I've been going to see Anna and her staff of nail technicians for the last ten years; I've tried a number of other places in the area, and always find myself coming back. This afternoon as I let the salon I sat in my car and shed a few tears because of Anna's kindness. I had recently broken my toenail pretty severely below the quick and was told that I would more than likely lose my toenail and have to wait for it to grow back (I will spare you photos) Anna had casually asked while starting my fill, if I would like to have a pedicure. I had told her that I probably shouldn't for the safely of all involved (plus, who really wants to deal with a toe that could start bleeding again?) She took one look any my toe, took the remaining polish off and went to work to make the unsightly mess look presentable again. She was able to seal the cracked portion and covered it with a thin layer of gel, and then painted over it to make it look like nothing happened. Anna and Thu always do a great job on my nails; they are constantly the same shape and length and just thick enough that they don't crack. Prices are very reasonable, and if you follow any of the health department findings, Lovely Nails is never mentioned for cleanliness issues. I popped in here to get a shellac at the recommendation of my sister-in-law who happens to reside in Bothell. The place was very chemical smelling, but the staff of bickering sisters was so fun to be amongst, so I quickly stopped noticing. My manicure lasted FOREVER. It was the best one I've ever had in terms of duration-- and I have nobody to blame but myself that it was tacky after Christmas was over. read more

I walked in for a pedicure and was told it was a 15 minute wait and I could sit in the chair. That 15 minutes quickly became 30 with water that became cold. They added hot water to make it warm and I waited another 5 or 10. The guy who did my nails was quick but not very precise. He kept looking around all distracted. I had to translate for a group that came in and voice any concerns that they had. It looks like my nails have spots that weren't painted and as nice as they were, I probably won't come back. Ok.. the first 10 minutes of being in this place i literally thought to myself "what is all the hype people have for this place on Yelp for?" I was told to sit in a random pedi chair and stayed there for almost 10 minutes before someone started on my service. My friend and I dropped in on a whim to this place to have a nail date. We had a not so great experience. On first glance, this place was very dirty and filthy. It didn't seem like a sanitary place at all. There was open food everywhere and it was very cluttered. We looked past it anyways. We called ahead and ask if they had room for us at 3:30, and they said sure. It was super busy when we got there, no problem. We waited our turn and was patient. We understood it was busy. After 30-40 minutes when it came to our turn to get our gel manicures. The lady was rushing around trying to do 3 manicures at once. Again, we knew it was busy and we felt for her. However, she used the same tools on us as all the other people. No cleaning/sanitizing whatsoever. It was very gross and I would never go back here again just for that reason. Yes...it was Friday, but it was very early afternoon about 1 o'clock or so. It was busy, so I asked if they had time to do a gel manicure. I was ushered in and seated with no problem, and no warning about how long I would be expected to wait. Throughout this hour and a half process for a simple gel nail manicure that should have taken a maximum of an hour, the owner was taking care of four of us at once, flipping back-and-forth between everyone. The place was packed, and no one was refused, resulting in a back up and rushed service. After the longest time of watching her take care of someone who had walked in after me, I told her I really needed to get going, and it still took a long while until she was able to complete my manicure. I would have left except that I have not had the topcoat on and after all that time I was not about to bail! My manicure came out fine--no complaints. But time is so precious, and for me, part of the manicure is being able to actually enjoy the experience that I am paying for, since I look at it as a splurge. read more

Being so close to my apartment and cheaper to boot than most places, I thought I would give Lovely Nails a try. It was one of the best pedicures I had ever had! Since then I turned my mom and sister on to this place. My mom used to swear by another nail shop, but now only goes here. They just updated their shop a little bit (painted and newer chairs) and it looks nice. But if you're expecting Gene Juarez salon style, don't even bother - this isn't your joint. However, if you're looking for a long foot/leg massage and nicely done toes for 20 bucks, this place is for you. Tips: They accept cards (with fee), so cash is better. I've been using this salon for about 4 years. I do like the new pedicure chairs with massage. The ladies who work there do a great job on pedicures and nail polish - it lasts longer than at other places. They have a large selection of top brand nail polish (OPI, china). They do an okay job of sterilizing - I see them scrub and clean the pedi baths and run the jets with sanitizer after each use. The metal instruments go in a UV sterilization oven, but not always for enough time. I wouldn't recommend a haircut, though. The haircut was technically great, but there wasn't communication with what I wanted. Waxing is good, fast, and cheap. Overall, I like the people, love the prices, and feel very pampered and beautiful when I leave. read more

