Cold food at 11:30am on a Friday. How do you serve cold food at lunchtime. Didn't they just open? I will never come back to this location.

My Family and I have been going to ' on Airport Rd for a long time now. The kids enjoyed the Wednesday evening out and we loved the friendliness of the staff there. For some reason, Luby's employed a new Manager, Mike I think his name is and he has no respect for anyone, no customer service skills and he stands over the servers and screams at them as they share the food. This particular evening, I ordered a kids meal and the server mistook it for a luanne and gave me a tat bit macaroni and cheese. She expressed her error and said, it's Ok, it was her error. The Manager wasn't having that, he screamed at her loudly at her station. ' ', he bellowed at her. Then he looked at me, the customer, and screamed at me to give her back the container. I stood there shocked, was this man bipolar or insane? He screamed at me again and threatened to charge me for a combo if I did not let her take back some macaroni and cheese. Luby's need to get rid of this lunatic. He is disrespectful, has no manners and certainly does not represent the Luby's culture. By the way, whatever happened to the combo containers? They have discontinued the combo containers, giving you a combo in a luanne container, lessening the food and also charging combo prices. Shame on you Luby's. But seriously, this Manager is crazy, there is no way he should represent any diner where there is a customer base. For certain, Luby's will not see me there again. read more

A couple weeks ago I ordered from this location, roasted chicken, dressing with cranberry sauce and fried cabbage. I received the order with only the roasted chicken, and fried cabbage mac & cheese, and cranberry sauce with no dressing. A few weeks later, I decided I would try it again ordered Luan fried fish, mac and cheese, and fried okra. If you haven't been to luby's it's basically a one-time through buffet where you make your own meal. They're basically all the same as well. The thing that makes luby's different from other Louise is that the people who refill your drinks are supposed to come and introduce them self immediately when you sit down. I always add my tip at the register so it's on my receipt so when the server comes they see that I have tipped them however at this location I had already finished my main course before they even arrived to say hello. Even though they came by and said hello they had a whole bunch of things in their hands so they couldn't refill my drink which basically was not refilled until I was done with my entire meal a little aggravating it was just water. read more

I've been a fan of Luby's for a long time, but another location I used to visit started going downhill and eventually closed. A year and a half ago I picked up a Thanksgiving meal from this particular Luby's, and thought the food was just OK. So I went there for lunch today with a group, having pretty low expectations. Maybe that helped...but I was pleasantly surprised. My food was hot and tasty, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. Only complaint is that one of our party requested a condiment at the register, was given a number and told it would be right out, and finally received it for the last couple bites. Second time going to Luby's. The concept is great, it's cafeteria style. This to me means choices galore! This particular trip was not that amazing. Not that the food wasn't good, it was. The lines temd to be long. So if you're a person with a mobility problem, this isn't good. Once I reach the food line...wjat do I see? A fly! Hovering and sitting on the salad and other items near by. I informed the server. She set the salad to the side. So?...are you throwing it out or waiting until I move on, amd putting it back? I didn't determine the outcome. Unfortunately, this messed up my appetite. Also, skipped dessert, on a diet, but they looked amazing. I do want to try a few one day. I like the fact you can order a little or a lot...choices! When I checked out I asked.for assistance with my tray to my table. It was provided, but I waited a bit until she pit down or finished what she was doing. While goimg to my table, she began talking. Thank God only a couple of words. They need to be mindful about talking over someone's food! Once seated the meal was good, took half home, still thinking about the fly...smj! Like another Yelper said, it's typical cafeteria food but it's not bad at all. The fried fish, yams and carrot/raisin salad are good. The dressing (for the turkey and dressing meal) has big cuts of raw celery which is a downer for me. I don't like raw celery in dressing or otherwise. I prefer sautéed and somewhat cooked celery. But I know every dressing recipe is different so I won't complain much on that. Some other items, though, are pretty substandard. The green beans have a "canned" taste. The roll was stale. The chocolate silk pie was bland with a very artificial tasting whipped "cream". Other cakes and pies I have tried were good, though. While some veggies do have that "out of the can and warmed up" taste they are still done well. It's worth coming to for lunch or dinner when you're in the mood for cafeteria style home cooking. read more

