Visited this place today for lunch with my family. I the prominent thing about this restaurant is the horrible service. It's actually quite difficult for me to figure out where to start because they missed the mark so far in so many areas of proper restaurant service. I'll start with the overall politeness of the server. Upon entering the restaurant, the cashier (who is also the server) looked at us while he was ringing up another customer and figured out after an awkward couple of minutes that it was our first time there. He then said to us "just sit down" when communicated to him that we were there to eat. Is it really that hard to say "Please seat yourself and i'll be right with you as soon as I can"? Strike one. He did arrive at our table promptly and passed out menus. After a couple of minutes he came back and asked for our drink and food orders. We gave him our drink orders and told him we would need a few minutes for the food order. Typically, I expect a check back in 2 to 5 minutes max if I inform a server that I would need a few minutes. It took him about 15 minutes to return. Strike two. When he did finally return to our table to take our food orders, he did not have a pen and pad in hand. I don't mind, in fact, I applaud those people who have photographic memories and can remember everything upon the first time hearing it. However, most people do not have this gift and this server/cashier/cook/dishwasher had to repeat to himself the orders for 4 adults and 2 kids aloud 3 times in front of the table. How much effort would it have taken to scratch down on a pad what we were going to order?? All I can attribute to this is laziness. He got 2 things wrong with our orders. Strike three. The order that the food arrived was totally screwed up. We got 2 entrees promptly, maybe 15 minutes after our orders were placed, which would normally be acceptable, except that we ordered 3 apps first! So after the first 2 entrees arrived (vegan burgers), 2 apps arrived about 10 minutes later. The other 2 entrees arrived 15 minutes after that, then a vegan pizza entree for the kids, and finally when we were finished and ready to pay and leave, the last app arrived with a cappuccino that was ordered in the very beginning with the drink order. Appalling! Strike four. I would not suggest for anyone to dine here, unless you actually like poorly-timed and bad (the server was not polite at all) service. The food was actually decent. I'm saying decent because i'm a hard-core carnivore, and I actually mildly enjoyed the food. I would have dined here again had the service not been disgustingly poor. read more

OK so if I were rating purely on food, I would give this place 4 stars. However, ambiance is a cross between a cafeteria and a wellness spa, quiet and a bit lifeless, so a 2 star max. However service would rate a 1 star. Most likely this place is run by some militant aging hippies who know about great vegan/asian food but know very little about restaurant management. No; the service was pretty terrible. One very soft-spoken guy was kind of friendly but very absent from the dining room and the woman who was working with him was noteably unfriendly and seemed to take orders in a random occurence rather than in order of who was seated first, thus of the 6 tables in the place of which we were seated 2nd, we had our order taken last and many people who came in after us were eating before we even got to place our order. They also had a lot of timing issues: 1. We had been done with our appetizers for a good 5-10 minutes before they ever resurfaced to take our entree order. 2. They offer free refills on tea, but my glass had been empty a good 20 minutes before they ever offerred to refill (and it was at the very end of our meal). 3. My wife's entree came out a good 5 minutes before mine and hers was lukewarm compared to mine which was quite hot. Having said all those negative things, almost everything we ordered was awesome, well priced with decent portions and that was what kept them from getting 1 star. The food is asian inspired (although somehow pizza, french fries and naan bread (really a chapati they called naan, but yummy) made it on the menu too) and all vegan with lots of veggies, inventive fake meat substitutes & sauces and extremely fresh produce and GMO (and presumably MSG) free. In looking at their website I see they are a large nation-wide chain, which is surprising as it doesn't feel like that (nor does it operate like someone who understands a multi-unit operation runs it). I will probably never go back, at least not to this location, and if I do, it will be for take-out. read more