This salon was great! My past experience with other $20-25 pedicure salons has just been so-so. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. After trying Lovely Nails, I will definitely be back. The things that really stood out to me were: -A huge selection of polish. Other salons may have a ton also, but don't put them back on the rack -Very nice and friendly employees. I do not frequent this place often, but when I do go for a pedicure it is the best. They have the regular pedicure for $15 and then the "special" pedicure for $20 and it is worth every penny. They put on this mint mask stuff that makes your legs tingle. Again, you walk in it's not always the "best" looking on the inside but the service was great. Your typical Vietnamese run nail salon. I'd highly recommend Anna and Tu. Other ladies are OK. They did pretty padicure, and good massage. Wax is also cheap, good, and fast. Looked like they had some good reviews so decided to try it out. The first time I went there I told them my nails were very sensitive but they really didn't listen. My nail got really hot at one point and scared me. She didn't really seem to care. I went there again yesterday to give them another try. No good again. They were all talking to each other and was very distracted by the conversation so I sat there for awhile without her doing anything but talking to her coworkers. I went in for the first time and had a horrible experience. I decided to get acrylics because I have ugly nails from my line of work. I work in healthcare so I have to be really careful about color of nails, length, and shape. I explained that in the beginning and the lady doing my nails kept trying to push me to have them bright, the have them shaped a certain way, and kept arguing with me about length. I finally got her to shorten them to the length I wanted. The whole time she was arguing with me about every decision!! Then when she was actually applying the nails she wasn't really paying attention sometimes and burned/cut my hand with the like sanding tool. I was squirming and saying ouch and she just ignored me or brushed it off with a fake apology! If she was really sorry she wouldn't do it to almost every one of my nails. A different lady painted my nails and did my shellac and before she started I was just sitting in the chair shaking and crying because I was in so much pain. The lady getting her nails next to me was trying to comfort me and was shocked at how bad I was cut up. The actual acrylics look good and I like them but how I was treated was crazy! DO NOT GET ACRYLICS OR GELS HERE!!!! My cuts are starting to get infected and still hurt. I got my nails done on a Thursday and I'm writing this review the following Monday. Still in pain. read more

After reading the mixed reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Sigh....what a disappointment. This is a chronology of events: 1) I walked through the door and a woman said, "Hello. What you need today?" I asked for a shellac and she asked "What color". I asked what was available and she pointed to a filthy basket of nail color samples. As I was looking through the pathetic selection of available colors (at least 70% of the samples had fallen off), I was ordered to "Sit over there!" 2) I didn't have an appointment so figured I would have to wait awhile. As I waited, I looked around and....the salon was filthy. The carpet looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed in a long time, nail dust coated every surface, and the work stations did not appear to be sanitary at all. This isn't a deal breaker, but the place is as drab as can be. 3) Once it was my turn, again I was ordered to "Sit here!". I showed her the color I wanted and I was told that one was old and to "pick another". I chose another and guess what? They didn't have that one either. The technician showed me another color sample palette (which left a LOT to be desired) and I chose one and was old this one glowed in the dark. No thank you. Soooooo....finally, my fourth selection was in stock. 4) I feel a little guilty for being so negative, but...would it be unreasonable to ask that a technician say a few words? Even just "how are you today". The woman was so stern and was yelling at the technicians in the other room. She was also going back and forth between myself and another woman WITHOUT EVER WASHING HER HANDS. The dremel tool was super hot and was burning. I jumped back and she grabbed my hand and pulled it to her and continued. I told her the tool was hot and she said she was almost done. 5) All of the technicians speak English, but they proceeded to speak to one another in Vietnamese. Why do people do this? I guess because they were saying things they didn't want us to understand. 6) When I went to wash my hands, the sink and dispenser were very dirty. I'm not sure when it had last been cleaned. 7) The entire time I was at this salon, I watched technicians using the same files, tools, dremmel bits on each customer. I cringe to think of the fungus and bacteria. I looked Lovely Nails up on the State of Washington Department of Licensing website https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/bpdlicensequery/FinalNoticeDisplay.aspx?ImageRef=2028122009592620. No surprise that they were in violation of health standards. Lovely Nails "failed to meet the minimum safety and sanitation standards at both inspections and is not following safety and sanitation regulations". You can read the letter if you go to the website. Lovely Nails is consistently excellent. A couple of their massage chairs don't work perfectly, but the employees are kind and spend lots of time massaging feet and legs. Getting color on my toes is just an added bonus after an incredible foot rub. My favorite pedicurist is Lan. She barely speaks English, but is incredibly attentive and sweet, and gives the best foot rubs! I always plan to spend an hour or two here when coming for a pedi, because they take their time and really take care of you. As with any nail place, it's best to come when they aren't busy, because they can spend the extra time without being rushed. read more

