I've been shopping here for the last few years. Customer service is great and they always have what I'm looking for. The return policy is great. If something doesn't work out, it's easy to return with my receipt. The only thing I haven't had much success with are plants that I've purchased. They don't seem to survive. read more

Abysmal. Awful. Unsatisfactory. I purchased a special order refrigerator online (since it wasn't a standard size) which was backordered for over a month and a half. My freezer at home had given out. There was a pending charge on my credit card and I waited patiently. The day before the scheduled delivery, I received a text message saying that my credit card billing address was incorrect and to call the online service center. Next day I called Lowes 800 number and they said they couldn't help me and I needed to go into the local Carlsbad store to fix the issue. The local store manager said since I ordered as a "guest" online, she was unable to process the order and since the refrigerator was at the delivery warehouse I should call them and see if there was something they could do. This took probably over 1.5 hours of me being on hold with the online store, local store, and delivery warehouse with no one having any answers that made any sense. Anyway, I was told to cancel the order and re-order the refrigerator which I did and item was no longer available (even though it was waiting in the warehouse). So basically I waited for a month and a half for a refrigerator, told the day before that there was a problem with my payment address, that they couldn't fix, and the item was unavailable even though it was at the warehouse in limbo. The refrigerator was over $10k. I will never, I repeat never do business with Lowes again. read more

I went to buy a full set of lawn furniture here. The lady in customer service was friendly. However, I waited an hour for someone to get the furniture down on a lift. No one answered the customer service reps calls, and she was visibly frustrated. So, really, no one can manage to get a box of lawn furniture down for over an hour? Today is mid week, and the store was fairly empty. Lowes has no good way to contact management with a concern on their website. I called and was told I'd be all hold at least 30 minutes.. Great job, Lowe's. I gave up on the purchase and spent $1500 at a store that wanted to help customers and make money. I feel bad for the customer rep who was trying to do a good job. This is my third issue with Lowe's, so I figured it was time to put the word put. read more

This is a true story. My grandparents were one of the first members at La Costa down the the street from Lowe's in the early 70s when nothing existed in Carlsbad. There was open land everywhere and especially no Lowe's. With that, there weren't any Teslas and an influx of foreigners. I have home videos of Carlsbad and La Costa from the 70s and 80s. Fast forward to 1994-1996. Lowe's is still not there. The Olympic Golf Driving Range was there and that's where Callaway Golf did their testing. I was one of the golf club testers for Callaway Golf and set the record by hitting 1700 golf balls in one work shift. I was hitting the Big Bertha, Great Big Bertha and Biggest Big Bertha before they ever came out. Lowe's now sits in the spot where I set the record for Callaway Golf as a golf club tester. I've never been to Lowe's but drove by a million times and always wanted to go back to the spot and spray paint and X where I set the record. Never have. Last night I needed something from Lowe's and went inside for help. One guy was so rude and not helpful whatsoever. I'm 50 years old and worked very hard in my life. This guy sucked as an employee. He got is coworker to help me and the guy was seriously not bright. I quickly told the second guy that I'll do the thinking. After having enough of this, I asked for the manager. Rene, the manager, personally came over and helped me for my entire visit. Rene was great. I can see why he is the manager. Thank you Rene. * LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ASPIRING EMPLOYEES. I ordered a refrigerator from Lowe's online Tuesday last week. They delivered a damaged appliance on Thursday. I never asked for a refund. I expected a replacement. Multiple calls to customer service. Was told, you will get a call back within 24 hours, twice. No follow up call ever occurred. Had an online order that was routed through Lowe's Carlsbad, with their number being given as who to reach if there were any questions about the delivery. I tried calling the store to have it ring for (not kidding) 19 minutes before someone picked up. The person that answered seemed extremely inept, finally saying "Hold on, please" and hanging up on me. When the product was finally delivered, Lowe's apparently uses this horrible company called Last Mile for service. We paid for installation and haul away service, which they didn't do. They left the box on the sidewalk in front of our home, didn't call or ring the doorbell to let us know it was there and when I called them they said "ringing the doorbell or calling is a courtesy service". How about the installation and hauling away of the old compactor? Is getting what I paid for also a courtesy service. Their answering messages says "please hold after the call to take a customer survey." There's no survey after the call, they just hang up on you. I don't think anyone looks them up before using them because they are contracted with Lowe's, so we have no choice as to whether to use them or not. I can see why. Awful, awful company. I can't believe Home Depot and Lowes are the only two options for large chain hardware stores. There has to be something better, why is this industry such a mess. read more