Another Fish Fiasco!!!! I was so excited about my dinner and then it happened, I cut into my Fish to discover it was Not Done! So I kindly sent it back undisturbed because apparently that was what the Kitchen manager and 1 of the servers were arguing about unbeknownst to me until after the fact. So Fish 2 arrives a little crustier than the 1st but guess whaaattt? Yep you got it STILL NOT DONE!!!! So as I sit typing waiting on fish 3 , I have finished my glorious cabbage and I'm working on my green beans that are equally as great. Darn you Luby's I was excited about my Fried fish. I sometimes come and eat alone after class. Today I came after class and ordered a salad and some other items. Food is always good. The servers are always nice also. Well, I was eating my salad when a piece got stuck in my throat and I couldn't breathe. I tried coughing it out and it wouldn't come up. I shot up really fast out of my seat and put my hands to my throat in the motion of "I'm choking" and faced the cashier, another guy working on a computer that works at Luby's and several clients. NOBODY HELPED ME. They all just stared at me while I choked and gasped for air. I understand it's not their fault I was choking but you think at least one of the employees would come up and try to help even if they don't know CPR. This review is only geared towards their new breakfast. It seems that more places are opening up for breakfast in Sugar Land and Stafford. That's great to hear for all of us. Luby's started their new Sat./Sun. only breakfast today. There were too many things wrong with it for me to return. First, they advertised as buffet however they served the food behind the glass as usual. I think a buffet should allow me to serve my own food. Breakfast is one of those meals where you want to get your waffle, and maybe dip the waffle in the syrup, or maybe you just want to pour 1 cup of syrup on your waffle. That's the great thing about breakfast. Everyone has their own way of eating breakfast food. For example, I know someone that eats the bacon with the syrup. I waited for someone to pour the smallest amount of syrup with a ladle on my waffle. I was put off immediately. I have to also say that the waffles appeared to be frozen waffles. I think they would have gotten more productivity out of the staff and satisfied customers by having someone making waffles or pancakes instead of having someone standing there ladling the smallest amount of syrup on my waffle one square at a time. It still does not compare to Otto's for the price and the food. The 5.99 price for the Luby's Breakfast with a drink puts 2 people in the 17.00 range. Otto's we can eat for less and get free coffee. We didn't order coffee at Luby's so I think my choice for breakfast is Otto's or Cafe Express in Sugar Land/Stafford area. Sorry Luby's but really.... read more

This location is at the end of a nearly vacant strip mall next to a church. (I bet they're busy on Sunday.) There is plenty of parking. The dining room has just been revamped. Seems like more seating than before. Luby's food is always ok. It's not bad... it's just fairly bland. There's always a lot of variety, and it always is hot and fresh. It just seems underseasoned across the board. The only stand out for me is the mac & cheese. read more

I have been a fan of the chicken fried chicken since I first tried it in Dallas while visiting my best friend. Since then, I usually visit the sugarland location to get it but today I was in the Stafford area. I had been craving Luby's the past 2 weeks and figured why not stop? Horrible decision. Now don't get me wrong the customer service was great! The food was not fresh at all. My chicken fried chicken was overly crunchy and the meat was tough. Usually I'm a greedy butt, but I couldn't even finish more than 1/4 of my entree which is very unusual. Won't be coming back to this location! read more

