Lucid Winery is quickly becoming one of my favorite new spots to relax and unwind in Downtown Sacramento. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a great deal of passion and craftsmanship goes into every bottle. Owner Kevin carefully crafts each of the winery's offerings, and for us, it was love at first sip. We each chose our own tasting flights, and despite sampling different wines, we both ended up falling in love with the Wanderlust. It was so good that my date purchased two bottles to take home. What stood out most was how distinct each wine was. Every pour had its own unique aroma, flavor profile, and character, making the tasting experience both interesting and enjoyable. Lucid Winery also hosts rotating food vendors and local farmers market vendors on select Sundays, which adds another layer of charm to the experience and makes it a great place to spend an afternoon. A special shoutout goes to Amanda, who was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain each wine, share the story behind the winery, and answer our questions with enthusiasm and knowledge. Her hospitality truly elevated the experience and made our visit a memorable one. Today I accidentally walked into Lucid Winery. I didn't even know it existed. I just saw "winery," saw casks, and my feet made the executive decision before my brain finished the meeting. There was only one person working there: Julian. And Julian was exactly the kind of person who turns a random doorway into a good memory. I took a video of him talking about kindness, why he likes making people happy, and why serving people makes him happy too. That matters. You can feel when someone is just doing a job, and you can feel when someone is adding light to the room on purpose. Lucid already had the wine, the casks, the atmosphere, the charm -- but Julian gave it the thing you can't fake: heart. I walked in by accident. Went to this winery for a little witchy craft fair and I was honestly blown away by how stinking cute this place is. The craft fair itself was great and everyone there was so nice, but the winery is what really got me. I already know I need to come back with friends. The wine selection looked amazing and they have all kinds of snacks, games, and different areas to sit and just vibe. The decor was everything. Bookshelves filled with old timey books, really cool lighting, just a whole mood. I didn't love the wine I picked, but that one is on me since I skipped doing a tasting first. Lesson learned. I've seen the Lucid Winery stand at the Midtown Farmer's Market so I have always wanted to see the actual location. I was told they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, but yesterday for some reason they didn't have any live music, bummer. Otherwise Lucid is cool, it's very open and light. With its interested open floor plan layout you forget that you're on R St. in Midtown. They serve up some delicious whites and rosè - my two favorite wines! My girl took me here for a late Valentine's Day activity which I thought was a painting class ... but plot twist it turned out to be a sushi-making class! I was really surprised!!! While we were waiting to get started, we grabbed some drinks. I'm not a big drinker and didn't really know what I wanted, but the cashier (who might've been the owner) came through clutch. He asked what flavors I liked and offered to freestyle a mocktail and let me tell you, he did NOT miss. I mentioned vanilla, pineapple, maybe some orange, and he created something smooth and amazing. My girl's drink was just as good too. Big shoutout to him for that. The vibe in this place is really nice super welcoming staff, chill atmosphere, and I liked the aesthetic with the drink crates around the space. It feels like a great spot for date night or even a small group hangout. Now let's talk about the class... Like I said, I thought we were painting but it turned into a sushi-making experience with about 6 other couples. It ended up being a really fun, interactive, and unique date activity. The instructor was super friendly, helpful, and made it feel like a real couples experience, which I appreciated. That said, there were a couple things that could be improved. Sushi-making can get messy, and the hand-cleaning setup wasn't the best cups of water which honestly made it messier than it needed to be. We actually had to go to the restroom to clean up our hands a few times. Also, a heads-up: the class was advertised with salmon, but we ended up using chicken instead. I've never had chicken sushi before, and it felt a little misleading. It would've been better if that was communicated upfront. But overall? I had an amazing time. The wine was amazing and the staff were great. It was a creative, fun, and memorable date night experience and my girl definitely did her thing setting this up. Came here for a surprise date night for. A post Valentine's Day cooking class through classpop and can't wait to return. The location itself was a vibe and we will def return in the near future. The venue itself is home to a variety of daily events and we happened to be there when there always a live do spinning RnB and the music was vibeN. The server made us some great drinks. Mr Man got a mocktail with a sour rim and I got a sangria with some type of sparkling grape juice both drinks were tasty. The cooking class with Chef Birdie while a great time I was very unsatisfied she had us making what was supposed to be smoked salmon rolls with chicken instead. Lucid Winery was a really fun find. We visited on Valentine's Day, and they had a live