Another couple walked up without a reservation, and I overheard the hostess tell them, "Give me five minutes and we can squeeze you in." That was frustrating because we had already been waiting for a long time without being offered the same accommodation. Once we were finally seated, another couple who had a reservation at the same time as us was also seated. However, the couple who had arrived without a reservation received their food and service before we did. Even our waiter Amanda seemed to realize something wasn't right. After overhearing my boyfriend and me discussing the situation, she came over and apologized. While I appreciated the apology, the experience had already left us feeling overlooked. Another waitress also passed over our table before we were helped. To make matters worse, one of the main reasons we came was to enjoy the sunset over the water. Unfortunately, we couldn't even see it because large plastic coverings around the patio blocked the view. That was incredibly disappointing, especially after waiting so long to be seated. From my perspective, the way we were treated felt unfair, and it left me questioning whether we were treated differently because of the color of our skin. I thanked her but was extremely happy they were all so willing to teach me how to have a better experience in using their App. In my opinion, service does not get better than that. Having standard discounts, paper coupons, and electronic coupons can sometimes make it unnecessarily complicated for customers to determine which discounts apply and how to get the best price. A simpler, more consistent discount system would be much easier and less frustrating for shoppers. My main concern today, however, was the customer service I experienced. At the deli counter, the gentleman assisting me appeared very unhappy and was not particularly friendly. After my order was completed, I thanked him and wished him a wonderful day. In return, I received only a displeased look. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but interactions like this can make a customer feel unwelcome. If someone is unhappy in a customer-facing position, perhaps management should take the opportunity to check in with them and see if there is anything that can be done. I also experienced an unpleasant interaction at checkout. I began bagging my groceries because I was simply trying to help keep things moving. I was told not to do so in a rather unpleasant tone.
