    Guinea Hen
    Sam B.

Dined here recently with our family. The menu offerings are eclectic and different than other Italian establishments in the Lancaster area. The good: The food was very delicious. We enjoyed our wine, olive appetizer and entrees. I got the ravioli and my wife enjoyed the guinea hen dish. The portions here are not large, so it's good to get a few dishes. The ambience in the side dining room was nice and much easier to converse in than the louder, main room. Our server was very knowledgeable and excited about the menu. The not so good: The wait between our appetizers and entrees was nearly an hour. We had another event to get to and were somewhat pressed for time.

Bronzino prepared in a flatten manner.

Our party of six enjoyed sitting in the quieter dining room rather than the main room. Our server was terrific. Did a great job explaining a few complex specials. Drinks and starters came out very quickly. We had a little bit of a wait for our entrees which is why I've given 4 rather than 5 stars. My branzino was terrific and a very large portion. Some of the other entrees seemed a little small. Great place to try if you're in Lancaster.

This came highly recommended and we weren't surprised to see it was difficult to get a reservation. Randomly scored an early dinner reservation the next day for a table for 6. The restaurant was bustling at the bar and main dining room. Our table was in the quieter side room so it was less noisy and easy to converse. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Our bread and drink orders arrived quickly. Everyone loved their pasta choices. Would definitely return on our next visit to the area.

Coming from an Italian food hotspot I'm always curious how Italian is other places. I stopped in for dinner on a business trip and was seated at the bar as it was a busy Sunday night. The bartender was attentive and helpful! I ordered the Sunday meatballs and they were very flavorful but I'd say a little over cooked. I also got a hot dessert cocktail which finished the meal perfectly!

Vibes here were immaculate. I'm so sorry I can't quite remember the name of our server but he was one of the bartenders ! He was super sweet and kind and was very helpful in picking what we wanted to eat / was very excited about our selections for us. Upon sitting at the bar, you could tell that a lot of people came back as regulars because of him. This guy was super friendly (and had really awesome tattoos) and it showed in the way customers loved him too. Aside from the service and atmosphere, the food was delicious. Who knew cabbage and flatbread could taste the way it did?? The entrees we got were perfectly seasoned as well. We chose LUCA on a whim and honestly, great choice. If I'm ever back in Lancaster, I'd come back here FOR SURE

Food, Service and Ambiance were 15/10!!! Very Enjoyable. I would recommend the chefs table for the view of the kitchen while they cook your meal. It was truly visually satisfying!

Luca was a very good experience. It's one of Lancaster's top five restaurants and I could see why. If you don't have a reservation, get ready to wait a long time to be seated. There is a small parking lot, adjacent to the restaurant, but there is plenty of street parking, as well. The restaurant has very nice decor, is always fully committed, and has a limited menu. However, that menu has items that'll make your meal memorable and delicious. We started with the Stracciatella small plate (creamy mozzarella cheese, braised artichokes alla romana, herb sauce, foccacia bread). This dish was so good. The creaminess of the cheese enveloped every forkful of artichoke and this starter was an excellent choice. Our entrees were, as follows: Swordfish (wood-grilled and glazed, salsify butter sauce, young kale, green garlic, grilled and marinated mustard greens, smoked ramp agrodolce). I cannot commend this dish enough. You didn't need a knife, it contained the optimum amount of saltiness, I enjoyed every bite, and didn't want it to end. It was also my first time ordering swordfish. The Luca Chicken (brined and wood oven-roasted natural chicken, wood-grillef broccolini, rosso di milano onion, wilted dandelion greens, n'duja glaze). The chicken contained A LOT of meat, was perfectly seasoned , and was more enjoyable consumed by hand, in order to get every bit of meat off of the bones. The service was impeccable and we appreciated our Server, Angelina's, recommendations. If you're in Lancaster, please make plans to enjoy a meal at Luca.

After hearing a few people rave about this place, my husband and I decided to come here for date night. We made reservations as we figured it would be busy on a Sunday night. We were greeted by the friendly hostess and that's where the night went downhill. We were sat in the room off to the left, which was not overly warm and welcoming. It was awkwardly quiet and the tables were too close together so having a conversation was like having one with everyone else. The server took quite some time to get to us and our drinks took a bit as well. We started off with the oysters which were fantastic. Those should def never leave the menu. I couldn't wait to order the lobster special but she said they sold out of it the day before. I was really bummed bc my options are super limited here. My husband said the meatballs were okay but the texture of his polenta was super gritty and lacked flavor. I got the chicken entree and it was dry and it just felt like an incomplete dish.

