A great place that now has patio seating to go with very tasty food. We started with the goat cheese salad which was tasty. We followed that with the crab cakes and they were great. The butternut squash risotto with scallops was tremendous. The seared scallops were moist and tasty on the inside. The texture contrasted nicely with the silky risotto. My wife had the daily fish special which was okay. She was upset she passed on the scallops. So don't make the same mistake. Compared to the rest of the 5 star ratings my 3 star will seem out of the ordinary even though I like Lucio's and believe that it's a solid place to eat. Gravitas next door definitely overshadows the smaller and cozier Lucio's. I love the idea that it's BYOB although I decided not to have wine and saved the alcohol duty for Anvil after the dinner. We started off with the calamari appetizer, and when it arrived it looked just like any other calamari from any other restaurant but at Lucio's they got the batter pretty perfect, it came with a standard marinara, but i was more interested in the butter which had a nice garlic infused taste that added a nice element when mixed with the marinara sauce. For main entrees I went with the rosemary crusted lamb rack which was tasty but nothing jumped out at me which instantly makes the dish unmemorable. She had the sesame crusted ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes which was fantastic, great flavor from the dish as a whole, the mashed potatoes had a subtle wasabi flavor with just the right amount of spice. For dessert we went with the creme brulee with a passion fruit ice cream, the passion fruit ice cream was great and capped off a nice meal from Lucio's. I absolutely love this place! I would give it 4 1/2 stars but apparently the mobile app will only let me do full stars. First of all the place is valet only and free which was nice. We didn't have a reservation so the only seating was outside in the open patio which was fine cause it was covered and had heated lamps everywhere. Plus after a couple of glasses of byob wine it was perfect. I recommend this place for a romantic date. Entree prices range about $30-40 a plate. My seared ahi tuna was melt in your mouth delicious. Husband had the pork loin which was also very tender and good. The only downside was service was a little slow cause there was only one waitress for the whole patio. It is small and intimate setting with fine dining in a relaxed environment. Their covid protocols are up to par and the hostess was sooooooooo good ! From the level of attention to detail you can tell that the chef loves food and wants to share that with the restaurant's patrons. Lucio's menu includes a fantastic wine list ! While visiting Lucio's for the second time, our party of 4 had a great time. The staff kindly allowed us to sit even though we were running 15 minutes behind and past their last sitting time. Lucio's delivers every time. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, the food is awesome and the fact that you can bring your own wine is priceless. I recommend the calamari as a starter, the filet mignon as entree and the creme brûlée as dessert. The wait staff remembered us and we were delighted. Lucio's BYOB is a cozy and intimate place with some of the best service and food I've ever experienced. I feel like it would be the perfect place for a date because it is fairly quiet inside and very romantic, with dim lights and candles on the tables. The food tasted amazing and was presented wonderfully. We ordered the scallops and duck breast, which came out quickly. Bringing our own bottle of wine was a norm here as he immediately brought out 2 glasses and asked if we needed an ice bucket or not, then proceeded to open the bottle and serve the wine. We made this our new date night spot! The food is absolutely incredible. The goat cheese salad has little fried goat cheese bites that make me drool just thinking about them. My lady was having a bad day at work and wanted to go out to eat & drink. She found Lucio's BYOB and Grill on Yelp and this was our first time to dine here. I hoped two bottles was enough to melt her worries away. It gets crowded on weekends so make sure you make reservations. Parking is a bit of an issue so arrive a bit early as well. The walls of this quaint place are adorned with local art, the tables with white linen and tea-light candles are scattered throughout. Crowded but comfy. Our small round table was especially comfy since it was pushed up against the wall. Even though freshly baked bread with whipped butter was served, we had to taste Lucio's signature crab cakes in a citrus vanilla bean cream and mango salsa ($12) for ourselves. The crab cakes were delightful and truly lived up to all the hype. The cakes were at least 80% quality