up items they could not sell even though they had said on the phone they could sell them. I went along with their request to call every few weeks (a pain and unnecessary if the store keeps records which every other store I've worked with does if they engage in this type of consignment). After a few months, I made the final call and I had one item that had not sold (an infant carrier). I asked if they could mail me the carrier. The owner agreed if I paid $5.32 for shipping. She took the $5.32 from my compensation for the sold items and mailed me the carrier and a check. I have the reduction for the post in writing on my receipt from her. The carrier was not mine! The owner had no idea what had happened to my carrier. I asked for my $5.32 back since I did not receive my carrier. The one I did receive was not as high of quality and more used than mine as well. I don't think it's sell-able. The owner refused to payback the money or compensate me in any way for my carrier, which she likely sold since she can't locate it. There are lots of other baby and children consignment stores on the peninsula. Shop and certainly sell elsewhere. read more

I frequent this store quite often and have redeemed hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise at this store with my trade-ins. I love that they provide you with store credit on the spot instead of having to consign and wait for your credit to build up, which is how it usually works at other consignment stores. I agree at times it can be slim pickins but if you come in frequently you can find awesome quality brand new items at a fraction of the cost you'd find at the store. Beth is totally honest, and I love that's she's clear about her policies and guidelines before you leave the store every single time. I will be a customer for life or until my babies grow up. read more

I love this place. I've been here a few times during my sister's pregnancy to help get stuff for her both pre and post-baby that she needs. The items are a great value over buying new items and are all very gently used so you can hardly tell they're not new. There is a great selection of items from clothes to baby gear to furniture to toys to miscellaneous items. The staff have always been very helpful when I've been there. There is a lot of street parking and I've never had trouble finding a spot. I definitely recommend this as a place to anyone looking up to stock up on supplies for a new baby. read more

Ok let me just say WOOOOHOOOO! This shop and owner Beth rocks. I had the most pleasant experience and was truly blessed with good customer service on my first trip to lovely bump. I got some great clothes big plus for the family friendly environment ,spacious bathroom and huge dressing room. I couldn't give it 5 stars it was a little hard to move around the store since there is a lot of inventory and also it was difficult for me to reach some of the merchandise on the higher racks also not a lot of small sizes. Just the luck of the draw. I must disclose that I'm 4'11 but would imagine that anyone with be a little uncomfortable if pregnant reaching up high (I get dizzy.... so maybe it is just me) But all in all a lovely shop and I will be back. Prices are a little high some of the stuff is cheaper at the store but the discounted stuff is way below cost. She has to keep the lights on some how. Not overpriced but if you have no idea what brands and fabrics run for and get caught up in the experience you may overspend on a tight budget. You'll still walk out with a huge bag a lot cheaper then if you went straight to the store. Also another big plus of the organization of the store and the owners sweet disposition. This is the best maternity boutique I have ever walked into in all my life. First of all, the place is immaculate. Clean clean clean. And there is so much to choose from! Second, the prices are totally reasonable. There always seems to be some kind of sale going on! There was a half-off blowout sale the other day, and I was able to get a lot of stuff! I have been here only once after a trip to Baby World across the street (formerly Lullaby Lane). I thought the selection of clothing was fairly good and I found several items for my new baby daughter. I also found some socks and a set of Beatrix Potter books. The gal behind the counter, I'm guessing someone named Beth based on the previous reviews of this place, was really nice when I was checking out and was looking at my baby daughter and we were chitchatting. I do agree though that I was not acknowledged when I walked in, which is always nice to have in a retail store, but oh well. Beth was busy sorting through and marking the new items she had just received in. I also agree that the shoes for sale were very worn and nothing I would have purchased. overall, the selection is good and I will return.