Thanks to William G for showing up for the OTP lunch bunch UYE so I wouldn't have to eat alone. First, let me say that if I'm going to eat vegan, I intend to eat vegetables and vegetable protein, not vegetable protein made to taste/look/imitate animal protein. It seems to me that if you make the decision to not eat meat, you wouldn't want to eat "meat" either.... With that in mind some of the recommended menu items were off my list. Luckily, most of my no "meat" options were also on the lunch special menu. I opted for the Holy Eggplant with brown rice for my entree. While we waited for the entrees, we dove into the Summer Rolls. Lots of noodles, could've used a few more crispy potato shreds and more cilantro. Others had mentioned slow service, but it seemed standard lunch time wait for food to me. And the servers were so friendly! The plates looked beautiful. The brown sauce on the eggplant was a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy, just the way I like it. The eggplant had a nice tender texture. The cucumbers had a nice crispiness to give some textural diversity to the dish. I recommend. I got a bite of William's bok choy stir fry, and it was good. Compared to the eggplant the sauce was thinner and more on the tangy side. But the veggies were crisp and flavorful. The highlight of the lunch was the vegan coconut cake. The key to good coconut cake is moisture. This cake was moist with just the right amount of sweet and coconut flavor, highlighted with the toasted coconut on the frosting. I recommend a trip here for the coconut cake alone! It's a really cozy space too, with covered deck out front, a sun room with armchairs and the bakery counter, and the dining area, which is mellow and bright with white tables and green accents. Between the great food, the friendly service, and the calming vibe, it's definitely a hut full of (platonic) love. read more

One day at work I was bored and using my Yelp app to find food nearby for lunch. It was looking pretty bleak. But then guess what popped up as being 6.7 miles away!! WOOO!! My veg coworkers and I put together an order and called it in and I was on my way to vegan lunch paradise! I decided to try not to be a fatty for once and got fresh basil rolls. They were filled with lettuce, basil, rice noodles, and tofu with a peanut dipping sauce. And they were delicious and huge. And of course I ate them both. I got the Au Lac Crepe which tasted like a cross between a crepe and an omelet and had a spicy dipping sauce. I even found two skrimps in it that I wasn't expecting, and they tasted like you'd expect vegan "shrimp" to taste, I guess. It was pretty good. And of course I ate it all. I'm looking forward to more lunches there. But can I throw this out into the air and see if the Supreme Master hears me and would open one of these IN THE CITY?? If they really want to make money they would be rich as the Pope if they put one in Midtown somewhere. read more

My advice: Get takeout. Here's why: If my rating were based solely on the food, I might give The Loving Hut (with it's ridiculous name) 5 stars. I had the pad thai with crispy dumplings for an appetizer, and they were excellent. My lady friend was very pleased with her Saintly Stir-Fry. And it was a great value with leftovers from our $9 entrees. But the service is almost non-existent. I don't require white-jacket service and I certainly don't expect it at a place like this, but I hate when a dining experience just devolves into confusion, where the conversation with my date turns from whatever we were amusing each other with while we enjoyed our meal to discussing the likelihood of ever receiving the check or any attention whatsoever from the staff. We were never even offered drinks, just given water, which is odd considering the number of delicious-sounding juices on the menu. Dessert was likewise never mentioned, and again it's their loss because they have a number of options that I could have been talked into. In fact, once our food came nobody ever came back to our table, with the exception of the kid filling water glasses. He was the one I asked for some to-go boxes, which completely confused him. I watched him wander around, in and out of the back, for several minutes before he finally found some containers for us, a stack of which I could see from my seat the whole time. And then when we finally flagged down a server for our check, you'd think we'd asked him if he thought life had meaning or if our consciousness was just a big cosmic joke we're playing on ourselves; he looked both confused and horrified at the same time, and it took him even longer than the water kid to complete his task. And of course you pay at the front, a fact I only divined by watching other diners, because nobody in this place is particularly forthcoming with anything useful. Just bizarre. So like I said: get takeout. It's delicious. read more

By far my favorite vegan place. Anytime I visit here I have to make a stop here. Literally everything I've ever had from here has been delicious and the staff are all really nice. My favorite is the bao or the avocado bakon sandwich and definitely try the cheesecake. A fantastic place for vegans and meat eaters alike. read more