Do not miss this place on your delicious dining list! Luca is like coming home to Nonna's for authentic delicate and delicious flavors of Italy! We were seated at the chef's table and actually got a show with our dinner. It was a chilly night, & the multiple blazing fires in the pit and oven warmed us too. We had the focaccia bread and bufalo mozzarella with thin sliced prosciutto and it was magnificent! Then my wife had the fresh homemade pasta ravioli and I had the gnocchi with mushroom sauce and asked them to add a few slices of prosciutto for a protein. It also had roasted pumpkin seeds crushed on top. For dessert, we shared the Tiramisu and it certainly didn't disappoint! It was excellent and moist with a grated cocoa smothering the whole top surface. It was wonderful ambiance for an exquisite meal. If you love real Italian, you must try this, you'll love it!

What a great vibrant place to go to for great food, friendly staff and a very hip, swank atmosphere. You'll see everything from formal wear to casual blue jeans. Prices are comparable to other high end restaurants so it's worth a visit if you're in the mood to have some fantastic food and fun times with friends. It's not a place for an intimate first date due to it being in probably an old warehouse so you get a lot of echoing from other patrons so it can get pretty loud. Drinks are plentiful & flavorful. They even make their own wine. The Apples to Apples is a seasonal drink & of course tastes like ummm apples. Very tasty & puts you in the holiday spirit. Small plates I went with the crispy potatoes which were phenomenal and the rosemary makes these potatoes sing. We also tried the smoked squash which was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the smoke which compliments the squash perfectly. For my main, I picked the gnocchi with mushrooms. The only thing I didn't enjoy about the dish was that it ended. I could have easily ate another plate of these perfectly prepared gnocchi and the brown sauce left me wanting to lick my plate clean (no I did not lick my plate, but I definitely wanted to). Staff are super friendly & helped us select just the right meal & drink. Would highly recommend Luca to anyone looking to have a great time with some friends & have some absolutely amazing and delicious food & drinks while doing it.

Fancier menu with more authentic Italian variety. If you're looking for pizza for your kids. This ain't it. We will report that our kids were very unimpressed, but they have terrible taste. Us adults truly enjoyed our meal, even though it was a little buzzing in here. They were very kind in squeezing us in without reservations, so if you are thinking of simply dropping in, be sure to try to reserve in advance.

When we were seated, we were given the prix fixe food menu but never provided with a drink menu. We were served water, but our waitress didn't ask if we'd like cocktails, wine, or any featured Valentine's drinks. For a special occasion dinner, that felt like a major oversight. The bigger issue, though, was the food. Several courses were noticeably undercooked and difficult to enjoy. The carrot salad had hard, undercooked carrots and a very bitter sauce that overwhelmed the dish. The grilled Badger Flame beets were also undercooked and had an unpleasant flavor. The beet risotto was firm and lacked the creamy consistency you expect from a properly prepared risotto. The halibut tasted overly fishy and seemed undercooked in the center. For $75 per person on Valentine's Day, we expected a polished, thoughtfully executed experience. Instead, the meal felt poorly prepared and not worth the price. It was an unsatisfying way to spend what should have been a special evening. The ambiance was very nice but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired.

From the outside it's extremely unassuming... but it's well labeled, so you can be confident you're in the right place. The inside looks as you'd like: spacious, clean, room to relax. As I was sitting inside, casually doing a tasting, I completely forgot we were in a strip mall. Well-done! An added bonus of the location: there are a LOT of good food choices nearby! The prices. Yowza! I did like some of the wines, but not enough to pay for the bottle (~$40). But I enjoyed a tasting ($10 for 4 tastings) and also ordered an extra glass of wine. They have 2 fixed tasting menus to choose from. I asked to switch out one of the wines for a different one, and that wasn't a problem at all. The customer service was nice. The woman was friendly and attentive, and not obtrusive or pushy. She was there when I wanted her, but was also content to let me sit, relax, and enjoy the wine. I love the ambience. It's in a strip mall, but is quite large and nice inside with artwork and wine themed displays. It just seems like they are incredibly overwhelmed when we come in. I don't know if they need more staff or what. I'm going to focus more on the most recent visit. I called to make reservations (you are supposed to) and the woman who was working seemed shocked that I wanted to make same day reservations. However, she agreed. We went in and there was some sort of loud group in one of the rooms. At first she seemed very attentive to us. However, the amount of wine poured for the tastings this time was so small and that was shocking. When you get the local flavor deal, apparently you are supposed to get bigger pours (this is what she ended up telling us and what we've been told before) You also get goat cheese, crackers, etc. which are quite nice. Also, really, their wine isn't great. It's more for the experience it took us this many times to really realize it. Anyways, after the first second tasting, our server vanished for about 20ish minutes. She finally came back to give us our 3rd tasting (you get 4) and that was it for at least another 20ish minutes. All in all we spent about an hour and a half and that was because of all the wait times. Another couple came in and sat at the bar who didn't have the deal; it was obvious they were worth the attention more than us local flavor people. I really advise them to stop doing this deal. They get overwhelmed easily and I ended up feeling like I was hounding them to serve us. I wanted a glass of wine (an actual glass at the end) and my wife had to go up to the woman to ask for one for me. It was over 13.00. Not worth it... I'd rather go get a nice cocktail some place for that price. Inevitably, The local flavor deal is not even that great of a deal, particularly when you feel like you are being put on the back burner in favor of other customers. We won't be going back.

