I have been a customer of Lucky Dog for 5+ years. I alternate between them and another doggie daycare elsewhere-(when I travel for work) and my dog Mongo gets most excited when we arrive at Lucky Dog..that says a lot!! Knowing small businesses need to be acknowledged and recognized more, I wanted to post a review on what a great experience me and Mongo have always had there. The manager Rick, goes above and beyond for customers, as well as for their dogs. He always has the dogs' best interest at heart. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted either by him or other staff, and feel like I'm always treated like family. Even if Mongo gets to go there for a few hours to play and not for a full day, I always make sure to get there before 11:30am or after 1:30pm. They are closed during that time reason being, all of the pups that are there, no matter what- get nap/down time during that duration to rest. I love that they do that. The groomer, Corinne is also amazing, and it's so convenient. I cannot recommend Lucky Dog enough read more

Picked up my dog from LuckyDog after initial behavioral assessment and thought it had gone well and booked future boarding in presence of owner Rick I think he said his name was (BTW he totally ignored me until I said Hello, clearly someone lacking in basic manners), and I did NOT form a good 1st impression at all! He was grumpy, unfriendly, rude, unwelcome, irritable, admonishing me for unclear reasons & had difficulty looking me in the eye, super, super weird, racist undertones, wouldn't recommend anyone with melanin coming here yikes. If you have the misfortune of meeting this character you'll Definitely see what I mean- I didn't want my dog or family to be subject to any of those vibes moving forward. We've had absolutely terrific experiences in the past (only looking for a new daycare due to a move) and have never encountered an individual who spoke/behaved like this & emanating such a super negative/surly vibe, especially a person who reportedly works with dogs, wowza! Clearly he does this for the $$, he didn't acknowledge my dog either until we were finally able to exit the place (also- the place STINKS a lot, was more than what you'd expect). I was already not feeling the best about the place given to several negative reviews- but this crappy experience sealed the deal. Also thought it was weird when the girl who checked my dog in was the same one who checked me out & said "they" should have told you we close at 1130am (?), umm is she referring to herself in the 3rd person, odd gaslighting meant to insult my intelligence? Appropriate training of staff including the head (as we all know those folks set the example, in this case a very poor one) highly needed, the so called managed def acts as though he is doing you a huge favor (ha! he may want to review how a business including a small one like this one works, we dogowners are definitely handing over cash for services). & msg to him: you're not a rocket scientist, please get over yourself *eyeroll*. For anyone in a similar situation Don't bother wasting time w/ this place- terribly rude, unprofessional, and their hours make zero sense (and are also not what's written online- manager again seems to concoct his own rules on the fly depending on who he's looking at, total discriminatory oddball). The dogs are so excited as we pull into the lot and they run right In the door. They are always greeted with hugs and pets from the employees. We could not have found a better "home away from home" for our dog, Cooper. The entire staff is VERY welcoming and friendly. When we first started taking Cooper there I was in total crisis mode- I was taking care of my mother in hospice in our home and my dog needed some extra attention and TLC. I found that and more! The staff were so caring and nurturing that even after the crisis we have stayed on and are now regulars at least once a week sometimes more. Weird weird weird. Nothing bad happened to my dog--I don't believe it did at least. When signing up, I never was offered to see the facilities (in a huge warehouse), nor was any of the staff at all friendly, welcoming, or anything. They were simply perfunctory, non-smiling, "tested" my dog for an afternoon, and were just...unresponsive. Wouldn't take my pup here again, but there wasn't cruelty or anything. More of a staff issue. Just...it felt off. read more

HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?! One night stay resulted in me having to take my pup to the animal hospital immediately after I picked her up! All four of her paw pads were either torn off or severely damaged. I am extremely upset and would never recommend this place! Dropped off a perfectly healthy pup and left with a poor girl who can barely walk! I took my pooch there and will never take her anywhere else! They do a compatibility test to make sure your best friend will get along with the others. We LOVE Lucky Dog - great care and perfectly capable of managing our high energy pup! Our very energetic Weimaraner does great here for daycare. She is well socialized and has been to several other daycares in the greater Chicago area (we've moved and also work in different suburbs) so is used to the group play, eat, crate, nap and group play schedule. She took to Lucky Dog quickly and we have had nothing but a good experience there. Our pup is about a year and a half old so the structured hours are ideal to make sure she doesn't get overtired or bloat after eating lunch. I know she has a great time there because she starts pacing and howling to get out of the car as soon as we turn into the lot, then pulls me to the door to get in and play with her friends! I can't speak to a boarding experience, but the daycare setup and care is outstanding. The first week I took her there, she slept in the car for the entire 45 minute drive home and went right back to sleep after dinner, completely tuckered out - which is saying a lot for our crazy marathon-running pup. There is plenty of indoor space for her to run around with the other dogs while staying warm this winter. I always ask how she did that day when I pick her up, and I get a nice report from whomever happens to be working the desk that day. They are also accommodating for last-minute daycare requests; I usually only have a day or two's notice before I need to use their services. I have no qualms whatsoever about the safety of the environment there. Our dog has been injured by other dogs to the point of needing medical care at another daycare location, but we have NEVER had issue with Lucky Dog. I have zero reservations about dropping off my fur daughter there for a long day of fun with her friends when I can't keep her at home. read more