The food is good, but the service absolutely stinks. I am actually a little baffled at how bad the service was. I had a feeling we weren't wanted there. I'm not sure if the server even spoke to us, or if he just came over to our table & stood there & stared at us until we ordered. The 2 people I was eating with got their food kind of at the same time (one came out, then about 3 minutes passed & the other came out). I had to sit there for 5-10 more minutes with no food. I told my friends to go ahead & eat theirs so that it didn't get cold, but it kind of sucked that I had to sit there & wait. When he finally brought my plate to me I kind of scooted back so he could sit it down & when he didn't sit it down I looked at him & he insisted on handing the plate to me. He sat my friend's dishes right in front of them. EFFING WEIRD. Possibly the weirdest service I have EVER RECEIVED. When we went to pay, there was some strange fiasco going on with the woman in line in front of us. Something about being overcharged on tax. I don't know. I don't need a server to hold my hand & ask me about my day, but I do appreciate it when they are pleasant & actually speak to me & treat me like a person. P.S. I got The Loving Hut Roll. It was very tasty...but, enjoying it was a little difficult because of the horrible service & strange atmosphere. I won't be back. read more

If you want vegan - or even vegetarian - and live in this area, I think this may be your only choice aside from the typical "settle for" options of most restaurants. Suburbs are never conducive to that sort of lifestyle, but this area seems especially bad. Then again, this is on the edge of a region that features some very good Chinese, Indian and Vietnamese food, which are the three styles that make up most of the menu at Loving Hut. We attempted to patronize a well-rated restaurant of the first variety one evening, but they didn't seem to want to open, so we came here if only out of proximity and curiosity. I had looked at the menu online previously, and it looked interesting. I also thought it was interesting that this place is actually a chain, with locations in the Phoenix area even. Then again, I'm sure it's as close to locally-operated as you can get, but probably with a standardized menu. The store is addressed Spalding but it actually faces Holcomb Bridge, on the northwest corner of that intersection. The complex it's in is a mix of retail and offices and is all designed to look sort of like a group of houses. It lends itself well to the odd "Loving Hut" name. The interior is especially sterile and somewhat unnerving. The front door leads into a room with a counter at the front. This may be where the lunch buffet sits, but, at dinner, you're met and led to a table in the other room. Everything is bright with flourescents and in white or low colors. The other room features very little in the way of decor, save for a few pieces of art, a large television, and several paragraphs painted on a wall near the television. What was on the television and what was painted in those paragraphs lend to the "unnerving" part of the atmosphere. As we sat, I started to realize that this chain may be some sort of business manifestation of a Buddhism-based "cult." I'm sure the members of this group would resent my "cult" label, but that's the clear message I got here. The funniest thing that drove some of our conversation was that one of the things painted on the wall had five suggestions on how to save the earth, with one item being "drive a hybrid car." I won't get too much into why that's stupid, but it sort of dictates my opinion of this style of New Age thought that attempts to clearly separate itself from popular organized religions while still remaining in the comfort zone of those who are accustomed to them. And before you get on me personally, much of my immediate family members are practicing Buddhists, so it's not that I just don't understand the basis and philosophies behind it. But I'm not denouncing the restaurant because of my perceptions on the philosophies of their ownership. Shit, there's a restaurant in Tucson run by Hare Krishnas and I think it's one of the best places in town, even though they do corral you into their gift shop upon entering or exiting their restaurant, which I think is annoying. No, the food kinda sucks here. We ordered three items: BBQ Pork Spring Noodles, Royal Noodle Soup and Mung Dahl. We requested the soup come out first and that was done. In general, the service was good and the people were very nice. The soup was described as very spicy but it wasn't really that spicy. It had some chili oil kick in it so that, if you inhaled at the wrong time, you got some chili vapor down your throat. It was basically a pho. The thing I didn't like about it is that they put two different kinds of mock meat in there, one of which was this mock ham that had a really, really funky taste. I tried, I really did, but it just got to be too much. The BBQ Pork Spring Noodles is also more of a Vietnamese style dish, much like a bun. It was noodles on a bed of lettuce with mock meat covered in peanuts and a light sauce, flanked by fried spring rolls. The mock meat was called "pork" but it really looked and tasted like beef. This was also in the soup. It was tasty, but I felt like it was a little misleading to call this "BBQ Pork" when the mock meat looked and tasted much more like beef. The Mung Dahl is where the real detriment to the rating comes from. The naan it was served with was fried and, as a result, was overly oily. The dahl looked a little gross (although dahl usually does) and it didn't taste very good. It had chickpeas, potatoes and, of course, mung beans, but it was still lacking in a very definitive flavor. The flavor that was there, I can only describe as marshmellow. Seriously, it was really funky and, after a few bites, neither of us could handle it. It wasn't overly offensive, it just got to you after a while. It may have been the fact that the portion had at least seven bay leaves in it. I've never seen that many in a single serving. So the dahl was not taken home and over half of it was left, and I never leave food. I did finish off the naan, but it just wasn't that good. read more

