Really wanted to like this place, especially after all the good reviews. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, considering it was a takeout order. Got a variety of dishes, including the sesame chicken, spicy vegetable lo mein, spicy garlic chicken, chicken fried rice and cream cheese Rangoons along with some of their egg rolls. Family enjoyed the egg rolls and fried rice. Can't really go wrong with those. Unfortunately the lo mein had absolutely no flavor, considering it was spicy. Had to pile on some soy sauce and salt to enjoy it a bit more, though I'm sure my heart did not appreciate the add-ons. I was the only one that had the spicy garlic chicken and had to live it that whole night. Not sure if I'll try it again, considering the side effects I had. read more

All of the raving reviews were right! I was craving real Chinese-American food and figured I try the Lucky Bamboo Kitchen out. It is a clean, welcoming and spacious place. Everyone was so friendly! I almost made a huge mistake. I tried to order the Sweet and Sour Chicken with tofu instead of chicken. The wonderful staff person explained that they only use a soft tufu because it cooks nicely without breaking up. But it is not a goo match for deep frying and covering with that gorgeous sauce. I asked for a recommendation and was told General Tso was the way to. I always passed on General Tso for some reason. She described it as having a brown sauce that is sweet and a little spicy. I explained I don't do spicy. No problem. They left the spice out. I am vegetarian so they was nervous about the brown sauce. No need - it's vegetarian! While I waited I enjoyed the crunchy noodles and sweet sauce and some spring rolls. The high quality ingredients were so noticeable. Out came the General Tso and it was gorgeous. Nice crisp steamed broccoli. Lovely white rice. But the tofu and brown sauce were the stars. The tofu was fluffy but didn't fall apart. The sauce was delicious. Ordered delivery of beef fried rice and egg rolls. The egg rolls were of the style I remember with the excellent fried won ton(?) wrap instead of the new-fangled very thin wrap which I don't care for that seems to be the norm now. These were very tasty and had some substance to them. The fried rice was good, and the beef was very lean and tender, however the rice could have used a little more oyster sauce as it was a little on the bland side. I added some soy sauce which helped, but in my opinion a little more oyster sauce and some chopped scallions would have been a plus. All in all, it was very good and we'll order more from them. read more

As for the one that talked about racial preference I have seen Alice and her team show everyone the same level of respect and my food has always been exceptional. It was not tasty and I felt like it could've been cooked longer. I ate a few pieces and put it in the fridge to try again the next day, thinking that maybe my taste buds were off, but the next day, the dish had turned gray. Nope. Disgusting. Green beans - 3/5 stars. Not bad. Not great either. Egg rolls - 3/5 stars. Same as the green beans. Crab rangoon - 4/5 stars. These were the best part of my meal - very tasty. I'd order those again. My job had ordered Lucky Bamboo for todays lunch, and I'm honestly appalled by the experience. Everything was going fine until I found a worm in my meal. My colleague immediately brought it to the attention of the staff, but the response was less than apologetic. No offer to replace the meal or even an apology. This is completely unacceptable, especially for a place that should be following basic food safety standards. Needless to say, I won't be coming back and I won't be recommending this place to anyone, especially not for a work event. It's a shame, because we were hoping to make it a regular spot. Best Chinese food we have found so far! We recently relocated from California (I know I know) and we are on the struggle bus when it comes to food. But we drove into Dallas last night to give this place a try and boy are we glad we did! There was a couple leaving as we were walking in, and they were so sweet and informed plus that everything is delicious, the owners name is Alice, and she is very kind and great with substitutions! Which is a big deal to us. They were right! Everything we ordered was AMAZING! She even brought us some pickled cabbage that was DELICIOUS! The egg drop soup was amazing!! I love adding some pepper to it. We were very pleasantly surprised all the way around. We will be going back for sure! Can't wait to see what we get next time! Also, the facility was very clean! What a great experience with our order. Food was absolutely delicious, generous, and we loved the abundance of VEGETABLES in both entrees (Kung Po Chicken and Scallop and Shrimp Delight-hold the Scallops). Eggrolls were freshly made, so the filling had crispy cabbage, and the Chicken Dumplings (fried-meaning pot-sticker style) were also spot on. Can't wait to try other dishes. So looking for a NY style Cantonese restaurant in Plano for my 88 yr old mom who we just moved here. We stumbled upon Lucky Bamboo. The owner heard we were from NY and she came over introduced herself and really took care of my mom. The hot and sour soup took me back to my Wo Hop basement days. We ordered 4 dishes that were right on point. After our meal the owner came by and gave us Chinese almond cookie and you know that feeling you get when you become nostalgic-- well. Walking in you receive a warm greeting from the new owner named Alice. One thing that makes this place is that Alice cares. I started out my meal with an order of crab rangoons and some egg rolls.
