Stopped here for a beer on the way from Charleston to Kiawah Island. The place place was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I wanted to have a typical IPA but they were out if that one beer. So I tried their 4 flight sampler and I tried two other beers as well. Hate to say this but I didn't like any of the beers. Their brew master has gone overboard with unusual flavors that in my opinion just didn't work. read more

The beer was... unusual. The atmosphere was nice.... except There was a drunk person outside who had to have a police escort home. The food truck that was there for the day was not great, it was tacos that were trying really hard to be sooooo trendy the flavors mixed together for an unusual taste, that 6/6 people at our table agreed was sub par. It was family friendly besides the one incident which I thought was dealt with very gracefully. Of all of the breweries we frequent in Charleston this one doesn't stand out as amazing, but is a cool hang out, and is very spacious. I made three stops at Low Tide during my week in Charleston. Friendly staff, industrial brew house vibe with picnic tables inside and out, indoor baggo, and a fire pit. There were food trucks all three times that I was there though I didn't eat anything. The beer is the star attraction...about 12 on tap from kolsch to IPAs to brown ales. Fruited beers were the stars in my opinion - the watermelon mint witbier, the Welcome Wheat with pineapples and the blonde ale with yuzu were all outstanding. It's nice to see a brewery just making straightforward, good tasting beers without trying to do too much. Also, bonus points for the 10 minute growler parking spots. Some lowcountry beers made their way back to PA that way. Cheers. read more

Went to Low Tide's Food Truck Rodeo this weekend and absolutely loved my experience! The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and can serve a mean draft of beer. I tried the Low Tide Pale Ale and Down the Hatch Session IPA. Both were light and refreshing with citrus notes. I'd recommend this place to anyone coming to visit Johns Island! read more

This is definitely a top choice for local breweries in Charleston! Very relaxed and laid back with about 12 different beers on tap. And that doesn't include the seasonal or ever rotating selections. The Triangle Char & Bar Welcome Wheat is a delicious pineapple-y American Wheat that light and refreshing. Another favorite is the Reese'ding Tide Brown that's an American Brown ale and has chocolatey peanutty taste and aroma. It's definitely great for cooler days and nights as it's heavier. But if you're inside their air conditioned building, it's close enough. They also have local food trucks that rotate daily/weekly that somehow compliment all the beer on tap. read more

Very nice little brewery that seems to be paying attention to flavor profiles of their brews. Many IPA selections to choose from (not my thing, but I know that is the trend right now.) There were also plenty of others and each I tasted was well balanced and flavorful. There is no food but they did have a food truck on a Wednesday night. There is a great outside space as well as a nice inside area. Nothing huge, but done well, clean and enjoyable. A lot to like and nothing to hate. read more

This place! you can bring your whole family--yes, the dogs too--and enjoy a great atmosphere. They brew on site and have a clean rustic setting with great staff and, sometimes, a food truck parked outside. My hubby and I go here often just for the relaxed atmosphere and great selection of beer (I don't really drink beer but I enjoy their sours) and we will continue to do so. Say what!?!? Delicious beer right in my backyard?!? Say it is so! Yep, Low Tide, brewing what I have to say is my favorite beer in Charleston. No, they don't have food, but usually there's a food truck parked out front. This place is worth the drive from anywhere in the Chucktown area if you enjoy good brews. Atmosphere doesn't matter when your sipping on liquids this divine. If this sounds like a paid review, believe me it's not. I'm just an ipa addict and their elixir is good enough to satisfy even the pickiest hophead.... enjoy!!! read more

I absolutely love this place, besides the fact as soon as you find a beer you like they rotate the menu. However, that's an excuse to find a new favorite. I can appreciate everything hong about this place, there are always food trucks, beer selection is great, and the staff is super friendly. I would like to see more TV's, but it could potentially jeopardize the character of the brewery, and make it more of a sport bar. Either way I love y'all his place! read more

I am ecstatic to have this place so close to my home. I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff are awesome, kind, knowledgable, entertaining. The beers are delicious-and I've tried the palest of the alest to the darkest It has cozy outdoor space, shaded, with fans. The inside is open and inviting, clean, and modern. They always have community events going on. You can go if youre 20's and cool, or old and bring your baby like I do, often, or a pet! There's something for everyone here. Every Sunday the guys from Sushikon setup a sushi bar as well. Need I say more?! read more

I've fallen in love with this sweet John's island spot over the last year. They brew up amazing experimental beers in small batches, and they go fast, so if you want to try something new you have to keep coming back! The staff are all really cool, and make you want to hang out all day. Not only does this place have a great atmosphere, but these beers are some of the best craft beers in Charleston. It might seem like a trek to get to John's island, but I promise it's worth while! read more

I started coming here when it first opened. After living on Johns Island for several years, I was in search of a local bar that has that "home" feeling. I didn't expect a brewery to be that place, but it's turned into it. I stop by for a quick brew a couple times a week, always trying one of the new ones that are expertly crafted and named. I've gotten to know each of the employees and never have a bad experience. Beer is awesome, service is great, music and ambiance are the best Chs has to offer. Food trucks are usually available. You should seriously stop by and spend some time here and get to know this place. It'll be here for a long time and I think it'll become as much of a tradition to you as it has for me. read more

Very nice outdoor/ indoor areas to enjoy some brew and maybe a food truck. The honey pepper blonde, golden ale and pale ales are very good. My rating is for the beer & ambiance, because their prices are pretty much as high as you can charge someone without offending them. What happened to charging a lower price at the brewery than in the store or at another bar? (that's how its supposed to work). $6-$7 a pint will just make me want to leave after about 30 minutes. I can pay that much or less, for their beer at any other bar that carries it. read more

I went to Low Tide's Food Truck Rodeo last weekend and it was great (except for the heat outside)! They have a lot of parking room out back and a little outside bar. In the front, there are a few picnic tables and the inside is huge. It was a lot bigger than I expected. They have a large bar and a lot of tables. The staff was super friendly. We tried the Low Tide Pale Ale, CharleSun Peel Lager and Down the Hatch Session IPA. I liked them all, especially Down the Hatch. I will definitely be back - I want to try the Basil beer! read more

Small local brewery that's pet friendly. Would not say kid friendly because there's really no where for them to run around other than the front but then you basically risk running into traffic while parking. Sure they say they can have fun inside, but really it's not made for kids. The beers were just okay IMO. People mention other brewers in town not offering up as much as them but from my experience the quality of beer comes from experience of those making it, not quantity of beer on hand. The staff is friendly and interact well with people. The place is clean, has to be if you have the brewing equipment in the same area people sit. I heard now they are going to incorporating work outs there, however many days, with a local company and after you get a beer after sweating it out. Yeah, if you have to start doing this to attract business along with food and bev, not my bag. This is not my first choice on JoIsle for food or bev. but I'll cruise in again if someone wants to experience it. read more

Enjoyed trivia night with the family at this cool little brewery. Really high quality brews -- our favorites were the milkshake IPA and a sour that tasted almost exactly like a creamsicle -- in a low key setting with ample indoor and outdoor seating. A couple drafts on nitro. Trivia was laid back with a session from 7-8 and another from 8-9. Lots of puppies, too. Food available from a food truck. read more
