This place is lovely. A youthful hangout with vintage vibes throughout. The unique drinks are worth the visit alone. Love that people are working on laptops and enjoying each other. We stopped by on a weekend morning. Love that they're open early for some fresh coffee drinks. Can't rave enough about the campfire s'mores coffee. It's amazing. The Voldermont was a delightful sweet surprise. It's really delicious. We will return for some night time vibes. The pretzel bun sandwich was the perfect blend of flavor with a hint of spicy. Both the vibe and food here are amazing. The menu features creatively named dishes with excellent taste. I had the "Damn. I'm so happy you did" sandwich and it was very filling. The Hawaiian Mac Salad was quite the surprise but it complimented the sandwich well. The restaurant also features tv screens showing classing movies as you enjoy your meal. This is definitely a place to go back to so you can complete work in peace. read more

Entering Luana's is like entering a friends house. You are greeted by a genuine staff in cute clothes and room filled with comforting Knick knacks your grandma would have around her house. It's a great place to sit and work, meet up with friends, or in my case come and pick up some matcha and lunch Togo! I definitely think Luana's should be in every Phoenician foodies rotation! Please try the you opened my eyes again sandwich! It's ooey gooey meltyness inside the pretzel bun is to die for and it comes with a side of their Mac salad and potato chips. I also highly recommend their Thursday trivia nights because they do make a pretty mean cocktail! read more

Rolled in at what I thought was the last minute, hours have changed and they are open till 9pm. Let me set the scene, dive bar vibe for sure, clientele told me this is a local favorite for all types, B-52's Rock Lobster blaring, disco lights in the gender neutral bathroom with crazy decor. Staffed by two amazing ladies, rocking a single group LaMarzocco so they know how to make real coffee, and did not disappoint. It's still amazing to see the quick/huge growth of Luana's in the last few years, from mobile coffee cart to a full-fledged amazing coffeehouse. The menu is pretty cool despite it being just sandwiches and fun (coffee) drinks. If you sit outside, you don't really feel like you're off a major street except for the occasional firetruck whizzing by. Aaron has really made a fun vibe, and his staff reflect that, with the joy they reverberate. Parking, as most people mention, is pretty limited in their lot (like 8 spots), but luckily it's not a terrible neighborhood with plenty of street parking around. Everything on the menu has a cute name which makes it easy to remember what you ordered! Brunch is really big here, since the last time I visited they've added in unlimited mimosas for $16 on the weekends. Fair warning- it's probably bottom-shelf champs. The counter waitress had me sold on it if I didn't have errands to run that afternoon I most recently came by. Sandwiches here are absolutely fabulous no matter what you order. The BYO breakfast sandwich is umami when you go with what's suggested, for me it was focaccia, bacon & gouda. Went with a simple Dammmn Daniel drink suggested as well and have no regrets. My refill was an iced americano which was fabulous as well. Seriously... don't pass up Luana's. read more

Checked this place out around 1pm for an early afternoon coffee, it was packed, which made sense after my experience. People clearly enjoy this place as much as I did. The atmosphere inside is cozy and organic, filled with plants and almost mid century modern furniture. I had the damn Daniel latte hot and it was delicious, my friend had the iced Liana's signature which he volunteered "very good" and I didn't even ask what he thought. I loved the subtle touches of suns support all over the coffee shop, from a hanging basketball pot to the Phoenix Luanas half court patio outside. We only had coffee but saw some pizza being taken to tables which looked delicious. Will definitely be back to try some! My only complaint is I wish there were multiple sizes for coffee, I love coffee and would have ordered a larger size. read more

First, this place nails the atmosphere angle. Bar none, best layout and decor. Love the division of spaces, both indoors and outdoors. They have the usual problem these places all have of empty tables for two, but two people taking up a table for eight. It happens, but try not ruin today for everyone by being you. The food is different and killer. They nailed it. A breakfast sandwich that is made like an Italian beef, but with turkey. Very different. Best breakfast I've had in awhile. If you want a change from the typical on food and coffee stop in here folks. My son got the S'mores coffee with marshmallows. Simply amazing. Make them a stop in Phoenix. Great food, atmosphere and staff. Parking a bit challenging but adequate. read more

