    Shrimp po boy
    Candace S.

My friend and I went to dinner on a Friday night and it was packed! We had to put our name on the wait list and come back about 25 minutes later. I ordered a makeshift margarita and half of a shrimp po boy. The margarita was WAY too strong and had to add lemon juice so I could drink it (slowly). The shrimp po boy was pretty good overall. My friend had the shrimp and really enjoyed it. The server was also attentive. The atmosphere was very cozy and be warned, the tables are VERY close together.

I hhaven't been heree in a while, and my coworker and I were excited to hang for the new year. We called first, told it wasn't busy and to come in. A fifteen minute drive changes things quickly, lol. There was a bit of a wait (20-30 min) and confusion, but they worked it out. The space is tiny so be prepared to sit wherever a seat is available. They were definitely slammed with orders (in-house & takeout) so the food took a bit over 45min to receive. So..... did it arrive hot & accurate? No. But, was it still tasty? Mostly. They have definitely changed the bread and spread for the PoBoys. The shrimp were still juicy and amazing. Crawfish etoufee is one of my favorite dishes ever, so I alway get its when I have the chance. Here, its tastes pretty good, its just sad ordering delivery from here yields a larger serving by far. The panda cotta at the end is always a delicious finish, but we left hungry (my friend took another full size etoufee to go). I'll still snag delivery, or pop in for lunch when it's less crowded for ambiance though.

Popped in on an early Saturday evening around 6 pm and was able to be seated immediately for two. Was coming off of a day at the park and had this spot bookmarked. Not sure if it's new but I am on this street often and had never noticed it before. Ordered the shrimp poboy, half gumbo, and fries. It was the perfect amount of food for two without it sitting too heavy in my stomach (and having room for dessert down the street). The food was healing given how tired we were. I'd come back again to try the oysters if I'm in the area. It's quick service as well!

This small and cozy restaurant serves some of the more authentic Cajun food found in NYC. I was left fairly impressed, but not necessarily wowed after my visit here. The menu is classically creole/cajun, with red beans and rice, etoufee, and po boys among the selection. Overall, I thought the food was solid, especially the Gumbo. The Po Boy featured great bread and could also be mistaken for one of the you'd find in the big easy. I thought the etoufee, while it clearly had a great roux, was missing something. Solid, but not quite up to standard like the rest. The vibes here are great and the drinks are stiff. I do recommend visiting this spot if you're like me and miss the quality food from New Orleans.

My friend and I were looking for a fresh place to try and Lowerline looked like the perfect little spot in the area. We were excited for the Cajun flavours and feel. When we entered on a winters night, it felt like a dry sauna in this tiny establishment that fit approximately 6 at the bar and had 4 two seat tables otherwise. The waitress was quick with water, but her demeanor gave off stress and annoyance, but she was courteous in interactions. I went with the Hurricane drink and my friend the Martini -- both very boozy, but good. I had a full gumbo, and she the Etouffe. I'm not sure if it's just every one I've had, but it is just an underwhelming salty water mess with bits of meat scattered throughout - a few shrimp, half a crab, and some slices of Andouille sausage in a pool of brackish brown soup. The Etouffe was a bit better, but the portion was small. Overall, the fare was fine, but the discomfort of the heat and the vibe given off by the stressed staff doesn't warrant another visit from us.

Was craving something comforting to eat on a rainy, chilly night and thought of Lowerline. The space is pretty small/intimate, but they're efficient with seating and prompt. Was able to snag a bar seat and had a full view of the kitchen staff cooking and the owner himself shucking oysters and bartending. Very friendly staff and patrons, great food and hit the spot! Would've loved to order a po boy as well, but didn't want to over do it. Next time!

The Coffee panna cotta was the star of this meal, it was excellent with the right sweetness ratio. I wanted to love this place as my roots are in Louisiana but unfortunately both the PoBoy and Red Beans and rice was lacking in flavor. Crystal hot sauce cannot add flavor, only heat. +1 for having crystal hot sauce, +2 for the panna cotta.