The service was horrible, a oversized white woman at the register had a horrible attitude & the servers that worked the line were rushing & rude as well. Then once I ate my food, everything tasted like water. My blackened tilapia had lemon seeds on top from the sliced lemons & my cabbage was very under cooked. I went into the Luby's on W. Airport in Missouri City earlier. I picked up a tray, went through the line, and selected my lunch items (baked whitefish, kale, roasted squash). I waited in line at the cash register, and when the cashier completed the transaction for the customer just ahead of me, she turned to me and announced that her computer had frozen up, so I would have to go check out at the other line. I am not sure how confident I would be in the reported malfunction, as she announced this immediately after completing a sale, with no apparent effort to negotiate with the register on her part. She then abruptly walked away. She didn't give the other cashier a heads-up, either. So, I dutifully moved to the other register, taking my place in line, and began waiting. After a moment, another employee showed up at the first register and began ringing up orders. Her line quickly filled up. I stood there and observed all of this with what must have been obvious disbelief on my face. So, of course, I set my tray on the counter and left. I wanted to go somewhere that i havent been to in awhile thinking that things were gonna go pretty smoothly. I was 90% right lol. The only negative is that my wife and i both had the fried fish dinnner but my wife had to send her fish back twice. Mine on the other hand was well prepared. By the third time, they got it right. My mac and cheese and corn was delicious and my wife loved her cabbage and green beans (and shes really picky.........i mean REALLY picky lol). I remember the days growing up, after church we would sometimes have lunch at Luby's. It was always a special occasion. Fast forward to now. It's not the same. It's never the same like you remembered it. Food looked good. When it came to grab our drinks, looking at the glasses scared me. I had to find the cleanest of the bunch. I'm proud to say that after this location lost my business for a long time, that they have made a lot of improvements and I now eat here a couple times a week. I'm guessing they changed management. The staff is now friendlier, food quality better and portions bigger. I had actually boycotted them for a couple of years after several bad experiences, but now I am a fan of their soup and salad combos. So glad they stepped up their game! Typical cafeteria food but for the price and to get you full its good. The mac n cheese is spotty... sometimes its very watery and runny but at times it is spot on! Creamy cheesy goodness. Luby's is the place I go when I want homestyle meal and/or some healthy eats. I think after eating at this location for 14 years- I am considered a regular. This locale must treat their employees like superstars because they have had the same employees forever! Their happiness shows too because the ladies are always in a great mood and happy to serve. They know my boys and always greet me like family. The food has changed throughout the years both good and bad. They used to have a killer Greek salad that I miss dearly. The new menu offers calorie counts and that helps me alot since I have to watch my figure. Bootylicious sounds good in theory but really...nobody wants to see all that jiggly. LOL Okay- I got side tracked. Yes, they offer healthy options but you can still find some of your classics like the fried fish, mac & cheese and those yummy fried okra pieces. Luby's got a major facelift- not Joan Rivers tight- more like a Kris Jenner refresher. They added more flat screen TVs, booth seating & updated light fixtures. Prices are a bit higher but you can definitely see that your money is going to nicer setting and fresh food. @ Gianna-- I checked out the green beans today and they were definitely fresh. When you order lunch for your work Thanksgiving to be eaten today and you get here to pick it up and It's COLD. The manager said they always do them cold the day before Thanksgiving. Nope. I ordered last year and it was hot when I picked it up. Now sitting here for another 35 minutes while they heat it up so I can take it back to my hungry office. Me and my husband decided to have breakfast at Luby's expecting the breakfast to be as good as the Lunch and Dinner....well it was horrible not a great selection to start.Pancakes half cooked, cold to the touch. Eggs cold... Pan sauasage looked like a rubber toy for dogs to chew on....bacon cold....the Juice was perfect. We took one bite and asked for the counterperson to let her know why we are leaving she calls the manager (Chris) over my husband tells her our problem she ask him Sir have you eaten her before. Had the manager special - chicken fried pork chop. He should have tasted it before he put his name on it. They left the bone and grissle in. I guess that is fine if you can cut around and see what you are eating. Chicken fried and covered with gravy makes that impossible. Almost broke a tooth. Even if there was no bone - it was still hard to swallow. Broccoli rice casserole was worse. Good thing the pinto beans and roll was edible. If not I would have not eaten anything for lunch.
