Cheesesteak
Stacy A.

The menu is very limited, and if you are not in the mood for fried food, go somewhere else! I was happily surprised by how good the chicken was here, thinly pounded, very flavorful, and crispy. The customer service was also really great here, especially for a fast casual spot.

Big portions, tasty ribeye, and all the sweet or spicy peppers you can dream of. Their fries are also really good, each one the right amount of crispy.

Pats vs Genos is the stereotypical Philly cheesesteak debate, but Oh Brother should be a part of the conversation. With a location on Market Street in Old City and on Broad Street near Temple, Oh Brother is really making its mark on the Philly cheesesteak scene. Chopped ribeye on seeded bread with your choice of cheese and inclusion of onions. Beyond cheesesteaks, they have a variety of burgers, fries, shakes and bar style appetizers.Their truffle fries are my absolute fave. For the Market Street location, it's fairly large with ample seating. You can order at the counter and the waitstaff will run your food out once's it's ready. They were super helpful in deciding what would be the right fit for our group and honest when it comes to sizing and value.

Delicious food and pretty quick service. We got there around noon on a Saturday and the line was short. It got busier the longer we stayed. Decent amount of indoor seating and some outdoor seating too. Free refills on soda and seltzer!

I stopped by Oh Brother Philly while in town for the Norfolk State vs. Delaware State football game at Lincoln Financial Field and decided to grab a cheesesteak and fries. Honestly, I really enjoyed it. The cheesesteak was nice and cheesy, and the fries were just as solid. Was it the best cheesesteak I've ever had? Maybe not, but it was still quite delicious and definitely hit the spot. After my meal, I recommended it to my friends who came by later, and they enjoyed it too. Always a good sign when your food suggestion lands well. The place has a nice, casual vibe and I was able to get my food pretty quickly. I can't quite put my finger on why it's not a perfect 5 for me. If I knew how to give it a 4.5-stars, I would certainly do so. All in all I'd happily recommend this place to anyone visiting Philly or craving a solid cheesesteak in the area.

Out of the three cheesesteaks that are on market street this is the best one. The French onion cheesesteak and cheese whiz are good. The service was pretty bad for after a lunch rush on a Friday afternoon. They have some cool murals and good decorations inside. Music was blasting as well so it was hard to order at the front.

Stopped in while doing some historical site visits. We were looking for options for a larger group and this fit the bill. Both my oldest and myself opted for the Truffle Cheesesteak. It was huge and delicious!!! Lots of great flavors that all went together. My youngest did the chicken tenders and fries. She liked the tenders and fries. The fries were extra crispy. They were good, but I am not an extra crispy fry fan. The location is clean and decorated with some Philly items on the wall. Seating can be at a premium, but tables do rotate out since the food is served pretty quickly. All of the staff was friendly and helpful with ordering and delivering food to the table.

Stopped in for a late night cheesesteak and was not disappointed. I asked for a cheese steak with cooper sharp cheese and fried onions on the side. The guy behind the counter asked if I wanted the sandwich cut in half and I indicated yes. It came out without onions on the side and not sliced. He immediately had it returned and corrected with the most pleasant attitude. We also ordered jalapeño poppers. Both the jalapeño poppers and cheesesteak were phenomenal. The hoagie roll was fresh, the meat to bread ratio was perfect, and the cheese was gooey. My boyfriend said, "I could eat another one right now." The restaurant has a good amount of seating and tons of Philly decor along with a few signed Eagles jerseys. I'd highly recommend stopping in, if you're in Old city.

We were wandering around old Town and I really wanted to try a real cheesesteak. We wandered up on "Oh Brother" and oh brother it was delicious. I asked the guy at the counter what he suggests for my first Philly, Philly. He suggested I have "whiz" on it (what the heck is "whiz"?). It was delicious! The seasoned fries are wonderful. The meat was tender. The whole experience was great. Nice casual place. Quick service and yummy food. I completely suggest!

Oh Brother - best cheesesteak I've have, bar none. I cannot emphasize how tasty they were. We got the French Onion & Ribeye Phillys, and were overwhelmed. The steak was amble, cheese was generous, and flavor - outstanding. Staff was incredibly helpful & kind & went out of their way to serve. The restaurant was counter order with a spacious & clean sitting area. Loved this place & would go back to Philly just for them.

Orignal Steak Philly with White American cheese and Provolone, fries with Old Bay seasoning!!