A small, charming restaurant with attractive food options. Kind and attentive service the entire time. Food tastes very clean and simple. However, when I want southern cuisine, I'm looking for the bold, loud flavors that make it special, and this menu doesn't hit those notes. I asked for tartar sauce, which they didn't have, so my waitress sent out a tasty alternative. I forget its name--but I'd suggest that for anyone also looking for a flavor upgrade.

    The gumbo and fried shrimp

It was fine. It's a small menu, So it's easy to pick something. A guy who seemed like the owner or in charge didn't greeet me and I was the only person in the whole restaurant, that felt weird. But anyway, the gumbo was fine and the shrimp were fine too. The space is small, so it wouldn't be ideal for a large group. If you are looking for a lil NOLA it may do the trick.

Ok, so here's the thing...I've been to New Orleans three times and I cook gumbo rather superbly...so keep this is mind. I want to give the overall experience a 3.5 BECAUSE of my heavy experience in the creole culinary arts. Husband had the gumbo, which was aiight because I prefer my roux THICK. flavor was finnnnnnneee, but again...you're hearing from a New Orleans visitor and gumbo maker. NOW - the highlight of the dinner was the assortment of fried goodness - shrimp, oysters and catfish. THEY KNOW HOW TO FRY SOME FOOD! ok?!!! and the complimentary panacotta was a sweet touch. Lastly, my shrimp po' boy was pretty good, too. But they played us with the size of it cus a "small" in American should never literally be small. a small in American is a medium and half...get it together. Would I return? yeah, probably. OH! and the service was fantastic! The place is super tiny, but they were sweet enough to call us when a table was ready. loved that.

Came here on Saturday. Seen them for years and finally decided to give them a try. The restaurant is narrow with about 6 seats at the bar and 3 or 4 2-top tables. When I got there I had the spot to myself and then it got a bit busy. If you love oysters then try theirs. They seem to be popular. I didn't have them but plenty ordered them. They have east coast and west coast oysters. For my order I got a cup of the ham bone red beans and rice with andouille sausage ($8) and then a half portion of the surf & turf po boy which consisted of roast beef with shrimp ($11). I was pleasantly pleased with the flavors and the portion. It was filling and had a nice flavor. I also love that they had crystals hot sauce. Lastly, I had a glass of their cava and it was delish! Need to purchase that. The staff was nice. Would totally visit again. Check them out. Visit @iFancyNY on Instagram for more foodie content.

This restaurant keeps winning in my book. Came here to finally try something else. The gumbo is delicious!!! Wow! So authentic!!! I'll keep coming back!

Reply to Business Owner:…read more Hello Jaffa, Thank you for the response. I understand seasoning and heat can affect appearance; however, my concern was not solely discoloration, but the overall quality and texture of the food upon arrival. The crab meat was stuck to the shell (rubbery), the mussels lacked freshness and texture, and the sausage was unusually rubbery--issues that go beyond presentation or residual heat. I shared my experience honestly based on the meal I received. While I appreciate the offer to resolve it had I called, posting a review reflects my experience as a customer ordering delivery, which is a service you offer. Unfortunately, this order did not meet the standard I expected based on my experience. I'm glad to hear you're open to addressing concerns directly, and I hope future delivery orders are more consistent. -------------------- My Initial Review: I "really" wanted to enjoy this meal, especially since I've ordered from here before via Uber Eats and decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The snow crab legs had gray shells, and the meat was stuck to the shell, rubbery, and lacked freshness. The mussels were deep orange in color, had no real texture, and some were actually dry, which made them unpleasant to eat. The sausage was also very rubbery--I had to bite hard just to get through it. Flavor alone couldn't make up for the overall texture and freshness issues. This may be a place that's better enjoyed in person, but based on my experiences, the seafood does not seem to travel well for delivery. I truly wanted this to be a satisfying meal, but unfortunately it missed the mark.
