The food is so so, nothing amazing. Do not give you enough rice with your main dish. Also, the service is lacking considering they have like 1-2 waitresses working at once. I wondered into Lucky Dragon on accident and stayed on purpose. I lost a coin toss with my daughter who decided we would have Chinese buffet for lunch. I was feeling miserable and disappointed before we even got to the restaurant. I was in for a lovely surprise the buffet had been replace by a restaurant. The tables were turned as my daughter wanted to find another buffet but I insisted we stay. The decor was decent, clean and quiet, nothing to overwhelm the senses. The food was where they wanted to make an impression and boy did they. You can go with the typical Asian food staples or you can have an adventurous stomach at Lucky Dragon. I chose adventure. My appetizer was beef tendon with spicy sauce and my main dish was lamb stew in clay pot. I was nervous about these two dishes I had never tried before but now I can't wait to have them again. The beef tendon was cold and refreshing not overly spiced. The bed of lettuce it layed on was crisp and the tendon was perfect. The lamb in clay pot was delicious. It was like comfort food for my soul the rich thick sauce was like heaven in my mouth. I was already on my way to being full from eating half of the beef tendon but I could not stop eating the lamb. I burned my mouth the first few bites but obviously something happened to my brain that caused me not to care. Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten. I ordered the curry chicken, crab rangoon, and my dinning partner had the roasted duck... We will start with the App...the cream cheese filling was way to sweet, they use imitation crab, and their sweet and sour sauce was more sweet than sour. The curry chicken was ordered spicy and came out flavorless. When I asked to send it back the waitress seemed insulted when I gave her the reasoning. The dish came back...and by this I mean the same exact dish I sent back came back to my table with chili flakes just sprinkled on top....at this point..meal ruined. I went here with a group of fellow Asian Americans in my graduate program. Its a traditional chinese restaurant with a round table that spins. It instantly reminded me of the similar chinese restaraunts I grew up with back in California. We all ordered a variety of dishes that we shared with each other, my favorite dish was the spicy eggplant with was delicious. In addition, they did a good job with the salted pork. Worst Chinese food I have ever had. On a whim I called for take out while at Lucky's market. Sesame chicken (make spicy) w/ fried rice and vegetable lo mein. The lo mein tastes scorched. The chicken is tasteless and definitely not spicy and the fried rice is bland. I tried doctoring it up with soy sauce and duck sauce but nothing helps. I thought this was still a buffet, albeit under new ownership, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that it is a couple steps up from take out although I wouldn't call it fine dining. The service was very good, the food was DELICIOUS, and the ambiance was nice. We had the mixed appetizer which had fried wontons, crab rangoon, beef skewers, pot stickers....and I feel like one more thing. The beef skewers, despite the awesome presentation were underwhelming everything else was good, not mind blowing. For our meals I had orange chicken and my husband had the Family something which was mixed meats and veg. The orange chicken really satisfied my craving and was nice and crispy but still had lots of sauce and real orange rind mixed in. My husband really enjoyed his meal too. There were quite a few asian people eating there which I consider a good sign. My only complaint was that as I was leaving I saw that other customers had chopsticks and we were only offered forks. Best Lunch Deals in the area, maybe in Columbus. Have had Chinese all over the country and this place is frequently great. The staff are super friendly and you cannot beat the lunch specials. They give you awesome proportions for a lunch special and unlike a lot of other Chinese joints, they're food is not going to put you to sleep with tons of oil. I recommend the Chicken Fried rice which is always decent cuts of meat and the Orange chicken which is usually awesome. They lightly fry the orange chicken and it's great cuts of white meat chicken. And for the lunch special you get fried rice plus a very good Egg Roll on the side. And I've never been a fan of Egg Rolls til these. One note, as I am a big fan of Chicken and Broccoli. They pack theirs with a lot of radish which threw me off and wasn't as good. The broccoli was very fresh though which I love. Also, they don't have Chow Mei Fun but they have a Chow Fun which is big rubbery noodles with an almond taste. Not my favorite but the quality was still there. So far, those were the only two items I've tried that I didn't' much care for. If you like radish and almond type foods then they might be perfect for you. I plan to try many more items from the menu as this place has definitely won me over. read more

