Stumbled onto Lsi while trying to find a shop to do my pre-purchase inspection on the car I was buying. I was looking for a shop in the area that would do a compression test on an '02 Subaru WRX wagon, which apparently is a real pain in the-- to do. I called four shops in the area and was turned away from three of them... yeah. But, hey, this is not about those other shops, it's about these guys and they did it. It came out to $90 ($30 for the inspection, $60 for the compression test) which is more than a fair price. John helped me out. He's really knowledgeable and he gave me peace of mind when buying this car. It had a lot of miles on it so it definitely helped to hear that everything was in good condition. He broke down everything in the P.P.I. and explained whatever issues there were and how much the fix would be. They're on a first come-first serve basis so make sure you get there around or before lunch, depending on the job you have for them. That way you can make sure it gets done that day. Definitely go check Lsi out. If I lived in the area, I would go to these guys all the time. read more

AS GOOD AS IT GETS. I am 64 years old and have been going to many auto repair shops in San Diego County. These guys are great! Not only are they very professional but they are very very honest. They never try to up charge and are always ready on time. It is a very clean shop. Dwight, the owner of the shop really cares and does a great job. The service manager John, is always friendly, professional and very honest. They are very reasonable from a pricing standpoint. Although, I live 30 minutes away, I would never go any where else. Hey, We my wife and I have taken our cars there almost 20years. And four different cars. Happy Every time. I use to live couple blocks away love it dropped off our car and walk home. John would call let us know what was and how much to fix it. And 99% time fixed same day. One time it was a holiday and they were closed. I didn't want to wait. So took it to another shop. Within 6 months I had to take to LSI to have them do it right. So we paid double. Never again. John and Dwight honest people. More than once it was more money than we had. John worked it out so we could afford it. You know do what was needed right then. Then bring back later when we had more money. They always got us back on the road right away. They understand we need our cars to make money. And money to keep our cars up. We had a black Nissan 1996 kept it going 221,000 miles. Traded in for 2012 Nissan. And we have 2000 tundra 167,000 miles. We have to take it in tomorrow. For some work. Plus valve cover gaskets soon to. I am sad to say we left south O but we still live in Oceanside just a lot farther away. We can't drop off the car or truck and walk home. John was kind enough to waive the LABOR charge for the additional hoses that were fixed since he didn't call me to let me know. I thought that was very very good! When I went to pick up my car on Saturday and Dwight was nice and asked if I wanted to pick up the car or keep it there and they could figure out the SMOG situation. He stated that my car could pass SMOG and when I asked how he said it would pass if they kept it and should be around $500. That they would drive it and make sure the check engine light didn't come back on and they make some adjustments and give the Passat a tune up. Because of the direction of the conversation that took place with John and confusion I decided to pay for what I was quoted and leave. Again very nice of LSI to waive the LABOR charge since they didn't call me to ok it but I just felt best that I pick up the car. I then took the Passat to a referral from another friend who said he could check if the Passat could pass SMOG. He hooked up some device and said it will pass. He referred me to a SMOG certification shop and IT PASSED!!! No more money needed to be spent....no tune up necessary.....now I know the PASSAT needs a tune up but wasn't necessary for the SMOG!! I kept the rating 3 stars because Dwight did follow up with a couple phone calls to see how things were going a few days after I picked up. I commend that effort. Nice guys and generally have been satisfied with their work. However, I had LSI repair our front and rear brakes. Six months later, we had service done at a different garage, and they told us "rear calipers are leaking brake fluid possibly due to brake work performed elsewhere". I took the car to LSI right after that and was told "rear calipers dry", "levels good no leaks that we could see". I decided to trust LSI. Six months after that, I had service done at a third garage and they recommended "replace rear brake pads and cut rotors" due to "pads at minimum thickness". Now I have two other garages saying the rear brakes were not fixed properly (btw, front brakes seem fine). I called LSI, and they asked to see the car again, but I don't trust them now. LSI refused to give a refund ($239.90) and did not respond to the BBB complaint. Eventually had the brakes fixed by the third garage (Toyota dealership). I won't give any more business to LSI. read more

Truly impressed by the service. I was sent here by Oceanside Transmission (another great shop), because i needed emergency radiator help. I was driving to San Diego, just wanted to get home and my car overheated. i eventually made it to LSI and they took great care of me. Fixed the radiator, replaced the thermostat, and got my car road ready in under 2 hours. They even recommended a great pizza/taco/beer place a block or two down the road. We were traveling from the Central Coast of California and our brakes went out on Friday morning. The dealership wanted $500 to fix it that day. Dwight and John and got it done in 90 minutes on Saturday morning for half the price the dealer wanted, and we were back on vacation without a hitch. First time here and will definitely be coming back. Normally, I do most of the work on my Xterra myself, but decided to come see John and Dwight after I ran into some trouble with my fuel pump. Pulling the fuel tank and re-attaching everything went fairly smoothly, but at the end of the day, it just would not start again. I knew that the issue had to be with the power supply or with the new fuel pump but, after putting everything back together, I just didn't have it in me to take it all apart again. So I have always heard great reviews about this place so when my roommate needed his F350 Diesel worked on we called them up they were nice at first and assured us that if they couldnt find the problem they wouldnt charge us for the diagnosis. We dropped it off on Monday and by Wednesday hadnt heard anything but they were rude and still didnt know what the problem was. They would say that they would call us back to keep us updated and never did then when we called we would leave messages and never hear anything. Finally by Friday we called and they said that it was fixed and $600 dollars later we drove it off the lot and it broke down a mile away where they said it was working fine for us. These guys are awesome! My car broke while I was down in Oceanside and I was devastated at the thought that I would have to cut my vacation short. Not only did the LSI crew fix my car, they were very reassuring and told me about some great food/things to do in Oceanside. When they were explained what they thought was wrong and saw I didn't really understand, they took the time to explain it in a way that I could get. I felt very comfortable while I was there and never like they were only trying to make money off me. I didn't end up getting the repairs done there (it was something under warranty), but when my car got towed to the dealership, the dealership found other things that were broken and said they fuel pump was perfectly fine and LSI was wrong....well now my car is in the shop again because the fuel pump is damaged, just like LSI said.
