When I first walked into the place it was empty so I was a bit skeptical. I was greeted by a nice man who was very friendly and gave me the rundown of the favorites on the menu. They have both Thai and Chinese food here. Not a big menu but a very good selection. I went with what he called the most popular dish. It was Thai Basil Stir Fry. I chose pork as my protein. Let me tell you that was amazing. Such great flavor with the Basil,Bell Peppers, and bamboo shoots. Now I know why that's a favorite. To drink I had my first ever Thai Tea and it was so refreshing. Reminded me of a Horchata! Lastly for dessert you have to try the coconut ice cream. They give you just enough to enjoy. I will be back. The only negative I have is that the seats are not comfortable. But that's easy to overlook when you're chowing down on good food! Maybe I will try the Pad Thai next time. read more

Looking for something a bit different than my normal than my usual food haunts I found Thai China Bistro. I ordered dinner to go. I got the steak pad thai and a sticky mango rice. The pad thai was good. The portions were big. The sticky rice was so-so. The mango had a lot of unappetizing brown spots and the rice was kind of hard. The service was great. We had crab puffs (good, pre-made), tom yum soup w/tofu (very flavorful, raw ginger), and Thai Pineapple Rice (delicious-- best we've had). Service was good, and the takeout order we placed for friends was a bit delayed. We'd go back. Sometimes Thai+Chinese means that one or the other cuisines suffers, but not here. My boyfriend and I came to try a new Thai restaurant. We walked in and it was little to no customers. We were surprised because this place was amazing. I had a block of time between morning errands and a manicure appointment, and it was lunchtime. Asian food sounded great and I remembered Thai China Bistro had recently relocated to the east side of town. So there I went. The restaurant is small, located in a mini strip mall at Broadway and Pantano, with plenty of parking in front. Only two spaces were taken at 12:30, so I nabbed one in front. The hostess/waitress greeted and seated me at a nice wood table with little metal chairs - no cushions. She promptly brought me the ice water I wanted and a menu. Lunch specials change each month, and January's are Chinese (maybe other months are too, just different Chinese offerings). I was more in the mood for Thai, so perused those pages and decided on a cup of Tom Kha soup with shrimp and Thai chicken lettuce wraps. I love Tom Kha soup because the coconut milk contributes such a lovely flavor; but this broth was very thin, watery, and I expected a richer, more luscious consistency. Four large shrimp, perfectly cooked, were delicious, as were the mushrooms, so the soup was a mixed bag. The lettuce wraps arrived and smelled great. Several leaves of crisp romaine were nestled next to a large mound of ground chicken and chopped vegetables. The flavor was good, but needed seasoning and spice. I asked for some chili oil and that added some kick. The onion, cabbage, and peanuts provided a tasty crunch, but the dish lacked sauce. There was, however, a puddle of liquid in the bottom of the dish. A cornstarch slurry and some spicy seasoning could have turned that liquid into a savory sauce to tie it all together and add some heat. Again, a mixed bag. I had eaten at Thai China Bistro several years ago, at their Grant location. The service is still good and the food still average. read more

Awesome little place! My daughter and I wanted something different. We came in was immediately greeted and sat. My daughter ordered the melon boba and I had the coconut Boba. The sweetness was perfect. The Bobo was soft and chewy the way it's supposed to be. I ordered the garlic veggie lunch without the rice. It came with an eggroll and a soup. I picked the hot and sour soup. The veggies were good and the soup was just delicious. My daughter tried it and she really liked it. I ordered the papaya salad. If it's not something you've ever had before, it is a unique taste like kimchi. But I enjoy it. It was fresh and just very refreshing. This was the first time I had papaya salad that had like bits of green beans in it and I enjoyed the crunch. My daughter ordered the pho. That broth is just amazing. She got it with the tofu I liked it. She probably would've enjoyed it a little bit better with beef. And at the end, my daughter got mango sticky rice because she's always wanted to try it and she just loved it. Our appetizers were small, 4 coconut shrimp, 4 tiny dumplings and 4 mushy egg rolls. The noodles in our Thai dish were overcooked and it was mainly veggies vs noodles. Unbelievable... we arrived for an early Christmas dinner, first group to be seated after they opened, and ended up waiting an hour before finally walking out. During this time, they fulfilled takeout orders and served groups who had arrive after us. After some polite badgering, they finally served us a few appetizers, which were awful (one was a soup that was essentially some chopped scallions in a vat of soy sauce). They could have told us that they were backed up with orders from the previous day... but no, they let us sit and wait for nothing. I had been to the former location of this restaurant when it was still on Grant, and it simply wasn't memorable. Nothing stuck out about it, but I never made it back there. Driving around on a hot summer Saturday, I saw the new signage for the Broadway location and figured I would give it a try. I arrived right when they opened at noon, and for about 10 minutes was the only person in there, but they did a fairly brisk takeout business while