Has to be the worst brisket in the KC metro I've had so far. Zero flavor, terribly fatty, bad smell, bad texture. It was almost as if the meat was rotten meat or it was just terrible meat. I can't cook bbq but I do eat a ton of bbq, but this bbq was the worst I've had in KC. It was inedible and the last time I had brisket this bad the place went out of business pretty quick. read more

Cute dining area. Solid barbecue. My ribs tore off the bone and held a good smoke flavor. The sides - bbq beans and potato salad - were a little thick. I wish the menu was a little more steady. Some of the items weren't available during my visit, which was early in the afternoon, a few hours after opening. I know this happens from time to time in the business, but it can cause second thoughts if it happens too often. The staff was polite, helpful and happy to answer any questions. read more

Came up to get a meatball sub based on the online menu and pictures - unfortunately they didn't have it 'today'. There were quite a few items on the menu that they had 'blacked out' with blue tape. So, I had to resort to something else. Even so, the BBQ Sandwich and BBQ Baked Beans was delicious and definitely had me wanting more. Low and Slow is nice addition to the BBQ Leavenworth/Lansing scene, what little scene there is anyways. read more

For the price of the food the portions are very small. The brisket sandwich is $8 and it's as small as great value hamburger buns from Walmart. My fry basket is okay in taste, but I expected a larger portion size for what you pay for. Visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon at 4:30pm to beat the rush. Ordered a slab of ribs ($28), pulled pork sandwich, macaroni, beans, and slaw. They were out of ribs! We were told to if we wanted to wait until 6, they would have some for us. Wish the wait staff would have known about this ahead of time. Decided to go with their $8.75 brisket sandwich. Took our order to go. Should have checked our order before we left. But, luckily they aren't too far away to go back and get my order corrected. Brisket (what little there was) had a great smoke flavor, and very tender! Pulled pork was equally good! Beans were good. But, a little horseradishy. And, I like little bits of burnt end or ham in them. These did not. Coleslaw and Macaroni were good. All in all, I might go back and try their ribs (I'll call ahead). Brisket was flavorable. The wings had a great smoky taste. The sweet potato fries were a great combination of crispy with a soft middle. However, they could use the help of a decorator, couldn't tell what the feel (theme) of the place. Plus, the tables weren't very comfortable for a larger person. Hole in the wall BBQ place that is worth stopping for good BBQ. The sandwiches are hearty but they didn't have BBQ sauce anywhere I saw but I went with take out so I may have missed it. Have been here a few times now. Local business that has transitioned from more of a food truck setup to this new location. There are not many choices for BBQ in this area, so nice to have a new option. Small menu, but a few unique options. I have had the fry basket twice (bed of crinkle fries covered with pulled chicken or pork, melted cheese and bbq sauce). It is to mild for me, so I added sliced jalapeños (pickled). Rest of menu was mostly sandwiches. Will go back for convenience and to support local, but for the best KC BBQ will travel to other parts of metro area. read more

Stopped by Low N Slow for lunch, which seems like the perfect time to catch them. The food was nice and rich, and the sauce was perfect in the KC Style. We ordered half a slab of ribs and beans, and a brisket sandwich plus fries. The servings were ample and more than enough to fill you up. The cook on the ribs was excellent and you could smell more going as you walk in the door. There aren't a lot of places to sit, but that's OK, at lunchtime there were plenty of spaces and the place itself was clean and well kept. Will definitely visit again and would recommend it! I might call ahead if you are coming later in the day, I drive by at 6:30 AM on my way to look at land often, and they are out there cooking; I know that's what can get done by lunchtime. If you smoke meats on your own, you know the rules of cooking at low heat, and slow cook for the right tenderness. So, call ahead if you have questions but it's worth it to go! read more

We tried their new brick and mortar location on K7 in Lansing. We've enjoyed their food truck on a couple of occasions prior to them opening the dine in location. Nothing remarkable in comparison to other bbq joints in KC, but respectable. The meats could use a little more seasoning and the side dish cooked a bit more, but we will visit again. read more

The BBQ was amazing! Very tasty! I had the pulled pork sandwich, it was pulled high with meat. Had enough to make it into two sandwiches honestly. I'm not from Kansas, and I've passed this place a couple of times and said I need to try it. Now I'm very picky about my BBQ because I've been blessed to travel the country and try different BBQ. I was very skeptical because every time I've passed by it didn't look busy, and everyone knows that if a spot off the beaten path is busy then it's good. Today I decided to stop and try it and I can honestly say since I've been here for 2 years so far I've wasted time and missed out on not eating here. The food is really good the services vibe was friendly and helpful. They did allow me to leave and forget my fountain drink I paid for. My husband and I ordered Low N Slow for the first time tonight. We love supporting local businesses and trying KC BBQ so it seemed like the best of both worlds. Placing our pick-up order was easy and quick. Unfortunately, when my husband went to pick up the food neither worker was wearing a mask. All 5 patrons were wearing masks, but none of the 2 workers. I understand if you against wearing masks, but your business is serving food throughout the day and coming into contact with multiple people. Wearing a mask is the responsible thing to do right now, especially when serving food! The food was mediocre at best. The burnt ends were saucy but tough. The pulled pork was smoky but nothing spectacular. The brisket was fine. I could sum up all the meat with two words- it was ok/fine. The Mac n cheese was bland. It tasted like homemade Mac n cheese that was made 3 days ago and reheated. Oh, but the maker of the Mac n cheese forgot the cheese and salt and pepper. So basically a roux with mushy noodles? My husband enjoyed his probably canned beans because they were no better or no worse than Busch's baked beans. Overall, the lack of mask wearing highly affected how we felt about this less than mediocre food. We were really hoping for a gem in the Leavenworth/Lansing food scene. read more

It breaks my heart to slam a local Johnston County eatery. At almost 70 years old, I've eaten at a million places. At my age I know the difference between a great meal and a sub par meal. Just left Low n Slow with the wife as she wanted to give it a try. Lets just say, they'll never see me in their restaurant again. Why? First off, my waitress was a sweetheart. The compliments will end there. My overpriced brisket was very very tough, and I could barely chew it. I saw my wife's face as she grabbed a forkful of her barbecue. I knew what she was going to say, because it was so obvious that it was so dried out. Yup, she took a bite and quickly said, "we won't be back". She ate a few small bites and put the rest in a to go box. As I am typing this, our outside feral cats are eating my wife's overpriced barbecue. We both had mac and cheese. It was somewhat tasty but we both had much better at other bar b que facilities. I did eat the french fries, without complaint. I did not share any of this with the waitress, because she was so nice, and I did not want to ruin her day, or have her say, "no charge". I paid my $33.00 bill, and gladly left. Never again. Too many other great bar b que restaurants in this county. By the way, if you think I am just a competitor trying to ruin a local restaurant, nope.... I just bought this barbecue and it wasn't bad. They main problems are the coleslaw tasted rancid and the brisket was a little tough. Also the brisket was overly salty but the chicken was decent. The best thing was there was the beans they are great. There sauce is great if you like sweet sauce. If you do eat here I would recommend the beans and chicken. read more