The murder mystery itself was the highlight, the storyline was engaging, and the actors were clearly well-trained in improv and very kind. Murder Mystery: 8/10 The room was fairly standard, what you'd expect in an old-timey house. No TV or modern extras, but there were plenty of charging outlets, which was appreciated. Room: 7/10 The food during the stay was incredibly disappointing. Most of it felt like reheated microwave meals. Breakfast included eggs, bacon (very thin, broken pieces), cubed potatoes that were oddly watery, ham slices, stale danishes, cereal cups, and a parfait option that had run out by our 9am time slot. Dinner was similar in quality. I chose the cheese ravioli, but despite being second in line, it was cold. The same watery potatoes from breakfast were served again, along with green beans. The only highlight was the coffee, which was good. Food: 2/10 Unfortunately, the parking situation is very poor. There are only 5-6 spots directly outside and a few more up the hill behind the carriage house. I was dropped off at check-in and informed staff that my boyfriend would be arriving late. I was assured there would be parking available and that staff would be present 24/7 to assist him. However, I woke up to a call from him saying he couldn't find parking. I went downstairs to get help, but no staff could be found. Not wanting to disturb other guests, I eventually gave up, and he had to park on the street in the neighborhood on top of the hill overnight. At breakfast, we were briefly told about additional parking behind the carriage house, but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue from the night before, nor any attempt to make it right. Parking: 1/10 The staff overall seemed inexperienced and, at times, unprofessional. While I empathize with younger staff members, there were several uncomfortable moments--such as hearing an employee joke about "killing" another staff member over a small mistake, and staff walking away mid-conversation while we were trying to ask follow-up questions. Staff: 4/10 Overall, there were some enjoyable elements, especially the murder mystery, but the experience didn't quite match the price point. With a few key improvements, this could be a much more worthwhile stay.

They stay true to their name with their decor. They were coffin shaped shelves, gothic/satanic themed wallpaper. It's all very well done. Very unique! One of the staff members came over to tell us that their beer and spirits are all from PA. This was music to our ears! We ordered a local IPA. We shared the Brussels Caesar salad. It had crispy brussels sprouts and arugula. Topped homemade crouton. Dusted with Parmesan. It was delicious! Loved this spot! Will go back the next time we're in town!

Coffin Bar is one of the more distinctive brunch spots in Lancaster, and it works better in…read moredaylight than I expected. The vibe leans goth, with a definite metal/punk edge rather than a tightly curated "theme bar" look. It's not as uniformly designed as the name might suggest, but it is interesting and cohesive enough to feel intentional. During brunch, the space is well-lit, and they keep the heavy metal/thrash/punk soundtrack going at a very low volume, exactly the right choice. It supports the aesthetic without turning brunch into a performance. The food is the reason to come. The menu is built around the seven deadly sins (Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, etc.), and everything we tried was outstanding. Between the two of us we had Lust and Gluttony, and both were excellent, high quality, well-executed, and clearly made with care. Service was solid: efficient, reasonably quick, and professional. Not overly chatty, but attentive enough that you don't feel ignored. Drinks were fine. The mimosa and Bloody Mary were exactly what you'd expect: competent and enjoyable, nothing gimmicky. Logistics are also manageable for a downtown spot. Parking exists in the area, including garages nearby, and it's a comfortable walk if you're already in the city center. Overall: a fun, slightly offbeat atmosphere paired with genuinely great brunch food. If you like a darker aesthetic but still want a bright, relaxed daytime meal, Coffin Bar is an easy recommendation.
