Low Country Shrimper is hands down my favorite spot for Southern seafood in the Greenville area. I've tried just about everything on the menu--scallops, shrimp, oysters, catfish--and whether it's a combo plate, a po' boy, or a lunch basket, it's always fire. The seafood is consistently fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The fried items are perfectly crispy without being greasy, and the portion size won't leave you wanting. Let's talk sides: the fries, slaw, corn, and baked beans all hit like a Triple off the left field wall--but the hush puppies? Lawd. Golden, crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside, and a touch of sweetness. I could eat a basket of those alone...and I may or may not have done this. Everything I've had here tastes like it belongs at the family cookout, and you'd better have your plate ready cause it's gonna be gone the moment it comes out the fryer. This place is a treasure--chill, dive-like feel, and absolutely delicious. If you're in the area and craving Southern seafood, Low Country Shrimper is a must. I came here right when they opened and I'm glad I did because they get busy with to go orders on top of people coming in and dining. The owner was very friendly and patient. He was so kind and did everything. I got a couple of lunch specials because I couldn't resist. The prices were cheap and I wanted to try a little bit of everything. The fried food was cooked great and not too heavy. The spicy corn had the right amount of spice. My favorite was the popcorn shrimp but the fried fish was so juicy on the inside and so crispy on the outside. The owner stopped by before we left and talked to us. First timer here! My husband and I came for lunch. First, the young man at the counter was killing it! Idk his relation with the establishment but their lucky to have him. The food was good. I loved my shrimp but not my whiting. It wasn't well seasoned in my opinion and pretty thin, thinner than others I've had. My husband had the shrimp burger and he liked it but didn't like that it broke apart easily. The pineapple lemonade was really good! It was nice and clean on the inside. I'll definitely come back! I came here for the first time this past Friday night with some girlfriends for my birthday. My Hubby was out of town and as the ladies were texting earlier in the week on where I may want to go, I knew it should be where I normally don't go to (due to hubby's food allergies which includes shellfish, gluten, dairy, nuts, tomatoes, etc. . ) eat. And as my friends texted possibilities, I was checking out reviews and decided on this one. We were calling it "the hole in the wall" since I wouldn't have noticed when I driving down Butler Rd. Apparently it was packed per one friend's text at 6:30 pm but we had a table. It's one of those, order/pay at the counter (very nice young staff), get a number and find an available table, they bring the food out to you. They were really good about swinging by the table to ask if you wanted more refills, etc. I had the shrimp & grits. Very tasty!! (Sidenote: my daughter made me lunch with shrimp pad Thai and the shrimp was too tough). This one was great! One of my friends ordered some type of dinner plate that came with three sides that she had to select. She got fries and two small salads which she gave one to me (she's not a big fan of vegetables) and that was quite delicious, nice and fresh! Another had ordered crabcake & grits. Prices were decent, good food, casual atmosphere (there was at least one tv on the wall), excellent service. I'll be back and only wished this existed when our kids were younger! read more

I heard so many great things about this place, so I tried it for the first time. I unfortunately was not pleased with the fact that I only got 11 pieces of shrimp. Which should have been a 16 piece order. I probably would have let it go, had I not paid more than $15, and driven more than 20 minutes. The online price states 9.99, so that needs to be changed. Other than that the overall the flavor was decent. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

This is definitely one of those hidden gems that the locals take you to. I went here for lunch with coworkers and it was really great! It's filled with classic "low country" decoration and it's definitely a laid back place where you order at the counter, and when we went at noon on a Friday, it was absolutely packed out. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and fried okra. The crab cake was excellent, and the remoulade sauce was a perfect pairing to it. The okra is great and they had an excellent selection of sauces to dip it in. The menu was very extensive, with rotating fish specials and other specialties. If I had any qualms about this place, it would be that the food did not come out all at once. I was finished with my food by the time that my coworkers got theirs, after waiting a bit of time. Lots of folks are going to disagree with my rating but I must remain honest to myself and my tasty buds.. :D ... I didn't find the fish very flavorful. Didn't taste any salt or seasoning. I did taste the freshness though so big points for that. Maybe I'm only suppose to taste freshness and not seasoning and salt?? Not sure *shrugging shoulders* its just what I'm use to when I eat fish. If I was on an island and had to cook my caught fish over a fire I started then I guess I would only be tasting it in it's natural form and I can assure you I wouldn't turn it down just because I didn't have some salt to add. The baked beans and the hushpuppies were very VERY flavorful as well as the chicken tenders (sandwich). I know most don't order chicken from a seafood joint but I wanted to try the tenders as well. I'm in town for NCAA women's tournament and find this on Yelp. So glad I followed the reviews! Shrimp was great and so was crab cake. Took mine to go and the fries and beans were both still hot and good to go when I got back to my room. I loved the hush puppies too. They are on the sweet side, but that how I like them. Finally the staff is super friendly, they were obviously busy, took my order on the phone and I was in and out when I got there to pick it up. The food was very good. I order perch and fries and baked beans. Everything was very good. I was visiting from California and wanted to eat some good fish. This place was recommended to us. The fish had good flavor and the baked beans was served in a separate container which I like. The salad was also. They brought out my order wrong at first. They quickly fixed it. I thought I would have to wait to get the right order but it looks like the cook was just a little confused. It could happen. I came in at 530pm, so I beat the dinner rush. The menu isn't overly complicated which I can dig. You get three sides with every entree which is quite a lot. All I cared about was the okra ,but I also added corn for my daughter. Everything is fresh to order, so plan for a moderate 10 minute wait. The staff is super friendly...everyone. The same gent helping the lady to her car walked around the restaurant to ask how everyone enjoyed their meal. He was really friendly and always smiled.
