OBSESSED with luca bagel. i bring my boyfriend here every time he comes to visit me. we both love it so much. everything on the menu is so good. we want to try it all. there's always a wait but it's worth it
Attempted to get a sandwich at the OP farmers market decided it was worth the drive to go to the store instead. It was about a 20 minute drive but well worth it. My sausage, egg and cheese, with hot honey on an everything bagel was a good mix of sweet & savory from the sausage & hot honey. The bagel ($12) was very fresh & chewy. The store is a little difficult to see from the street. It was pretty busy for a late sat morning but my sandwich was prepared in a timely manner. As far as service, nothing stood out as the cashier just took my order like every other customer.
The bagel sandwiches were great! I agree with the other reviews, the service isn't great. The cashier made us feel like we're bothering her and she did not really care about how we wanted our bagels. Overall, definitely worth it if you're in the area! We've also had their bagels at the farmers market pop up and they're pretty good if you don't mind the line.

So speedy & love the texts when it's ready to grab. Today I repurchased the Cheddar Serrano Bagel & Scallion Schmear, one of my favorite combos. There's a little bit of kick but the cream cheese tones it down. I also got the Sourdough Poppy & Onion Bialy and Pretzel Bagels for later. Ended up eating the Bialy and wow was it chewy soft & unique with the onions in the center. Always happy when Luca Bagels is part of my morning!
I have been wanting to go to Luca Bagel for awhile with how good everything looks on their social media! A friend and I took advantage of the great weather and grabbed lunch here. I got a #6 on a maldon salted bagel. That sandwich had nova salmon, tomato, onion, capers, cucumbers, and scallion schmear. Top notch sandwich! The staff were friendly and had some great suggestions from their menu. At one of their suggestions, I also picked up a pumpernickel bagel with green olive schmear for the next morning's breakfast. This was also phenomenal! The space is pretty small with four tables and limited seating + some areas to stand and eat. The space was pretty crowded today (a good sign, in my opinion) so you may want to have a back-up plan if you intend to eat there. Big parking lot available so you don't need to worry about street parking.
After many mornings waiting in a massive line at the OP Farmer's Market and even several takeout orders way back when they were doing pop ups at Providence Pizza in Westport, I finally made the trip to Brookside for a bagel sandwich from the brick & mortar. As something of a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, I can confidently say Luca Bagel makes some of the best. Their bagels are fresh and chewy and well-seasoned. They really know how to generously stuff a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. All of their bagel sandwiches are fantastic, no matter what combination you choose. They can get busy on the weekend mornings, so order online to avoid having to wait extra time for your order. It's tiny inside with only a few tables and barely enough space for a line at the counter. There is a parking lot right outside the store, or there is the parking garage a block away, so plenty of parking options!
Truly delicious bagels. Got there at about 10 on a Sunday and received my bagel in about 45 minutes (waited in line for about 30 min) I ordered a rosemary bagel with scallion shmear but I think I was given just a plain sour dough bagel as I didn't see or taste rosemary. Still VERY delicious. The other bagel I got for my husband which he thoroughly enjoyed. I tried a bite (with two Serrano slices on it) and it was too spicy for me but the flavor otherwise was delicious! Staff was friendly as well
I only had one morning for breakfast in KC, and I knew I had to try Luca Bagel after seeing videos of incredible cheese pulls on social media of the bagel sandwiches. The line was out the door when I arrived, but ordering went quickly. They texted when my order was ready, so I was able to wait in my car, which I appreciated. I ordered the #1 - Sausage, egg, and cheese with sriracha cream cheese and a hot honey drizzle on an everything bagel. Everything about this breakfast sandwich was top notch - from the quality of the sausage patty to the perfect chew of the bagel and kick of heat from the hot honey and sriracha. It was super craveable and won't leave you hungry!
I had to come back to try their new lunch bagels and they did not disappoint. I loveeee a philly cheesesteak and this was 10/10 fantastic. I will def be back to try the reuben bagel!

The bagels are delicious and moist/dense/chewy, not your standard dry bread that requires toasting to make a quality sandwich. The breakfast sausage was high quality and not greasy. Definitely would recommend checking this place out.