We take our hyperactive Vizsla to Lucky Dog once a week and board him there for all of our vacations. The staff is friendly, the facilities are great, and my dog loves going. This and rollerblades are the only way we have found to truly give him the exercise he needs. He comes home exhausted every time! read more

My family and I have left our Cavapoo, Buck, with Lucky Dog on several occasions over the past few months and we could not be happier with their daycare program! It's very comforting to walk in the doors and have all of the daily caregivers know Buck by name and to see how excited he gets each time he goes into the building. The dogs enjoy supervised playtime all day (except from 11am-1pm during nap time) and Buck always comes home happy as a clam and ready for a good night's sleep. I would highly recommend Lucky Dog as an affordable and trustworthy establishment with which to leave your dog for any amount of time. read more

On Monday September 16th, both my dog and my sister's dog were at daycare. (both standard poodles and very well behaved) My sister received a call at 5:00 stating that her dog had been attacked and needed to go to the vet to get "a stitch". When I got there (before my sister), I was shown the dogs wounds. My sister took her to the vet and her dog actually required extensive medical treatment as well as 21 staples from her neck to her abdomen. The problem is, the dog in question had known aggression issues. The dog has since been euthanized at the owner's one decision. Regardless, Lucky Dog has had issues in the past with this dog and aggression (as documented last year when they told my sister the dog attacked its "sister" dog). They knew this dog was dangerous and still kept it in the program. I do not know if this is a one time thing or if this is something that will continue happening but I do think it is important for potential clients to be aware. My dog and my sister's dog will no longer be attending there. read more

We trust our border collie Lexi receives great care while at Lucky Dog. The longest stay Lexi has had at Lucky Dog is two weeks, and we know Lexi had a great time. There is a play area inside, along with an outdoor area for the dogs. Its a family run business, and the owners are always accommodating for last minute stays. After a day at Lucky Dog, our lucky dog is turned into an extremely tired dog (and that makes us happy). Highly recommend this business! read more

I took my dog here for almost four years. Thought is was a great facility, and had no real complaints. However, there was a dog, with known aggression issues that was allowed in. I am told that the dog was seeing a behaviorist, and that the dog only had aggression towards her sister. This was not the case. My dog, who I was told repeatedly was standing getting pet by a handler when this dog attacked her, multiple times. My dog now has 21 staples in her left side. While I can understand sometimes things happen, the staff knew this dog has aggression issues. If a dog has it with one dog, why not another dog. I was very disappointed in the way this was handled. I asked why a dog with aggression was allowed to stay, who had problems at the facility previously. I was told that previous incident was a scuff up, there are scuff ups and attacks. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as they do not even accept the error that was made. I am also disappointed as it appears Lucky Dog removed my review, for no real reason. These events did in fact happen, and people have the right to know what type of dogs this facility allows read more

Our regular dog sitter planned their vacation the same week my family was going, so I had to scope out an alternative. I toured the facility and decided to give it a try. Lucky Dog requires temperament testing, so after submitting vet records and forms, I dropped my two dogs off at Lucky Dog for a couple hours to make sure they would play nice with other dogs. They passed! The staff members I met all seemed to care about dogs. The facility is clean and they have plenty of room. After a week at Lucky Dog, I brought home two very tired, content dogs. They smelled good too! Kudos to the groomer! Will definitely use them again. read more

We love Lucky Dog! And so does our Border Collie mix :) Whenever she gets picked up for the day, she is in "party mode," excited, and spends the whole evening relaxing. Seriously. We try playing with her, but she is not interested because she is so pooped! The staff there are friendly and usually have a verbal mini-report on how our dog's day was. We take her once a week to break up the monotony at home, and we'd say it's definitely worth the price if it keeps her entertained. My dog loves going to Lucky Dog and I think the world of everyone there! Laura, the manager, is wonderful! I have a flexible schedule for daycare, so Laura will actually text me to tell me that some of my dogs buddies are there and that it's a good day to play. She always amazes me how she handles the arrival of multiple dogs at a time, and money from this person and a card punch for this person, and never makes a mistake or gets confused! Multi tasking at it's finest. Lucky Dog is lucky to have her and I hope she never leaves! But most importantly she, and all the staff love my dog and all the dogs. I liked that it was close to where I was living so I thought I would give it a shot. When I dropped off my 4 pound yorkie I told them that he doesn't get along with big dogs. They told me that it would be find and they would put him with the other small dogs. Upon picking him up three hours later I was asked if I wanted to come in the back to see where he had been and how he was doing. I come in the back and he is with all the big dogs and sitting in the far corner and shaking in fear! I was horrified and complained, the only response I got was that the big dogs were friendly and wouldn't hurt him. I took my dog back home and he ran under the couch and laid there shaking and refusing to eat for the rest of the day. Never coming back here again!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Our dog Ally has been going to Lucky Dog for over 4 years. Jack and his staff have always been welcoming to us and they are always super attentive to Ally's needs. She can be tough The team treats Ally as if she was their own dog. The staff communicates well, always discussing the good and any issues if any. Lucky Dog truly cares about the well being of all the dogs and creating a safe/fun stay. We love this place has supervised open play for much of the day vs caging like most places.