I waited for half hour for curbside pickup then went in to talk to a manager who said it would be out in 5 mins. After 15 more minutes I only get 1 item out of 2. We purchased a combo wall oven/microwave from Lowe's in early December (4 months ago), and shortly thereafter they arranged for someone to come out to our home and assess what would be required for the installation (including the need to cut our cabinet a bit to accommodate the size). And, they charged us $440 at that time for the upcoming installation. After four months, we were notified by Lowe's that the oven had finally arrived and so we scheduled the installation. On the day of the installation, the tech Jorge Laborin was assigned to our project. The first issue occurred when I went to use our existing microwave, but the power was off. I went out to the front of the house to check the electrical box, and discovered that the tech had turned the power off prior to even knocking on our door and announcing his arrival. Who does that?? When he came into the house to remove the existing unit, he didn't seem to like the fact that I began moving runner rugs into his path since he didn't do anything to remove or cover his shoes, even after I indicated that our carpet was new and that the kitchen wood floors had recently been refinished. Finally, as he began to remove our existing wall unit, he announced that it had water attached (due to an existing steam heating feature) and that they "don't do plumbing" and that I would have to call a plumber. I asked him why they had come to our home four months prior to assess what it would take to install the unit but didn't notify me that they wouldn't be able to disconnect the old unit...especially since I could have easily gotten the water disconnected during that four month period. He said that all he could do was turn off the water completely, which would mean no water to my refrigerator either. I asked him whether he understood why I was frustrated by this situation and got no understanding or acknowledgement of my frustration, which only got me more frustrated. All I got was excuses: - The person who came over in December was a different contractor - They're only subcontractors of Lowe's (which was news to me) - They don't represent Lowe's - And on, and on, and on... I told him that I was going to call his manager, and he said he would call too. He got through on an employee line first (I waited on hold for a while--no surprise there) and he told his manager that he didn't want to do the installation since he "didn't feel comfortable." Total BS from my standpoint...especially after I saw the water connection and said I could do the disconnect myself in about ten minutes. At that point, however, he stopped talking to me or my wife and just put the old wall unit back in. When I spoke to his manager, all I got were the same old excuses and no acknowledgement that my frustration was either valid or understandable. I was told my the manager that all I could do was reschedule the installation. And, she had the gall to ask if I wanted the oven left at our home...what?? They're supposed to install it, not drop it off. At this point, I still haven't hear back from the Lowe's sales person in response to the email message I sent them. But this much I know: - I won't be purchasing any appliance from Lowe's in the future, and - Wherever I buy appliances, I will inquire whether Pacific Express is the installer and, if so, I'll run for the hills!! It wouldn't have taken much for the tech and manager to deescalate the situation. For example... - "I'm so sorry, Mr. Meyers, I can imagine how frustrating this can be..." - "I understand why this doesn't seem to make sense, but water isn't usually connected to an oven so it was missed during the assessment..." - "Let's talk about what options we have to make this work..." Good old fashion customer service...but, definitely not synonymous with Pacific Express Installation. First time to Lowe's because Home Depot didn't have what we wanted. The greeter sent us to the wrong aisle...like missed by 3 aisles. Anyways, no price tags to show how much per bag...no associates around to help. After loading 9, 2 cu ft bags, I went to plumbing only to find that the part I needed had a box labeled for it but the box was filled with other parts. Tried to dig around to maybe find 1 part but to no avail. Good news was the Garden line was fast and exitting was convenient. read more

I purchased a washing machine at Lowe's and I wrote a great review for that. The issue was that I left a brand new baby carrier the basket. I called them a day and a half later and they told me they found it, but they put it in the trash. I thought that was a very poor way to treat customer's lost property. I had just purchased it so it was in great condition. It also had a zipper pouch with a few things in it. I was glad I had not left my wallet in there! Most businesses would have the courtesy to keep their valued customers items in a lost and found for at least a couple of weeks! The savings I got on the washer completely went down the drain with the expensive baby carrier they trashed. I think I will go to Home Depot next time! read more

I've been going to this Lowe's since it opened and have always had great service...but over the past few months things have definitely slipped. I always used to see familiar faces who were gladly willing to help out, but lately there has been none of that. Also, I have been trying to call in to discuss a late order but I can't get anyone on the phone. I have literally been calling for over an hour (I am working from home and can't leave). You would think that customer service would be the number one priority, but I guess not. Really frustrating. I have started going over to Home Depot in Encinitas and what a difference they have made. Always helpful, lots of associates around the aisles, etc. I have always leaned toward Lowe's over the years, but I am really considering switching over to Home Depot. read more

