I don't like leaving one-star reviews, but when you can't even finish the meal you ordered, something is wrong. I've eaten here twice, hoping the first visit was just an off day. Unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing. This time around we ordered the green papaya salad and the pad Thai, and both dishes tasted off, almost as if some of the ingredients were on the verge of spoiling. After a few bites we both decided it was time to go. The service was also concerning. The cashier was eating his dinner while ringing us up and repeatedly putting his fingers in his mouth before handling transactions. Although he wasn't the one who brought out our food, it didn't inspire confidence in the restaurant's food safety practices. The restaurant itself also appeared somewhat dirty and in need of maintenance. To make matters worse, we both experienced stomach issues after eating here. All these years and Luckie's Thai-Asian Cuisine is still really good. They have a Thai food menu and Chinese food menu. I'm partial and definitely more into the Thai menu. My go-to's are the shrimp spring rolls for apps, tom kha gai for the soup, their pad thai is really good for entree, I get it with either shrimp or chicken. The fried rice, curries, and Thai stir-fry are also a good call. For dessert, the sweet purple rice with mango is a must. I say all these options as Luckie's is one of those places where you order and pay first, then get served food. Not usually a fan of this set up, but for this specific restaurant it works. Either way, their staff still offer great service even if they don't necessarily do the traditional table service. It was my brother, my mother and myself for lunch. My mother loves Chinese food while my brother and I love Thai food. I guess we were lucky to find Luckie's as a Thai-Asian cuisine which does both. They're located in the Fry's shopping center. Inside you seat yourself at any of the open tables. I would guess they can seat about 40-60 for capacity. There are menus you can take from the counter back to your table. There are also some pictures of the dishes above the main counter to see what you might be ordering. The staff was very friendly and helpful when placing the order. We started with eggrolls which were more like Chinese Spring Rolls. Their spring rolls are much different and Thai style using the clear wrap and not fried. My brother had the chicken curry while I had the seafood curry and mom had the shrimp with lobster sauce. The rice arrives as a large scoop in a separate bowl while the main dish is in another bowl. They're easily mixed on the plate. The seafood curry was very tasty and not too spicy. It came with shrimp, salmon and mussels along with peppers and onions. The shrimp with lobster sauce was too much for mom so we took it home. The staff offered a box of fried rice to take home as well at no extra cost. Most dishes cost around $12-$18. I was glad we made the right choice for lunch. read more

