Service sucks! Employee don't even acknowledge you with not a simple hello. Place was so quiet you could hear a pen drop. TVs off and music. I used to be a big fan of Firehouse when I lived in Buffalo and they make pretty good chili - which is what I would come here for. This location is friendly and I appreciate that and some of their sandwiches are pretty good. I have to say that my life changed for the better once I discovered Firehouse Subs. No, seriously. This whole time I thought I had to go to Subway or Quiznos when I wanted a quick sandwich. Not anymore! Firehouse Subs is so much better. The bread is light, the ingredients are fresh, and the staff is very friendly. I've tried every sandwich on the menu, and I like pretty much all of them. My favorites are the Club on a Sub and the Italian. The Italian come with like four different meats and cheeses. Like wow. It's amazing. The cookies are also very tasty. All of the menu items also have posted calorie counts, which is really helpful if you're trying to carefully craft your meal plans around that. The best part about Firehouse Subs is that you're able to round up your bill and donate the excess to the Houston Fire Department. Out of all the franchise Sandwich spots Firehouse subs, Quiznos, and Pot Belly are probably the best. It's hard to decide which is the absolute best but they each have their slight differences. Firehouse subs give you great quantity but sometimes that feels like it's more so due to the size of the bread, sometimes they don't put enough meat, veggies, cheese so you feel like you're eating more bread than anything else. Firehouse is also a bit on the pricey side of you want extra meat and cheese. I still like Quiznos the best but Firehouse is a decent alternative. I can't recall having this many mistakes with one sub before. I ordered an old menu option called an Engine Company (turkey+roast beef+cheese) and asked to add cherry peppers and jalapenos. We came here at the least busy time (4:30pm) on a Wednesday, and the 2 stars are only for the patient lady that took our order. In the 21st century and in Sugarland, Texas- I'm baffled that there is no veggie sandwich on the menu! The staff looked exhausted and confused by our attempt at ordering 3 vegetarian sandwiches. C'mon people, just because it's not a preset menu option doesn't mean you can't build something amazing and tasty that will make me want to at least consider coming back. Even subway and jimmy johns have veggie options. Lettuce is not a real vegetable, it's a filler. The sandwich team needs to stop complaining about "modifications" when your menu only had items like cucumbers and olives listed as veggies to add to a sub. Making a great sandwich is an art that requires good customer service skills such as asking the vegetarian if you would like to add/subtract items in lieu of meat. When you end the experience with "we have no special sauces left" (the only reason for coming to this place), it's a no go for me. read more

I went here last week when I had a sandwich craving for lunch. It just recently opened and I was eager to try it out. When you first get in you are greeted by the firehouse paraphernalia, and the steam from their machines. We were also greeted by a pretty decent line. Not too long, and the people were friendly so that didn't make too big a difference. But then the line took ages to get through. I do have to say they could be a lot more efficient. It seems as if each staff member does all parts of the one sandwich, as opposed to an assembly line like Which Wich or Subway. It means that they can have less staff during slow times, but at a busy lunch, it means that they run incredibly slowly. As for the sub itself, I got the New York Steamer, which has thinly sliced roast beef and pastrami, and it was seriously delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted (unlike the issues I have with Subway and Quiznos who cannot figure out how to properly toast sandwiches). The meat was really really good, and I consider myself a bit of a pastrami snob. All in all, it was a great sandwich and I will go back sometime soon, I just hope that they get through the growing pains and get faster because it makes it hard to spend too much time when you are there during the lunch rush. read more

I got it large (2 dollars more) because it didn't seem like the regular would fill me up. The sandwich itself was awesome. The meat was juicy and was great with the cheese and barbecue sauce.