Also telling me that the colors I picked were ugly and 'too much'. So, I saw the reviews and figured- this must be a great place.. I went to get my nails done here about a week and a half ago. Turns out, I was 100% incorrect and should have stuck to cleaner, more professional, and friendlier nail salons like Milluxury Nail Salon/SO many others. I would just say that if a nail salon looks gross when you first walk in, it probably is. There was nail polish, dirt, tissues, etc. everywhere... The women who I assume is higher up at the salon was so rude the first time I was there and when I went back in to get my nails fixed. Right after I left the salon the first time, my nails already had cracks all along the top, which within the next 24 hours they were all cracked along the top. When I went in to get them fixed, the same lady "fixed" my nails by painting a color over top the cracked polish which made my nails so thick (The nail place I went to today said that was unacceptable and that you have to take all the polish off and redo them when the top coat cracks). She also didn't do a detailed/ good job AT ALL. Almost all my nails had nail polish on the skin, some way worse than others- I had to file/clip the nail polish off. Within 5 days my nail polish was cracking/ peeling off. The lady who did my nails was also really rude (made comments, really snappy), not only to me but also another group of women that came in. I am not sure why or how they have such good reviews, but they were nice to the older "regulars". That being said not having a clean work place, not doing a professional nail painting application(which is why people keep coming back), and having a nasty attitude are not smart business strategies. read more

2nd and final horrible experience! Husband bought a gift certificate not realizing how the service had declined. They double book so plan on your appt time plus 30 minutes. This is the second time the owner has been alternating between me and another customer, while she talks to friends or family on speakerphone. Today after I sat well past my appt time, I inquired if someone could please start as I had somewhere to be and was going to be late, I got attitude, stares and they talked amongst themselves in another language. No apology or concern whatsoever. I missed my second appt. Bottomline, this place does not care about its customers, its all about numbers with as little staff as possible. There are too many better, price equivalent options out there to settle. A better salon Bella Nails and Spa is in Bothell, too, is always clean, well staffed and friendly. They offer free beverages and although always busy they are very respectful of your appointment time. Pass on Lovely Nails it's awful. read more