I truly love the place, i've been coming here since you guys open, i was in high school at the time so i was willing to walk the mile for this place. the environment is so beautiful and amazing. i loved how every time i walked in the door i was welcomed in. you're employees are so nice to be around. although i have very much trouble sparking conversations, they make it so easy to talk to them. i love ordering their matcha matcha man here. and their french toast is amazing. If you grew up in or have fond memories of the 80's, this is the place for you. Adorned with electronics and artifacts that quickly disappeared in the 90's, Luana's offers a vibe-rich place to relax and have an eclectic and awesome selection of coffee drinks, alcoholic drinks, and food. The names of the food alone is a giveaway that "you are somewhere different". My wife and I came here on the recommendation of our daughter, a student at ASU. I could have sat there all day and enjoyed the nostalgia ride while drinking cappuccino's. I ate the Rexfast which is a interesting combination of Spam, buttered rice, and two fried eggs. It was like I was sitting at home in the early 80's in Texarkana all over again. My wife had the Basic College girl, which was brie, fig jam, apple slices on Focaccia. Brie and Fig are natural food allies and wife loved the combination. My daughter had the "And You Put Your Spell on Me Sandwich" and really enjoyed the spicy aoli on it. In summary: Coffee awesome. Food awesome. 80's retro vibe awesome. As a side note, the bathrooms were really unique as well with interesting lighting and decor. Worth going even if you don't have to. read more

TL:DR - Really cool counter culture coffee house vibe. Not really a hidden gem as EVERYONE seems to know about it. Parking sucks, you'll want to try to park in the neighborhood behind it. The voldermort is delicious and not just hype. Rexfast was a bit of a letdown. Food service was SLOOOW. Would love to come study, but only during the week when it's not so busy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, really love the ambiance of this place. It's like not quite a cafe but also more than a coffee shop? It's set up like a hidden gem, but it's clear the word is out. We came here on a Sunday for brunch and this place was PACKED. We were lucky to find an seat indoors since it was hot out. Their parking lot is absolutely TINY. The best bet is to park somewhere in the neighborhood behind them. Mostly empty and some trees out there provide shade as well. We ordered the voldermort (since it was so famous), avocado toast, and rexfast (essentially spam fried rice). The Voldermort is equally delicious as it is instagramable. The flavor is just a perfectly creamy vanilla coconut milk. The rexfast was a little disappointing. They give you three relatively large cuts of spam, I honestly would have preferred it to be diced and mixed in with the rice as the plastic ware doesn't really cut into it well. The rice itself was also relatively bland, I know it's butter rice, but add some salt at least. Ideally they would serve it with some garlic rice. The avocado toast looks a little dinky, but tasted great. Really great quality there. The only knock on this place is how long the food took. It took about 45 min from ordering till we got our food. I know it was busy, but that was something else... Other than that, there were lots of nice tables and lots of different rooms. Would love to come study or work here, but only on the weekday, otherwise it's just way too busy. read more

I miss when they were at the Historic Anderson house but the new place is fine too. I've only visited the new location twice so I'm not totally familiar with the menu yet. Seems great as a hangout. Most every customer I've encountered here is doing work or studying on a laptop so it can be quiet earlier in the day. Evening hours seem to be more social. I love the unique art and playful layout of the menu. Every aspect of this place will fully immerse you into the cozy-grandma-bachelor pad aesthetic the creator was going for. read more

