I've been buying breakfast tacos from those fine ladies for over 15 years since they were down the tunnels closer to the old McDonald's, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. They've got a solid selection of flavors for your munching experience and at one point they used to have fresh, squeezed orange juice. If you love hot salsa, you have to ask them for the "ghost pepper" bright orange one that isn't really on the menu because most people can't really take the heat. haha! read more

Taco spot in the tunnels; it is located in an older part of the tunnels and is a no frills, get your food and go, type of spot. Service is kind of like Brothers tacos, food service line. Their chicharron tacos are pretty solid, and their others are average. Not the greatest but a solid breakfast spot in the tunnels. read more

On one hand I wish I looked at the location before ordering lunch one day and on the other, I'm so glad I didn't. Working from home and wanted some tacos. All I paid attention to was the awesome reviews. What I didn't realize is this location is on the lower level of an office building downtown. It really seems to be a place to grab lunch if you work nearby. Not necessarily if you have to come from home. Luckily, traffic isn't bad these days so I had no trouble finding parking immediately across the street to run in and grab my order. Good is an understatement. These tacos were pricey but awesome! I got 2 classic tacos and one Alambre which comes with grilled onions, green peppers and mushrooms. The classic was delish but the Alambre was better and definitely had more flavor. The breakfast tacos here are FIRE. They have a wide range of different fillings (I always opt for the spicy chorizo potato with bacon eggs or spicy chorizo potato with chorizo) that include some more authentic Mexican options, like machacado and nopales. There's also plenty of different salsas to choose from and fill up yourself over a spectrum of spice (my personal go-to is the Mean Green). My FAVORITE thing about Luchi and Joey's is their fresh, warm, house-made tortillas. When I brought my Guatemalan friend here for the first time, he said these tortillas were only second-best to the homemade ones his grandmother makes. Pretty cheap prices and an incredibly sweet staff as well. Would definitely recommend anyone working downtown to hit up in the tunnels for a hearty and authentic breakfast. read more

Delicious tacos. A bit pricey, but good food. There are some reviews in this Yelp business profile that belong to the food truck version of L&Js, but this review is for the tunnel location. It normally takes some time for new tunnel lunch businesses to setup. This wasn't the case for L&Js. One day we noticed Post Oak Grill had closed this location, and a few days later L&Js moved in. L&Js appears to be a business that started as a food truck. The tacos are very tasty. Although two tacos will set you back about 8 bucks, I did receive a fair amount of meat with the beef/pork combination taco (Chilango). On my last visit, I tried the grilled chicken taco salad. It was good. Not as watery as the chicken ranchero taco salad I normally get from Ninfa Express, but very tasty. I also liked the green hot sauce that was included. My buddy Vik had the two fish taco special with two sides and a drink for $11. He did tell me that he did not receive much meat. I do like the fish and mango, coleslaw and chipotle mayo combination in the fish tacos. Definitely the best fish tacos I have had downtown. Maine Root sodas offered on tap. Tricky place to find! But totally worth it. We got 4 of their breakfast tacos, one of them in a gordita, 2 tamales (one chicken and green salsa one and a strawberry one). Omg The chicken tamal was amazing! So flavorful, and the pieces of chicken were so juicy, the flavor of corn and the savory filling were the perfect combination. My chorizo and potato taco was good, just a bit on the salty side. The Norteño in a gordita was spectacular, the meat tasted so good, not to mention the beans and eggs. One of those alone could be a meal. The people who work there are very nice too, they gave us all their different salsas to try. Fast service, and awesome prices. Definitely recommend this place! Just head to the tunnel food court; what a find for newcomers like us! read more

The Pirata taco is one of the best tacos I've ever had. Don't bother with the Classic taco. It's not bad but nothing special. Breakfast tacos are ok. I've had a bacon, egg, and bean taco and fajita,egg and bean both on a corn tortilla. The corn tortillas are good. They taste homemade. You don't get much bacon in your taco since the bacon is chopped up into the eggs ahead of time. The beef fajita was pretty tasty. If you order online for breakfast you better go with Ritual instead of ordering from the website. My co-workers and I did a group order from the website and it was a disaster. The staff couldn't find the order when I went to pick it up. Luckily a manager arrived. I had to show her the order receipt so that they could make the tacos. The morning staff seems inexperienced and unorganized. read more

Not sure why others are giving more than 1 star guess they never have had good Mexican food. The cashier is friendly but that's as good as it gets. Ordered beef fajitas nachos and the meat tasted like it was a week old; dry and tasteless. The cheese sauces was runny and salty, the lettuce was wilted, the pico de gallo was basically just onion. I really like Luchi & Joey's. I've eaten there half a dozen times, and have found a new favorite every time I've eaten there. I see the address is on Main St., but the restaurant I've eaten at is on Memorial at Kirkwood. I have had most of their tacos. They are all very good, and some of them are truly excellent. My favorites are the pulled pork taco and the chipotle chicken taco. The owners (Luchi and Joey) have been in the store every time I've eaten there, and they are very nice people. I had a friend get me a chorizo, pico, and fresh jalapeno taco from here. The flour tortilla tastes like it was made there as opposed to being store bought (dont know if that is true or not), but it was dang tasty. The chorizo did not have a lot of zing to it, but the pico accented it nicely along with the fresh jalapenos. If you work in that part of the tunnel Id say hit it up. read more
