    Beef stew casserole

    Bean curd with shrimp

Pretty good! Came with a party of 9, and the food (a bit more than pictured) came out really quickly for the amount. It wasn't the most authentic but definitely a step up from the usual Americanized Chinese. There was a close mix of Asian and white patrons, which is telling. Most of the members of my party speak Chinese and laughed and chatted along with our waitress, who was great. She also made sure to communicate in Chinese and English to make sure everyone was on the same page, which was extra sweet and appreciated. The veggies were very very yum, as was the roasted duck. The deep fried chicken dishes didn't look very appealing to me, but the tofu with shrimp was p good. Personally this isn't generally the kind of Chinese food I'd go for on my own, but it's a good place for a large party or to bring people who are pickier when it comes to Chinese food. Thank you Samin S. for ordering and giving great recommendations :)

    Double Cook Pork

So a popular Asian restaurant ordering platform (CBus) sends me a $10 off $30 today. Let's try someplace new. Been craving Double Cooked Pork, but the Americanized version (ie, not pork belly or char siu, just random pig meat - but also with cabbage, bamboo, onion and carrots). This place in Clintonville apparently has it on menu. I order up that, hot sour soup, Vietnamese fresh rolls and a couple of egg rolls. Have to say my first visit here a couple years ago was pretty disappointing. But with the coupon, WTH. Most everything was actually pretty tasty. My only grouse, and the resulting loss of a rating star, was portion size. These plastic takeaway containers sure are shrinking. The main dish (dinner pricing), soup, and egg roll were a bit petite compared to what I've been getting elsewhere. The fresh rolls were of typical size. HSS was quite good, plenty of ingredients and a nice broth. Glad I picked up two. I'd buy a couple quarts if it were on menu (and actually quart-sized). Egg rolls were chicken-based. I thought a place listed as being Cantonese would have better than these were, maybe char siu instead? Nope. Pass next time. Viet rolls were fine, nothing overly remarkable, seemed freshly made and arrived with hoisin/peanut dip. Double cooked pork was what I'd hoped. (Hunan House had the best but they yanked it off menu for some reason.) Could use a bit more sauce and heat, but I'll doctor up the leftovers a bit in the wok. Place was a ghost town during prime time lunch. Glad I chose takeaway. Staff appeared less than enthusiastic if not a bit sleepy. But hey, it was humpday!

Ordered: curry chicken with fried rice (add eggs and bean sprouts), chicken wings, vegetable egg roll, and crab rangoon. The good: The chicken curry was delicious! Crab rangoons had a nice flavor The bad: I did not get eggs and bean sprouts added to rice. The chicken looked like it was mutated. Lol, we were seriously afraid to eat it so it was tossed. The crab rangoons were barely filled.

    Phoenix & dragon Chef Special

Food was decent. Ordered a few items for pickup. The phoenix and dragon entree, won ton soup and fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. Phoenix and dragon was good but was disappointed in the amount of general Tso chicken was included (3 pieces). Spring rolls and soup was good.

Surprisingly yummy Chinese! Walnut shrimp, Mongolian trio, & kung pau shrimp all delicious. Heard the eggplant was yummy from a local- will try next time in Ohio!!!!

Sesame Chicken and Beef with Broccoli
    Adam C.

I picked up some lunch portions of classic Chinese entrees from Lucky Dragon. I went for the sesame chicken and beef with vegetables (both $9 at lunch). The beef was tender and flavorful, and it was teeming with fresh vegetables! A delicious dish that felt healthy! The sesame chicken was classic Chinese American comfort food. The chicken was crisp without being greasy, and the broccoli was cooked nicely as well. The white rice was light and fluffy and I thoroughly enjoyed both entrees. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting and there's ample parking in the strip mall lot.

We decided to have lunch as a family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children.) 1. The food tasted okay, but with very little portion. I ordered a pork chop plate, which turned out to be sliced pork over rice instead. I also ordered noodles (only) for my kids and they gave us noodles with steak that was $3 extra and my kids did not even touch the steak. 2. It felt like we were being rushed to finishing our food because they came over clean up our table almost half way into finishing our meals. 3. My husband went to go pay the bill and the gentleman that was taking his payment told him his total bill was $108 with a 20% service fee for a party of 6. Fine! Then he chose to pay with a credit card, he was told it is going to be an additional $6 fee for using card. $6! That's a little hefty don't you think?? Final straw was the gentleman automatically charged my husband an 18% gratuity on top of those fees causing our total bill to be close to $150. My husband obviously made a complaint because was not told about the gratuity. Service fee was disclosed on their menu, fine! He was able to get a refund for the gratuity part; however, all and all it made our experience terrible, thus we will not be returning back here.

Noodles Were the Better Pick * Curry-forward broth with solid heat * Real chicken breast * Veggies fresh, though jalapeños looked like they had beef with the prep person * Noodles overcooked (hello, soggy Maruchan memories) * Wouldn't reorder, but glad I tried it -- way more flavor than I expected Final Verdict: I wouldn't return -- long drive, and there are way more flavorful options in Columbus for the same price (or a little more). But this is a good pick if: * You're already nearby * You've got picky eaters or kids * You want something pho-ish, fast, and affordable How I Got Here: This wasn't the plan. I drove to XIXIA in Pickerington -- and it was closed. Looked up the next closest one... far. But Pho Chef popped up right next to it, and the name felt familiar. Then I remembered -- my cousin had once recommended "Pho Chef." So I stopped. Sat down. Checked the text thread... and none of her recs were on the menu. Wrong Pho Chef? For sure. But the staff was kind, the place was calm, and I was too hungry to get back in the car. So I stayed. And while I wouldn't come back -- I'm still glad I got a story and a curry broth out of it. Their website was enticing. Ordering was easy. They have lots of options. There's a Laotian style fried rice and other things that will be familiar but there are also some unusual things. I got the stirfried chicken ramen, which is tender flavorful chicken, noodles, and tons of fresh veggies. I got it spicy, which was a little hot. But I like that. It was a rainbow of flavors and textures. Probably reasonably healthy, definitely incredibly tasty. I also got the fried jerky, because why not? Apparently it's a Laotian thing. I got mild with the spicy sauce on the side, and the jerky itself was pretty hot. The spicy sauce was not any more spicy, but was very flavorful. The jerky was thin, and crispy. Not all that different from some regular jerkies. Very good. A big portion. Came with perfect sticky rice. There was a fair amount of heat in everything except the rice. I like heat, but if you don't, order carefully. I believe there is a no spice option below the mild. Portions are good, prices are good, food is fantastic. Order was ready on time. There's tons to explore on the menu. I will definitely be back.