white crab meat with about 10% being the larger back fin lump meat. I can't stand it when there is more bread crumbs, vegetables, and junk fillers than crab meat. The batter is very delicate, almost non-existing. While the citrus cream adds that needed acidity, the vanilla bean flavor in the cream and mango dices compliments the cakes with its sweetness. Very nice indeed. For the main course, my lady ordered the legendary sea scallops and shrimps with butternut squash risotto ($22). Literally, everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The scallops were tender and not rubbery at all. The shrimps were firm and moist. The butternut squash and risotto was spot on. Yes, the reviews on Yelp about this dish are right on. I had the prosciutto wrapped pork chop with duxelle and mashers ($23). I didn't care for braised red cabbage and Corey, the great server, was happy to substitute it with asparagus without a fuss. I could not identify the types of mushrooms in the duxelle since the cream was the primary ingredient of the pork chop stuffing. I suspect some brining of the pork chop since it was so juicy, but not too much because it was not salty at all. The highlight of this dish is how the flavors of the duxelle and pork are tied together with the grilled prosciutto. Make sure you get equal portions of each on your fork to enjoy the depth of the flavor of this dish. To me, this is the type of flavor that provides home cooks the inspiration and aspiration in their kitchen. This is the kind of dish that legends are made from. Bravo!! We got the bread pudding and lavender crème brulee for dessert ($8 each). Both were great, but I must say the lavender crème brulee was a fantastic twist to something so classic. Its crackly crust was so fun to crack open with the backhanded snap of my wrist & spoon to expose the warm, creamy interior. The crème brulee was as smooth as Marvin Gaye. For me, the highlight of the night was when I asked the server who made the lavender crème brulee, he answered that The Executive Chef did. Wanting to be certain about the cooking technique for the desert, I asked the server if he could politely ask for me. I never want to intrude on the chef's time and efforts. Instead, he offered to invite Brett, The Executive Chef, to speak with us at our table since it was closing time. Chefs are like rock stars to me. Long story short, it was very nice to be able to exchange a few words about technique, ideas, & inspiration with an Executive Chef who is very approachable and down to earth. With the BYOB option, $5 cork fee, cozy & warm ambiance, and a menu that reads AND tastes like many of Houston's most prestigious restaurants, the reasonable prices for this caliber of food is why I give Lucio's a solid 5-stars. Love Lucio's. It's not just because the Rosemary Crusted Rack of Lamb is good enough to make your toes curl in pleasure. Or that their crab cakes are served with this amazing mango salsa that somehow makes sense with seafood. And it's not even just because their roasted duck breast is intensely moist and flavorful with a balsamic glaze. Why then, for the 5 stars? Lucio's serves up amazing food, but feels like home. There's no pretension here. Always armed with smiles and prompt service, the staff also works well together - if my server is a bit caught up, there's no drop in service as one of the other waiters quickly helps out. Business is almost always bustling, but not once have I ever felt left out in the cold or annoyed. Lucio's could easily be my second family... great food, nice people, and a homey environment. Love that it is BYOB. I loved that when it was Annabelle's, too. On my last visit on a Friday night, I arrived around 7pm to a fairly empty restaurant, by 8 pm, the place was packed. The decor and seating leaves a lot to be desired, especially the tables pushed up against the wall. Our group had the scallops gratin and spinach dip (it was the only non-shellfish appetizer option for our shellfish allergy friend). The scallops were good, I cannot speak as to the spinach dip, since I don't eat the stuff. I had the scallops with shrimp and butternut squash risotto as my entree. It was good, but it was rather home chef tasting. Nothing wrong with that at all, I am just positive I could have recreated the dish in my kitchen very easily. My non-shellfish friend had the pasta with chicken and sausage and didn't enjoy it very much, she only ate a little bit of the dish because she had issues with the texture. Apparently, the chef noticed this and sent the waiter over to inquire what the problem was. He also sent over a free order of creme brulee (ironically, she also doesn't like creme brulee for texture issues) and comped half the price of her meal. The food is okayish, the plates are on the small side. Desserts