Attempted to get a sandwich at the OP farmers market decided it was worth the drive to go to the store instead. It was about a 20 minute drive but well worth it. My sausage, egg and cheese, with hot honey on an everything bagel was a good mix of sweet & savory from the sausage & hot honey. The bagel ($12) was very fresh & chewy. The store is a little difficult to see from the street. It was pretty busy for a late sat morning but my sandwich was prepared in a timely manner. As far as service, nothing stood out as the cashier just took my order like every other customer.

The bagel sandwiches were great! I agree with the other reviews, the service isn't great. The cashier made us feel like we're bothering her and she did not really care about how we wanted our bagels. Overall, definitely worth it if you're in the area! We've also had their bagels at the farmers market pop up and they're pretty good if you don't mind the line.

5/5 as always! Don't let the long lines (on prime weekend times) fool you, it's worth the wait! ToGo order today, note there is a $10 minimum purchase. So speedy & love the texts when it's ready to grab. Today I repurchased the Cheddar Serrano Bagel & Scallion Schmear, one of my favorite combos. There's a little bit of kick but the cream cheese tones it down. I also got the Sourdough Poppy & Onion Bialy and Pretzel Bagels for later. Ended up eating the Bialy and wow was it chewy soft & unique with the onions in the center. Always happy when Luca Bagels is part of my morning!

I have been wanting to go to Luca Bagel for awhile with how good everything looks on their social media! A friend and I took advantage of the great weather and grabbed lunch here. I got a #6 on a maldon salted bagel. That sandwich had nova salmon, tomato, onion, capers, cucumbers, and scallion schmear. Top notch sandwich! The staff were friendly and had some great suggestions from their menu. At one of their suggestions, I also picked up a pumpernickel bagel with green olive schmear for the next morning's breakfast. This was also phenomenal! The space is pretty small with four tables and limited seating + some areas to stand and eat. The space was pretty crowded today (a good sign, in my opinion) so you may want to have a back-up plan if you intend to eat there. Big parking lot available so you don't need to worry about street parking.

After many mornings waiting in a massive line at the OP Farmer's Market and even several takeout orders way back when they were doing pop ups at Providence Pizza in Westport, I finally made the trip to Brookside for a bagel sandwich from the brick & mortar. As something of a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, I can confidently say Luca Bagel makes some of the best. Their bagels are fresh and chewy and well-seasoned. They really know how to generously stuff a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. All of their bagel sandwiches are fantastic, no matter what combination you choose. They can get busy on the weekend mornings, so order online to avoid having to wait extra time for your order. It's tiny inside with only a few tables and barely enough space for a line at the counter. There is a parking lot right outside the store, or there is the parking garage a block away, so plenty of parking options!

Rosemary sour dough bagel with a scallion shmear (I didn't taste rosemary so I think this might just be their plain one?)

Truly delicious bagels. Got there at about 10 on a Sunday and received my bagel in about 45 minutes (waited in line for about 30 min) I ordered a rosemary bagel with scallion shmear but I think I was given just a plain sour dough bagel as I didn't see or taste rosemary. Still VERY delicious. The other bagel I got for my husband which he thoroughly enjoyed. I tried a bite (with two Serrano slices on it) and it was too spicy for me but the flavor otherwise was delicious! Staff was friendly as well

I only had one morning for breakfast in KC, and I knew I had to try Luca Bagel after seeing videos of incredible cheese pulls on social media of the bagel sandwiches. The line was out the door when I arrived, but ordering went quickly. They texted when my order was ready, so I was able to wait in my car, which I appreciated. I ordered the #1 - Sausage, egg, and cheese with sriracha cream cheese and a hot honey drizzle on an everything bagel. Everything about this breakfast sandwich was top notch - from the quality of the sausage patty to the perfect chew of the bagel and kick of heat from the hot honey and sriracha. It was super craveable and won't leave you hungry!

I had to come back to try their new lunch bagels and they did not disappoint. I loveeee a philly cheesesteak and this was 10/10 fantastic. I will def be back to try the reuben bagel!

Amazing breakfast sandwiches! There's a reason why people line up at the Overland Park Market. The bagels are delicious and moist/dense/chewy, not your standard dry bread that requires toasting to make a quality sandwich. The breakfast sausage was high quality and not greasy. Definitely would recommend checking this place out.

I heard great things so I decided to stop in. I would highly recommend getting there early because you'll probably be waiting in line. It took about an hour from when I got in line to when I left with food in hand. So plan accordingly. The shop itself is small but there are a few tables. It was pretty crowded in there so I would have a backup option in case it's too packed to actually eat there. Everyone I interacted with was friendly despite being super busy. I decided to try the #1: sausage, egg, and cheese with sriracha mayo and hot honey drizzle. You can choose your bagel and I went with the Asiago bagel. This sandwich was delicious. Everything had a really good flavor and was super fresh. The bagel had a nice chew. I'd definitely order it again and I highly recommend it! I also decided to try a couple bagels with cream cheese. My go to is blueberry so I went with a bagel and cream cheese in that flavor. Both were really good. Again, the bagel had a great chew and the blueberries were plentiful. I really liked the cream cheese too. They were also advertising the pretzel bagel pairs with a beer schmear made with their neighbor BKS artisan ales. So I had to get one. Again, it was a home run. I was skeptical at first but the flavor was great and won me over. Definitely stop in!