Consistent customer service doesnt appear to be a priorty here. I used to go here on a regular basis but found that each time i went i felt more and more unappreciated as a customer. The last time i went i had made an appointment but was asked if i could change my time to better fit their needs. I agreed. When i showed up i had to wait an additional 20 plus minutes before someone started the removal of my nails for a new full set of acrylics. As i was waiting there was a customer who had been overlooked and missed. This lady had been waiting 40 plus minutes for a manicure. I think she was there with her daughter who had been given a manicure already. It appeared they had forgotten all about this lady. Even after she tried to tell them she was still waiting they dismissed it and helped others that had just walked in. She finally got up and left. Meanwhile I'm still waiting too. The gal that had been doing my nails for over a year had come over to me and began to soak my nails then walked away. She didn't return ... 20 minutes had gone by with my nails sitting in solution and i had no clue where this woman went and wondered why she wasn't working on me. I finally got up and went to find her. I walked into the other room and found her eating her lunch with the other girls. This was now 40 minutes after the time they told me to come. I was frustrated and left and haven't been back. Below is a review of the same place that was found in the "non recommended reviews". I discovered that non recommended reviews don't factor in on the overall star ratings of the business. Since I've experienced and seen exactly what this woman wrote about in her review i felt it was fair to repost it. "If I could give a negative star rating, I would. I was extremely irked by several things during my visit. My first visit was OK but this visit was inexcusable and I noticed things that weren't as apparent as before. I had 2 main issues: 1) customer service 2) sanitation of equipment Issue 1: Customer service starts when a consumer steps into an establishment. A) Waiting time When I first stepped into the nail salon, I was greeted then asked to pick a color. I told them I want both a manicure and a pedicure. I noticed that they were kind of busy but I picked a color anyways and made my way to the pedicure station that I was indicated for me to sit. So I sat and waited. I thought perhaps someone was finishing up with another customer. Not the case, I waited for over 30 minutes for the actual pedicure to start. I sat with my foot soaking in a blue solution with someone stopping by once and a while to tell me that someone will be coming soon. I was about to leave but as I was about to pick up my phone and belongings, someone sat down in front of me. I was in dire need of a pedicure and I figured that since I've invested that much time in waiting I might as well get my nails done. The problem wasn't waiting. The problem was I was told that someone was coming (twice!) and was made to wait 30 minutes. SUGGESTION: Have a receptionist that can deal with customers and arising issues. Also, communicate to your customers a realistic wait time! B) Communication and unprofessional Once my pedicure was completed. I was ushered to the other room for my manicure. The woman soaked my nails then did the cleaning. THEN SHE STOPPED. At first I thought she went to the bathroom or something. I HAD NO IDEA where she went! So the owner, Anna, hollered my way and told me that she will finish my nails. Unfortunately, Anna was doing someone's manicure so I had to WAIT. I was basically a captive audience at that point! SOLUTION: Don't start start a service you can't finish. DEFINITELY DO NOT ABANDON YOUR CUSTOMER IN THE MIDDLE! It's extremely unprofessional to walk off and not communicate what is going on. If language is a barrier, have someone translate but don't leave your customer confused as to what is going on. Respect your customer's time! Issue 2: Sanitation Sanitation is extremely important and if what I can see is not well sanitized then it leaves me doubtful of what I cannot see. A) Reused Emery Boards/Nail Files B) Pedicure stations were rinsed not sanitized C) At the station next to me, I saw an older lady clip HER nails with a clipper then proceed to clip the nails of a child (customer) without sanitizing. Do not clip your nails in front of a customer! Definitely sanitize after each use. They seem to not care about how they were treating myself and some other clients. In terms of quality: Quality of pedicure: Good cleaning, warm stone massage, and nail polish application Quality of manicure: Not worth it! Rushed job and result was less than mediocre. TOTAL TIME for both services (a manicure and pedicure): 2.5 hours Will not be going here again! Totally irked!" read more

I'm so bummed. I wanted so badly to like this place, as I just moved in within walking distance. Unfortunately, my first experience there was extremely disappointing. I went in today for a mani/pedi, as I had the day off work and I wanted some relaxation. WRONG IDEA. The lady who did my pedicure was awesome. I didn't catch her name, but she is the ONLY reason I'm giving them two stars. She's middle age with bangs - told me about her kids and dog. Sweetest thing ever, plus she did a great job on my toes and a super long massage and complimentary parrafin wax. If I would've left right after the pedi, I probably would have rated this place 4-5 stars. Since I wanted a shellac manicure after my pedi, I was ushered over the the manicure chairs and told "she'll be right with you" several times. I ended up sitting there for about 20 mins before the owner Anna finally walked in the front doors after picking her kids up from school. She sat down in front of me and leisurely looked at some PSE bills and took a couple personal phone calls before finally acknowledging my presence. Well, kind of. She just kind of grabbed my hand roughly and grunted. Didn't even look at me, greet me, or introduce herself. Even then, I'm thinking, oh well.... This is a $20 shellac mani, it's not like I expect white glove treatment. No sooner had she started on my nails, another walk-in customer walked in wanting a manicure. Anna has her sit right next to me, and proceeds to try to do both of our manicures at the same time, hopping back and forth between tables. THIS IS A HUGE PET PEEVE!!! Please do not start a f*cking service if you can't finish it. Grrrrrr. Because of this (and the totally piece of crap low-watt UV lamp they use for shellac), my mani took about 1.5 hours. It would have made it a BIT more palatable if she would have been pleasant to me, but all I got was a general feeling of annoyance from her. To top off the experience, she got done with the mani, wiped off my nails, called for the pedicure lady to cash me out and didn't even give me a massage or even put any goddamn lotion on my hands!!! (Prob because she was too busy finishing the other lady). I tried to say thank you to her like three times and she didn't even look up at me, much less say thank you or tell me goodbye. OH! Also, they ASSURED me that my toes were dry (checked several times) and that I could put on my socks and boots. I said I'd rather leave wearing the flip-flops to be sure, and they basically told me no. (Do they re-use them or somethjng? Wtf?). I came here because I needed a wax and they were close to home/work, and decently priced. However, this was my first time getting a wax and they did not seem to understand that I was a little uncomfortable and new to the experience. They were not very friendly, and had no courtesy or customer service skills, at least non that I recognized as anything less then disgust with the bother of a new client. The staff seem to think that a hand gesture from across the salon is enough to get your attention to lead you back to the supposed "private" waxing room. I always go up to my customer or client and greet them with a hand shake and introduce myself. I didn't catch the woman's name until half way through the appointment when I had to ask her. As far as the treatment goes, I'm guessing they do an alright job, however, it was incredibly painful and the snide comments from her were not helping the situation. The only positive aspect I can walk away with from this experience is the price was within my budget. But I would gladly pay more if it meant better customer service, and overall a better experience. BTW, be sure to get to your appointment at least 20 minutes late. They SAY they open their doors at 9am, but no body showed up until 9:30am, and it's 1 hour parking in front of their store. read more