Stay away from install projects . I had a no show no call . After nine days of waiting no recourse . They sub you to another company called handy.com which proceeds to auction you yo unknown installers with no responsibility!! I paid 240 for install on 11/5 . Finally on 11/14 the install day the sub from DA plumbing and install no shows and no calls !! I tried to call back to handy no call . Btw handy.com has less than 2 star reviews on consumer reports . I moved down here a month ago, and need everything from shelf liner to garbage bags to pottery for plants to bags of soil to window curtain rods. Everything is here. People have been helpful when I ask for directions or questions. I don't know what everyone's problem is. Easy parking. Easy location. Great hours. Easy returns when necessary (save your receipt). I purchased a 2 camping generators, now discontinued apparently, Craftsman 2500i. It is stated they come with a 3-year limited warranty, and after about 25-50 hours of use, one of them completely doesn't start at all. Now, generators are reputably supposed to be the most reliable of all energy sources, to be used in emergencies, etc. Craftsman's customer service referred me to Generac, Generac never answers or takes customer info, so my second route was an attempt to open a warranty claim. Same issues. After about 6-8 hours of phone attempts, I gave up and called Lowes directly since they sold me the products. Again, no help. Strike 1 against Lowes and Strike 2 against Craftsman. Total scam of sales/cust service/warranty teams. Don't give them your money. read more

I had to go to Lowe's to just do a touch up paint job and get a damaged wall (hole) fixed. Right when I walked in to the paint section I was approached by John and another employee who simultaneously asked me if I needed assistance. John was assertive and extremely helpful with answering all of my naive questions. He also helped me get the lowest budget items in the store since I was only doing minor fixes. I can go all day about how great he was. After he helped me find the paint I was about to go checkout and he said if I need anything else to let him know. When I remembered about the hole in my wall I approached him a second time got his assistance and he was understanding and patient. He even threw in a joke on how COVID has effected the prices and wanted to make sure I wasn't spending more than I should. Great and perfect experience! Give John a raise or promotion! read more

Let me start by saying we've spent over $35,000 at Lowe's alone for our floors, carpets, stairs and tools and tiles to improve our house. Lowe's outsource their work so we had different third party companies doing our tiles, different for our hardwood floors, different for our carpets and different for our stairs. The stairs people had the wrong color floors and nosings so they begged us to just accept it as is. We said no, this was after they had already ripped out the carpet on our stairs. Our stairs were bare with nails and pulled out wood for almost 2 months before the new nosing and risers arrived. Lowe's told us that it would take 1-2 days to do the stairs and the upstairs hallway. It ended up being more like 3-4 days and the curved baseboards still haven't arrived. We lived in our house in complete disarray for months. Our stairs bare with no flooring and nails everywhere (the people who ripped the carpet off didn't clean up after themselves). There's stacks of boxes of flooring and baseboards in our hallways, in our family room and blocked off the area for us to even put up a Christmas tree. We decided NOT to outsource through Lowe's for another project in our house. They arrived at 7:30 am, done by 3:30 pm and the project took two days like promised. After that experience, I learned that the big name companies only outsource smaller companies to do it anyway so I might as well just hire smaller companies to do the work from now on. Months ago, we spent hours figuring out the logistics with Tom, the flooring guy at Lowe's. Honestly, I think he's the only one who knows what he's doing. Everyone else at Lowe's seem incompetent. When we went back in days later to pay for the materials and Tom wasn't there, it was a mess. Everyone was confused and had to retype things over again. Manager only granted us 10% off because we had a coupon, not because we just spent $35k on flooring. Then they had guys come back to pick up the "extra" baseboards and wood to refund us. The guys were shocked that we had so much extra wood and baseboards. We explained that they charged us twice and gave us so much extra wood, but most of it was the wrong wood. The absolute worst place to buy appliances. We bought a dishwasher from them, and they were very good about confirming the order and charging our credit card quickly and efficiently. The problems started when the promised delivery date got pushed back a week. OK, no problem we got a good deal on a dishwasher we can wait. Then we discover that installation isn't included or even offered in checkout, and when we call to confirm installation they asked us if we wanted it installed. Really? No, we were planning on just using the dishwasher as an end table. Delivery day comes and goes, and still no dishwasher. But wait, what's that big box hiding on the side of the house? Oh wait, that's the dishwasher that got dropped off ninja style with no notice. The delivery person can't even be bothered to let you know your dishwasher is here. The install guys finally show up the next day, and they don't have the parts. Great. We can the install company, and get attitude. Then we call Lowes and get the runaround, and then they want to charge an extra $300 on top of the $250 we already paid for install and hauling. No thanks, we had our local plumber do the install for a fraction of the price. Overall very disappointed in Lowes and will never shop there again. read more

