What a beautiful resort. I was here for a work trip. Check in was easy and quick. The front desk staff friendly and helpful. The food is delicious there's something for everyone. This resort has all the amenities you need from the pools to pickle ball courts. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with great views. The beach is within walking distance. Definitely a great location for a work trip.

My husband and I stayed at the Loews in July during peak season. We had just driven 10 hours from Reno on military orders with our cat, our dog, and a U-Haul in tow. Exhausted and stressed after our original hotel fell through, we arrived around 10 p.m. hoping for the best. From the moment we called, the front desk was unbelievable. Truly some of the best customer service we've ever received. The hotel itself is beautiful and feels genuinely luxurious, but what stood out most was the staff, always friendly, welcoming, and smiling. They even had a doggie bag ready for our pup and brought a microwave up to our room without hesitation. The military discount was an unexpected and very appreciated bonus. We were beyond pleased with our stay and so grateful for the kindness we received during such a stressful trip. Highly recommend

Three cheers for Sandra and for the Del!…read more Service has gone downhill since Hilton acquired it. But we love this location so much we suck it up now and then to have a little staycation in this magical place. At check in time there was a huge line: the computers had broken! We left our luggage and got a snack at ENO Market. And luckily by the time we finished, the line had cleared and they had brought over extra folks to work reception. We were lucky to get Sandra who normally works at the more upscale Shore House on property. She was very apologetic about the line and also saw that we have stayed here at several times. My sweetie is Hilton Gold and they were initially going to upgrade us from our basic The Views room to a "Victorian room with a view". No thank you! Del veterans know that the historic hotel rooms are small and with no privacy, because of the courtyard. So Sandra looked again and managed to get us a beautiful upgrade to the ocean view room in The Views, which was amazing. And when we woke up, we had a note under the door saying we also had complimentary buffet breakfast at the veranda because we have an American Express Hilton card... and we also got $100 off our meal the night before at Serea! So in short an amazing stay that was an incredible value for the Del. Sometimes we stay somewhere else "cheaper" in Coronado and then come out and hang here. But this was a super deal. The credit card is absolutely worth getting if you like the Del! (last pro tip: service at the hotel can be spotty and the food very expensive if you don't have a credit. ENO market and pizzeria is the best value on property. But if you get Brett as your server at Serea, and sit outside, you are still sure to have a magical time!)

First, the good: The property has been nicely upgraded since I last stayed here in 1978…read more Now the rest. We checked in at 5pm. Thankfully the line was not long but the process takes a while so you can still wait 10 minutes even if you are first in line. The clerk was very nice but I could sense she was going to shaft us and sure enough we ended up in a tiny room that was down a long corridor with a view of nothing but rooftops. Probably one of the worst rooms in the hotel and maybe used to house the maids but now sold as a regular room to maximize revenue. So naturally we marched back to the front desk and thankfully found another clerk who could not have been more wonderful. Shocker, she was unable to find anything else that night (800 rooms, 5pm checkin, nada) but was able to convince the manager to let us upgrade the following day to a higher category room for $75/night (regularly $225). Of course this means packing up after one night and checking into a new room but we decided to do it because the first room was so mediocre. The next morning we stopped at the front desk at noon and were surprised and delighted to find the new room ready. It was like night and day - about 2x-3x larger with an elevated sitting area, a couch, and a sea view even though it was not ocean front. Well worth the upgrade fee though kind of sad that you have to pay extra just to get yourself removed from the worst ROH. Not that everything was perfect - the following morning we were awakened to children running wild in the room above ours (apparently a special turret room or something) - it was so bad that I had to knock on the door and was greeted by a displeased parent who apologized and said they were checking out. Bueno. Don't come to this hotel enjoy the water. The ocean is polluted by sewage from TJ and not recommended for bathing. The next day we arrived at the pool only to find it was closed for the day after a child had exploding diarrhea. So much for that. Someone asked management if they could use the special spa pool reserved for mucky mucks but was told that was off limits. On the plus side beach drink service was excellent, but $8 for a diet coke plus a mandatory service charge seems excessive. Similarly I think it was $25 for a cookie and a couple of soft drinks at the lobby snack shop. I was tempted to buy a yogurt parfait but I could not justify it as the cups were only half filled. It is one thing to gouge customers, quite another to cheapen the product. For those who want to save $$ there is a chipotle across the street from the property where you can get large soft drinks (and return for free refills, as the cashier explained) for $3. If you plan to spend all your time at the resort, save yourself the parking gouge by taking a $31 rideshare to/ from the airport. Overall I can say that the staff was very nice, the bar area is fun and the food served at the hotel restaurants is excellent. However I do not plan to return as there are so many properties in San Diego that have nicer rooms, nicer pools and nicer beaches for a fraction of the price.