I pass this place everyday in my long commute and have been wanting to try it. I finally made it in last night. I was worried at first when my friend and I were the only patrons but after tasting our starter we were quickly won over. The starter was the B.BQ Sticks ($5.95) and is described as a texture vegetable protein (TVP) of imitation beef, lemon grass, and sesame seeds. Next up were the main courses... I chose the Almighty Steak ($8.95) - Textured soybean protein, wheat protein, mushroom cucumber, tomato, and cilantro. It was AMAZING! My friend chose the Loving Hut Rolls ($8.95) - Bean curd, zucchini, carrot, baby cord salad with vegan mayonnaise dressing. Another fantastic dish! I loved the food and will be back. read more

Came here for Christmas dinner with friends and the buffet was pretty fabulous. It was hard to tell that everything was vegan and mostly gluten-free because it tasted so good. "Beef" kabobs, miso soup, veggie sushi rolls, tofu-wrapped rice... yum! I would love to take my vegan friends here should they come to visit. My issue, however, is all of the propaganda. It's the same idea as PETA only less in your face and abrasive, yet it seemed more like a creepy cult with the grand master thing and the books being passed around. I do eat meat on occasion and it's my personal choice. I respect those who don't. It'd be much nicer if we could all get along and respect each other's reasons without being creepy or abrasive. Definitely glad this spot isn't the latter, but being the former is still obnoxious enough. read more

I used to live right around the corner from this place and have always wanted to try it. I've read the reviews. Saw the menu and everything. I was really excited to try this place. But, for some reason, I'm a bit disappointed. My mother and I stopped by this place this past weekend for some lunch. We were promptly seated by a young man with braces. What looked like his little brother sat on the couch reading a book. I'm assuming this is a family-run joint? While we looked at the menu, the man who seated us brought us waters and answered some questions about basil rolls that my mother had. We decided to try the basil roll and BBQ sticks for appetizers. While we sat outside and enjoyed the weather (and pollen) we looked over the menu. It looks pretty expansive compared to the little menu I thought they would have. In about 5 minutes, our appetizers came out. My mother LOVED the basil rolls. They went on and on about how good they were. She scooped some peanut sauce into every bite she had. To me, they were just okay. Not much flavor. Nothing special. The peanut sauce was necessary for me. I preferred the BBQ sticks. The textured soy protein was spot on. If I handed my husband that dish, he would not know that he wasn't eating beef. The sesame sauce was really good and added to the soy protein. Served on kabobs, they were easy to push off with a fork. I wish I ordered more of these! After hearing so many good things about it, I decided to try the Saintly Stir Fry. I was bummed that it didn't blow my mind like I thought it would. The stir-fry was served fresh and hot, which I appreciate, but it lacked something. I can't put my finger on it, but nothing "wowed" me. It tasted like the take-out I order from up the street. The soy protein pieces were nice, but the tofu was soggy and bland. I pushed my tofu to the side and avoided it. The noodles were cooked nicely, but bland as well. My mother ordered the Guru Curry and had a similar experience. The soup itself was really good, full with creamy curry and very flavorful, but her tofu was awful. It wasn't even cooked. And her soy protein came in mushy chunks. She, too, avoided the proteins and just ate the soup. Maybe I set my hopes too high? Maybe I came in with impossible standards? Maybe the chef was having an off day? I'm not sure. I know this place has potential, so I'll be back to try some different items. read more

The food here is sensational. Truly. Everything I've ever ordered at the Loving Hut has been some of the best food I've had at a restaurant. The desserts are definitely my favorites, as being allergic to milk means that I pretty much never get to eat dessert at a restaurant, and all of them are fantastic. The bok choy stir fry and the fried rice are some entree favorites. However, like others have said, the service is terrible. Everybody looks angry, and acts like it's really tedious to serve me. I've been the first customer in the door, and they still seem angry. The server disappears for long periods of time, sometimes before I've ordered. This has happened every time I've gone. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and good for groups. If they worked as hard on customer service as they do on their food, they'd be one of the top restaurants in the north metro. read more