Delicious hidden gem for Asian cuisine in far southeast Tucson! This spot serves both Thai and Chinese dishes in a fast-casual setup--you place your order at the counter for dine-in or takeout. Service was great with a warm and friendly welcome. The food was amazing! We ordered Thai curry--seafood curry and house green curry--and both were delicious. The seafood curry came loaded with shrimp, mussels, and salmon. We like our curry extra spicy, so we added chili oil, but the flavors were fantastic on their own. For the kids, we ordered orange chicken with rice and another with lo mein. Both were generous portions--especially the noodles, which the kids loved! I came here for lunch. I tried their green curry with tofu and steamed rice. It was flavorful. There were green and red bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, and Thai basil. The tofu was ok. You order at the register and have a seat. They bring your food to you, but you get your own soft drink. The restaurant was cozy. There were mostly tables and chairs. This place is talked about all of time as one of the best Thai spots in town. It was good! I'd like to go back and try some of their curries and soups. The great thing about this place is the ability to customize your order. We had a vegan, a vegetarian, a gluten free person, and an omnivore and we were all able to order a delicious meal. Food-I typically get the Gen Tso's Chicken at this place and any oriental food joint. Here I get that almost exclusively and I get the crab puffs too. All of it is excellent. I have eaten inside the restaurant and I have ordered over the phone for pick up. Either way it's a top notch place. Service is always great too. Ambiance is what I call cut and paste oriental decor. What a very disappointing lunch we had today at this establishment. We shared the 'Sweet & Sour' Pork......as they do not offer any 'lunch specials' and only have a dinner menu. (What Asian restaurant doesn't offer a lunch portion sized special? So the pork inside the sweet & sour seemed like any old dried out pork chop that was impossible to cut with a knife or fork! YUCK! We ordered the 'fried rice' and it was the worst fried flavorless rice ever! No fried egg in the rice as eggs are so expensive! No vegetables and again flavorless! With few Chinese options in Vail, Lucky's has one menu side with Chinese American faves, GTso's, Orange/ Lemon Chix, Moo Goo Gai Pain, Broccoli w choice proteins, Egg Foo Young, +Teriyaki, etc. Pineapple Fried rice (Thai Sub Pa Rod) $14.99 lots of chicken, 4 shrimp perfectly cooked, lotsa fluffy eggs, and some fresh pineapple that could of been more sweet haha but understand gotta take what you can get off the vine. Would of liked more: chopped cilantro throughout, more than one slice of tomato, 2 slices cucumber but great overall flavor and wok hei 5/5* While pineapple not sweet the Kung Pao Chicken $13.99 was overly sweet with added sugar. The food here was delish. I didn't need to use the chili oil at all. But loved having the option of being able to add it. Service was very friendly. It was obvious they have lots of regulars. I was there for lunch time and it was quite busy with walk ins and takeout orders. Thai art and pictures all around the place. Simple but convenient location. You can tell it's been there for years. Seems Emily oriented. The menu was quite overwhelming with so many options! Love that they have the option of Thai OR Chinese! I ended up options for both to have leftovers. The hot and sour soup was different. I had never tasted one like that. It had a strong onion taste but still yummy. The lemongrass in it had a funny texture.. I especially loved that they gave the crispies toppings because most places I have to ask for it. Super flavorful. If I were to come back I would want to try a Thai soup and the Singapore noodles. Went inside to order takeout, received a pleasant hello upon entering. Restaurant clean, ready for the incoming evening guests. After reviewing an extensive menu. My daughter and I ordered from a nice young man at the order/pick up counter, who quickly took our request. We decided on beef pho soup x3, orange chicken w/steamed white rice x1, papaya salad (som tom) x1, fried potstickers and crab puffs x1 order of each. Pho soup broth flavorful, lots of noodles, fair portion of cooked sliced beef, fresh basil, cilantro, lime and bean sprouts. The fried orange chicken was tender and sticky rice tasty. Papaya salad made perfect and packed a lil' punch of heat from a sprinkle of chopped red pepper that gave it the right amount of spice. Fried potstickers and crab puffs were delicious, even came with dipping sauces. Our order was brought directly to us as we waited at a table. Once home, I was impressed with the careful packaging of the takeout. Round quart soup containers were taped in four places to ensure no spillage. Selected containers slotted on corners to keep condensation from building up, preventing soggy potstickers, crab puffs and fried orange chicken. I highly recommend this establishment for your family or solo dining experience. Sorry, no photos, had three adults and one teenager who was starving. I decided I wanted Chinese or Thai and picked Luckie's. The Thai menu didn't have what I was looking for so I chose shrimp chop suey. It came with steamed or fried rice and I also ordered two egg rolls. The chop suey was very good and the egg rolls were some of my favorites in town. The prices were high, considering the portions. I was expecting larger portions for $16 for the entree. The egg rolls were $4, drink and tax totaled $25 and there wasn't enough for leftovers (unusual for an Asian restaurant). You order at the counter, drinks are self-service and they bring your food to your table. The "self-service" should be a little bit cheaper. The place was clean, but small. Although the food was delicious, I probably won't be back. I have several other favorite Asian places that cost less, servings are much larger and you are waited on for a much more relaxed dining experience. When I go out to eat, I prefer to be waited on. This place was a step above a fast food place with higher end prices. In comparison to some of my other restaurant faves, I can get shrimp chop suey with fried rice, soup and add an egg roll and it's under $15 plus there is some leftover to take home. Food is always good and a consistent experience. The service is standard. The curry and Mongolian are a go to for us.

The first time I ordered from Luckie's, I was blown away by the flavor (and also the heat). The next time, I didn't specify a heat level. I think that, to them, means make it very mild (which it was). I know now to order it "medium" to get the best of both worlds: some heat along with their incredible flavor. I've only ever placed to-go orders, however the inside of the restaurant is very comfortable and you wouldn't think you were inside of a strip mall. Highly recommended! read more

Tucson is not known for Asian cuisine. Most of my experiences with this genre here have been pretty bad, mediocre at best. I was actually a bit reluctant to try Luckie's based on my track record to date in Tucson. Wow. I've eaten there twice now and both times its been incredibly good. So far, best in Tucson for Thai. It's not cheap, but it is very, very good. Everything is freshly prepared, not greasy and tasty. Spring rolls are excellent. I've had both Penang Curry and Green Curry. Both were perfectly executed and a large portion. Pro-Tip: The first time I went, at lunch, I had the Penang Curry. Nobody asked me how spicy would I like it and what I received was very mild. So when I returned a few days later for dinner, I asked for the Green Curry, 4 on a scale of 5 spicy. What I received was borderline deadly. Not complaining, but I now have calibrated with their heat scale! 3 would have been a better choice for something with good heat without fire. I could see all the tiny red whole Thai chiles mixed with the carrots and peas. As I worked through the bowl and those little flamethrowers steeped in the curry broth, it progressively got hotter as I approached the bottom of the bowl. Caveat Emptor! Great food, clean bright restaurant. They appear to do a great take out business. Definitely putting this on my local go-to list. read more

We moved from Marana to Corona de Tucson back in March of 2024. This means we are experiencing lots of new East Side eating places to review. This place is by far, my new favorite Thai restaurant. Every Thai dish that I have sampled so far has been a cut above any other Thai place. I can not get enough of their Massaman curry. Going to steal a quote from Amanda C. "Everything we've tried on their menu has been consistently great." I second that. That is a good summary of Luckie's. I also recommend their Pho. Why? For me it has flavor. Most Phos' are kind of bland. Luckie's Pho has a small bite to it. Not sure if it is pepper or what but it is flavorful. And my last recommendation is their sticky rice with fruit desert. If you love sticky rice and you like condensed milk and tropical fruit, this desert will send you. They serve Diet Coke for all of you Diet Coke or go elsewhere ppl. read more