look pretty but the taste is just terrible, I had the "Lavander crémé brûlée" which literally tasted like body wash. (Mind you, I'm having Alka-Seltzer as I type this). The thing is, they haven't changed the menu since they first opened, the prices are ridiculously high for what they serve; like 3 scallops with literally a spoon of risotto. The place is dark, cold and has little to no ambiance. Service was friendly and kind but not enough to compensate for food and cost. Prices are just out of proportion. After a client meeting, I took the recommendation to have dinner at Lucio's. When I arrived, my hunger and I were on empty and near death. Yet, we were armed for disappointment and tummy aches; the aftermaths from prior enthusiastic recommendations. Resting on the shoulders of our minds was the hope that my client's recommendation was solid. The evening was late and service was incredibly marvelous. My waiter was prompt and conscious of our hunger. He was driven to ensure our comfort and earn our respect from his work. At a glance, one would believe his pauses were to catch a breath from endlessly canvasing the floor. But to us, it was for the purpose either to locate the opportunity, or nourish the indulgence - who needed more service? Who needed another refreshment? Who did not have a dessert? Who could use a second dessert serving? Brilliant. Here was a waiter worth a second look. I suppose when you are responsible for your income and have goals, you surely think, and surely act differently. Lesson learned from a professional waiter. Next, the chefs. Similar to any other respectable and high earning profession, the Lucio chef prepares food for a purpose beyond filling a body full by means of a meal. Instead, the work he prepares is for the potential - a patron's emotional satisfaction, return business, word of mouth referral, and glory. Consequently nothing was sacrificed in preparing my appetizer- crab cakes and entree- filet mignon served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The taste and my experience shattered the armor that my hunger and I wore. And, the weight was uplifted from the shoulders of our minds; hope became a reality. Every bite was emotionally charging. The chef's work was worth its price in gold bars. And, another lesson was learned. There is a cost to develop a body of work; it's not cheap. The professional, the chef and waiter must know you are serious. Nothing is more serious when money is on the table. Obviously a patron at Lucio's foots the bill after their food. Yet, bear in mind, once the menu is served, your financial commitment is requested. My total bill for my dinner evening for service of 1 was $50.00 and $15.00 for the tip. My boyfriend really likes BYOB places so when I found this place and it's great location we decided to check it out. We double dated with another couple and had 2 bottles of wine to share among the 4 of us. We made a reservation for 7:30pm on a Saturday night and the place was not crowded when we arrived. The place didn't get filled up until about 8pm. The waiters are kind of on this team wait staff method. We had about 3 or 4 different waiters come to our table asking for drink orders and telling us about the specials. It was kind of annoying after awhile, but I'll be thankful for the attentiveness. My boyfriend and I shared the crab cakes as our appetizer. It had a rich mango salsa on it. The sauce made the place. The crab cakes were good but sauce made it heavenly. For our entree, we shared the seared scallops with risotto. We weren't super hungry but we definitely picked the right things to eat. The scallops were tender and the risotto accompanied it well. This place is kinda weird. You open the menu and see upmarket prices, and the waiters are very polite and generally treat you well, but the devil's in the details. The chairs that we were seated at were plastic waiting room type chairs. Was there supposed to be something that went with the dry bread, like olive oil, butter, maybe a jam? The wine glasses were cheap and wine service for your bottle was poor. Would it kill them to pour the wine? The waiter seemed to know nothing about the cheese plate that we ordered, and definitely knew little about cheese in general. The entrees were very good, though. The only minuses foodwise is that the grilled leek with the duck had the consistency of straw (the duck was perfect), and the brownie for dessert was not worth $6+. For the money, I wouldn't return, but this is because there are higher standards that should be expected that come along with a $30 an entree price tag. There are better BYOB's in Houston. read more