I love the location in Norcross so I was excited to be in the area and check this place out. The menu is not as extensive as the other location but the space is bright and cheerful and the staff friendly. I ordered the spring roll appetizer and the House Curry. I highly recommend the curry, it was packed with brocolli and cauliflower and came in a huge bowl with a side of rice. The broth was delicious and not too spicy. I would definitely get it again and I will most definitely come back here to try a few other things on the menu that caught my eye. Despite a kinda awkward vibe, I really enjoyed the Loving Hut. Really nice people, it's just that on a friday night at 7pm, we were the first table to show up. Eventually they got up to 4 tables by the time we left, but initially it was the sound of silence and a refrigerator unit coming on and off. They turned on a radio, and that helped. We had no problem at all with service. We had our appetizer within 5 minutes, and our dishes before we were done with the appetizer. Some of the servers (I have no idea which one was our server) were shy, but then someone walking around (I'm guessing the owner?) took time to talk to every table. Eventually though, we settled in and everything we ordered was pretty delicious. I've been meaning to try this place forever, but with the groupon I could actually convince my husband to go with me. We are not veggie, much less vegan, but that isn't a problem. The food is delicious by food standards, not by vegan standards. Unsweet iced tea. brewed with cinnamon I believe. really yummy. Spicy Cha Cha Cha - she said all the groupon/non vegan customers order this. Tastes like Bang Bang Shrimp at the Fishbone, but actually made with tapioca and yam. YUM!! Loving Hut Roll - Rolled up bean curd in brown sauce with brown rice and salad. Tasty, this is pretty much what I was expecting, this one feels a little more like vegan food. still good! Loving Hut is a solid vegan restaurant that is one of my go to places because I know they'll deliver whether I want to eat light or in a mood for a heavy meal. Vegans and non-vegans can enjoy the food. They also have one Saturday every month where they offer a buffet of various select dishes which is a great way to sample a lot of their menu. Let's get to the food; the below are my favs: Appetizer - Basil Rolls Summer Rolls - potato flakes make this! BBQ Sticks Sushi Rolls Main Dishes- Vegan Burger Au Lac Crepe (Not good heated the next day for me) Holy Eggplant Teriyaki Broccoli (a good dish for a non-vegan) Desserts- Coconut Cake Chocolate Raspberry Mousse The cookies deserve an honorable mention because they are a perfect blend of dense cookie and a muffin top. There are also limited vegan and health products available to purchase, which is convenient. While I am a regular and think their service is good, I used to be frustrated by the service when I first started going which are still prevalent and relaxed service attitude that should be improved. read more

I did not know what to think at first about this place. Some vegetarian eating establishments have been quite unique. This one has menu items that I understand. Many years ago I tried a place in Little Five Points, Atlanta. I understood neither the menu nor the server who was trying (not very hard in fact) to provide an explanation of the items served there. This place is much better. This time I understood the menu and the server. They seemed to know the menu and the items on it. Wow! What a difference that can make. I had the Basil roll (3.95). It tasted fresh and the sauce that came withit was excellent. I also had the.Chow Mein (8.95). It was a sizable portion. I ordered the Small Wonton soup (2.95). The wonton soup was quite good. I regret not getting a larger size. It was very tasty. My wife certainly thought so. This diminished my soup significantly. The Wild Raspberry Tea was very good. They are not stingy with their portions either. I enjoyed the food here. I will have to return soon. 50/100 read more

Oh man! This place stole my heart! "Be Veg, Go Green, Save the Planet" their moto! Healthy Asian Food and Green Eco-friendly operations make this restaurant all about the Love. I went for lunch and tried the non-meat Almighty Steak and the Basil Roll. So yummy! The steak, is made from textured soybean and wheat protein, yet the flavor is so delicious! I'm not a veg, but I loved this steak! Paired with tomatoes, cucumber, and rice, I gobbled down every last bit! After that we tried the non-dairy cheescake and it's textured so creamy and was very satisfying! They only have once location here in Georgia, but I look forward to seeing them expand into more areas! :) read more