I decided to try the #1: sausage, egg, and cheese with sriracha mayo and hot honey drizzle. You can choose your bagel and I went with the Asiago bagel. This sandwich was delicious. Everything had a really good flavor and was super fresh. The bagel had a nice chew. I'd definitely order it again and I highly recommend it! I also decided to try a couple bagels with cream cheese. My go to is blueberry so I went with a bagel and cream cheese in that flavor. Both were really good. Again, the bagel had a great chew and the blueberries were plentiful. I really liked the cream cheese too. They were also advertising the pretzel bagel pairs with a beer schmear made with their neighbor BKS artisan ales. So I had to get one. Again, it was a home run. I was skeptical at first but the flavor was great and won me over. Definitely stop in!
Apparently Kansas Citians love a great bagel. This new bagel spot has only been open a few weeks and the line was nearly to the sidewalk. No exaggeration. Luca Bagel has replaced Mattie's in Brookside which is sad. The service is friendly but not very quick. I went on a Saturday morning and I guess everyone else had the same idea. Tip: if you go on the weekend be prepared to wait about an hour: 40 minutes in line and 20 to get your order. The menu is solid - offering sweet and savory bagels, breakfast and lunch Sammie's. They even have gf options. My friend got a #1 with a plain gf bagel sub sausage for turkey bacon. It was filing and delicious. Pricing is reasonable if you get a bagel and schmear. Although a good size, I think the sammies are spendy. In addition to bagels, they have coffee, juice, water and cookies. Cute inside and very limited seating. Tip 2: plan to park on street - the lot is one way and fills up fast if line is out the door. I personally don't think it's worth the wait but apparently I'm in the minority because everyone else does.
Food was amazing. Every time I come here and try something new, it tastes great. They don't skimp out on the meat/filling in the bagel sandwiches at all. The service from the employees are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty much a local, hole-in-the-wall establishment which has its charm. Seating available indoors and outdoors. Place is always busy, but the food is ready pretty fast.

You know a place is good when at 2:00 in the afternoon there is a line out the door. Being a relocated New Yorker, I am always on the hunt for a good bagel. The shop has only a few tables so it's more of a "grab and go". They had a nice variety of different types of bagels from sourdough to gluten-free. We opted for breakfast sandwiches. I got the #5 avocado egg turkey bacon cheese on an Asiago cheese bagel. It was very filling. I could only eat half. The serving portions were generous. The bagel had a nice outside chew. read more

There were so many good things on the menu it was hard to pick! I'm in my sourdough era though so I decided to get the rosemary salt sourdough bagel with scallion cream cheese. It was so good and fluffy! They definitely load up the schmear in the bagel so if that's not your thing, maybe ask for less! The dining area is a little small. I walked there some friends and we all had kids in strollers and it was tight, but they also have a nice standing bar outside that we ate at! Everyone there was also super nice and so helpful! Well this is quite the adorable little breakfast spot! Walked over here with a couple of friends this morning! Our strollers took up basically the whole quaint restaurant! I've been wanting to try Luca Bagel for a while, and it did not disappoint. I got the #2 bacon egg and cheddar with the scallion cream cheese. It was delicious, although next time I will go light on the cream cheese. It's a popular place, so the wait was a little long, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Since it was so busy and kind of a small place I can't really see myself sitting down there to catch up with friends - would definitely recommend getting to go. I'm excited to come back! read more

Holy cow is this place good. I had been wanting to visit here for a while so when the opportunity arose a few months ago I jumped at it! First of all the bagels are top notch. They are chewy, big, delicious. Secondly it's really the only place in KC that you can get the kind of NY style bagel sandwich that you see on Instagram. To say I was blown away by the size and flavor of the sandwich I ordered is an understatement. One of these could honestly feed two people, and I'm not complaining. I'm already planning my next visit and this time I want to try some of their house made cream cheeses as they looked so good and I was too full to buy any more bagels after my sandwich on my last visit! read more

My first morning driving from overland park to brookside. I will say the customer service is best in the bagel world in KC!!!!! Heard all the hype at OP farmers market so at 7 am iff i went. No onion bagel, Which is my go to but had asiago which cheese is on too of bagel not incorporated. Came home and made bagel sandwich. Exterior is firm and crunchy and inside is soft and chewy. Wow so yummy!! My first time here and trying a New Jersey style bagel. We got the #3 with the blueberry bagel, #2 with the cheddar jalapeño bagel, and #5 on the everything bagel. My favorite was the #5. Parking is pretty tight since they are busy. The line was out the door when we came. Had to park on the street and walk over which was fine. Staff were nice and efficient they made everyone's orders in a timely manner. read more

The sandwich was everything I needed it to be - served warm, chewy/crispy bagel - quality ingredients. I was full for hours afterward. Unfortunately, I tried this place on Valentines Day morning, when it was raining. I had no idea the seating and parking was very limited. We waited for over 30 minutes for our order - but I blame my timing and no knowledge of seating options prior to our visit. I really love that this place has so many bagel options (not just bagels with cream cheese). I'll definitely be back! read more

Excited to finally try Luca Bagel at their storefront, as I first had them while they were a popup at some of the local farmer's markets. Nice selection of bagels to choose from, my favorite being sesame and everything. Bagels were super chewy, just as you'd want them. The open face bagel and lox was delicious! Bagel sandwiches we ordered were deliciousness!! but the customer service wasn't the best, when we ordered we felt like we were bothering the cashier when asking for suggestions since it was our first time. The space is really small for the amount of foot traffic it gets, felt like there was no where to wait without being in the way. read more