This place is nice. I went there with my coworkers and had the filet mignon and crispy calamari. Apparently this place has quite a bit of hype, if so I can see why. FOOD: As I mentioned earlier I got the filet mignon. It was VERY good. About 7-8 oz with a nice crisp for the outer top layer. I like my steak medium rare, more so on the rare side and they got it right perfectly (thank you steak gods). The calamari was great, came with two butter-based dips. The sides were very slim, so to speak. PRICE: Lucio's isn't exactly cheap. My steak was $33. Calamari was about $12. SERVICE: Nothing at all to complain about here. The servers were very attentive and enthusiastic, keeping a good balance of checking in on us without being annoying. AMBIANCE: This place is pleasantly classy. There's a valet, dim lighting, and cloth covered tables with wine glasses. Kinda sexy. Dress up a bit. Parking is a bit scanty if you don't valet though. CONCLUSION: Good eats. Me and my crew went to Lucio's on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and it was perfect for such an occasion! The chef put us at a large table in front of the open kitchen, we put our wine and champagne down, and it felt like being at home with friends but with a wait staff! Everything on the menu sounded delicious...daring food combinations that made complete sense and definitely made my mouth water. I opted for the carpaccio (and it was a HUGE plate!!) and Scallops with Butternut Squash Risotto. It was just enough food...and the prices were very affordable. I'm a total sucker for risotto and butternut squash, and Lucio's was delicious!! It seemed as though most of the menu items had truffle oil...MMMMMM!!! Nothing on the menu is more than $30, with a menu that reads like many of Houston's most prestigious restaurants. The BYOB factor is key and the wait staff was highly entertaining and attentive. This is a really cute small restaurant in the middle of a neighborhood. I've read a lot of great reviews about it and my cousin was planning on doing her birthday dinner here last week. They were booked for big parties so we had to change it to some place else. But I wanted to try it out myself just to see what all the hype was about. The attire said it was "Casual" so I ended up walking in with jeans, a sweater, and flats. I felt a little out of place here. The men were all in blazers and dress shoes and the women looked like business women who had just gotten out of work. I love the concept of BYOB! They had a $5.00 corks fee which is reasonable! The service there was fantastic! The waiter was very attentive and made sure that our side water glasses never reached the bottom! So let's get to the food... APPETIZER'S: - Lucio's Crab Cake $12 : I love crab cake and every where that has it, I TRY! It was good here. The typical crab cake... nothing to different. I liked the mango salsa that went along with it! - Beef Carpaccio $10 : Honestly, I expected a lot more from this. It wasn't bad but I really wasn't satisfied. If you love cheese then you will probably love this appetizer. The flavor just wasn't there. I didn't get to taste the beef at all. All i tasted was the cheese and a little bit of greens. It kind of gave it a "pizza" flavor. I wouldn't recommend it.. ENTREES: - Seared Sea Scallops $12: It was really good. I got about 4 jumbo scallops. I loved the butternut squash risotto! I ate it all up! The scallops left a weird scratchy feeling in my throat after i finished my meal. But overall I really liked the dish! DESSERT: - RAISIN BREAD PUDDING: They don't have a menu for their desserts. I decided to try there bread pudding. It came with a side of vanilla ice cream and 2 round clumps of their bread pudding. I love this place! It's a friendly neighborhood BYOB place where you can have an awesome meal with wine and not break the bank. My husband and I go there and splurge, appetizer, dessert, entree, our own wine, and our bill for 2 is still under $100. I always get their risotto dishes or the fish with the wasabi mashed potatoes (yummmmm!!!!) but my husband loves the pork chop or whatever meat they have and he loves it. I always love their SOUPS and I appreciate that they always have at least one VEGETARIAN OPTION. Actually, I enjoy their steaks and fish, but I think their vegetarian dishes are really some of the best I've had in town. They don't treat vegetables with an overly delicate style- they spend the same care with the vegetables as they do with the meat when it comes to seasoning and cooking properly. And I give it the full 5 stars because the service is almost always over the top. Friendly, non-intrusive, consistent and prompt. Excellent. Melvin is a treasure. As for the exterior, I've read about comp'd valet, but surprisingly enough, we found parking right across the street (on a Saturday night, no less). yup. Like a boss. * SERVICE: Our waiter was a young, eager fella who I suspect was in training since he was constantly being