Disclaimer: This visit was back in August 2024 -- I forgot to post a review at the time but didn't want to miss the chance to share this great experience! While working in Philly, a coworker discovered this spot on social media, so we decided to check it out. Parking was easy -- we found a spot right in front of the restaurant, which was a nice plus. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. We mentioned it was our first time, and the employee at the register took the time to walk us through the most popular menu items -- he was absolutely fantastic and made us feel welcome. The restaurant had plenty of seating with tables, which made it easy for us to sit and enjoy our meal. I ordered the original steak Philly with both white American cheese and provolone, along with a side of fries topped with Old Bay seasoning. OMG -- the food was incredible! The sandwich was hands down the best Philly I've ever had. And the fries? I'd never seen a place offer Old Bay fries, but I'm so glad I tried them -- they were packed with flavor and paired perfectly with the sandwich. Everything was spot-on, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town. Highly recommend!

Bbq deluxe brisket sandwich ...I ordered my bbq sauce on the side but you can have it on the sandwich also.

I let my son order and he chose "The Classic" for us to try. Since we were having dinner in a couple of hours, we decided to share. It is pricey for the size. I'm used to having it a footlong at most other places and these are more like half the size. After placing our order on the kiosk, it was ready within minutes. The Classic consists of prime rib, Cooper sharp cheese, buttery steakhouse seasoning with sautéed onions all held intact by this sesame hoagie. OMG!!! My son and I loved it!! I'm salivating as I am writing this review. The Cooper sharp cheese just melts everything together. You can tastes the high quality cuts in their meats. It is now in my top #3. I will definitely be returning to try their other popular creations. Seating is limited. My one little complaint is that I wish they would wipe the tables and barstools down. It was sticky and dirty. Service is excellent even with the soccer match crowds.

As for the food, the Philly cheesesteak was massive, but tasted just okay. It seemed quite heavy on the bread. I think my husband maybe ordered wrong as he should've gotten the cheese whiz or maybe gotten the one with peppers. We've definitely had better cheesesteaks. The waffle fries were fries: tasty and delicious. My MIL's caprese salad was interesting. It was atop a bed of greens which was unexpected. It was also $15 which seemed a little extravagant for what it was. Overall, it was a decent meal and tasty. John's Roast Pork is legendary in Philly - it's been around for decades - 96 years to be exact! I'd been there once before many years ago (couldn't remember anything about it) and thought it was time for a revisit. I got the large Roast Pork sandwich - you can see from the attached picture the 'preferred toppings' (Dad's Way) are: Mustard Raw onions Hot seeded pepper American cheese I had only the Mild Provolone cheese on mine - no mustard, raw onions or seeded pepper. I would have had cooked (caramelized) onions - but they had only raw...and American cheese was not a choice for me (I was raised on it). The pork is supposed to be 'slow roasted (7 hours) pork shoulder (pork butt)' - and it may very well be, but it reminds me of the meat that's carved off the large vertical rotisseries for gyros. It doesn't look that appealing - it's like a large sub sandwich. The pork was soft, tender and seasoned well - the roll was very good - John's had been getting its bread from Carangi Bakery. However, the bakery closed due to a fire so I'm not sure where the bread is from, unless it reopened. I finally satisfied my curiosity about John's and went to see what the sandwich was like. While it probably ranks as one of the better 'pork/steak' sandwiches in Philly, I just couldn't get excited about it.

I live an hour away from Verona so when I heard this place was only a 15 min drive away from our hike, I knew I had to stop by. The well known Verona's did not disappoint. Unique to this pizzeria, the pizzas AND cheesesteaks are award winning. The wife and I ordered one of each. When we pulled up, this place was packed for 12PM. It hustlin and busslin! I ordered at the desk and waited maybe 25 mins (not bad at all for ordering in the spot and with the place being busy). Pizza: we ordered the "Hot Honey" at $27. We attacked this thing within 2 minutes of coming out the oven. Incredible dough with depth and texture. Perfect balance of sweet (sauce/honey) and savory (pepperonis/grated parm). Topped with fresh basil and hot honey. I wished there was more hot honey but to each their own. Elite pizza!! I highly recommend Cheesesteak ($18): we ordered it with fried onions and Cooper Sharp. Delicious bread, I'm assuming it's home made and if it's not it's definitely high quality bread. Tender ribeye steak chopped and mixed beautifully with the cheese and onions. Meaty sandwich for sure. I prefer my cheesesteaks a bit more cheesier but I was a happy camper as was my wife. All in all, this joint is pumping out top tier "pizzeria food". The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.
