We went on a very busy Saturday night. It was a bit frustrating because we were told an hour wait time and was put on the waitlist. We kept checking back, and weren't seated until a total of 2 hours! However, the staff apologized multiple times for it and even gave us a complimentary appetizer (spicy edamame) on the house for the inconvenience. This was a nice gesture from them. Outside is super cute, staff was wonderful even though they were understaffed as many places are right now. The bartender was serving us, half of our party was late but they were very understandable and accommodated us so well. Once we ordered food the wait for it wasn't long at all, food was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Drinks were awesome, the akwafina was bomb, it tastes like a pink drink from Starbucks but with vodka. Will definitely be a return customer. read more

I could eat here everyday. I will say the one thing I don't like is that so many rolls have jalapeño. I like spicy, a lot. I firmly believe that jalapeños are subpar to other spicy chilis. For some reason it's been popular in Richmond for food and drinks. Hopefully we move away from this trend soon. This place is the best sushi in RVA. The sushi rolls are always made with care and stuffed with thick cuts of fish! The atmosphere is so chill and clean. I recommend coming earlier than later on the weekends, as there can be a wait. Fairly priced sushi for the quality that it is! The customer service is also unmatched. I really, really wanted to love LAF on my second visit. The shrimp shumai had barely any shrimp, and what existed tasted fishy. The Get Naked and Eel Roll easily could've been from a grocery store -- not great quality and certainly nothing special. We frequent another sushi spot we'll stick with. read more

Very disappointed with this place, was told the wait would be approximately 1 hour. After 1hr and 30 minutes walked in and was told if I wanted to take out because there are still a lot of people ahead of me. I finally got a call and text message that the table is ready 2 hours and 20 minutes later. Ended up going to Fat Dragon and had a wonderful time with only 20 minutes wait and it was fairly accurate. Place will always overestimate by 10-20minutes and the wait is much shorter not the way around by a whole hour. Will not come back and do not recommend to anyone if you value your time. If you're going to take names and reserve, have a time limit on how long each guest has. read more

This place definitely has a cool menu and great location! The sushi is good, lots of options, but definitely ask for recommendations/clarification because there are a lot of spicy items. I have been there twice now and unfortunately had similar experiences both times with the service making my experience not as good as it could be. Both times I've been there late (one was a a late reservation, one was a walk in), and have been rushed through the dining experience. At 10:00 both times (they close at 10:30), the servers were cleaning, stacking chairs and sweeping around our table. It's uncomfortable to be in a restaurant when you feel unwelcome/rushed to leave, especially when you haven't received your foot yet. The waiter I had last night discussed other tables being annoying, didn't bring sauces with our order because the "kitchen was closed", and overall seemed like they wanted to go home. I want to like this place (I love sushi and Scott's addition!) but am not impressed with my first or second experience. read more

Amazing food delivered by EAT yet again!! Seriously some of the best sushi I've had in a long time. One thing that did rub me the wrong way was the amount of reservations. The website very clearly says No reservations. We showed up at 5:30 on the first Friday they were "open" (I assume there was a soft opening where they didn't allow reservations) and we got an hour 15 wait 30 minutes after they open. How's that make any sense? They said they had several reservations. Thought you didn't take reservations...? Just update the info and all will be well with me! Just didn't like that because my group had planned to eat there and would have easily made a reservation. read more

I called to ask if their kitchen was open at 9:40, they said they were close like all the other sushi restaurants in the area. They then said they could probably get me something and took my order. We get there at 10 pm (closing). The hospitality is amazing and so is the food. Everything is still packed nicely with big proportions, even if it was late.