Apparently Kansas Citians love a great bagel. This new bagel spot has only been open a few weeks and the line was nearly to the sidewalk. No exaggeration. Luca Bagel has replaced Mattie's in Brookside which is sad. The service is friendly but not very quick. I went on a Saturday morning and I guess everyone else had the same idea. Tip: if you go on the weekend be prepared to wait about an hour: 40 minutes in line and 20 to get your order. The menu is solid - offering sweet and savory bagels, breakfast and lunch Sammie's. They even have gf options. My friend got a #1 with a plain gf bagel sub sausage for turkey bacon. It was filing and delicious. Pricing is reasonable if you get a bagel and schmear. Although a good size, I think the sammies are spendy. In addition to bagels, they have coffee, juice, water and cookies. Cute inside and very limited seating. Tip 2: plan to park on street - the lot is one way and fills up fast if line is out the door. I personally don't think it's worth the wait but apparently I'm in the minority because everyone else does.

Food was amazing. Every time I come here and try something new, it tastes great. They don't skimp out on the meat/filling in the bagel sandwiches at all. The service from the employees are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty much a local, hole-in-the-wall establishment which has its charm. Seating available indoors and outdoors. Place is always busy, but the food is ready pretty fast.

These sandwiches aren't cheap and ordering online where the instructions are printed in front of their faces you wouldn't think it would be a difficult thing to do. But lo and behold the last 4 orders it's wrong every time and they are slow. When they do mess up there is no remorse just attitude. The order before this they ran out of white bread in the early afternoon. Since it was for my kid and he is picky he wouldn't eat anything else, I got the most attitude about requesting a refund instead it almost turned me off forever. But today I decided to give them another chance and try them again. Never again. Ordered 2 giant subs and just requested them plain. Somehow that was too much but after coming back to the store and informing them, it was an inconvenience to request the sandwiches made correctly. Was I pushed to the front of the online orders? Nope. So the entire point of ordering online was defeated because I ended up waiting over an hour between the 2 times having to go that I could and should have gone somewhere else. Once I got my food, it was wrapped so poorly that half of the turkey sandwich I ordered was at the bottom of the bag. Going to go somewhere the customers are actually appreciated

I always get the number 9 on Rosemary Parmesan bread and this was exactly what I was expecting and in line with previous orders at other locations. I do ask them to remove the onions because I'm just not a fan and on this occasion it was missed. Not a huge deal because I just removed them myself but I appreciate when they just omit it. The space wasn't the largest but there were a few tables and it seemed relatively clean. I'd definitely grab a sandwich and recommend them to anyone in the area.

My friend and I split the bill for our order, and she cheerfully rang up each of our portions separately. She guided us through some of the menu options which was much appreciated as there were some new items since my last visit. The food here is FANTASTIC!! I can't remember what I ordered on my first visit (but I do remember that it was delicious!); this week, I had the Brookside Buiddha Bowl, which was AMAZING! Even the presentation was wonderful (see attached photo)! All the ingredients were delicious, and the flavors melded beautifully, and it was so satisfying; it kept me fueled and focused during a long afternoon at work. My friend had the Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch salad and said it was mouth-wateringly fabulous. The weather was nice enough to sit in the outside patio, which is well-appointed (even a free water station); the first time I was here, I ate indoors and the dining area is light, airy, and expansive, with plenty of room between tables and quiet enough to chat. To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good. The chicken was cold, but still held some flavor, the dressing was great, there were fresh veggies, pickled onions. It was one of the best 400 calorie meals I've had in a long time. Here, the strict, timeless geometry of the Left Bank softens into a warm, sun-lit casual elegance, a neighborhood sanctuary where the hum of local politics replaces the brooding silence of the philosopher's corner. It is a space where the Democratic social scene is always in full, effervescent effect, a kinetic theater of ideas where local strategists, organizers, and policy wonks gather over marble tables to debate the future of the state while tearing apart freshly baked croissants. The air thickens not with existential dread, but with the electric, hopeful prose of a collective striving for progress, making it the definitive salon of the modern suburban landscape. The beauty of French Market lies in this seamless blending of civic passion and culinary delight. Every corner of the room feels curated with a benevolent affection, an atmosphere fueled entirely by a staff that can only be described as thoroughly fabulous. From the front counter to the busy kitchen, the team moves with a synchronized, smiling grace that makes every patron feel like the guest of honor at an intimate neighborhood gathering. They navigate the bustling room with a genuine warmth, pouring drinks and delivering plates with an infectious energy that elevates the casual setting into something truly extraordinary. It is a rare, beautiful thing to find a restaurant where the hospitality feels less like a service industry transaction and more like a generous act of civic kinship. On the plate, the market routinely touches the sublime, offering dishes that sing with a clear, poetic precision. The crab cakes are a revelation of coastal longing, packed with sweet, tender lump meat and boasting a delicate, golden sear that yields effortlessly to the fork. Nearby, the croque madame arrives as an opulent, dripping monument to breakfast-time indulgence, a decadent tower of savory ham and melted Gruyère crowned with a perfectly runny egg that coats each bite in a rich, golden velvet. To wash down these triumphs, one must order the French press coffee, a dark, aromatic brew that arrives in a slow, plunging ritual, delivering a bold, robust punch that commands your full attention and jump-starts any morning debate. While the kitchen operates at a remarkably high standard across the board, a discerning diner must exercise a small measure of tactical restraint when navigating the entrees. For all the brilliance on display, it is best to gently bypass the steak frites for the time being, steering clear of the dish until the kitchen source a more premium quality of beef to match their otherwise flawless standards. But this minor detour is easily forgotten the moment you glance toward the pastry case. The desserts here are an absolute, transcendent poetry of sugar and butter, offering delicate tarts and airy confections that are nothing short of sublime. French Market remains a triumphant, essential neighborhood jewel, where the food is exceptional, the people are magnificent, and the conversation never stops flowing.