This Marriott offers many amenities, and informative customer service!…read more To my knowledge most if not all rooms have a good sized balcony. Our room had a roomy bathroom that included a shower and a bathtub, comfy beds with ok pillows (like any other hotel), a large TV, etc... We had a great view of the harbor as well! There is a pool, a restaurant with outdoor seating in front of the harbor, and a lawn for activities. It's really not necessary to valet here because they have their own dedicated parking garage for self-parking. The front desk is friendly and informative. It's a little challenging to figure out where to go to find your room, so listen when they explain the details!

Argument with staff about providing identification again to get our luggage and our room. We were patient until my wife started having a difficult time finding her ID and I finally said she just checked us in 30 minutes ago "you don't remember us"? Staff says I check in a lot of people I don't remember you. After a little bit more discussion, she says your luggage is right over there confirming she did remember us. A little bit more petty bickering from Marriott employees than I'm used to and reluctance and resistance to take accountability for not providing up to Marriott standard service she gives us our room. It's not the room that we paid for which was a Bay Harbor view not a pool view. We are too tired and in a little bit in a hurry now to get to our restaurant reservation for the night My wife turns on the bathwater and it's coming out brown I go to see staff again. They say that an engineer will come up. I'm thinking to myself how an engineer will fix this brown water coming out of the tap. I go back down and speak with management. They change our room. I will never come back here. On a sidenote, the engineer told my wife the brown color was disinfectant. Apparently our new room didn't have any disinfectant in the bathwater.

You pay for the location and that is about it. The main lobby was super cute. We were very excited to stay here. But it took a turn when we were shown our room. The smell was so bad you could smell it a few feet outside of our door. We would wake up in the middle of the night because the smell woke us up. It smelled like mildew & mold so bad, on top of cigarettes and hospice. I went to call to ask for a new room and our phone didn't work. I moved the side bedroom table to see if it was plugged in and it was so dirty with bugs and lint balls. I didn't touch the phone again. I called from my cell phone to see about changing our room. She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. We were going to cancel our stay and book somewhere else, but we booked through Expedia and it's a nightmare trying to get a refund through them. Otherwise, we would've left after the first day. When leaving a manager pulled me aside and said he was going to comp one day resort fee for us because of the smell. He didn't have to do that, but it was nice of him. We will never be back unless they do a serious update. So sad because the location is killer!

They asked us to drive and stay here with them here at the Best Western Plus. I tried to convince them to go to a more upscale hotel, but they were determined to stay here, as they have been doing for years. My dad is a retired officer in the military, and he loves to be close to the base. However, while the pictures on this Best Western site look decent, they don't reflect what the rooms are actually like. Our room was cramped, gloomy and dated and gave me claustrophobia. The sheets and towels were like sandpaper, and the room is shabby and dirty-looking. The only small window looked out into a dirty alley. This was the most depressing room ever! In order to open the bathroom (which was disgusting) you had to make sure the closet door was closed. Carpet was dingy and the bedding was cheap and scratchy. The blanket was 100 years old and the bedspread was like an old shower curtain. There was ZERO natural light and the room stunk of musty, damp air from a loud swamp cooler. The ice machine close to our room was loud and people used it all night. The amenities were non-existent (not even bottles of water, so bring your own). The faucet handles barely worked in the bathroom sink, and there was no hot water. The WiFi is terrible and there are no modern charging ports to use. Housekeeping doesn't replace the linens or even come in to make the bed like a normal resort, unless you request it. What's the point of going away to relax if you have to clean your own room??