Best shellac manicures. Awesome pedicures. I always leave happy. My only problem with this salon is that they are ALWAYS busy. On average if I walk in, it takes a 2-2.5 hours to get my manicure and pedicure. The quality is great if you have the time to wait for it. I've been coming to lovely nails for 10 years. I know so many people who get their nails done here, and they all love it. The ladies who work here are so nice and they do such a wonderful job. The massage (the best part, of course!) is really long and includes hot stone massage (for a pedicure). Amazing! The salon is always clean and I never worry about safety or sanitization when I come here. One time, I forgot my flip flops at home and one of the employees offered to let me borrow her own pair. The staff at Lovely Nails makes you feel like family. I used to visit another salon now and then in college (because it was closer), but sometimes, I would drive an hour from school just to get my nails done here. Totally worth it! I was very disappointed. I came in 3 times to confirm they could take 8 people today at the same time (8 mani's/3 pedi's) - they kept assuring me they could and would have enough people. They had 2 people doing 8 manicures. Took 2.5hrs for all of us to be finished. It was ridiculous. My finger nails do look nice except they're not all the same length. But they only polished my nails. No hand/arm massage, no lotion on my hands and arms - I was very disappointed. They also took so long that the bride couldn't finish her toes before we had to leave for another appointment. Who would have thought 1.5hrs wouldn't be enough time for a mani/pedi. Fortunately we had time later to come back. My toe nails are a different story. They did a great job massaging my legs but the water was either burning hot or freezing cold. She also cut my nails to the quick - literally couldn't cut it any farther down without bleeding. And the polish looks terrible. There's weird ripples and when I asked if she did a top clear coat, she had no clue what I was talking about. Lovely Nails is an OK nail salon. When I first walked in for a pedicure, we weren't greeted but simply pointed to the other room to grab a nail color. Once we sat down in our chairs, we waited approximately 10 minutes before someone came and turned on my water. The pedicure was a good length and was very thorough. However, the lady doing my pedicure talked the ENTIRE time to the lady next to her in Vietnamese. I could tell at some points that they were talking about me or another customer. Their sanitation seemed OK as well. Not too great, not too bad. If you have no other nail salon, I'd suggest going here. Where to start.... First when we walked in, no one greeted us. Then when they did, it was "what you here for?" Im getting a manicure for these two girls "go over there" she says and points across the room. Well when we get to the seats they pointed to, some other woman tells us "no not there, THERE!" And points to the chairs across the room. Okay.... Should have just walked out then. After 40 minutes of waiting, another woman takes my child and put her in the chair we were originally instructed to sit. The lady doing her nails was very rough with her. Didn't instruct her to place her arms or fingers, just roughly grabbed them and forced them where she wanted them. After the first child was done, the same woman told my other daughter in a VERY rude tone, "HURRY HURRY! SIT SIT!" She's four and was placing the nail polish she had on the nail counter. Another customer I was sitting next to said "If that were my child, I wouldn't put up with that." And that's exactly what we did. I paid for the first, used a gift card (thank god I didn't have to spend my money here). They immediately started talking amoungest each other in their language, like I was the one being rude. I promptly took my daughter to another nail location across the street where there they treated her like a princess. If you're looking for a place with even a sliver of customer service, this is not the place for you. But if you don't mind, I still have 40.00 on the gift card you are welcome have! read more