shadowed by another waiter. That said, he did a great job - explained the specials to us, gave us recommendations, and (awkwardly) stepped in every once and awhile to make sure we were okay. Unfortunately, the "dinner" part fell a little short for me, which is why they're left with 3 stars. I have an obsession with wasabi-mashed potatoes, so I definitely enjoyed that, but I was *completely* underwhelmed with my tuna. It lacked seasoning, it lacked pizzazz, it lacked SOMETHING. Ended up tossing it in a to-go box in hopes someone at home would eat it later. The risotto was good, at least. I'm not sure about how my friends felt about their dishes, but my boyfriend agreed that his half-chicken was "just okay." For dessert, we all shared Bread Pudding and Apple Tatin - again, to reiterate, "just okay." Aside from feeling totally bummed about our food (and all the money that went to waste), I would come back to Lucio's. The atmosphere is wonderful, the BYOB is a plus, and service was impeccable. Hopefully, my next meal there will be a 1-UP from this visit. *BEWARE* though, as they charged us TWO corking fees even though one bottle was already corked beforehand. (Unless they charge by how many bottles you actually bring with you, and if so, it shouldn't be called a "corking" fee.) Lucio's Crab Cakes: 4/5 - lightly battered, lots of crab Spinach Dip: 4.5/5 - lightly fried pita chips, dip was nice and rich Seared Sea Scallops: 3/5 - The butternut squash risotto was great, scallops good - the sauce accompanied the scallops well - not overpowering, but the sauteed shrimp though seasoned nicely was not fresh and as Khoi wrote, was 'shrimpy' Bread Pudding: 4/5 - firm consistency and sweet, but not teeth-hurting sweet. BYOB - can't beat that! Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 I liked this place and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our friend had the short ribs and those who tried it said it was fabulous. The waiter was nice. It was a great place to meet with friends. We were able to hear each other across the table. I'd recommend this place for a group or date night. Overall, great food, FABULOUS service, good prices. First impression? Frustrated! I hate place that do not offer self parking. I NEVER carry cash! I drove around searching for parking on the street, but no such luck. So I had to apologize profusely for having no tip money. I know... I should be better prepared. But now a good start to the experience. Inside the restaurant was a whole 'nother experience. Very nice. Friendly faces. The concept and feel of Lucio's is very similar to that of Just Dinner on Dunlavy (another fabulous BYOB). I think I still prefer Just Dinner slightly over Lucio's only because the interior and overall feel is more romantic and intimate. I think Lucio's could achieve this, starting by removing the cheap tiles on the floor. :) They provide complimentary bread, which is always a happy bonus for my pregnant belly. We bypassed the starters and went straight for the entrees: red snapper for me, and ribeye for my husband. I didn't care for the side of vegetables swimming in salsa, but better than some of the other unhealthy alternatives. My husband loved the side of stacked potatoes. Both the snapper and ribeye were cooked perfectly. For those that care, you can watch the two chefs prepare all the dishes. Not for me, but some people can sit and watch the Food Network for hours and here you can do it live. I'm sure we'll be back - very cute. And apparently has received rewards the past 3 years for being the best BYOB (tho they also have a wine list if you forget - not so at Just Dinner). read more

I was looking for a nice BYOB place to take my husband for his birthday and stumbled across Lucio's, and I'm so glad I did! This place is TINY, but the smallness makes you feel cozy and special. I called and made a reservation (must do by the way, due to the smallness of the restaurant). They screwed up my reservation and had me waiting about 15 minutes, but they were so friendly and apologetic (and even opened my wine for me so I could drink while we waited!) that I couldn't be mad. The food is excellent. Crab cakes are my 2nd favorite in Houston (1st place goes to Eddie V's!) I got the Flounder and it was to die for. The risotto was amazing as well. My husband got the Ahi Tuna and it was equally wonderful. In fact, every food item we had was so amazing, I couldn't believe I haven't heard of this place before. I'm making my reservation today to come back for Valentine's Day! read more

Celebrated a birthday here and the service was impeccable. For a large party the food all came out at the same time and perfectly cooked. They took care of the wine we brought and created an atmoshpere for an amazing evening. Our favorite dinner spot. read more
