Cafeteria concept. All of the food looked good. I had the fried chicken, broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes. Wife's had the Monterey chicken, broccoli casserole and mac and cheese. This Luby's is really good and the staff is so nice and helpful and most of the staff has been working there for many years. It's really nice to go and the cashier remembers you and she has a fan club lol as she's so good at lunch time and gets the senior crowd through the line with a smile. 5:20 on Sunday afternoon. Wife loves Luby's and not one where we live. We were in Conroe and thought we would try Luby's. Got in a short line. I wanted a fried chicken breast. They were out?? Okay got the baked fish. Out of lemons though. Got sweet potatoes (cold). Green beans were warm. Jalapeño cornbread hard and cold. Wife's roll was cold. Her squash was hot. New potatoes were Luke warm. Baked fish ( we both got that) was cold. Sent almost everything back to get microwaved. The forgot about our food they heated up. Had to go up and remind them. Went to cashier to pick it up. Sad. We really miss cafeteria's and will probably not be back. Where else in this area can you get vegetables? Too bad. read more

Service: the cashier was friendly and the lady offering to refill my drink was nice, the the people serving food were not the friendliest and the one girl was either quiet or didn't say anything. Needless to say it was awkward. Food: I was the second person in the restaurant for the day right at 11 and the chicken fried steaks were soggy already. The rice and broccoli was good and the Mac and cheese was great. Just disappointed that the steak was already soggy and honestly the meal for 2 costing so much was off putting. Luby's has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl. Hubby and I ate there today. I had the Luann plate with fried fish, macaroni and cheese, yams with marshmallows and jalapeño cornbread. The fried fish always has a nice batter and cooked just right as is the Mac and cheese. The yams weren't very warm and marshmallows not melted so I gave them 4 stars. Hubby had fried chicken. I like Liver and Onions and since hubs doesnt eat it, that's what I get with two sides and a white yeast roll for the Luann platter. An all-American standard. This restaurant is one of the cleanest, well run and seems to always have the same staff for long periods of time which tells me that they are also good to their employees. We go there whenever we have a craving for one of their original food items; (like their square fried fish or the liver and onions), but we also go when we want to try one of their finer add-ons like the whitefish almondine with braised green beans. A group of ladies went to Lubys today for lunch. Yes I understand the Fed or banks claim there is a shortage of coins( but I don't believe it) without asking me they rounded up my bill from $10.15 to $11.00. Never said a word about asking if I had change. When I checked my receipt I noticed what had happened and told the waitress I didn't like that. She called the manager, explained the problem to him. And they gave me a dollar back when I gave them the change. I don't appreciate that they didn't even asked me if I had change they just took my money. Some of the other ladies with me didn't leave a tip because they felt like Lubys had already taken the money for the tip. As bad as restaurants need customers nowadays and they do this to customers. Had lunch there today. I eat there once a week and half that time I order the chicken. Today it was awful. They changed the batter and I think the way they cook it. The batter was literally so tough I could not chew it. The chicken tasted like an old hen and it was tough. I had the combo which was a breast and wing piece and a leg. I could not eat some of it. I ask one of the employees if she could send the manager over and she said yes, then came back to say she would give him a message. She did ask if I wanted something else which is why I am giving two stars instead of one. I guess the manager was too busy to hear from a customer. Why is Luby's charging for to go containers? On 11/29/23, I went to Luby's and purchased two to go LuAnn plates, I was charged a fee for the to go containers. Well, first of all this is the first of time we have been disappointed in the food at Luby's. We have been going to this location for over 2 years and have not experienced what we did today. The Veggie Soup broth was colored water with no flavor. The Pork Loin with Gravy was thin with no seasoning. The bathroom was disgusting to say the least and my Grandmother who was with me was shocked. No paper towels and the sink (this has been an issue for awhile) was running with no way to stop it. FIX IT! CLEAN IT! Care! we love Luby's and will continue to eat there but this location needs to get there act together or maybe pay them more so they will try harder. read more

Thanks for the very tasty dinner! I've been craving liver and onions with mashed potatoes and gravy. Tonight I ordered via Door Dash. The turnaround time was less than 1/2 hour. My meal was delivered hot and ready to eat. Homemade taste just like my mom used to make and to my surprise.... real potatoes !!! So even if Luby's doesn't mind, how does the health department feel about this grossness and unsanitary animal behavior?!?!? There was no display of this dog's "service" animal certificate nor did we observe anyone at Luby's inquire as to one.