Great food, great service and nice atmosphere. The people there are nice and friendly. They seat you right away. Ive tried the golden rice, holy eggplant, the pho, and if you realky want to go all out try their saturday buffets. You will have to roll out of that place in a wheel barrow. Dont try their pizza. Otherwise you cant really go wrong with much else in their menu. Also i think its kinda weird that they dont take your name when you call in for take out. Place is pretty much perfect otherwise. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. I'm a vegetarian so it's difficult to find places that I can comfortably eat at. I've tried almost everything on the menu. My favorites are the sweet and sour island and I absolutely love the chow mien. the Hawaiian pizza is also really good too! The crazy thing is the 'cheese' isn't made from milk, it's made from tofu, so my sister who is lactose can eat it. My favorite appetizers I like to get is the golden tofu and the golden nuggets. They're perfectly fried and especially when they're steaming hot, it's still really good. The reason I'm giving it four stars out of five, is the service is somewhat lacking. I've been here countless times, I come with my family and friends but the service is always a struggle. The food is amazing but the service is eh. They can sometimes be pretty rude and forget about you sometimes, but I try to look past it because the food is worth the wait! read more

Best vegan restaurant I've gone to in the Atlanta area. I ordered the fried rice, the veggie potstickers/dumplings, mung daal w/naan, and 3 different cakes (chocolate, peanut butter, and carrot cake). The fried rice was so good! I was very surprised at that too because it was made with brown rice; but when paired with the vegan beef bits, peas, carrots, tofu, and cilantro it was a dish that left nothing to be desired in the realm of flavor. The veggie potstickers/dumplings were a bit softer than I'm used to but the veggie filling was quite nice and it tasted very good with soy sauce. The mung daal was good, the consistency of it made for a great dipping process with their naan, it was also enjoyed. Now for the cake. The chocolate cake was rich and decadent, not dry in the slightest like some other places. The peanut butter chocolate cake was delectable! I normally scrape off frosting, but in this case the frosting was like an aerated peanut butter, so it only served to make the cake more delicious. I'm not big on carrot cake, but I enjoyed the taste and texture of this one and it had real bits of shredded carrot! 10/10 experience at the Loving Hut! Can't wait to come back! read more

Stopped by there a week ago and ordered the BBQ Sticks, small wonton soup, Raspberry/ Cherry topping cheesecake, and Bakchoy Stirfry. WOW!!!!! Food is so good!!! The BBQ Sticks are sprinkled with sesame seeds and made with a chewy texture almost jerky like but so good in the mouth!!! The cheesecake was made with guava like raspberry or cherry topping that glides down your throat with heavenly pleasure!!! The soup and Bakchoy has flavor but those you can get almost anywhere. I think I will definately reorder again as I got hungry writing this review!!! read more

My daughter and I visited here and the food was great. I had the spring rolls and she had the Pad Thai. Both meals were gluten free and the restaurant uses very healthy items to cook with such as non GMO products. There is plenty information to read there about healthy eating, vegans, etc. I learned a lot about both while we were there. I would recommend this place to others. I love this place so much. I've always ordered take out never dined in so I cannot comment on that experience. My food has always been ready and waiting for me each time I've called in my order. Everything that I've ever eaten here has been delicious such as BBQ Spring Noodle with Spring rolls, Combo Cha Cha, Golden Rice, Pho , and Saintly Stir Fry to name a few. The cakes offered are out of this world especially the hummingbird cake YUM. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are fairly sized where I always have left overs. I decided to visit on Sat, Aug 20 for their monthly buffet. The buffet included several yummy entrees including coconut curry fried rice, Asian tofu & veggie stir fry, vegan pizza, Lomein, a soy roll, kale/cabbage salad, kale lentil soup, 2 delicious desserts and more!!! They even included a mango tea and alkaline water. Everything I tasted was seasoned and prepared well. Although the place was fairly crowded, the kitchen managed to keep the buffet refreshed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. What I loved most is the number of families eating vegan together. This will definitely be a regular stop on my list. read more