A special shout out to Isaac in the lumber department for helping me with the first few cuts of my DIY wood project. Isaac was really helpful and I appreciated his patience with me as I provided all my measurements. We set out to make a Lemonade / Everything Stand to give to our daughter for Christmas. Starting out, I had basic tools. Nothing too serious other than a Ryobi battery operated drill and a circular saw that came with the Ryobi set. It turns out, I needed more for what I was wanting to build. Rather than having to rely on Lowe's for all my big cuts, I ended up going nuts and practically bought a whole new set of tools--and more. I bought most of the items here but was in between a Milwaukee or a Dewalt drill set but the sales associate (can't remember his name) couldn't convince me that the Dewalt was better so I went down the street to Home Depot for that. I'm loving my Kreg Jig and Dewalt sander and look forward to more toys as I now have the buildling bug. read more

We shopped around after our poor experience with Lowes Poway but found that Lowes had the best deal for the refrigerator we were looking for. Decided to give Lowes another shot so we called Lowes Carlsbad. We called Lowes Carlsbad on 11/29. Spent all day calling them but constantly battled the phones getting hung up on, disconnected, mistransferred, etc. It was really frustrating so we decided to call again at night. We called at 8:20pm and spoke with a man. He said he would call us back so we waited. We did not hear back so we called again at 8:30pm. When we called, the line said "the store is now closed" (store closes at 9:00pm btw) and we could not get connected with anyone. At 8:59pm, the man called us but we missed the call since we were packing our car. He left a message saying "I will be here for another 5 minutes if you would like to call me back". We called back at 9:00pm (1 minute later) but could not get to him because the line was sent to "The store is now closed". Not sure why their phones were transferred at 8:30pm when the store should have still been open. Since we could not get anyone on the phone to order the fridge, we decided to try and order the fridge online. We wanted to get the 40% appliances deal before it ended. We found it on the webpage listing the sale price of 40% off BUT when we added it to our cart, the price went up one grand! It was like the website was in the middle of changing it prices but it was not even close to midnight yet! Again, another frustrating experience with Lowes! read more

If I could give this location a zero I would. We have never had a positive interaction when we've come here (and the only reason we stop in here from time to time is the convenience of location but that doesn't seem to offset the negative experiences and waste of time). We have only had issues when we've come to this location (we will stick with the Oceanside one from now on). We've placed online orders, received confirmations and when we've gone to pick them up they've been cancelled and reshelved without letting us know. We've come in to set up in-home estimates for custom shower stalls only to have to wait for the "manager" for upwards of 20 minutes who still never arrived (Luke) and then have two employees who weren't skilled in the department just guess as to what needs to be done. We've had untrained staff make recommendations on products that led to multiple returns. I know, I know, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, but we've continued to give them chance after chance to redeem themselves and they've only continued to let us down. We will steer clear of this location. read more

Pretty disappointed in my local hardware store. We bought a new grill and outdoor chairs to be assembled and delivered. They arrived 30 minutes past the 4 hour delivery window and left the heavy bbq at the bottom of the stairs to our deck. Nobody knocked or called. They just dropped it and left. We definitely can't lift it up the stairs by ourselves. To add on to this they completely forgot to deliver our chairs and they won't show up until Tuesday now. Customer service tried to help but I was placed on many long holds and eventually was hung up on. I don't know if anyone will actually show up to help us lift the bbq and it is in a position where it can be stolen very easily. I really like this Lowe's location, the staff are very helpful and accommodating. Everyone is always very nice and they have great customer service. My only issue are the dogs that are allowed to be in the store, today a woman had 6 dogs of all sizes, most of them large. When did all the home improvement stores allow so many dogs? There are more dogs in this store then in a Petsmart. There needs to be a limit, customers need to feel safe to shop. read more

Although we live somewhere closer to the Home Depot in vista, we occasionally go to the Carlsbad Lowes for comparison shopping. Today was a clear winner for Lowes! We went shopping for a replacement Christmas tree and the lady in that department, Yo-Yo, helped us find the best possible deal for the tree that fits our needs perfectly. The customer service at this store has gone way down. It's all self serve checkout and nobody knows what they're doing. Employee Bruce was so kind helping me use a gift card at the self check out. There were three men that obviously had never used self check out. They asked for help as another male older tall kinda slim employee walked by. This was at 7:30PM on Friday Jan 26, 2024. This employee was so incredibly rude to them!!! I couldn't believe it! He said I'm not a cashier. They asked so we do this all ourselves. He said with a total attitude, "Yah it's self checkout". And walked away. Totally rude and uncalled for. Then these guys were looking for a bag for their items that they paid for, so I actually helped them find the paper bag. RIDICULOUS, no customer service except for Bruce. There was a Hispanic kinda heavier set girl shouting to Bruce as he was helping me. She was absolutely rude as well. Who is the manager here?