YAYAYYAYAYA! Finally some decent Chinese place in Columbus! Spicy Sautéed squid! MUST TRY! Its a million times better than the fried calamari from most other places. Stuffed Tofu or something.. it's a fried tofu stuffed with minces shrimp. very good. Literally crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. So, I've been here twice. The first time was only to get a large wonton noodle soup because I was sick and it was fine. The portion was huge and I ate it for two days. The wontons had shrimp in them,which I highly dislike, but it was ok. The second time I went with my brother and mother, after my brother heard that they had spicy intestines on the menu, and he wanted to drive to Columbus and try them. He was super disappointed. I tried them, even though I am super NOT into food like that--totally bland. They were not spicy in the least and tasted like really nothing but sesame oil. It was like eating nothing. My moo goo gai pan was somewhat dry. I like a lot of sauce and there was almost none. The fried rice tasted mostly like soy sauce. My mother's Kung Pao chicken without peanuts was definitely the best part of any of the food I tried. Weirdly, with the pu pu platter, neither the wontons or crab rangoon had very much actual filing in them. After we finished, I said this food was just...ok. We had a party of 12 people meet up here for dinner last Sunday and it was good, but not great. This was a family gathering with relatives from all over Columbus (and beyond) attending and it was fun seeing everyone! We found this restaurant easily and as they have a large parking lot, had no issues finding a place to park close by. They seated us in the back, at a huge round table, complete with a lazy susan, which was just a little bit too far away to easily reach. The staff quickly took our drinks and appetizer orders and then just as quickly took all of our main orders. My wife went for the General Tso's Chicken, I ordered the Lamb Stew in Claypot. I only heard a few other orders, one was for the Mu Shu Pork, and another was for the Green Beans with Shrimp. Of the 12 dishes served, 3 different people had issues, although none of them were serious. I heard one person complain their dish was too spicy, so we did our best to share some of the less spicy options we had with her. One person just plain did not like her food, but it looked like she ate most of it anyway and finally there was the Lamb Stew I ordered. This dish came from the "ASIAN SPECIAL" section of the menu, but there were things included to the stew I could not identify. Another problem was with the pieces of lamb, as they almost always had bone in it and sometimes that bone was sharp, which made the dish a little tough to eat. The stew itself was runny, more like soup. I tried to eat most of it (with no complaints) but did leave a few of the things I couldn't identify and a small pile of bones. All things considered, the meal wasn't bad and most everyone was happy with their food, but the experience in whole was not great. The servers were very efficient but they also seemed to be far too serious. My wife remarked that not a single server ever smiled, for any reason, during our time there. The restaurant itself was clean, well lit and seemed to be about 1/2 full. Also, did I mention that they don't serve alcohol on Sundays? In my opinion, in this day and age, I should be able to order a beer to go along with my meal, especially when I see it listed on the menu. I did not find any text included to the menu that read, "No Alcohol sales on Sunday, Sorry", so this also did not help. If asked, we would go back, but I would make sure to order something more traditional. read more

This is a nice, sit down restaurant with white table clothes and real silverware. It reminds me of the Chinese restaurants we went to when I was growing up. The service is good and the staff is friendly. We have visited several times when visiting my sister who eats here often. They offer a very extensive menu and I have sampled a number of items. I usually visit here at lunch time so I tend to order their soups or order soup to take home. They are very delicious and filling. read more

Carry out or dine- in, I love eating food from here. Dining in has a great atmosphere. It's clean, has nice tablecloths, great water glasses and a prompt and courteous staff. My boyfriend and I like eating their Szechuan beef or sweet and sour pork- the portions are hearty, even when carrying out. Also, the hot and sour soup is one of our favorites. I ordered the chicken pad takeout 9/28/13. The food looks appetizing, it contained beansprout and carrot slice in addition to the noodle. I told them to make it extra spicy which they did. That dish I give it a 4.7 stars out of 5 stars. Another week I ordered the spicy general tso chicken takeout ($6.55) which included one eggroll. I didn't like it the general tso but the eggroll tasted fine. The chicken tasted too salty and sweet, lacked any heat (spice), and uses low quality dark meat chicken. Please be aware that not all general tso chicken meats are of the same quality, some places use highly breaded chicken and very little meat which is only good if you want extra belly fat. The general tso I give it a 1 star out of 5 stars. Other than the food taste and quality, the cashier lady is very nice and friendly. The restaurant looks clean and upkept. read more