I think this place should really highlight that it is considered vegan fast food. Otherwise it may not be a good representation of really good veg dining. When you put it in tho perspective of it being fast food (which I did not know until today) then it changes how you rate it, ie. mid-review I gave it an additional star because I would way choose this place over typical fast-food chains. But let us start a some of the problems with it as if you didn't know it was vegan fast food (as I did not when I ate there.) Perhaps, it was the dishes that tried too hard to make it look and taste like meat. In my experience, it usually takes away from the taste instead of adding to it - with a few exceptions. I wish, instead, they had concentrated more on highlighting how great veg dishes can taste (and boy can they!) rather than "look how close to meat this tastes like." We started with the Basil Rolls and the soy protein was made to look and taste like ham and turkey (although it DOES NOT say that on the menu.) Had the protein been taking out or not infused with some fake meat tasting product, I would have actually liked it. I tried to pick the soy out, but it just didn't work for me. For my entrée, I had the Au Lac Crepe. Again, the soy protein was made to give it a ham flavor. Again, it did not state this on the menu. The crepe would have been much better without that addition. Still it wasn't bad; not great, but not bad. On the bland side until I added salt (I didn't realize that the sauce set on the table was suppose to go with it. Thought that was for one of the other dishes.) When we arrived at 8pm, my husband and I noticed that they close at 9pm. On a Friday night. The occupancy reflected that, ie. other than our party of 4 and an Indian party of 12-14, the place was empty. The reason I mention Indian party because I thought it odd when my friend (who like my husband, is also Indian) informed me that the waitress had told him they "they" were not the target market Loving Hut was looking for: LH wanted to bring more meat eaters in. Happily our friend informed her that 3 of us were meat eaters. This goes to the crux of the problem. Having looked into vegetarianism and having several westerner friends that are veg, usually only ppl (westerners) trying to convert go for the faux meat. And my guess is, many don't convert because it doesn't taste good. If there was more exposure to truly great veg items that didn't try and taste like meat - you'd have more people eating them. THAT SAID, my Chinese friend informed me that faux meat is extremely common, particularly among Buddhists, in China. Since Loving Hut is an international chain (tons of restaurants opening in Asia) and the US is a melting pot, it will be interesting to see how successful the carry over is. But enough of the negative and philosophical pondering... Our table shared the Spicy Cha Cha Cha dish and besides the awesome name, it was super delish. Seriously good. I could order one of those as my entrées and would have been super happy. There was also an order of Crispy Dumplings that though I didn't get to try (they were gone too fast) everyone assured me they were quite good. Our server and the rest of the staff we encountered were very friendly and everything came promptly. One of my friends informed us that they separately sell all of their dishes frozen as well in case you want to make some at home. I love the concept of helping to convert to veg and helping the planet. If I'm nearby and want something fast I'd be inclined to go back, but I'd ask more questions about if a dish has some faux meat flavoring added. P.S. Bonus points because they have O.J. read more

I am vegetarian NOT vegan btw. I visited the Loving Hut with a couple of my friends. Once I walked in you could definitely tell it was outdated but it still had some zen. The lady at the front gave us menus and we found a place to sit. One of my friends just couldn't find anything to eat so he got a slice of the chocolate cake, and I was shocked how well it tasted without milk and eggs. It took me a while to find something on the menu that seemed interesting to me. So, I started off with an appetizer, I got the basil rolls. I thought it was good but not great, I enjoyed the sauce it came with though. Also, I tried their mango smoothie (which I thought was delicious). I finally ordered the Thai noodles and I got it with mushrooms since I LOVE mushrooms. Once the food came out it was a ginormous mountain of noodles. It could feed four or more people. It was the heaviest bowl I ever picked up in a restaurant. I couldn't wait to devour the mushrooms but they were dreadful. If you can't cook with mushrooms properly than don't even have it as an option. I proceeded to try it and the tofu tasted awful to me but the noodles were fine. I just wasn't use to the type of texture, so it was a no for me. However, the bathrooms were nice and clean. I wish it was less bland and had more color, but I loved the quotes on the wall. Also, our server didn't have a name; on our check it said "Buddha". Overall, I love the concept of healthy cuisine and a restaurant that adheres to vegetarian/vegan diets. read more