Cannot give this place enough praise! From a coffee shop breakfast spot in the morning to cocktails, pizza and sandwiches throughout the day--it has everything. I hadn't been to the old location so my only experience is with the new one. I've been 3 times in the last few weeks since I moved into the area. Such cozy furniture, games and TVs there's something for everyone. Service is a little slow but not super noticeable and the friendliness of the staff makes up for it. The macaroni salad is so good I might just get an extra side of it next time. Pizzas are really good can't go wrong there and I have tried a few of the sandwiches and there wasn't one I didn't like. For coffee I got an americano with cream simple but the quality of coffee you can tell is amazing. Their cocktails are also nice I really enjoyed the habanero margarita. A cute place for coffee, sandwiches, or studying! There's also a bar. I just picked up a sandwich to go and it tasted great. Came with macaroni salad and chips, so you get a good amount of food for the cost. Lots of character and cool decorations, it is definitely one of a kind. It is a bit small, which makes social distancing measures difficult. It was busy with very loud music when I was there. Quirky/hipster coffee shop ambiance overall. Good customer service. Love how spooky it is in here for Halloween! Cute place, great menu, and especially - creative drinks! The coffee menu will prove hard for you to narrow it down to just one drink. So far I've had a decent amount of drinks here but my favorites are: The "Beautiful Chaos" latte which had two muddled Reese's melted with espresso, drizzled with chocolate, and vanilla, AND "The Campfire Smores" which had mocha, hazelnut, cinnamon topped with a fire roasted marshmellow! I prefer them breve style but I'm sure they're great with any type of milk. Their drinks feel decadent and their baked goods are larger than your average coffee shop's, especially their brownies, cookies, and M&M bars, I'd say almost double in size. So far I've had the Carrot Cake Muffin, Pumpkin Whoopie Pie, and Oreo Brownie which have all been soft, moist, and all-around great. They also have sandwiches, pizza, as well as cocktails. Prices are very reasonable for being downtown. Inside, seating options are plenty and they have options for small as well as larger groups. Service is usually friendly, and honestly there's only one negative, that their parking lot only has a few spaces, maybe 7 spots, and most are usually taken; I tend to get lucky finding 1 or 2 open spots. They are close to the McDowell/Central Ave light rail stop though. Also, you can park in the historic neighborhood south of them or in the nearby Hance Park lot if need be. read more

In my initial review I gave this business 3 stars explaining that the pizza they served me was bland. The owner decided to mock me and call me "an old yelping grump", did not show any desire to correct the situation and be reasonable with at least a nice comment about the fact that I expected more for a $20 personal pizza. The initial review was meant to be constructive criticism from someone that values getting their money's worth. I loved it here! Abe and Lex were such friendly faces who had a lot of regulars, which speaks to their level of service. The cafe itself is so quirky and cool. I loved that there's a ton of space so you have your choice of seating, like at a table or a sofa. There's plenty of outlets in case you want to work. My hot oat latte with a dash of honey was great. It had lots of foam and creaminess. It's not the best in the valley, but it soothed my soul, and it had beautiful latte art. They have tons of latte flavors, ranging from lavender to cocoa, so you can try a new flavor. A coworker brought me here recently for lunch and the atmosphere was so cute and eclectic. The menu had a lot of great options and as someone who is gluten-free, they had a cauliflower crust pizza which is awesome. This coffee shop started in a backyard and slowly but surely made its way to the streets in a mobile coffee cart. Now today an award winning full fledged neighborhood eatery. Luana's feels like your older brother took the cozy basement you grew up in, stole some of you dad's beer added an espresso machine, kept the old pool table and dart board, and ordered pizza and wings for the scary movie y'all rented from blockbuster. Only to fall asleep 10 minutes into it on that comfy couch your families had forever.

I visited Luana's for the first time, and I was a little disappointed. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance was immaculate. I was hoping this was a cafe I could visit more frequently, but after being served my food and coffee my friend and I observed some things that were a little unsettling. One of the staff members garnished a drink with bare hands, and I wanted to give things the benefit of the doubt and assume that safe hand washing practices are present. However, the staff proceeded to walk in/out of back of house and touching door knobs, then touching items that were being served to customers. I watched that same staff member sprinkle something on what appeared to be a cheesecake and then they swiped the excess off of the plate with their hand, serving it directly to the customer. The other staff member crushed an empty milk carton on the ground and picked it up with her hands to dispose of it. They proceeded to repeatedly dust off the portafilter with their hands before pulling each shot. I watched many espresso shots die as well because the staff allowed too much time in between making lattes. Unfortunately, my latte was not very good. My food was good and it was recommended to me by one of the staff members. However, it was disappointing because the food was a bit pricey. And, I really don't mind paying extra at a local business for good, quality food especially if the staff is being well taken care of. But, I did not feel inclined to eat it after observing how unsanitary the staff is with all of the food and drinks that were being served. If the staff had the proper tools, like some small tongs for garnishing and a portafilter duster to eliminate health safety risks, I would gladly return. As of now, I wouldn't recommend eating or drinking here. But, I would return to enjoy the atmosphere. read more
