Amazing First Visit, Disappointing Second One! Be careful when ordering!…read more I heard so many great things about the infamous churrasco at this restaurant, so I made the trip and ordered it. My first visit (May 16th) was outstanding! The churrasco was a decent, juicy, and tender NY Strip Steak with perfect thickness, served over yuca fries, sweet plantains, and potatoes. The chimichurri on the side wasn't the authentic Argentinian recipe, but it was still good. I ordered it medium rare, exactly how I like it, and it was amazing, tasty, and delicious. (See photo #1.) Today (June 19th), I decided to stop by again--but it was a huge disappointment. The churrasco I received didn't taste like NY Strip Steak and tasted like the regular cheap meat you get when you go to a bad cheap Mexican restaurant and order the famous carne asada plate. It wasn't cooked to the medium temperature I ordered. The cut was extremely thin, almost like Carne Asada or Chuck Roast (the kind used for their $9.99 corrientazo or the meat they served on the "Bandeja Paisa plate" . It was dried, rubbery, and had no taste whatsoever. I mentioned the issue to the waiter and even showed him the meat while asking for the bill. He told me, "I'm sorry, today was your unlucky day , I will let them know"?. This is Unacceptable. A good restaurant management should approach the customer and replace the meal or not even charging ! He acknowledged it was completely wrong when he saw the meat and apologized sincerely. That honesty was appreciated, but it's stories like this that make a restaurant lose its reputation and push customers away. In my case, I'm now afraid to come back and waste my money. The tacos are amazing, but what keeps me coming back are the incredible aguas frescas--always refreshing and packed with flavor. They also have a huge selection of Mexican desserts and snacks that are hard to find elsewhere, so every visit feels like a little adventure. One of my favorite things is the mole enchiladas. They have a big TV playing while you eat, making it a great place to hang out, and the girls behind the counter are always so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely make you feel like family. Then I found their what appears to be cheaply ai menu of meat choices and no where does it mention the increase in price for certain meats. I also wanted to add beans to my torta and when I requested it they didnt say anything until after I sat down the cashier called me over to charge me for it. Of course I dont mind paying for the addition but I wish it couldve just been all paid at once. Indifferent cleanliness - The restrooms (which you cannot use unless you're a customer and even then they act like they are doing YOU a favor) aren't anything close to pristine. The tables are only slightly better. 5. Refills - They watch the machine like a hawk so if you plan on refilling, make certain that they know what you're doing. But no, something about the neighborhood, the strip mall in which it sits - something, told me they were telling the truth. Indeed they were. After I sat down, a pretty server bounced pneumatically my way with a menu. And the menu is the real deal. I came in for a snack only; I was still on the clock at work, in fact. I apologized for not ordering a full meal. I was forgiven immediately with a smile. My order consisted of a single lamb barbacoa taco and a cup of consome. The sweet young lady delivered a full caddy of accoutrement. It had a red salsa, earthy with dried chilis and baking spices. It had a green salsa, sour with lime and tomatillo. The taco arrived. The tortilla, freshly made. The lamb itself was slightly overcooked, not as unctuous as it could have been. What the lamb shoulder in my taco lacked, the bowl of lamb consome made up for. So lamby. So perfect. And in it, they put chickpeas. Chickpeas, because central Mexico has received its share of immigration from the Arab world. I knew food from the state of Pueblo has an Arab influence, but now, Barbacoa Hidalguense has shown me that this exists also in Hidalgo. Next time I'll order more food.

We went for the first time, and will absolutely be back. The food itself was fully authentic and delicious! It all looked as good as it tasted, it came fairly quickly, and the service was great. The ambiance was very quaint and "homey". It felt like a true family owned business, and they served everything up beautifully, and with pride. Also: Easily the best barbacoa we've had in vegas! We've tried many different places for barbacoa since moving here to vegas, and this was the most delicious we've had by a mile.