Awesome food! This was the first time my sister and I have visited a vegan restaurant and this place was an absolute pleasant experience. I love how the restaurant has a small self-serve station for small utensils (plates, napkins, silverware, etc), making it super convenient for customers. Our server was excellent as well and showed a moderate amount of personal attention. We've only been vegan for a few weeks, but this restaurant makes me want to stay vegan forever! I was even a little suspicious considering whether is the meat was actually fake, but it was just that amazing! read more

Loving Hut continues to impress us with their delicious food and prompt service. We only visit about twice a month (due to location) but they are very consistent. We had a delightful experience again today at lunch. The crispy tofu is amazing and we tried the Cha Cha Cha for the first time , excellent it was! For a refreshing healthy variety of vegan foods to eat, look no further than this hometown establishment. This was the best (vegan) pad Thai recipe both my partner and I have ever had. It was just enough sauce and the right amount of kick to set off your tastebuds on a rollercoaster of flavors. And the ride gets even better with the fresh peppers and tomatoes. The guru curry is also a great choice if you like a mildly spicy vegetable soaked dish. I enjoyed the rice but I would opt for the noodles the next time around. The basil roll appetizer was beyond delicious paired with the sweet peanut sauce for a great sweet and fresh taste. And we couldn't help but enjoy the best alkaline restaurant water we've had to date. All in all, I would recommend this establishment to all of your friends and family even if they aren't vegan. We went to the Loving Hut with a Groupon and were happy with the food. As many reviewers note, there are few vegan/vegetarian options in the Atlanta area so this is a nice addition to the short list. I would recommend the "sushi rolls" - very good! I did not want to go higher then 3 because of the service. Clearly the servers, chef, and others who were helping did not have a plan when serving their customers. Everyone's server was everyone...it seemed quite chaotic for a while. This is a mixed review coming from a hardcore vegan couple. The food is excellent but tends to be a little calorie-dense. We don't cook like this at home, added oils, coconut, lots of fake cheese, etc. But once in a while it's okay. Especially the vegan deserts... They have a buffet once a month and that's the best way to hit the place for your first time. The table service can be trying; I had terrible service there and outstanding service. It really varies toward each end of the spectrum. They took my order one time, brought my wife's food, never brought mine. I alerted the wait staff several times. After a half hour they finally brought it and I wrapped it up and we left. Other times it's perfect. But the buffet is always good. Messy but good.... read more

Ate lunch here on Wednesday, 6/26, with my partner, J. Arrived around 1:00 and there was a line in the entry area (I'm assuming either ordering take-out or picking up take-out). We proceeded to the dining area where 5 tables were occupied by customers. I thought that was a good sign for mid-week lunch. We asked the one waiter if we could sit anywhere and he said yes, followed us to the table we chose and handed us the menus. My partner and I are aspiring vegans and have been scoping out various vegan/vegetarian restaurants. We live ITP but head out to the Forum from time to time and wanted to try Loving Hut since it's in the area. I read the reviews and wanted to like the LH and I did! Service is slow as mentioned in other reviews but that's OK for me. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking in the dining room but it's pleasant enough. I like that the menu has good pictures (not cheesy, out-of-focus ones) of the items you order. The waiter was quiet but friendly enough. We asked for recommendations and he gave us lots of what he considered were good choices. I ordered the Golden Rice and J ordered the Rainbow Salad. Both entries were $8.95, I believe. They were really good and the amounts were huge! We took home enough leftovers for lunch the next day! We didn't order dessert but they looked INCREDIBLE as we saw another table order what appeared to be a huge piece of carrot cake and a slab of chocolate cake. They're all vegan too! As info, there is an area where you pick up food and pay your bill--I mentioned it earlier. It looked very comfortable with overstuffed chairs and smaller bistro-like tables. We saw one person sitting there and eating when we checked out. In addition, there is a large outdoor seating area. These both looked like great places to get some dessert and hang out with friends. We spoke with the woman in the front who took our payment and complimented her and the restaurant and she was pleased. She explained that every 3rd Saturday they have an all-you-can eat buffet for $11.95 from noon until 6:00--I'm not positive on the price or times, though. She said it's a good way to sample lots of different things. We're not big buffet eaters--we tend to overeat in those situations--but for the price we may just try it to sample the many other items we thought looked and sounded interesting. We really enjoyed our first visit to Loving Hut. We will definitely be back even if it means we have to make special trips just to eat there. read more
