Walked in with my 1 year old daughter, excited to grab a sub to have a picnic with her. We are in the restaurant for maybe 2 minutes before the lady behind the counter rudely tells me to stop letting my daughter touch all the individually packaged chips. She was incredibly rude in her tone and honestly if you don't want little kids touching the chips, maybe put them somewhere where they are out of reach. We all got subs, and were all remarking how good they were - come to find out that the friendly owner is a native New Yorker. Which explains it. Once at the back of the place you will see the menu and order your food. There is an assortment of club type sandwiches, gyros and wraps. I went for the peppered turkey sandwich with a slightly different side of fried mushrooms. The turkey was thinly sliced and shredded with the pepper mixed within. It was delightful. Wow what a gem. This is the exact type of sandwich/deli shop I've been needing in my life. Who knew Garland had the cheese, meat, and toasty bread to fill this void? We came for Reubens, but tried the red lentil soup of the day as well, and it was thick and creamy which made for a wonderful way to warm up on a rainy day. You can tell this place is family owned, the staff is so friendly and the woman taking our order was more than helpful! The pastrami reubens were layered perfectly, with just the right amount of cheese, meat, and tangy sauerkraut. I didn't see anyone wash their hands but it was literally seconds as I watched them cook. The meat was in paper pre sliced and continued to cook. No gloves were used so I decided on getting a refund.