I was there. I started with a Thai iced tea, and it was delicious. Sweet but not too sweet, and very refreshing. My tofu summer rolls were similar, heavy on mint but flavorful and so refreshing. I liked the crispy tofu inside, it gave a very different texture than I'm used to. I then ordered the Tom Ka soup with chicken and a side of rice. Tom Yum was delivered to my table instead, but it smelled so amazing that I tasted it. Yum was definitely the right description., and ultimately probably nicer on such a hot day, even if it's not what I'd intended. Thai China Bistro has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. The flavors are so yummy, and the dishes are always fresh, and you can order any dish gluten free! Everyone is our family has a favorite dish, including brocolli beef, pad Thai and yellow curry. The boba slushies are refreshing and the sweet mango rice is so creamy, sweet and delicious. If I could eat here every day, I would! They closed during the pandemic but reopened recently on the corner of Broadway and Pantano. I actually stopped in this plaza to go to Wingstop. I happened to park in front of this restaurant and since I hadn't tried Thai Bistro before I figured I'd have a seat. I asked the super friendly gentleman who came to my table what he suggest I try. He recommended the Bangkok Delight. It. Was. Delicious! Very crunchy vegetables, tender flavorful chicken AND SHRIMP?! I ordered pork pot stickers and they were truly the best, most fresh potstickers I've ever had in my life. I saved half the meal so I could eat it AGAIN later. Fantastic service, beautiful food. We don't claim to know better but have traveled the world and enjoy all kinds of amazing food. I had the general tao's chicken and the vegetables were crispy and fresh. The chicken was hot and crispy. The sauce was amazing and I have found my new Chinese and Thai spot. My wife had the pad see ew. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a great savory flavor we expected. The chicken was tender and moist. Veggies were perfect and so was the sauce. It's been hard to find a good Thai place since Chef Dee closed Senai, but this is our new spot for sure. We had some steamy hot pork egg rolls which I could have had like 20. Super good and nice starter while our food was made fresh! Lastly, the service was so friendly. The owner was super attentive and talked to our 10 month old. We went Sunday night and ate in. I don't know what all the fuss is about here as we were not impressed. The counter/greeter/servers were very nice and attentive so no issues there. For drinks there are a variety of cans and bottles you can select from but nothing of interest to us. We ended up splitting a diet Coke but not what we really wanted. The green curry was so-so. Most of the curry flavor was at the bottom of the bowl so you could taste it if you stirred real hard or used the spoon to pull it up to the top of the coconut milk. Lots of chicken and veges in it though. The Pad Thai was OK. Wifey just spooned some of the curry sauce on top and said that made it better. I got the Pad Kee Moa. I don't know what that was. It wasn't like any Thai noodle dish I have ever had anywhere. Can't say much because I've never been to Thailand but I don't think you could get this there. Just comparing it to other Thai places around the USA. It was flat noodles with some veges and I think they just poured a bottled soy sauce concoction into it and stirred it up. I can't recommend it. Hey, if you want to tell me that the chef conjured it up from a secret list of ingredients, then fine. But It won't help. But what to I know. People were coming in to eat in and the carry out was busy too. Very steady business Sunday night. I don't understand why though. We will go elsewhere for Thai. Delicious Thai is finally on the east side!!! I was so excited to learn of the move to Broadway and Pantano, and I definitely was not disappointed with the meal. We were greeted and seated quickly, and the menu is super simple to read - it's currently a laminated excel spreadsheet, but it works. We opted for the Thai side of the menu, starting with Thai iced tea and Thai coffee for my husband. Both drinks are cold and creamy and sweet and delicious. We started with Thai egg rolls, pad Thai with beef for me and green curry for my husband. Everything was simply perfect! The egg rolls were hot and crispy, s d the mains were so good! I'm picky about noodles, as so many places in Tucson use vermicelli instead of rice noodles, and these were spot on! My husband's curry had a nice spice (I would have personally liked it hotter), and it was a comforting dish. The service is kind and efficient, and the family that owns and operates the restaurant is just so sweet! We will definitely be back, as we still need to try the Chinese side of the menu . read more