band playing -- a mix of Beatles and contemporary easy-listening rock hits (they even covered an Eagles song). It gave the whole space a relaxed, lively feel without being overwhelming. You could still talk comfortably at your table. The setting itself has a cool industrial warehouse vibe -- stacked barrels, high ceilings, working tanks -- but it still feels warm and inviting. Not stuffy, not overly polished. Just authentic. The wine shop was offering complimentary tastings, and the staff was genuinely helpful and friendly. No pressure, just thoughtful guidance. We tried their Red Blend, Barbera, and Cabernet. All of their wines had a distinctive character -- slightly unusual in a pleasant way, layered and evolving as you sip. We gravitated toward the fruit-forward reds, and the staff helped steer us in that direction. The Cabernet ended up being our favorite, and we bought a bottle. It's a bold choice with noticeable fruit notes up front. There were some subtle undertones I couldn't fully identify -- possibly a touch of vanilla -- adding complexity without overpowering the wine. We didn't try their full lineup, but based on what we tasted, they're doing something a little different -- in a good way. I'd heard so many wonderful things about Lucid Winery, and I finally got the chance to check it out on a Saturday evening. I came to support a friend who was performing for the early show. Knowing that Lucid is dog-friendly, I brought along my two well-behaved pups -- and I'm so glad I did! Lucid is located in the historic R District, with plenty of parking nearby. When we arrived, I loved seeing that they offered both front and back seating areas. There was a special event happening that night, so we sat in the front, which ended up being perfect for our group. While waiting to order, I was drawn to their tempting snack and charcuterie options. (Side note: you are able to bring your own snacks from home if you wish to bring your own charcuterie goodies instead!) I grabbed some rustic bakery crackers and goat cheese to pair with my flight of wines. You can either customize your flight or let the staff choose for you. I decided to customize mine and tried the Rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Barbera, and Zinfandel. I'm usually not big on organic wines, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the Pinot and Barbera -- enough that I bought a bottle of the Barbera to take home! I heard about Lucid through a work colleague, and I'm so glad I stopped in today! This place has all kinds of entertainment; there was even a live band playing, which was awesome. They switch it up throughout the week too, so there's always something different going on. I tried the Wanderlust and it was so good. For my second drink, I went with the Apple Cider. Michael let us sample it with the cucumber sour (I think that's what it was), and wow--it was amazing. Super refreshing. If summer were a drink, this would be it. I even left with a bottle of the Apple Cider. That was a pretty cool experience in itself--I got to cap off my own bottle! I'll definitely be back. The energy here is just incredible. Long waitlist at Fox & Goose, so thought why not grab a drink and place to sit as my date and I awaited our table. The atmosphere is industrial mixed in with apothecary and overall rather eclectic. I wound up getting a mimosa; with pineapple juice, and my date got a hot tea, two drinks plus tip brought the total to $17. We got our drinks and sat down taking in the environment. After the first two sips I realized I didn't really care for the mimosa. The juice mixed in was not cold, the sparkling wine mixed in; though cold, seemed flat with little to no carbonation and overall the sparkling wine they used left an aftertaste I didn't care for. When we left we returned our glasses. I would up giving a more then half full drink back to the barista and was not asked if anything was wrong with the drink. One of the cutest wine bars in Sacramento! Overall customer service was good but Michael was amazing, super helpful! The flights are customizable where you can taste wines, ciders, and other menu items. I should've opted for the dealers choice, but I did enjoy my selections. My favorites were the Hibiscus and Cucumber Rose. They have a few snacks available in case you get hungry. Plenty of books on the shelves and even a table full of board games! Lots of seating in the front and in the back, with a private area located in the middle of the room. Area is very spacious and bathrooms are clean. I attended a paint and sip event here that totally exceeded my expectations and mostly due to this amazing venue. Delicious wine choices, super friendly, helpful, and patient staff. Me and my husband were in the area and we decided to try this place for a wine tasting. I discovered last minute that they had a Groupon deal and I took advantage of that. Staff was not very important to and didn't have much of a pleasant attitude. We did an encounter any issues, but it just seemed like they weren't interested in creating a happy environment for a customers. The establishment itself left a lot to be desired was actually one of the most boring experiences I've ever had, but maybe it would've been different Had I come with more than just my husband. But honestly, I probably won't be back. I did not like the taste of their wines or the limited selections. We were advised to fill out the forms to decide which ones we wanted to taste. There was one that apparently was no longer available, and instead of asking me what I would like to replace