I ordered the elephant ear latte, which was part of the carnival themed latte lineup. It was delicious. It was sweet and it was a perfect treat. I needed it before heading over to Costco. I did not receive a receipt after paying so I don't know how much my actual drink and the cup was but it came out in total to $14. I also did sub out oat milk. Service was pleasant nothing extraordinary and they were fairly quick and making my beverage. I came around 2 PM on a weekday with no line. I also asked for extra ice and she gave me light ice, and then she barely mixed the drink after putting ice in, so my first sip of my ICED drink was warm. And listen, that in itself is not a huge deal. However, as a former barista myself, it's the little things. And when your barista isn't even nice in any way that's visible, every other aspect of negative is heightened. Just like when someone is kind, people are more willing to... "forgive" mistakes, like "oh I asked for extra ice and she gave me light, but it's okay she was really nice". The espresso they serve is just fine! No complaints there. I suppose this is just a: hey, maybe talk to your baristas about their presentation. Because it turns customers away from your business. 3 different baristas, similar experiences when it comes to their pleasantness.

The drink took an unusually long time to make because of an issue with the espresso machine, and when I received it, it was undrinkable--extremely burnt and bitter. Both my mother and I tasted it and agreed something had clearly gone wrong. The game started at 6 PM, and the stand closed at 7 PM. It was not realistic for me to leave my son's game to immediately return a defective coffee, so I brought the issue to the stand the following day. What happened next was far more disappointing than the bad drink. Instead of trying to understand the situation, the employee treated me as though I was making up the story. I was told the drink could not be remade if I wasn't certain which stand had made it. I was asked what time it was purchased and then told that she hadn't made a hot drink in hours, which felt like an accusation that I was being dishonest. When I explained that the coffee had been purchased the previous day and brought to a baseball game, I was repeatedly told that it could not be replaced because it wasn't returned immediately. Customer service requires judgment and common sense. A customer who receives an obviously defective drink should not be expected to abandon their child's baseball game and rush back to a coffee stand that closes an hour later. More importantly, they should not be treated like a liar when they attempt to resolve the issue. I asked whether a manager or owner could be consulted and was repeatedly told no. The employee eventually refused service and closed the window. The final disappointment is that I sent a detailed email describing exactly what happened and never received any response. Not an apology, not an explanation, not even an acknowledgment. Everyone makes mistakes, and bad drinks happen. What determines whether I return is how a business responds when something goes wrong. In this case, I received a defective product, was treated with suspicion when I asked for a reasonable remedy, and was completely ignored by management afterward. My mother was a regular customer. After this experience, neither of us plans to return.

I also go for the social aspect, chatting with staff is always an element of any coffee run. Woods in Everett covers all of those bases. The seating area is always clean, there is usually seating available and the staff is so friendly. While I have never had a bad experience there, I do want to shout out Paul and Ashley. Paul's warm smile and friendly greeting set the tone for a great experience. I am always so happy when I see him behind the counter. Ashley is another team member who makes my coffee run even better. Always friendly and willing to help me fine tune a drink so it's not too this or too that, she is always patient and kind. This location has a stellar staff, but unfortunately I don't know all of their names. Anyone who helps you will be fabulous. Ashley, thanks for making my Mother's Day special.