We decided to try the #1 sausage egg and cheese on the cheddar serrano, #7 pizza bagel on pretzel and cinnamon raisin bagel with the blueberry schmear. The line to order was long but went quick, the wait was about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning but worth it. The staff was very friendly and efficient! It got a little tight inside with everyone waiting for names to be called so I do think some sort of text or microphone system could benefit in the future but not a bad problem to have - very much a grab and go atmosphere rather than eat inside. Luca Bagel delivers a hefty, creamy breakfast sandwich that is the perfect way to start your morning. The amount of bagel options alone, along with your choice of smear means that there are so many different you can customize your sandwich to you liking. This is more of a grab and go spot, but there are also a few tables if you want to enjoy it right then and there. So delicious! Great new addition to Brookside. I got the lox bagel and it was soo delicious. Will be coming back to try new smears and bagel types. Has indoor seating, or can sit on the curb outside. Workers were super kind and gave us recommendations on what to pair with what bagel. Loved it! read more

Was the breakfast bagel delicious? Absolutely. Was it wait 20 minutes in line and another 35 in the parking lot delicious? Unfortunately, no. This small bagel shop clearly has a loyal following--the line was out the door when I arrived. The staff were hustling and doing their best, but the operation just couldn't keep pace with the demand. Wait times stretched to about 40 minutes for a single sandwich. The bagels are definitely worth a try, but a more efficient system would make the experience much more enjoyable. read more

Such a delicious new bagel spot! The lines can appear daunting but I would say it is worth the wait! It moved much quicker than anticipated and the bagels or so fluffy and delicious. We left with breakfast sandwiches and a half dozen bagels to enjoy throughout the week. Seating is limited so would recommend grabbing your food to go! With it being on the newer side felt like they still had some kinks to work through but can't wait to come back! This is the bagel place I have been waiting for! read more

Luca Bagel does not disappoint! I went here around 12:30 on a Sunday, and it was not nearly as busy as I expected! I waited around ten or fifteen minutes in line behind a couple of big groups, and ten minutes for my lox bagel to come out. They were out of a few bagel varieties by the time that I got there, but the employee was helpful to suggest substitutions for bagels! This bagel was the right amount of a crisp, toasted exterior, with a soft, chewy inside. The portion of lox was very generous, and I wasn't overwhelmed with the amount of cream cheese. I will definitely be back to try the sourdough bagels and some of their other schmears another day! I also appreciated that there was a parking lot attached to the building. read more

Tried at the OP farmers market! You can order ahead on their website by fri @ 11pm and pick up there or wait in line but their line gets pretty long. The Asiago bagel was very crunchy with a nice inside and plenty of cream cheese. I tried the pumpernickel which tasted just like a plain and it was really good. I love the amount of cream cheese they give. The only downside is the wait time and they don't have the most efficient system for how popular they are. Finally! This is everything I could ever want in a bagel sandwich. I went during the soft launch and waited in line for about an hour. Even with how busy it was, the staff were so friendly and great. From placing my order to receiving my bagels, the wait was about 10 minutes (not bad at all). There is not a ton of seating inside, so taking it to go was the best option for me. I had the #2 and it was so delicious. I did an Asiago bagel and subbed turkey bacon. I was so happy with the proportions, especially how much bacon they used. My friend also liked what she got. Luca Bagel is the newest addition to the Brookside area. When we arrived, the shop was already buzzing with traffic, so we hopped straight into line. Although no one greeted us right away, we're able to place our order within about 8-10 minutes. Here is what we ordered and how I would rate it: *Cheddar Serrano Bagel 5/5: The bagel was pretty huge, fluffy inside, and the amazing smoky flavor from the cheese added with the jalapeños gave it just the right kick! *Scallion smear 5/5: Very creamy with just the right amount of scallions. Not super overpowering, which I LOVE! I'm pretty sure the bagel with just the scallion schmear would've been satisfying on its own, but I added turkey bacon and egg for the full experience. While the add-ons weren't anything extraordinary, they did enhance the bagel and since this is one of Kansas City's first Jersey-style bagel shops (that I know of), I couldn't resist. The wait for our food was around 30-40 minutes. While the ordering process was fairly quick, many customers were waiting on their orders (those who ordered online as well as inside of the store front), which explains the longer pickup time, but it definitely added to the wait time. That said, the bagel paired with my choice of schmear was worth it! The inside of the bagel was perfectly fluffy, the flavors balanced well, and even though there weren't a ton of ingredients packed in, it was absolutely still delicious. Although it was a bit unorganized and the wait was longer than expected, I still think Luca Bagel is a great addition to the neighborhood and to Kansas City area. Worth the wait! The sausage sandwich on Cheddar Serrano is fantastic. Maybe if they get less popular it could be a place to get a quick bite, but right now plan to bring a friend and have a conversation while you wait in line. read more

This Jersey Jew approves of these bagels! Kansas City has sorely needed this place. The sourdough rosemary & salt bagel was PERFECTLY light with a hint of crispness and worked perfectly for the open faced lox & schmear sammie. My husband's hot pastrami sandwich on the pumpernickel everything bagel was delicious. Before leaving, I went back to the counter and ordered more treats to go. The staff is so courteous and seems happy to be there. read more