it with the Bartender ticket of honor herself to select one for me and didn't let me know until she brought our tastings to us. I thought that was a bit odd and inconsiderate. The Groupon I had was a good deal $60 for wine tasting for two but I don't see myself coming back to this place unfortunately. We were visiting a friend in Sacramento and he was taking us on a walk around town. I mentioned a nice cold glass of wine sounded great, and we happened to be really close to Lucid! I had heard of Lucid before because their winery is featured on the Priority Wine Pass that we have, they are listed as doing 2-for-1 tastings. I walked in and asked if they still do that deal for passholders and they said yes! The inside has an industrial vibe, it is in an old warehouse with super high ceilings and exposed white brick walls. I love their decorations including lots of plants, string lights, and countless books. There is also a big wall of wine barrels that divides the space into the main tasting area and a back space for events. They have a very unique menu for a winery; it consists of Lucid Wines and Lucid Chaos, which are their drinks other than wine (ciders, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks). For tastings, you can choose between small (1.5oz pours) or large (3oz pours) of five drinks. You can choose your own wines, or you can do dealer's choice where they personalize your selection for you. We had Jerome working with us and he was awesome. He asked me some questions about what kind of drinks I like and even what some of my interests are. He then came out with a flight of 5 drinks that matched my taste and preferences perfectly! I got to try the Cucumber Sour (a twist on my fave cocktail--the amaretto sour), "Sauvy B" (sauvignon blanc), Urban Flora (rose wine), Butterbeer (HP inspired cocktail, almost like a port taste), and sangria. I loved all of the drinks I tried! They were all somewhat light, fruity, and flavorful. My husband did the dealer's choice tasting but let Jerome surprise him without providing any details about what drinks he usually likes. There were 2 out of the 5 that he wasn't a huge fan of, but he really enjoyed the other 3! He's a big red wine drinker and loved the Wanderlust red blend and The Sower tannat. He also enjoyed the "VinoChelada", it was a great summer drink with a Tajin rim. We ended up buying 2 bottles: my favorite (Urban Flora rose) and my husband's favorite (Wanderlust red blend). The wines were excellent, the staff were so friendly/helpful, and we had such a fun time hanging out here. It was a big plus that we were able to bring our baby too! They had an author there for a reading in the back. It brought in a fair bit of traffic, but they didn't seem to be buying wine, which is unfortunate for the establishment hosting. In one visit, Lucid quickly became my favorite wine bar in Sacramento. We were already planning to visit a wine bar after brunch, and while perusing a farmers market we happened upon a Lucid booth. In a stroke of serendipity, they were offering half off of tastings and were located only a short walk from my sister's apartment. It is a surprisingly huge location with an extensive library and games for those who want something to do while tipsy. The bathrooms were impeccably clean and I loved the DIY charcuterie board option they have. It allows you to customize exactly what you want, the quantity you want it in, and has some rather affordable options. I picked out some mini brie bites, fig jam and kettle chips, but which served as great accoutrements to our flights. The service was amazing. The bartenders were exceptional. They asked both of us a series of questions and provided us with tastings that really fit both of our profiles. I'm a bit more traditional, so they brought me a red wine tasting and my sister, who is a more adventurous drinker, got a fully custom board that included butter beer and wine-helada, among other things. They were very attentive and informative. Everyone who greated our table was more than happy to explain the unique characteristics and aging processes of the drinks they provided. I really loved that all the bartenders engaged with every table, so it was a clear joint effort in providing a great experience. You can tell everyone enjoys their career here and we were even offered some apple brandy shots that were delicious! Wine, Games, Books, Live Music [Sacramento CA] This is a cool tasting room and event space in the Historic Downtown along Sacramento's R Street. Love the aesthetics of this wine tasting room and event space with wine tanks and barrels. While I don't drink alcohol I came here because my daughter was one of the vendors scheduled on a Friday. Guests enjoyed wine and live music while shopping with local vendors. The owner was very friendly and explained to me and hubby the types of wine offered including a unique range of complex reds, delicious roses, orange-style and sparkling wines. He also has kombuchas and non-alcohol beverages. All wines are organic, vegan, and natural. What's also cool is that he contributes $1 to charity for every bottle sold. The staff provided excellent service to customers and also the vendors. There are bookshelves throughout the spacious tasting room. If they are not filled with wine for sale they are stacked with books... lots of books. This is a casual event space at a great location. Lucid Winery is next to Fox & Goose, and just a short walking distance to many restaurants, Ace of Spades and dessert shops including Salt & Straw and T% boba shop. Review #3081 read more