A recent open on the east side so I decided to try it. My first dish was the chicken teriyaki and an order of crab puffs. I ordered to go and when I got home it felt like there was more sauce in the bag than the dish. There sauce was spilling out of the box. Overall the food was just okay. I was going to write a review and give them a three star. However, their customer service was nothing but amazing! Greeted like a favorite customer when I walked in, my order was taken and within minutes I was out the door with order in hand! In fact, because I was treated so well I decided to give them another try. My second try, I ordered the orange chicken. It was one of the best orange chicken dishes I've had! Had to get the crab puffs again cause those were pretty good. Not to mention the customer service was on par with the last time I was there! I have yet to try their Thai dishes but it will be next! Friendly service, good food. I would have given 4-stars if the soup was better. Was greeted as soon a we walked in with a friendly smile and hello. I ordered the Tom Ka soup as an appetizer. It was ok. I think it was just missing a little seasoning or something. Next time i'd try the hot and sour soup to see how that is. Moved on to the Pad Thai, it was delicious! I didn't read the menu correctly and didn't see you have to order the chicken separately to add to the dish (doesn't come with chicken automatically), so I missesed out on the chicken. We stopped here on a whim for a birthday lunch (just two of us), and we were more than pleasantly surprised! The food was great (pineapple fried rice, chicken with broccoli, and orange chicken) and very fresh and well prepared. This place will be a new stop on our luncheon circuit because of great service and carefully prepared entrees. Every table was full after we were seated, and the service was excellent despite the crowd. Foods I tried: *Appetizers* - Coconut Shrimps were crispy golden brown with just the right balance of complementary flavors and not overcooked - Crab Puffs were very flavorful, fried to perfection and are now the benchmark to which I'll judge all future competing versions *Entrees* - Thai Basil Stir Fry with Beef was just right, the balanced flavors of basil, crispy bamboo shoots and bell peppers paired well with the Asian beef which was not fatty nor gristly. - Lo Mein with Shrimp was done right, noodles were spot on, firm, not slimy, well dressed with tasty asian sauce; clean fresh silver dollar size shrimps were plentiful and cooked to perfection. *Dessert* - Hawaiian Pineapple/Coconut Ice Cream served as a cool treat that actually reminded me of Hawaii (As there are many 'versions' of what 'Thai Hot' actually is in the US, the hosts graciously let you add the level of Heat you prefer with complimentary Hot Chili oil which is available upon request) I only write 2 kinds of reviews, 'You Should Eat Here!' or 'Don't Eat Here'. My husband and I decided on a whim to have dinner here with our three year old. I had been wanting to try it since they moved to this location. The first thing I will say is that this establishment is not kid friendly. There were no high chairs or booster seats for kids. When it came time to order our food, my husband and I, opted to share a drink, but we were told they would charge us for two drinks if we shared. This might be standard in a sit down restaurant, but the way he told us wasn't kind. When the food came, the portions were small for the prices (which are pretty typical for Thai) and the amount of protein in each dish was skimpy. I got the Pad Thai and my husband got the Teriyaki Chicken. The meat in both dishes appeared to be less than 2 oz. The actual flavor of the food was okay, but it wasn't the quality I am accustomed to. Another issue I had was the lack of cleanliness. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the booths in the back of the restaurant were dirty and cluttered with food and just stuff. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant. read more

I ordered the Bangkok curry-but with yellow coconut curry. It had shrimp and chicken, green peppers, carrots and onion. So tasty: Spicy with a hint of sweetness. I also ordered a side of shrimp summer rolls. It had a lighter homemade sweet sauce with sesame seeds. I will say there could've been more shrimp in the roll-only 2 per roll left a lot of room in between bites. But overall I enjoyed it. Also the curry came in a container that was a little over half full. Kind of strange. And the cost was more than the posted menu on Yelp, so someone should get a proper menu (that you can read) on this site. This instantly became one of our favorite restaurants! From the filtered water to the delicious Thai and Chinese food. We got apps entrees and dessert, each plate being better than the last. Rarely do I give a review, but we were so impressed with our experience we thought it was worth sharing. This is 5/5 (really an 10/5 in our book), if you're a Thai eater in Tucson this is your spot! There is some notable remarks about the food but I will start with the service and ambiance. 1. The server was really kind and thoughtful with a great sense of humor. The attention to detail was also really important, I am not a vegetarian or vegan but for some odd reason I love tofu, so when I order a dish the Pad see eew he made sure to make sure it was okay that there was egg on the dish (this is important for anyone who is actually vegetarian/vegan) 2. TIMING! We order all items at once, but something that often gets overlooked is being brought out all your food items even before you've finished your appetizers. In fact as we finished our appetizers he asked if we were ready for our food. That doesn't happen often at ANY restaurant. 3. The food was INCREDIBLE. We had the Thom Kha, Vegtable pot stickers, Pad See Eew, Dynamite Edamame, and lastly the Massaman. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Best Thom Kha I have had in Tucson. They also do steamed tofu and fried tofu which is a big win too! I can't stress enough. We have eaten at almost all Thai spots in Tucson - and this has won us over. Can't wait to go back!!! OMGGGG... I am a Thai Curry snob and this place is hands down THE BEST in Tucson. I have eaten at many Thai places in the city and the curry here made my heart sing. They are remodeling and it's so cute!! They have awesome taste in atmosphere and let me tell you the server (which I think is the owner) was so attentive, polite and sweet.