Came here with my girlfriends because we were craving decent Chinese food, and they both had good things to say about Lucky Dragon. It's no California, but it's pretty good for the Midwest. They have a really good lobster dish that was surprisingly not that expensive and made really well! We also ordered 四季豆 and a peppered beef rib dish that were both solid. One of my go-to lunch carryout spots. I admittedly haven't tried a ton of the menu because I'm stuck on their Szechuan string beans (I always add tofu as well) which are simple with sliced garlic, jalapeño peppers, and pickled vegetables and aren't drowning in sauce which is perfect. Their crab rangoon is pretty good and seems like it actually has more than just cream cheese as well. Sometimes their egg rolls are a little too greasy though so either the oil isn't hot enough or they're not drained enough. read more

My wife and I have at last found a Chinese place close to us that has really good stuff! We love Tai's on Lane, but traffic in C-bus is such pain. For our first visit, we had Chicken & green beans and hot pepper chicken. The green beans were as good as any I've ever had, the jalapenos in the hot pepper chicken were fresh, but not that hot... the vagaries of peppers:some are hot, some less so, oh well, I didn't care- it still had great flavor! The second time, we went I had General Tso's chicken (nowhere near as sweet as some places, very good chunks of chicken, nice and crispy, with a nice hint of ginger). My wife ordered the Chicken lo mein, but asked for it to be spicy (she's a chilli head and loves heat), and boy-howdy did they deliver! I tried it, and wow, it WAS spicy. The dumplings are good, both steamed and potstickers, and the egg roll was, too, if nothing to write home about. We will be making this place a regular stop. Now if they only delivered! read more

I was stunned that my final check was $10+ more than what I had anticipated based on the prices on their website and the fact they advertise a 5% discount on carryout orders. When I asked they told me those were old prices set up by the old owner. Wouldn't you think by now they would update their website?!? Also, they would not honor even the 5% discount....that's poor customer service in my mind. The main entrees I ordered were good but we had asked for green beans to be added to one entree. It was a $2 charge and I think there were maybe 5 green beans in the dish. Also, the spring rolls did not come with hot mustard sauce or sweet/sour sauce for dipping. I ordered the Saigon rice noodle soup, and it was tasty, except the color on the slices of meat seemed kind of off to me and did not look appetizing so I didn't finish eating the meat but slurped up everything else. The broth tasted similar to the wonton rice noodle soup. In addition to getting a side of bean sprouts/lime wedge/jalapeno slices, you'll also get sriracha and hoisin sauce. I also ordered the fresh spring roll appetizer, and I did not like it. The rice wrapper was a little chewy, like it had been sitting in the fridge instead of being freshly made. It included a piece of shrimp and a sliver of meat (pork possibly?), but the meat looked old. Then again, I've always had a hard time finding decent fresh spring rolls. Unlike the former resident buffet, you can no longer wash down all-you-eat General TSO's with a soft-serve cone and slice of freezer pie. What you get instead is a really broad menu of solid, fresh, Chinese food for a good price. I've had a few pretty decent meals here. I can't remember EXACTLY what I had the first time, but it was some kind of dish like tofu with cashew nuts or something and I had them spice it up. It was big crispy chunks of tofu too, me likey! Also, they have some decent TVs in there and my Celtics were playing a game that went into two overtimes against the Heat on my first visit. The owners were rooting for the Celtics too, which was cool. On subsequent visits, I got takeout. Once I got Szechuan Tofu and once Szechuan Shrimp. Both meals were delicious, and pretty cheap for lunch! Included an egg roll and rice. Oh, and they actually fry their fried rice, as opposed to using some pre-fried stuff like at a few other joints around town. I struggle with finding decent Chinese food in Cbus. I've long given up on finding "authentic". I tried Lucky Dragon and everything was just OK, across the board. Schezuan Chicken had hardly any flavor, in a dish that is supposed to be really flavorful. It wasn't bad, but it was just a OK as any other Chinese place. Based on the high reviews, we chose to try this restaurant for the first time. Bad Choice. I ordered Pad Thai, and specifically requested NO Spices. What I received was so hot I could not eat more than the first bite. My daughter ordered a beef and rice dish, and instead of just beef in the dish, there were beef intestines; she ended up not eating her dish, either. The Lo Mein was very bland; needed a lot more seasoning, and the broccoli was barely cooked. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more
